00:02:35I went in and did a reading with him.
00:02:37He was confident that my voice capabilities were there,
00:02:40so he started sending me out to these auditions
00:02:43and it was pretty nerve-wracking at first.
00:02:45I went into a room where all these people knew each other
00:02:47and I was this outsider.
00:02:49I didn't really know how to, you know,
00:02:52maneuver around the microphone.
00:02:54I mean, I had singing experience, so that was good,
00:02:57but yeah, I just kind of got thrown into it
00:03:00and my first voiceover role was
00:03:03a character called Slim Pig.
00:03:06He was just this paper-thin pig that would, like,
00:03:09go around the barn and get into adventures.
00:03:11He was like a cut-out pig,
00:03:13but all the other animals were regular 3D.
00:03:16I don't know, it was strange.
00:03:18I kind of got hired to do this little boy voice.
00:03:21So Slim Pig kind of just sounded like this.
00:03:24Hey, little chicken, do you want to go on an adventure today?
00:03:28And he was just like this little dude.
00:03:31Because I was a role already on the show, I got to play the little chick.
00:03:34It's kind of sounding like this.
00:03:36Adventure!
00:03:37Oh, adventure!
00:03:39I got to play the cow.
00:03:40She kind of had this, like, weird voice.
00:03:42Oh!
00:03:44Slim Pig!
00:03:46Please help me!
00:03:47My head is stuck in a fence!
00:03:49Please help me move it!
00:03:51Coconut Fred!
00:03:53Fruit Salad Island!
00:03:56One of my favorite roles, actually, that I ever got was this Warner Brothers cartoon called Coconut Fred's Fruit Salad Island.
00:04:04And it was this sexually confused tomato.
00:04:07He didn't know if he was a fruit or a vegetable.
00:04:10So he was very sensitive and he performed poetry a lot.
00:04:14What am I, a fruit or a veggie?
00:04:19Either one could give me a wedgie.
00:04:22I went into the audition for the new Care Bear series.
00:04:26And they were looking for this new Care Bear called Oopsie Bear, who was this little boy.
00:04:31I guess they got a bunch of men to read for him.
00:04:33And that wasn't working out.
00:04:35So they got me in there and I just kind of based him on Chris Farley.
00:04:40Like, you know, that kind of like clumsy guy he plays all the time to like fall.
00:04:45Oh, I'm really sorry.
00:04:48I didn't mean to mess up the Thunderbolt Coaster.
00:04:51Sorry.
00:04:52I got to play, um, Boris Moody.
00:04:55He was on, uh, this show called Ricky Sprocket.
00:04:58He was about a showbiz kid and Boris Moody was just an ordinary guy who really liked breakfast cereal.
00:05:04And then so I think I got kind of pigeonholed to play little boys all the time.
00:05:07Because that was like my go-to voice, was the little boy voice.
00:05:11So when I went in to audition for My Little Pony, I thought it was obvious that I would read for Spike the Baby Dragon.
00:05:18And I just was like, oh, I'll just go to, you know, do my go-to little boy voice.
00:05:22Twilight! You know I love eating diamonds!
00:05:27You know, he's just like this little guy.
00:05:29I didn't, I didn't end up getting cast as Spike.
00:05:32But I got a callback for, not Spike, but for Applejack and Rainbow Dash.
00:05:38I just ended up getting both roles, which is pretty crazy.
00:05:41My job is fun. It's cool. It's like, um, it's, you know, you just get to hang out and do voices for a living.
00:05:56Not too shabby.
00:05:58Okay, whatever you want.
00:06:00Hey, what's going on? I'm Ashley.
00:06:02Uh, I, I am, uh, at the site of a show we just played with Hay Ocean.
00:06:07And I, I just had my first brony encounter.
00:06:10Do you have any voices for us?
00:06:12Well, uh, I suppose that Applejack's very happy that you came out to Hay Ocean.
00:06:16Hey, Rainbow Dash, couldn't it be more exciting?
00:06:18I need to go watch 10 Megan now.
00:06:20All right.
00:06:21Peace.
00:06:22Bye.
00:06:23Thank you!
00:06:24A brony is a fan of the television show My Little Pony, Friendship is Magic.
00:06:31And they're usually males from the age bracket of 18 to 30, let's say.
00:06:44The pervert alarm for sure went off in my head when I first heard about it.
00:06:48I want to very specifically not give a shout out to my bronies tonight.
00:06:57Now I show you're right in the middle of the normal scale.
00:07:00Since the reboot of the classic 80's cartoon debuted last fall, it's attracted a massive amount of male viewers.
00:07:05Combine the words brother and pony.
00:07:07But the audience isn't who you might expect.
00:07:10Fanboys have taken to creating pony art, posting fan videos on YouTube, and creating blogs dedicated to the show.
00:07:16Weird fit demographically, but they work together.
00:07:18My point is this!
00:07:19Bronies have changed the definition of masculinity.
00:07:22I think it's the end of, uh, civilization.
00:07:25What's happened is that with the spread of fast access internet, almost the entirety of the media with the fandom is entirely online.
00:07:32It's in a lot of senses a brand new type of fandom.
00:07:35It's this crazy phenomenon on the webs, in the media.
00:07:38It's kind of inexplicable, really.
00:07:40What happens when a movement puts a lot of new ideas into circulation?
00:07:45It, uh, it doesn't really make sense.
00:07:48People are inspired by the environment that surrounds them.
00:07:51The internet is a complicated idea, a set of protocols that has changed everything.
00:07:56Try to realize our imaginations and the need to retreat to a world of pure fantasy.
00:08:02We exist in a world of illusions.
00:08:04The true nature of reality beckons from just beyond the horizon.
00:08:08What?
00:08:09What?
00:08:10What?
00:08:11What?
00:08:12What?

00:09:29Will Miss Ball do us the honor
00:09:33of letting us treat her like the star she is
00:09:35for one special weekend?
00:09:39Wow.
00:09:41I guess...
00:09:43We'll see.
00:09:59I'm a trained Harley Davidson mechanic.
00:10:26I have built and can build custom motorcycles from scratch.
00:10:30I can weld.
00:10:31I can run a CNC machine.
00:10:33I've played college football.
00:10:35I feel like a bodyguard and ranch hand for a science fiction writer.
00:10:40I worked as a GM blue guy, a GM dealership.
00:10:43On top of all that, I watch a show for the little girls.
00:10:47I'm known as Dusty Cat in the fandom,
00:10:49and I'm known as the manliest brony in the world.
00:10:52If this guy can like a girl's show for what it is, you can too.
00:11:02Every character doesn't have the answers, right?
00:11:04They have to go find the answers.
00:11:05They have to learn from their mistakes.
00:11:07And that's what draws me to My Little Pony,
00:11:09because you have character-driven story where the characters learn something and grow.
00:11:16There's six main characters in the show.
00:11:18Twilight Sparkle.
00:11:19Her characterization is fairly easy.
00:11:21Twilight is the intellectual shut-in.
00:11:23Now you have Applejack,
00:11:25who is the hard worker.
00:11:27That pony you can go to.
00:11:29But her problem is she can't let others help her.
00:11:33Fluttershy.
00:11:34Too shy for her own good.
00:11:36That's one of her fallacies that makes her a character.
00:11:39Rainbow Dash.
00:11:41My, what an ego.
00:11:42She'll never get to the Wonderbolts because the Wonderbolts are a teen situation.
00:11:47There's no I in teen.
00:11:49Rarity.
00:11:51Element of generosity to a fault.
00:11:54She has to get over that.
00:11:55She has to learn from that.
00:11:56And then we get to Pinkie Pie.
00:11:58Party animal extraordinaire.
00:12:00Off in the left field.
00:12:01All the time.
00:12:02But still, when somebody needs to be picked up,
00:12:06when someone is feeling sad, she's there every time.
00:12:11Each individual character is so well-rounded within an archetype of personality.
00:12:19So people can see themselves as a Rainbow Dash, a Rarity, or an Applejack.
00:12:25That is the basis of excellent storytelling.
00:12:33Don't think of it as six little ponies in Ponyville.
00:12:38Think of it as six friends learning from each other.
00:12:50It just has to be wrapped up in a package of pastel ponies that's animated well.
00:12:54This is a show for kids.
00:12:56But it doesn't wallow in that point.
00:13:00I'm just a guy who happens to like a TV show.
00:13:03I love My Little Pony.
00:13:04I love what it does.
00:13:05I love the message it sends.
00:13:07And I want to be a part of it.
00:13:08And I want to be able to play in that universe.
00:13:11We're supposed to chug beer, ride motorcycles, be degrading to women, and like explosions.
00:13:19That's what's ingrained in our brains from the minute you're born and put into a blue grip.
00:13:28Well, I like what I like.
00:13:32I don't need society to tell me what I like.
00:13:37And that's all there is to it.
00:13:40As Twilight Sparkle would say, we must science this immediately.
00:14:10About a year ago, the brony phenomena sort of fell into our laps.
00:14:18And as soon as I heard about it, I thought, somebody needs to study this.
00:14:23The fandom is a term that's used for the community.
00:14:28And in general, people usually look at fandoms with kind of a little bit of like,
00:14:34these people need to get a life.
00:14:36Well, in fact, actually, where's the term fan come from?
00:14:39Fanatic.
00:14:39Fanatic.
00:14:40You know, it could be the Carolina Panthers.
00:14:45It could be Star Trek.
00:14:49It could be My Little Pony.
00:14:51Oprah.
00:14:52It could be Oprah.
00:14:53It could be anything.
00:14:56Our bronies ranged from 14 to 57.
00:15:00With the average age was around 21 years of age.
00:15:03Then there's the question of gender.
00:15:05We usually ran around 85% male and 15% female.
00:15:10Some female bronies like to be called bronies.
00:15:12Some like to be called Pegasisters.
00:15:15And we question if that 15% female, how much of those are bronies because they have a brony boyfriend.
00:15:23Bronies score lower in neuroticism.
00:15:26Neuroticism is sort of like a tendency, and I've sort of wrote, it's a tendency to experience negative emotions like anger, anxiety, to worry, to be stressed.
00:15:37And the bronies have lower scores.
00:15:40So again, that would tend to say, this is a group.
00:15:42Now, they're going to be depressed bronies and they're going to be anxious bronies.
00:15:45But that's very positive education level.
00:15:49What we found was around 35% of our bronies were in high school, while about 62% were in or had completed college.
00:15:58And then one of the biggies, the sexual orientation question, which many people, when they first hear about the bronies, will say things like, well, is it a bunch of gays?
00:16:1084% of the bronies will describe themselves as heterosexuals.
00:16:14One and a half percent label themselves as homosexuals, and about 10% bisexual, and then around 3% to 4% asexual.
00:16:24Asexual is based on clinical experience of some people who just simply are not interested in sex.
00:16:36It's still a puzzle.
00:16:37It's still a puzzle.
00:16:38And it's a puzzle to us as well.
00:16:41But I think that society as a whole is becoming less negative in their attitudes to war bronies.
00:16:55My name is Mike Bernstein, and I am the broadcast director of Everfree Radio.
00:17:12Everfree Radio is an online radio station and network of programs dedicated and mostly marketed towards the brony community.
00:17:22I ended up watching it because I thought, okay, clearly this is a phenomenon.
00:17:26I have to understand why.
00:17:28And I watched the first episode, and the first episode is a cliffhanger.
00:17:31It's a two-parter.
00:17:32So I'm like, okay, well, I got to watch the second part.
00:17:34You know, you got to see how the beginning story arc ends.
00:17:37And I was like, you know, I got to the end of the second episode.
00:17:39I'm like, yeah, that's pretty decent.
00:17:41It's okay.
00:17:41It's not bad.
00:17:42No, I better watch the third episode to make sure that it's, you know, maintaining that level of quality.
00:17:47And then the fourth, and then the fifth, and by the time I got to the 17th episode,
00:17:51I kind of hung my head in resignation.
00:17:52It's kind of like, damn it, you know, I guess I'm a brony.
00:17:56Oh, well, better come to terms with it.
00:17:594chan is an image and message board where the brony movement began basically back in,
00:18:04I think it was October of 2010, somebody wrote an article.
00:18:10They were citing My Little Pony Friendship is Magic as showing that companies were micromanaging
00:18:16programs while new cartoon shows are all about merchandising.
00:18:20So somebody on 4chan went and decided to watch it and said, hey, it's pretty good.
00:18:25And so they made a post about it.
00:18:27Other people started watching and they're like, hey, yeah, it's actually pretty good.
00:18:29And it became this kind of like weird phenomenon.
00:18:31They ended up becoming kind of like their own little clan.
00:18:34So more people watched the show to try and figure out, okay, is this just a big joke?
00:18:39And then they started posting images on the boards.
00:18:41And then the moderators of 4chan decided, no,
00:18:43we don't want all these pony images everywhere.
00:18:44So they shut it down.
00:18:45So then they started another one became this whole like flurry of online activity.
00:18:50In a sense, 4chan was the start of the brony community.
00:18:53It's the deep depths of shameless internet.
00:18:57Actually, people like to think, okay,
00:18:58bronies, the name bronies came from bros and ponies.
00:19:02That's not where it came from.
00:19:03It came from the B message boards and ponies.
00:19:07So that's how they combined it.
00:19:08It was 4chan B and ponies.
00:19:10So bronies, but I kind of like the bro one better because it feels like a little more,
00:19:15you know, hey, bro.
00:19:17So that's just me.
00:19:19So yeah, voiceover work is my job.
00:19:24And I just like love, love what I do.
00:19:27Love that I get to be a cartoon for a living.
00:19:30But my main passion is music.
00:19:38In Hey Ocean, there's two other members besides myself, Dave Vertesi and David Beckingham.
00:19:44The three of us have been doing this music thing for almost seven years now.
00:19:49And over the last couple months, we've been feeling the presence of the bronies.
00:20:00Bronies, by the dozens, have been coming to concerts.
00:20:03I didn't watch the first episode and then just suddenly get drawn in or anything.
00:20:08I don't want to be mean, but like, I don't care about my little pony.
00:20:12I think it's kind of difficult for both of them because there's this whole other fan base
00:20:26that's like kind of latching themselves onto our music.
00:20:29Yeah, it's weird.
00:20:30Like 30-year-old dudes liking a little kids show about female ponies, you know,
00:20:36that fly or whatever.
00:20:38But that said, it's weird to be really rad and really good.
00:20:44And it's important.
00:20:45I love people who are genuine and who are like, this is who I am.
00:20:49And that's what I like.
00:20:50I like the bronies for that.
00:21:08There's nothing that can compare to standing on a stage and singing with an amazing band
00:21:15and some of your best friends.
00:21:17It's what I love more than anything.
00:21:20And it's the dream, for sure.
00:21:21Don't tell me that we've come this far
00:21:31Just thought I'd get a fall apart
00:21:36Sing it when you're lost at sea
00:21:41Sing it till you have no voice
00:21:52Sing because you have no choice
00:21:58Sing it till you have no choice
00:22:00Sing it till you have no choice
00:22:02Sing it till you have no choice
00:22:04Sing it till you have no choice
00:22:23We discovered Hey Ocean through finding out about Ashley and the other Bronies.
00:22:28It's like, oh hey, she's in a band. Wow, really?
00:22:31So you check it out and you find out it's awesome.
00:22:34Mando Pony is sort of the persona that I developed to release music online
00:22:39based off of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic.
00:22:42The show generates so much positivity.
00:22:45It makes so much good happen.
00:22:47And yet it meets such disappointing venom from so many people are so venomous towards it
00:22:56and so hostile and destructive towards it.
00:22:58It just disgusted me and made me so sad.
00:23:00That was why I wrote the song.
00:23:02But we're a long way from Equestria. Long, long way.
00:23:10I think, you know, saying we're a long way from Equestria is really just a way to surmise
00:23:17the fact that, yeah, all things considered, we're so far from this world.
00:23:22Like the characters in the show, they learn, they forgive, they share,
00:23:27and they celebrate friendship and kindness instead of mocking it.
00:23:32And that we are so far from that.
00:23:35But it's getting better. I think it's getting better.
00:23:38I'm just kind of trying to decide right now.
00:24:06To go or not to go.
00:24:10That is the question.
00:24:12And it's just kind of at a crazy time.
00:24:15Like I'm really busy with work right now.
00:24:18And touring with the band.
00:24:21And I don't know if I have the energy to go into one of these conventions.
00:24:28I've heard crazy things about conventions.
00:24:30For someone like me, who's pretty new in the game, I might not be able to cope with it.
00:24:36I don't know.
00:24:38I didn't really expect to have fans, per se, in the voice work that I do.
00:24:45And it's pretty crazy that I do.
00:24:48I'm nervous. I'm definitely nervous.
00:24:50I don't know, something about it just gives me kind of an uneasy feeling.
00:24:57But I'm just going to go for it.
00:24:59You've got to do things that scare you in life.
00:25:01And I think this is going to be a really, really weird and wonderful opportunity.
00:25:07So, we're going to do it.
00:25:11I'm going to go to BronyCon.
00:25:13BronyCon is a convention for Brony's fans of My Little Pony, Friendship is Magic, or any generation of My Little Pony, to come together and just share their interests.
00:25:37Art, music, or just the best of the show itself.
00:25:41There are people flying in from California, flying in from Europe, because Ashley Ball will be at BronyCon.
00:25:48Voice actresses, in a sense, are the stars of the show, because they are the voices of the characters people love.
00:25:53You know, to hear some of the Bronies talk about rarity, oh, they would love to be rarity.
00:25:58The role in the community is they are the biggest celebrities.
00:26:00They are the biggest draw to these conventions, because people want to have that kind of, like, one-on-one with the closest thing there is to the characters.
00:26:07I think we have near-on a thousand pre-registered, and we have the capability to let people pay at the door.
00:26:13We're looking at basically hitting fire code limits for the convention.
00:26:21Military Bronies are just people who enjoy the show and are in the military.
00:26:25It can be from the extent of somebody who watches the show regularly and maybe has a few pieces of art and other people who liked the whole thing.
00:26:33It has a Mark 46 machine gun.
00:26:35It's a semi-auto version, but shoots .223 ammo.
00:26:38My friends were making fun of me for being a Brony for years, and so I told them what could be more manly than going around with all the friends with the machine guns and all the tactical gear and everything else and go out with Brony gear.
00:26:49The definition of a man is a human male with an X and a Y chromosome.
00:26:53That's it.
00:26:54It's as simple as it really gets.
00:27:01My name is Brian Mischke.
00:27:03I am predominantly an artist by hobby and everything like that.
00:27:06It's been pretty much my one and only real passion.
00:27:09I have a long time history, six years of service in the National Guard, the Army National Guard, so I think that pretty much is the gist of who I am.
00:27:21When I was 16, I was in school still.
00:27:23I dropped out, about 16 and a half.
00:27:2517, on my birthday, I joined the military.
00:27:29I swore in that day my recruiter got me.
00:27:31And at 18, I was in Iraq.
00:27:39The best allegory I can possibly use to describe Iraq came recently when I saw the movie Tron.
00:27:57And it's very interesting, because basically when you go to the world of Tron, everything is really barren, everything is really organized.
00:28:04It feels real, but it's not real.
00:28:07And devoid of real life.
00:28:10It just feels like that.
00:28:11Everything is devoid of life.
00:28:12That's the desert.
00:28:13It was desert for me when I was down there.
00:28:23Every tough experience is only gratifying after the experience.
00:28:27I guess I would say that that last five months in Iraq was probably one of the hardest experiences I had, if not the hardest.
00:28:44Actually, you know, to be honest, the hardest actually came after that.
00:28:48I went through probably a really good year and a half of a pretty deep depression after I got back from Iraq.
00:28:55For some reason, I don't know why I felt this way, and I still can't put a finger on it, but I just felt a tremendous amount of shame after a while.
00:29:03Just for everything.
00:29:04Even for the military, maybe.
00:29:06I don't cry.
00:29:07I don't.
00:29:08And I remember just this one time, I just went for a walk, and so many things are going on.
00:29:14And I just broke down and called my mom, and I cried for like three minutes.
00:29:17And it's kind of getting me a little emotional right now, but, like, I just let it all out.
00:29:22I talked about everything that was affecting me, and I don't really talk about those things.
00:29:29Life was just so much simpler when you're out in the desert.
00:29:31Everything was planned out for you and everything.
00:29:33Like, now you're back in the real world trying to figure it out.
00:29:37Art stopped doing for me what it used to do for me.
00:29:40I just kind of stopped drawing altogether.
00:29:42Didn't really see the point in it.
00:29:43Didn't really make me money.
00:29:44Didn't really make me feel happy.
00:29:45Didn't really feel like I had a purpose anymore in that area.
00:29:50And then I discovered ponies.
00:29:51I discovered a reason to draw again.
00:29:53And now here I am making art again, so.
00:29:57Don't underestimate the things that make you happy, you know.
00:30:00Just, I mean, if drawing ponies makes you happy, there's no reason to feel bad about that.
00:30:08You know, I've been drawing this, or I guess I say I drew this drawing.
00:30:11It's a pretty detailed drawing.
00:30:13This drawing took me probably about a week.
00:30:16It's the first drawing I've drawn in a very, very long time.
00:30:20It was kind of the catalyst to me getting back into artwork after probably about a year, year and a half hiatus.
00:30:28Princess Celestia is amazing.
00:30:31Princess Celestia rules over the kingdom, and she raises a son, and she is like a surrogate mother to Twilight Sparkle, which is the main character of the show.
00:30:42Of all the characters on that show, that's the one I come to admire the most.
00:30:45She's lived a thousand years, and it feels like it.
00:30:48Like, she's just kind of seen it all, and just really just knows what to say at the right time.
00:30:53Any adult who has really gone through it all and has been really thoughtful and really caring and everything like that is going to be a Princess Celestia.
00:31:00You know what I mean? Your mother should be a Princess Celestia in my opinion.
00:31:03Nicole Oliver, which is the voice actress of Princess Celestia, is going to be doing a panel at BronyCon, and I really want to give this image to her, this drawing that I made of her character.
00:31:15I think it's really important that I give it to her because I really want her to know that she's able to change lives.
00:31:22It's really important to me. I really need her to know that, and just thank her for being a part of it, and I hope it really goes over well.
00:31:33My name is Xi, I'm a blog author, and I'm an admin on Equestria Daily, which is the major pony news blog and media hub for the fandom, the Brony fandom.
00:31:48Basically, we do what we think people are interested in seeing.
00:32:04More or less, that turns into a fan hub, because most of what we do is post things that other people make that we think are cool.
00:32:10We also like to get interviews with voice actors and writers and directors and stuff like that, and talk to them about their experiences.
00:32:19If anything happens, like if Hasbro releases a new toy, or there's an announcement, or anything at all like that, we report them as soon as we possibly can.
00:32:28Any speculations, any rumors, any news at all. Like a gossip column with a newspaper stuck on with a stapler.
00:32:36Anytime anything comes out related to the show that could produce fan work, within like three hours you have professionally made songs.
00:32:46It's absurd. It's amazing and wonderful, and I can't get over it.
00:32:49When we were first starting, we made a huge deal out of getting like 1,000 page views, and then like 10,000 was like, oh my gosh, amazing!
00:32:57And that took like months to hit.
00:32:59And then started climbing up, getting 100,000, 200,000, skipped over 300,000 because it was going too fast.
00:33:07Got to half a mil, and it was like, oh yeah, wow, we're really making it!
00:33:10Then a million happened in the blink of an eye, and now we're at close to 260 something million views, and we hit a million more every month.
00:33:16Or more than a million, like two or three million a month, and it's just like, hi, remember when 1,000 was a big deal? Like, yeah!
00:33:23I guess the ideal goal would just to be like an animation media outlet.
00:33:27To just have it all in one place, and then sort of be the CNN of silly cartoons.
00:33:46That's amazing!
00:33:47Let's see you next time!
00:33:48Bye!
00:33:49I'm coming!
00:33:50I'm coming!
00:33:56I'm coming!
00:33:57I'm coming!
00:34:00I'm getting home!
00:34:02I'm getting home!
00:34:03I'm not going.

00:36:24Das ist für die Leute,
00:36:25of a bizarre you know gender roles conflict just me stissionless out to
00:36:29begin with there might be a mom and her daughter walking by and look down this
00:36:34aisle and see an older guy looking future pony toys it's programmed in
00:36:38their mind to jump to the work you know to the worst case scenario which maybe
00:36:43no always a pedophile or he's a big old man child or something's wrong with them
00:36:47the fact that brain is becoming more brave and going to the pink aisle behind
00:36:50please honor this is a sign that they're not afraid to say that hey I'm a dude
00:36:53und ich mag meine Little Pony.
00:37:36zu Benni Hillen,
00:37:37zu all sorts of media
00:37:39die eine 7-jährige Mädchen haben keine Ahnung.
00:37:41Es gibt viele von ihnen,
00:37:43für die Kinder Funktion,
00:37:45viele mehr für die soziale Funktion.
00:37:48Take a look at the 20th century.
00:37:51You're going to see that after every catastrophic
00:37:55and chaotic time in history,
00:37:58you're going to see something in reaction.
00:38:01The Roaring Twenties were a reaction to World War I.
00:38:05The Beatniks and the Bohemian generation
00:38:08were a reaction to World War II.
00:38:11You had the Korean War,
00:38:13but Vietnam came really quickly.
00:38:16And what did you have during that
00:38:18but the hippie movement?
00:38:20You know, don't trust anyone over 30.
00:38:22Then you get into 9-11,
00:38:25and I think that 10 years later,
00:38:27this is what we're seeing.
00:38:33We're tired of all the violence.
00:38:35We're tired of terrorism.
00:38:36We're tired of worrying about this.
00:38:38Let's get to something that is tolerant, friendly.
00:38:43We can escape into it.
00:38:45Close your eyes and watch My Little Honey.
00:38:49It's all about conflict resolution.
00:38:52It has a positive message,
00:38:54and not only that,
00:38:55but it's entertaining.
00:38:57We are currently at the Santa Monica Pier,
00:39:16enjoying a brony meetup for SoCal Bronies.
00:39:19What's up?
00:39:20The SoCal Bronies meetups,
00:39:22they're just a bunch of people that get together
00:39:24that like My Little Pony.
00:39:25Right now we're 800 strong.
00:39:26We put on small events that'll be spur of the moment.
00:39:29They'll just be hanging at people's houses,
00:39:30or, you know, they'll be like,
00:39:32hey, let's go to In-N-Out at 2 o'clock in the morning,
00:39:34and boom, eight people will be there,
00:39:36because they're local.
00:39:37Or we'll plan big, huge events,
00:39:38like our Grand Galloping Gala last Friday,
00:39:40which was 250 people.
00:39:42You know, it's just a bunch of people
00:39:44that want to hang out and have fun
00:39:45and get to know each other, so.
00:39:47Yeah, there's a website that we can go on.
00:39:50It's called meetup.com,
00:39:52and from there, there are different groups and stuff
00:39:55that you can go to, and one of the groups is SoCal Bronies.
00:39:59I literally post it up on the boards,
00:40:01and people take interest, and they want to do it,
00:40:03and they're excited to hang out with each other.
00:40:07SoCal, what?
00:40:08SoCal Bronies!
00:40:09Bronies!
00:40:10Bronies!
00:40:11Bronies!
00:40:12Bronies!
00:40:13Bronies!
00:40:14Bronies!
00:40:15Bronies!
00:40:16Well, I'm Liam James O'Donnell Linehan III.
00:40:18You must know my full name.
00:40:20I am actually in high school.
00:40:22I'm one of the youngest people here, surprisingly.
00:40:25I'm only 17.
00:40:26But regardless, these are my people.
00:40:29when you join in.
00:40:30When you all share its magic with me,
00:40:39big adventures tons of fun,
00:40:40a beautiful heart faithful and strong,
00:40:42sharing kindness and easy feet,
00:40:44and magic makes it all complete.
00:40:46Now my little pony, you know you're all my very best friends.
00:40:53SoCal, SoCal, SoCal, SoCal, SoCal, SoCal, SoCal.
00:41:00I have this one friend who's been my best friend since second grade.
00:41:17Since the very minute I told him I was a brony, he's made fun of me nonstop, just never ending.
00:41:25And about maybe a month ago, I forced him to watch one episode and he's just in love with it instantly.
00:41:39The grade school I went to was tiny. There were 32 kids in my graduating class.
00:41:43Which made it almost impossible to fit in if you weren't the mold that everybody wanted you to conform to.
00:41:52And I wasn't.
00:41:55Like last year, towards the end of the year, we had really started getting together as a group of friends.
00:42:05We're all into the show.
00:42:08And we decided that we wanted to start a club.
00:42:11So we got our friend who is really good at drawing vectors on the computer like this.
00:42:18And he designed the shirt for us.
00:42:20And so you have this harmony spelled out with elements of the periodic table.
00:42:26And that's kind of a pun because the strongest force in the show is the elements of harmony.
00:42:32And so that's kind of a pun.
00:42:34And then he drew out the vector and we all bought the shirts.
00:42:38A brony? No, I've never heard of one.
00:42:52If you really like my little pony, there could be something for you there, I guess.
00:42:56It's like adult comedy. No?
00:42:59There's people into weirder stuff than that.
00:43:02That's pretty random.
00:43:03People that should be grown up around now.
00:43:06That's pretty odd.
00:43:07Now, which one of you guys created that adorable logo with the Northwestern N and Twilight Sparkle?
00:43:21Was that you?
00:43:22I like the idea that Twilight Sparkle should be our official mascot because A, she's nerdy,
00:43:27and Northwestern is legendarily nerdy, and B, she's purple, and Northwestern is purple.
00:43:31So I think that we really do have to accept that Twilight Sparkle is our mascot.
00:43:35They have a place where they put local meetups for different universities across the world even.
00:43:42And I saw one for Northwestern and I was like, wow, there are actually other bronies at Northwestern.
00:43:47That's cool. Let's see what's up there. And I joined the group.
00:43:50We usually meet about every two weeks, catch the new episode, maybe watch a few other episodes.
00:43:59Brings people together, you know, makes friendships appropriately, I suppose.
00:44:06And, yeah, I guess it is kind of cool that a show, you know, so ostensibly about friendship is, you know, creating friendships in the real world.
00:44:14Big part of any community isn't just the show, but reacting to the show and being able to share your first reactions on those episodes and whatever else you might find online.
00:44:26And that's just really the beginning of what we've been doing and it's like parties and games and food and fun and all this stuff.
00:44:37There seems to be this undercurrent to most of the things that's reported or written about us where two-thirds of the time, three-quarters of the time, has to be spent reassuring people that we're not insane.
00:44:49And that's somewhat, well, we may be insane, but not criminally insane, I should put it.
00:44:58Northwestern is a place where fraternities are actually really important. When I came to Northwestern, I swore I was never going to join a fraternity.
00:45:04The whole fraternity aspect kind of puts the whole bro and brony. I mean, it's all about the community.
00:45:09You can share it with other people and that's, you know, the magic of being a brony.
00:45:14There should be like a book about packing a suitcase. Don't run away, come. Yeah, it's exciting. Is it? What am I doing?
00:45:33I'm getting my Rainbow Dash full costume shipped to me tomorrow, actually. So it'll be here in the morning. Just kidding, I'm not going to do that.
00:45:43To be honest, I don't know what the convention is going to be like. I kind of have an idea, but yeah, I'm not totally sure.
00:45:58Like these people could be, they could be really scary. Maybe I should be packing bear maids or something.
00:46:06But I did have a stalker a little while ago. I believe it was a male. He called me with a, like a vocoder thing, something, a distortion on his voice.
00:46:17So it sounded really low and scary, kind of like the scream voice. Like, uh, hello, Sydney. Are you alone in the house? That kind of thing, but like really low.
00:46:26And yeah, just asked me what I was wearing and what I was doing that night. And yeah, it was a little bit weird, just kind of invading your privacy.
00:46:36It's a weird feeling, but nothing came of it. People were like, you should call the police. You should do this and that. And I just kind of let it go.
00:46:45Um, bronies were not on the radar at this time. The bronies that I've met so far have been really nice. They're really enthusiastic about the show.
00:46:56And it's definitely going to be interesting to be in a room full of just, just bronies.
00:47:07Maybe I'll find my soulmate.
00:47:12Oh, man.
00:47:14You know, my whole philosophy in life is, you know, do what it takes to be happy as long as you don't hurt anybody else, you know.
00:47:29Some people call me a big kid. You know, me and my wife, we're just big kids and we're happy.
00:47:32You know, I own my own house. Um, but I love video games. I have Transformers, My Little Ponies.
00:47:47We like to do things that make us smile, you know.
00:47:51I'm not really worried about, you know, what she'll think of us. Like, she's being brought up in all this.
00:47:55We just want to bring them up with as happy. You can like anything.
00:47:57It doesn't matter if you're a child, an adult, a girl, a boy. If it makes you happy, there's nothing wrong with us, you know.
00:48:04You just do it. And if people, if that makes people uncomfortable, that's their issues that they have to work out.
00:48:09Because if you're walking down the street smiling, ponies on your shirt, nothing can hurt you.
00:48:14It has such a positive message and it can, it just, it's great at appealing to every end of the spectrum, both kids and adults alike.
00:48:22There's, there's no bad this show could bring.
00:48:24We had a particularly bad thunderstorm about a month or so ago.
00:48:29The next morning, she told me, she said, Daddy, there was a big thunderstorm and it was really loud and I got scared.
00:48:33I fell off my bed and I said, Ariana, why didn't you come and wake us up?
00:48:37And then she told me, but I'll never forget, she said, oh, well, Daddy, Pinkie Pie came out of my TV and told me to giggle at the ghosties.
00:48:45Pinkie Pie taught her to deal with these fears.
00:48:48You know, it's not about loving a little girl show. It's about loving these messages.
00:48:51And quite frankly, if all these people are following this show, which has these very strong happiness morals, you know, be kind to your friends, always be honest.
00:48:59Like this is all good stuff. And people are following this.
00:49:02My name is, my real name is Martin. The name that I go about online is Rommel.
00:49:10I helped co-found a group by the name of Burnies for Good.
00:49:13It's a solidarity support organization, not a charity organization because we haven't filed a 501c3 and we don't plan to.
00:49:19So Burnies for Good as an organization within the Burnie community has raised 80 to 85,000 US dollars.
00:49:26And that has gone to the Children's Cancer Association and to your siblings, which had three different projects that we helpfully find.
00:49:35The first one was a clinic in Uganda. The second one was a sustainable village in Burundi.
00:49:41And the third one was the expansion of an orphanage in Uganda.
00:49:45Burnies for Good definitely really shows that, you know, you can take what this fandom has and apply it to a very altruistic purpose.
00:49:56Burnies for Good really hammers on the social change, on the helping others part.
00:50:01It's not just a good thing for America. It's a good thing for the world. The world needs it.
00:50:04We need to get out of the sense that everything is individually done and that the world is not subject to change, because it is subject to change.
00:50:16And Bronies are making that happen.
00:50:22It's pretty good, but can you make it 20% cooler?
00:50:26Needs to be about 20% cooler.
00:50:2920% cooler.
00:50:31Needs to be about 20% cooler.
00:50:35So I guess, in one of the episodes, Rainbow Dash talks about something being 20% cooler.
00:50:41I'm not even sure what she was referring to, but the Bronies found that line, I guess, and found it really entertaining, or there was something about it that they latched onto.
00:50:53I mean, it's just an awesome phrase. It's just, who says 20% cooler? How do you make a percentile out of cooler?
00:50:58There's, like, shirts I've seen with shirts that say, make it 20% cooler. Or, like, people always write on our YouTube page for A Ocean, like, this band is 20% cooler, or whatever.
00:51:10So, you know, this, like, 20% cooler, or, you know, Roja, you know, those are all signals that groups, fandoms use to recognize, ah, we've got another.
00:51:23Yeah, it just became this thing. 20%, not that much cooler.
00:51:30Sometimes people are puzzled, and if people are puzzled, it's a chance to spread the word.
00:51:35Spread the word.
00:51:37It needs to be 20% cooler.
00:51:3920% cooler.
00:51:4020% cooler!
00:51:41Like, 20% cooler, seriously.
00:51:4320% cooler.
00:51:4410% cooler!
00:51:47No, baby, it needs to be about 20% cooler.
00:51:50I am a brony.
00:51:58I am a brony.
00:51:59Like, it's not, like, an unsure thing. It's not like a, eh.
00:52:03I watch the show, I look at the art, I read some of the fanfics, but most of all, like, beyond any of that, I listen to the music.
00:52:12I'm Silver Hound.
00:52:14All I've done is DJ pony parties.
00:52:17I make music.
00:52:19It's Silver Hound.
00:52:22Silver.
00:52:23Hound.
00:52:24In the mix.
00:52:26I used to wonder what friendship could be.
00:52:30Until you all shared this match with me.
00:52:33Take adventure, tons of fun.
00:52:35All these cool hearts faithful and strong.
00:52:37Sharing kindness.
00:52:38It's an easy beat.
00:52:39And magic makes it all complete.
00:52:41I just do it.
00:52:43It just .
00:52:44Whether that's because of a result of my creativity,
00:52:48or the show's creativity, or both working together as one.
00:52:51I can't, I don't know.
00:52:53This fandom has some good music.
00:52:54Better than anything on the radio now.
00:53:08I find it a great pleasure to sample a lot of the stuff from the show.
00:53:13I just have a lot of fun with it.
00:53:14It's pretty rewarding.
00:53:15As of right now, I have recently hit a million views on YouTube.
00:53:20Um, I have a thousand followers on Twitter.
00:53:21I'm reaching 2,000 on SoundCloud.
00:53:22I just said, you know what?
00:53:23I'm gonna sell this and see how much money it gets.
00:53:24And it got a little, a nice little piece of change.
00:53:25You know, I just needed some money for college.
00:53:26And I'll be taking calculus next year.
00:53:27And I'll be taking calculus next year.
00:53:28And I'll be taking a lot of the stuff from the show.
00:53:29And I'll be taking a lot of the stuff from the show.
00:53:30I just, I just have a lot of fun with it.
00:53:31It's pretty rewarding.
00:53:32As of right now, I have recently hit a million views on YouTube.
00:53:36Um, I have a thousand followers on Twitter.
00:53:39I'm reaching 2,000 on SoundCloud.
00:53:42I just said, you know what?
00:53:43I'm gonna sell this and see how much money it gets.
00:53:46And it got a little, got a nice little piece of change.
00:53:49You know, I just needed some money for college.
00:53:51And I'll be taking calculus next year.
00:53:54Um, the Pony music really helped me to afford that.
00:54:00You know, I grew up in Atlanta.
00:54:02Atlanta, Georgia.
00:54:04Dirty, dirty.
00:54:06And you know, growing up here wasn't the best of paradises.
00:54:10But, you know, survived.
00:54:13Growing up with that mentality, I just kind of took that into my music, you know.
00:54:18You know, you know, as long as, as long as I'm alive, as long as this laptop is on,
00:54:24you know, nothing's gonna stop me, you know.
00:54:27I'm gonna put my arms up high.
00:54:31Don't worry about tomorrow, cause I'm here tonight.
00:54:36I'll have the world before it passes by.
00:54:41Don't worry about tomorrow, cause I'm here tonight.
00:54:46And now I'm here tonight.
00:54:48I'm there tonight.
00:54:50Just keep working!
00:54:52Hope to get back some more.
00:54:53Hope to be good.
00:54:54Tell me more about tomorrow.
00:54:55Good evening, eyeful night.
00:54:56Given the history policy.
00:54:57You know what I need?
00:54:58I statements of our world.
00:54:59You know it.
00:55:01Say And preview that we made some possibility.
00:55:02We forgot my knowledge about tomorrow,
00:55:04and we sure did.
00:55:05I didn't continue seeing a quest for the conference.
00:55:06Big move to everything that you get into this world.
00:55:08The physics wise,
00:55:10I wouldn't wait for you.
00:55:10Me doing high school busca of all life.
00:55:12This is going to be an interesting journey, so here we go.
00:55:42This is going to be an interesting journey, so here we go.
00:56:13What makes America exceptional are the bonds that hold together the most diverse nation on earth.
00:56:20The belief that our destiny is shared.
00:56:23The idea that if you're willing to work hard, it doesn't matter who you are, or where you come from, or what you look like, or where you love.
00:56:32It doesn't matter whether you're black, or white, or Hispanic, or Asian, or Native American, or young, or old, or rich, or poor, able, disabled, gay, or straight.
00:56:43You can make it here in America if you're willing to try.
00:56:47You ain't a man unless you're watching My Little Pony, son.
00:56:55Okay?
00:56:55You know what I do?
00:56:56When I get done in the gym, I go home, I add my protein shake, I put on my Comcast DVR, and I sit down with a big bowl of cereal and watch My Little Pony, Friendship is Magic.
00:57:05You know why?
00:57:06Because it fills my testosterone up, so I can go back to the gym again, and just start pumping it out, and get bigger and bigger and bigger, son.
00:57:13Yeah, so you got to get in.
00:57:14I like being strong.
00:57:24Like, one thing I really like is just, I don't, when I was a kid, being picked on and bullied, like, being, like, helpless to the fact that someone's pushing you around, I hate that feeling.
00:57:33So the fact that I'm stronger, and I'm taking classes to defend myself, like, not only can I defend myself, but I can defend my friends, and I can defend, like, family if anyone's a jerk.
00:57:41So that's what I really got out of it, like, each time, I'm stronger than I was yesterday.
00:57:49If you know me, I'm a very huge Dragon Ball Z fan, and that show just inspired me so much as a kid.
00:57:56So just being like them is what I idolized, but I was fat and lazy as a kid.
00:58:01You know, a bunch of people, they always see shows, and they're like, man, that would be so cool to be, like, go back to eating their diet, soda, and cookies, and stuff like that, and that's how I used to be.
00:58:10Then I found some friends in high school who had a mutual interest in weightlifting, and they took me in and showed me the wraps, and I was just like, hey, I'm going to weightlift, but I'm still a nerdy person inside.
00:58:21Broans aren't, like, the most physically active people, as I've seen in the BroanCon, but that's not a bad thing.
00:58:26That's their choice, okay, but I just want to show them, like, hey, if you guys want to feel healthier and more confident, then I can help you out with that.
00:58:33So I would just upload a fitness video every now and then.
00:58:37I just want to show you, you can still like the show and just be in shape, because I feel like when you're in shape, you're just a lot more confident.
00:58:43You feel better about yourself.
00:58:45You look better.
00:58:46Everything just falls around you.
00:58:49It falls into place.
00:58:51Everything just da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da.
00:58:52It's just awesome.
00:58:53One day, Patrick and I were, I was getting ready to leave the office, and Patrick said, by the way, Marcia, have you ever heard of a brony?
00:59:06I said, a what?
00:59:08A brony?
00:59:10And he said, Will tell me that I'm a brony.
00:59:14He said to me, Dad, I'm drawing again.
00:59:18And I went, oh, right, Will.
00:59:19You know, that's great, because he's very artistic.
00:59:22And I said, so what are you drawing?
00:59:24And he got real quiet.
00:59:26And I said, Will, what are you drawing?
00:59:28And he says, well, have you heard of My Little Pony?
00:59:32I'm Will.
00:59:33I'm a senior in high school.
00:59:36I guess I'm pretty normal, I suppose.
00:59:39Thankfully, knowing my dad, I was sort of already expecting, you know, he wasn't going to, like, freak out and kick me into the house or anything.
00:59:45But when I first told him, you know, he was a little hesitant.
00:59:47He was like, what?
00:59:49The way I told him is that I was drawing again, you know.
00:59:51He got all excited, and he's like, well, what have you been drawing?
00:59:54And I was like, well, this is going to sound really weird, but I've been drawing, like, ponies.
00:59:57And he's like, you mean, like, horses and stuff?
00:59:59And I'm like, no, no, no.
01:00:00Like, the cartoon, like, My Little Pony.
01:00:03You know, my dad knows only about, like, you know, the old stuff.
01:00:06So he kind of was like, what?
01:00:08So I started telling him about it, you know.
01:00:10I was like, oh, it's the new show and everything.
01:00:12And so, you know, my dad was like, oh, that's pretty cool.
01:00:14And then the thing that really stood up to him is right when I said, you know, there's
01:00:18a lot of people who watch that.
01:00:19I saw my dad.
01:00:19He was like, oh.
01:00:21So, you know, that was my dad going off in a little psychologist mode, you know.
01:00:25So my dad definitely was okay with it.
01:00:29So we got picked up at the airport, and it really wasn't what I expected.
01:00:40There was a line of bronies all in matching t-shirts, and one of them had a rainbow dash
01:00:47sign.
01:00:49That's how I knew it was new.
01:00:50It was for sure the brony convention people.
01:00:53They were really, really enthusiastic about being bronies and about just the whole pony
01:01:01fandom situation in general.
01:01:05So, yeah, it's going to be a trip.
01:01:09It's going to be really crazy tomorrow, I think.
01:01:13So I set out to try my luck in the big city, Manhattan.
01:01:17The most cosmopolitan.
01:01:18We're here.
01:01:19We're here right now in Manhattan.
01:01:20Oh, my God.
01:01:23That's probably why they're doing this here.
01:01:26So it's the night before the conference, the big brony con tomorrow.
01:01:30Just got to the hotel, scattered things around.
01:01:35And, oh, I'm doing a bit of brony research.
01:01:38There's some things that I don't know about the world of bronies.
01:01:42I guess I'm just a bit, I'm maybe a little worried that they're going to ask me some, like,
01:01:46crazy questions about the equestrian world that the ponies live in that I'm not going to
01:01:53know the answers to, which I don't really need to, but I feel like I really, I should.
01:01:59I think I'm definitely going to get asked to do a lot of pony voices tomorrow.
01:02:03Okay, that'll be my go-to line for tomorrow.
01:02:11It needs to be about 20% cooler.
01:02:14Bronies, you're going to have to work on your cool factor.
01:02:18So weird.
01:02:19Rainbow Dash Sparta Mix.
01:02:22Oh, this is going to be good.
01:02:23Let's try this.
01:02:30It's a whole, like, techno remix made from that one line that I say.
01:02:36Who is behind all of this?
01:02:40The bronies.
01:02:41They're behind it.
01:02:46Who makes these videos?
01:02:49Oh, man.
01:02:51Okay, I'm over it.
01:02:52Let's go get pizza.
01:03:09Time set.
01:03:10Time square.
01:03:15Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
01:03:194

01:05:31Ich war immer außerhalb.
01:05:33Du musst wissen, was du dir helfen.
01:06:30So we are on our way to Bronycon.
01:06:36It is 9.30?
01:06:38I think it might be a little after 9.30.
01:06:40We're a little late.
01:06:42Um, it's an exciting time.
01:06:45Alright, Bronycon.
01:06:46Alright, Bronycon.
01:06:47Here we go.
01:06:48Bronycon.
01:06:49We'll do it.
01:06:50It's a wonderful thing.
01:06:51We'll be right back tomorrow.

01:10:35I'm by no means like in charge of what they say or do on the show, but I'm kind of, I'm giving them, I'm giving you life.
01:10:43I'm giving them, you know, a voice.
01:10:49Presents! Yay!
01:10:55It's Applejack and Rainbow Dash singing together.
01:10:59And it looks like they're recording a pony script.
01:11:01Dear Ashley, thank you for bringing an edge to My Little Pony.
01:11:05You rock.
01:11:07A conch shell.
01:11:09Piggy's got the conch.
01:11:10And oh, with a note inside of it.
01:11:13Your new shell phone.
01:11:17I have an incoming call for a Miss Atlantic Ocean.
01:11:21She wants to say hello.
01:11:23Will you accept?
01:11:25Hello?
01:11:27Yeah, I guess I feel like I'm a part of something.
01:11:30I'm a part of this movement.
01:11:31Like, I'm not a brony, but I'm a part of these people's lives because I voice these characters.
01:11:43Yeah, before I left for this convention, I really wasn't sure what I was getting myself into.
01:11:49Um, I was a little nervous.
01:11:52I was, I wasn't quite sure what to expect and who these people were, like, who are bronies.
01:11:59I'd had a couple interactions in the past, but not at this capacity at all.
01:12:04To get this response from any group of people is incredible, and it just happens to be that this particular group of people are mostly grown men
01:12:15who are doing this series about girl ponies, which is pretty bizarre when you think about it.
01:12:22But at the same time, they're not doing anything, they're not doing anything wrong.
01:12:27And they found each other.
01:12:28And I think it's, it's an honor to be a part of that.
01:12:32Yeah, it's, it's, it's the beginning of something.
01:12:35It, it could fizzle out.
01:12:36Things like this have happened before.
01:12:37There's a, there's a big rising tide.
01:12:39There's a force, and then it doesn't go anywhere because nothing picks up the torch.
01:12:42And I really hope that something comes along that will do that, because this is not self-sustaining.
01:12:45It can't carry on forever.
01:12:47But it has so much potential to just shape the way that we think about things and make it be like,
01:12:53oh, well, maybe it's just, if something is good, that we can like it.
01:12:55People like to think that it's just a TV show, you know, it's not that big of a deal.
01:12:59And at the end of the day, maybe that's all it is, you know, it's just a small footprint in history.
01:13:03But so many people's lives have been bettered by it.
01:13:05I think, I think the best part about being a brony is that it just really is, you know,
01:13:09like it's more than a fandom, it's more than a community.
01:13:11It really is like a big family.
01:13:13Not about my little ponies, but friendship is magic, you know what I mean?
01:13:17And about that sense of solidarity, a sense of community, and all those different things
01:13:21that really bring people together under a really wonderful umbrella.
01:13:27It's not cynical.
01:13:28That it's just this positive oasis in a sea of sarcasm and cynicism in modern society.
01:13:35The characters are well-developed.
01:13:37They try to accomplish goals.
01:13:39If they fail, they learn from their mistakes, they move on.
01:13:42It doesn't become this big, you know, ironic to-do.
01:13:46Give bronies the benefit of the doubt that they're all good people.
01:13:52That like a kid's show for what it is.
01:13:57They aren't weird, deviant, you know, people.
01:14:03All they are, are people who like a cartoon show.
01:14:07That's it.
01:14:08You've noticed how big the fan base has gotten so far.
01:14:11My question is, how much bigger do you think it's going to get, and for how long?
01:14:17As long as My Little Pony exists, there will be bronies.
