00:00:00One of my friends called me on Skype one day and said hey have you seen this show and I'm like no she's like well it's called My Little Pony Friendship is Magic and it's the internet is raving about it you've got to see this show it's so good and I was like my little pony my little pony like isn't that like a show for little girls and she's like yeah yeah yeah but it's great it's great trust me I watch it for a little bit and I think huh this isn't too bad so I put on another one
00:00:30and another one and another one the characters would speak and they would end up with a smile and I would smile back at them because it was just it was such a good it was such a little thing but it would make my day just to see them smile it teaches so many good things and next thing I know I was kind of leaning forward into my monitor and I was like this this show is amazing and I thought maybe I'm the only one who knows about this maybe I should start telling people after at some point I was like wait a second
00:00:59my little pony I am getting excited about my little pony and so she's like okay so are you a brony I'm like well what's that and she's like there's this huge movement of you know guys you know in high school and college that are just so into the show and they're going to cons and they're like making music and you know art and so she's like are you would you call yourself a brony would you you know be willing to like just check out more of this stuff and I'm like
00:01:29yeah yeah I call myself a brony
00:01:32yeah it was then that I became a brony
00:01:35I'm a brony
00:01:36I'm a brony
00:01:37and that's when I knew that I was a brony
00:01:39I want to become a brony
00:01:41and I am a brony
00:01:42I'm a brony too
00:01:44another disturbing trend
00:01:46yes
00:01:46bronies
00:01:47grown men
00:01:48who love my little ponies
00:01:50I think I asked if they were gay
00:01:52old men like pedophiles
00:01:54it's a little mind boggling
00:01:56more flamboyant
00:01:57I dress as like a girl
00:01:58that's pretty weird
00:01:59creeps
00:02:00I've never watched a single episode of my little pony
00:02:04there's definitely sexual deviancy involved
00:02:06creepy
00:02:07there are worse hobbies for a young lad to have like you know terrorism
00:02:11am I wrong
00:02:12I don't know that's on the edge
00:02:14pretty twisted
00:02:15this this phenomenon of brony conventions clearly was foretold in the book of revelation
00:02:20this is it we are toast
00:02:23it is over please get those pictures off of my show
00:02:27for one to fully comprehend this pony fascination let me first sum up the previous of pony generations
00:02:55generation one appeared on tv in the 80s
00:02:58it was made to sell toys plots were hardly very weighty
00:03:00and generation two I do not mean to grouse and gripe but these characters fell right into the girly stereotypes
00:03:06and generation three is just too awful and too tragic
00:03:10so let's jump to number four
00:03:13where friendship is magic
00:03:16all the characters compelling and the stellar storytelling and the lovely animation brought about great dedication
00:03:24this is where we meet the bronies
00:03:27where they like my little pony
00:03:28yes the bros enjoy the ponies
00:03:30so let's go and meet the bronies
00:03:31I love flying
00:03:46the airport is my second home
00:03:48it's my greatest passion
00:03:50because it adds a third dimension to your life
00:03:53people who limit themselves to the ground are missing out a lot
00:03:58because the world is just completely different up there and it's just total freedom
00:04:03what I'd usually be doing right now is grabbing my friend Chris and Ethan
00:04:10and we'll just go out to a local pizza joint
00:04:13we'll just go be teenagers
00:04:15we just eat there and then we'll go to walmart
00:04:19that's the thing we'll do around here
00:04:20just go to walmart
00:04:21that's considered a hot date around this area
00:04:24the rednecks will take their girlfriends to walmart
00:04:26and this is one of the only places I can come and buy pony merch
00:04:29I have a friend in there
00:04:32he lets me know when this stuff comes in
00:04:35I'm waiting to receive a text for that white Celestia
00:04:38I'm excited for her
00:04:40it's fun to drive a Mercedes
00:04:47because you're usually the only one that has one
00:04:49especially an old one like this one
00:04:51I get a lot of weird looks from the redneck
00:04:53because they're expecting me to be driving a big truck
00:04:56or I'm supposed to be competing with them somehow
00:04:59and I don't see the fun in that
00:05:01my first exposure to my little pony was in an internet video collaboration
00:05:07and this guy he had created a collaboration of the good shows
00:05:11that got a start in 2010
00:05:13and I saw the ponies on there
00:05:16and I just couldn't get them out of my head
00:05:18like something just caught my eye about him
00:05:20I don't know why
00:05:21so I figured I'll give him a chance
00:05:23I gave it a shot and I was hooked
00:05:25Spike, take a note please
00:05:28I, Princess Celestia
00:05:30hereby decree that the unicorn Twilight Sparkle
00:05:34shall take on a new mission for Equestria
00:05:37she must continue to study the magic of friendship
00:05:39she must report to me her findings
00:05:42from her new home in Ponyville
00:05:45thank you Princess Celestia
00:05:50I'll study harder than ever before
00:05:52I was like
00:05:57no there's no way I'm watching this little girl show
00:05:59I can't be liking this
00:06:01you know that's
00:06:01that's not right
00:06:03you know
00:06:03but something about it just kept me coming to it
00:06:05the show itself of course is about the magic of friendship
00:06:08hence friendship is magic
00:06:10and what really speaks to me as a grown man is
00:06:13that these characters are so deep and in-depth and complicated
00:06:17while they each portray an element of harmony
00:06:20spirits of the elements of harmony are right here
00:06:23honesty
00:06:25loyalty
00:06:26laughter
00:06:27kindness
00:06:28generosity
00:06:30when those elements are ignited by the
00:06:32the spark
00:06:33that resides in the heart of us all
00:06:35it creates the sixth element
00:06:37the element of
00:06:38magic
00:06:39I wanted to have a show about six
00:06:43characters, six girls, six ponies
00:06:45who were friends with one another
00:06:48I already wanted Princess Celestia
00:06:50I already wanted Twilight to be her student who was displaced
00:06:54I had her in Mork and Mindy style
00:06:57write letters surmising what she learned about friendship
00:07:00at the end of the episode
00:07:02Dear Princess Celestia
00:07:03this adventure has taught me to never lose faith in your friends
00:07:07they can be an amazing source of strength
00:07:09and can help you overcome even your greatest fears
00:07:12always your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle
00:07:18I'm one of those people who can be attached to objects
00:07:32particularly one which I had which was a toy aircraft carrier
00:07:36because I always thought it was just cool and it was my favorite toy for a while
00:07:41eventually got yard sale and I got over it
00:07:45obviously because I have to grow up
00:07:47I mean I can't I can't be like 50 or something and like all alone in my house
00:07:52with just a toy aircraft carrier going yes
00:07:55this I'm probably never gonna sell
00:07:58Lyle is very creative, very artistic
00:08:01he enjoys building with Lego
00:08:04he enjoys games on the computer
00:08:07such as the Minecraft, Halo, that kind of thing
00:08:11Lyle is an excellent shot
00:08:13he's when it comes to target shooting
00:08:15he's got me beat by a long shot
00:08:18Before I watched the show
00:08:20I was kind of sad and lonely
00:08:23and then when I did watch the show
00:08:26it opened up to this huge community
00:08:28because the community is just so accepting
00:08:30and it's just a really great thing
00:08:33it's not a show that you'd expect a lot of people my age and older to watch
00:08:38the show does help teach a lot of life lessons
00:08:41there's almost any episode that can help with almost any situation
00:08:45all this time
00:08:47if we just told each other the truth
00:08:49I promise never to keep my feelings a secret again
00:08:52me too
00:08:53cross my heart and hope to fly
00:08:55stick a cupcake in my eye
00:08:57since I've started watching the show
00:09:00I also feel like I can put up with a lot of situations
00:09:02way better than I could have before
00:09:04he said what would you think mom
00:09:06if I said I really liked my little pony
00:09:08and he'd been joking about this for a long time
00:09:10I was talking about how it was a good show
00:09:12but her initial reaction was a bit like
00:09:14I said I'd be worried about you Lyle
00:09:17it made me kind of nervous
00:09:19like she wouldn't really accept it
00:09:21if I was serious
00:09:23I didn't think he was serious
00:09:25and so I told her it was a joke
00:09:27I was very nervous about my dad finding out
00:09:30he might be thinking that I'm gay
00:09:32or a man child or something
00:09:35the community has kind of exploded into
00:09:38you know musicians and artists and animators
00:09:42and all these people getting behind the show
00:09:44that they use the content from the show
00:09:46and build off that
00:09:47I remember discovering the show about
00:09:54I think a healthy year ago
00:09:56the show really brought me all this inspiration to create music
00:10:00I discovered that making remixes about the show was a popular thing
00:10:05the chorus is a bit messy right now
00:10:20it's kind of like messy at the moment
00:10:25every week I composed something new
00:10:30people got to know that you know I make music
00:10:33and I was like oh this is the living tombstone
00:10:35let's check another stuff they made this week
00:10:37and then turns out people developed even parody videos
00:10:40with clips from the show
00:10:41here we go
00:10:43Mr. Anderson
00:10:54surprised to see me?
00:10:56so now he's found a way to copy himself
00:10:58now there's more than one of them
00:11:00a lot more
00:11:02when I converse with other brownies it's usually around you know
00:11:14stuff like Skype or around forums
00:11:16I remember talking to one of the biggest pony musicians
00:11:19he goes by the name Alex Sass
00:11:21and he was like
00:11:22dude you gotta make a remix of one of the songs from the show
00:11:25and I remember that you know I said okay fine I'll do that
00:11:28I mean I took one of the songs from the show
00:11:30I remember it was winter I thought
00:11:37this one was having lots of views
00:11:391,000 views 2,000 views
00:11:4020,000 views
00:11:41my YouTube page
00:11:43it's kind of funny to see myself like
00:11:45becoming one of the most subscribed people
00:11:53I feel sometimes very lonely
00:11:54because I seem to be one of the only Israeli brownies
00:11:57the show itself is extremely well done
00:12:01the art is fantastic
00:12:03the writing is wonderful
00:12:04and the voice acting is just impeccable
00:12:08I met Lauren Faust at Cartoon Network and I liked her the moment I met her
00:12:23she was creative and smart and insightful and had real clear vision of what she wanted on different things and
00:12:29Lauren called me up one day and asked me if I had played with My Little Pony Toys' little girl
00:12:34of course I did
00:12:35I had every pony
00:12:36I had every sticker
00:12:37and she said it's been her dream to have her vision of My Little Pony be on the air
00:12:44and could she come over and show me some stuff
00:12:46and I said sure
00:12:47so we actually went upstairs to My Little Studio
00:12:49Dear Princess Celestia
00:12:51and I recorded Twilight Sparkle for her and Pinkie Pie
00:12:54and I think it was either Rainbow Dash or Applejack
00:12:57for just the pitch
00:12:58she did say that Pinkie Pie was you know party girl and really happy
00:13:02and she wanted sort of high pitched really silly girl
00:13:06girly girl
00:13:07and that she wanted Twilight to be a little bit more serious
00:13:11still likable
00:13:12she's sort of the leader of the ponies
00:13:14and book smart
00:13:16and a little bit nerdy
00:13:18but still someone you'd want to hang out with
00:13:21and knowing that she had to be you know bookish
00:13:24but still cute
00:13:25and it's right in that pocket where it's like
00:13:27Dear Princess Celestia
00:13:29Today I learned
00:13:31and then she'll talk about whatever it was about her
00:13:33friendship lesson of the day
00:13:35Your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle
00:13:37Once she heard my Twilight
00:13:39she's like oh my gosh
00:13:41you're Twilight
00:13:42that's my twi
00:13:43My Little Pony Friendship is Magic
00:13:45is about a bunch of tiny little cute little herbivores
00:13:50that are facing down these titanic personified evils
00:13:53and I think some days we all feel like that
00:13:58we all feel like we're just a little small thing
00:14:01facing down these huge forces that are greater than us
00:14:06Animals I find much more like easier when I'm trying to relax
00:14:21or like you know cool down from talking with a lot of people
00:14:25They don't have any sort of major demands
00:14:32not emotional demands anyway
00:14:34so I feel like they're much easier to understand, interact with
00:14:39When I took him from his three year assessment
00:14:43I was talking to the health visitor and Daniel was behind me
00:14:46and she said to me does he always do that
00:14:49and I turned round and he'd lined all the chairs up in the room
00:14:54right really straight all the way across the room
00:14:57which he did with everything
00:14:58his toys, video
00:15:00he used to make a video
00:15:01a line from the telly
00:15:03all the way into the kitchen with videos
00:15:06and anything he used to line up
00:15:08and so I said yes he always does that
00:15:10and she said I think we need to have a talk
00:15:12and he was diagnosed with Asperger's
00:15:22Having Asperger's is, I really can't explain it
00:15:26It's basically not being able to understand
00:15:28maybe people's emotions at a time
00:15:30or understand why someone would do something
00:15:33on an emotional level
00:15:35Are they sad? Are they happy? Are they angry?
00:15:38Something like that is very difficult for someone with Asperger's usually
00:15:42Daniel first told me about six months ago
00:15:46I was thinking oh I like this show
00:15:49I want pony stuff
00:15:51how am I going to get about getting them
00:15:52without telling them anything about it
00:15:55so I sort of just sat my mother down and said
00:15:58okay I'm going to tell you something a bit weird
00:16:00and I thought oh my god what is it
00:16:03and he says I really like this programme
00:16:06I want you to watch it don't say anything just watch it
00:16:09No distractions
00:16:12I was thinking oh my god why does he like this
00:16:16and after it had finished I thought well
00:16:18yeah I can see why he likes it
00:16:21and I thought he's going to get obsessed with this
00:16:23as soon as I saw it I knew that he would be obsessed with it
00:16:26The ponies I would most relate to would probably be Twilight
00:16:29because she gets very freaked out when elements don't go her way
00:16:33I mean I can see a lot of him in some of the characters
00:16:36and so I thought I bet he can see himself in a lot of the characters
00:16:40If something she's trying to achieve goes out of her control
00:16:43or she fails at she gets very anxious or agitated or very stressed out
00:16:48or she has a mental psychological breakdown and goes crazy
00:16:52It looks like some ponies getting themselves all worked up over nothing
00:16:55This is not nothing this is everything
00:16:58I need you guys to help me find some pony with a problem I can fix before sundown
00:17:02My whole life depends on it
00:17:05I can see obsessive and not coping with certain situations
00:17:12and I was wondering on the episodes I've watched
00:17:17whether perhaps one of the script writers were
00:17:20or knew somebody with Asperger's
00:17:22because it was so similar
00:17:24It's so similar
00:17:37It's all in the last year
00:17:39I saw photos of my little pony on 4chan
00:17:42and I saw pictures of my little pony
00:17:44I found them very nice and liked them
00:17:46I liked them
00:17:47I saw the games in the games
00:17:51and saw them
00:17:53and watched them
00:17:54and watched them
00:17:55and watched them
00:17:56and watched them
00:17:57after the meetup
00:17:58after the meetup
00:17:59I found them
00:18:01who lived in my area
00:18:03and decided
00:18:04to go there
00:18:05and then I got a call
00:18:07from the Asu-Katze
00:18:08because I had my telephone number
00:18:10in the forum
00:18:11It was at the airport
00:18:13there was a meeting
00:18:14and I had cupcakes
00:18:15because it was my job
00:18:17for the meeting
00:18:19and then I was going to mix them
00:18:21And then I moved to them
00:18:22and then I had to
00:18:23pick up Ben
00:18:24and then a meeting
00:18:25and then I was just
00:18:26actually on the front
00:18:27and that was
00:18:28then actually
00:18:29so much
00:18:30and then
00:18:31I had to wait
00:18:32until they came
00:18:33and they then
00:18:34were then
00:18:35they had to
00:18:36sell them
00:18:37and then I made them
00:18:38and then i saw them
00:18:39they did
00:18:40and made them
00:18:41and then I looked at them
00:18:42and then I saw them
00:18:43the first time
00:18:44was the appearance
00:18:45and then I knocked
00:19:53ein Physikal-Notepad.
00:19:54Ich schreibe alles in die Song,
00:19:57das ich mit der Song associate.
00:19:59Ich höre die Sad-Den-Den,
00:20:01ich denke, wie es der Violin ist,
00:20:02ich denke, wie das, das, das.
00:20:03Ich schreibe alles.
00:20:05Und dann habe ich ein Papier mit Worten,
00:20:09die ich dann ausfüllen und mache eine Geschichte.
00:20:11Ich schreibe die Charaktere aus,
00:20:13die Charaktere aus der Show.
00:20:15Ich schreibe sie mit den Objekten.
00:20:17Ich schreibe sie mit den Emotionen.
00:20:19Und in dieser Art,
00:20:21ich schreibe eine sehr, sehr thine Story-Line.
00:20:23Dann, ich schreibe einige Frames,
00:20:25die Test-Frames,
00:20:26zu sehen, ob es,
00:20:28die Framerate nicht so gut fällt,
00:20:30wie die Framerate nicht so gut fällt.
00:20:32Und dann, ich schreibe die Show.
00:20:34Und dann, mein Mind geht es sich selbst.
00:20:36Ja, du!
00:20:38Aber du bist!
00:20:39Es braucht viel Precision, viel Arbeit.
00:20:42Du musst sicher, dass die 3 Laserbeams,
00:20:44die in der Projektor,
00:20:46die mit einem Beamer,
00:20:48die sich mit einem Beamer,
00:20:49sind perfekt überlappend.
00:20:50For example,
00:20:51ein White Laserbeam,
00:20:52das ist,
00:20:53man sieht es als White,
00:20:55aber es ist eigentlich
00:20:563 separate Laserbeams,
00:20:57einfach nur tightly spaced zusammen.
00:20:59So, jeder kleine Missalignung
00:21:01wird die Unterschiede
00:21:02und die Zuschauer wird es sehen.
00:21:04Die Elemente of Harmony
00:21:06spielen eine Rolle in meinem Leben.
00:21:07Ich denke,
00:21:08Generosity spielt eine wichtige Rolle.
00:21:10Das ist eine große Rolle.
00:21:12Das ist eine große Rolle.
00:21:13Das macht's für andere Menschen,
00:21:14für free,
00:21:15das macht's mir eine große Gefühl,
00:21:16dass die Leute
00:21:17das ich mag, was ich tun.
00:21:18Ich war hier,
00:21:20ich war hier.
00:21:21I was just sitting here, I was just living day to day, you know, in the house, you know, just trying to get by, doing work for my father here and there, and I didn't really have anything to look forward to, just, you know, to see the sunset, and that was it, you know, it would go to the next day.
00:21:40As soon as ponies came into my life, I was like, wow, I never want the day to end, you know, it's just such a positive outlook on things, and now I have something to look forward to.
00:21:50Here we have a strong stereotyping that if you aren't extremely masculine and chauvinistic, then you're homosexual, and in this area, homosexuality is also looked down upon, so I guess it comes hand in hand that if you watch a show that's a target audience with children and small girls, then suddenly maybe you're homosexual, and then it's a reason to hate you.
00:22:13If you choose to be a brony in the Appalachian Mountains, you're going to have problems, you might get beat up, you could get cussed at, you could get things thrown at you, it's not an easy thing.
00:22:25One night, there was a few rednecks standing around my car, there was a truck in front of my car, behind it, so I couldn't move, and they had tire irons, baseball bats.
00:22:37I had just got custom decals from my windows, on my back window, I had a large Celestia and a large Luna, and they were kneeling up together, forming a archway, and it was just the coolest thing.
00:22:50And they went right to my back window, hit it a few times, and then, you know, smashed it.
00:22:56This guy, he ran to his truck and came back out with his rifle he had been hunting with.
00:23:02I got pretty scared at that point, and, you know, he was playfully aiming it at me, like, you know, you gotta stop this pony, you little gay, girly shit, you know, and, uh,
00:23:12so he pointed it right at me, and I was, I, I freaked out, you know, I slammed the car in reverse, and, you know, just managed to get the whole side of this car, just bashed up, and then I come home, and then, of course, my father saw the damage to the car, and he was, uh, he was a little angry, and I just had to explain to him, like, oh, I ran off the road or something, you know, to try to cover it up.
00:23:42We were asked to make a two-part special, and I wanted it to be a great big story.
00:23:51We had this opportunity for a new villain, so we created Discord, and when we were writing the character, and we were, we were pitching our, um, our premise to, to our bosses at Hasbro and the Hub, you know, we were telling him he's like a trickster kind of character.
00:24:07They were a little uncertain at first until, uh, I said, he's like Q from Star Trek.
00:24:16Then they were like, oh, can we get John DeLancey?
00:24:19Keep trying, Twilight Sparkle. Maybe the magic of friendship can help you.
00:24:24Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some chaos to wreak.
00:24:27I think the bronies like Discord because he's naughty, you know, and they're guys.
00:24:33And I was looking at, uh, Greek mythological characters like chimeras and, um, uh, manticores.
00:24:41I wanted all of his body parts to be from a different animal so that he's, he's not harmonious.
00:24:48Oh, this again.
00:24:50My first introduction to My Little Pony was I got a call from my agent saying that you have a, a job.
00:25:02And I read the material. It was very good.
00:25:04I went in. I knocked it off and completely forgot about it.
00:25:09Three months later, I go down to my computer and I open it up and there must be, I don't know, three or four hundred emails.
00:25:18And they all say, uh, My Little Pony.
00:25:20And I'm, and I, I call up to my wife and I said, what do you know about My Little Pony?
00:25:24And she said, well, you had voiced it about three months ago.
00:25:27I completely forgot about that.
00:25:29And, um, she says, it's a program for little girls.
00:25:33I said, well, let me tell you, these aren't little girls that are writing me.
00:25:37There's a number of reasons people love him.
00:25:40I think they were excited by how epic that episode was.
00:25:55It was definitely not a typical little girls show.
00:25:58None of this would be possible without the internet, but bronies now are starting to get together.
00:26:04At first at meetups and then conventions, Germany, England, and the biggest convention, BronyCon.
00:26:14So when I heard about BronyCon coming up, I decided that I really wanted to go.
00:26:19So I came up with this plan with one of my friends.
00:26:23If I am willing to pay for the hotel room, he and his dad would drive me up and pay for meals.
00:26:29So I told my parents that I wanted to take a trip with one of my friends.
00:26:33They weren't really keen on the idea.
00:26:35They don't really trust me as far as money goes and whatnot.
00:26:38So they insisted that they go if I'm going to go at all.
00:26:45So they kept asking questions, and I eventually told them it was a Comic-Con.
00:26:51So then that just got them more excited, and they were like, oh, well, who's going to be there?
00:26:54And I was like, well, I just kind of want to go with my friend.
00:26:56But yet I couldn't find anything online about it as a comic convention.
00:27:01Oh, no, my parents, they're going to find out.
00:27:06Then eventually my mom just, the curiosity got the better of her, and she looked it up online with all the information I'd given her.
00:27:12She found out about BronyCon, and she came downstairs to me one day with a smug look on her face,
00:27:17like asking me to elaborate, and I did.
00:27:21And then she told my dad.
00:27:24He's conservative.
00:27:25I guess that's the major word I would use to describe my husband, conservative.
00:27:36Well, it's not really a Comic-Con.
00:27:40She says, remember back in the 80s, My Pretty Pony?
00:27:47I went, yeah.
00:27:49She goes, it's like something to do with that.
00:27:52It's like, huh?
00:27:53My dad is very conservative.
00:27:56I don't know how my dad reacts to me being a Brony, because he's very quiet about it.
00:28:11One thing for sure regarding the convention, I'm nervous because of many things.
00:28:16First of all, because there's so many people I want to meet.
00:28:19The big reason I'm coming to BronyCon is that I really want to have, like, one moment in my life to talk to the people I've been talking to all this time.
00:28:28I'm really afraid that there's going to be, like, live performing in front of the audience, because it's kind of a shy person, so I have no idea what's going to happen.
00:28:40Maybe have a stage fight or something.
00:28:42I never performed live at all, so hopefully I'm not going to mess up.
00:28:48When I first get there, like, when I'm driving in, I'm going to be seeing them all walking in there, and I'm like, oh, man, this is going to be, like, almost going to, like, a rock concert for your favorite band.
00:28:58I was like, oh, man, this is going to be so pumped.
00:29:00All right, we're going to New York.
00:29:02That's the money.
00:29:03The first convention ever held for Brony's, there were only 100 people, and the current one, it's going to hit its cap of 4,000.
00:29:11It's become a global phenomenon.
00:29:13Well, I'm leaving early in the morning for Buck.
00:29:16Now there are dozens of conventions just in the United States alone, dozens more in Europe.
00:29:24I first saw the convention on Equestria Daily, I think.
00:29:29They were talking about a British BronyCon UK.
00:29:33I saw that and thought, brilliant, I don't have to travel to America.
00:29:37So I definitely decided straight away I've got to go to that convention.
00:29:40He wouldn't have considered going to a convention about something before.
00:29:46The pony convention, I'm going to see people.
00:29:50See, yes, that's very ironic, because I wouldn't normally go to a convention to see people.
00:29:54He's organized everything himself.
00:29:56I haven't organized anything.
00:29:57He wanted to do it all himself, so, yeah, I think he's looking forward to it.
00:30:02Well, I plan on getting to the convention by taking an hour train ride to Manchester.
00:30:07This is from getting from the train station to the Bridgewater Hall, where the BronyCon UK is being posted.
00:30:13I don't think I'd be comfortable asking people for directions.
00:30:16During my trip, I'm trying to cut down as much interaction with people as possible.
00:30:20If I was in a large crowd, probably paranoia would be quite like, I'm sort of very aware of people around me, because I'm very paranoid about these sort of things, like, oh, that guy's a mugger or something.
00:30:34The things Daniel will face that I think he'll find very hard are the train station.
00:30:40Stafford won't be too bad, but when he gets to Manchester, it's going to be very crowded, which he's going to find quite hard.
00:30:45Walking through, yeah, a general area such as Manchester, I get a little jittery, I start shaking a bit more, maybe.
00:30:54I would tend to want to rush, like, get places faster.
00:30:58You've got to be anxious, because it's not a new environment, but it's a different environment.
00:31:03People walking around, doing different things in, yeah, an environment I can't control.
00:32:23He knows that.
00:32:24Ja, genau das Gleiche.
00:32:26Verrücktheit nochmal.
00:32:28Crazy.
00:32:29Haben sich gesucht und gefunden, beide.
00:32:30Ja, zwei crazy persons found each other.
00:32:33Ja.
00:32:38I told my wife, no way, just say no.
00:32:43I think if my dad was to meet someone at BronyCon, if he met someone with similar interests
00:32:47from the same culture he's used to and the same generation, um, it would just help to bridge
00:32:55the gap between him and this strange new culture shock.
00:32:59Probably see people with purple and pink hair and, I don't know, satin pink costumes.
00:33:06If only I could get my dad to watch the show, he could understand and things would be so
00:33:10much better.
00:33:11I'm not interested in watching My Little Pony.
00:33:13So this is the people lining up.
00:33:38We predict about a thousand to get their early registration.
00:33:43My friend Donna did my nails up for me with her cutie mark.
00:34:01Took, uh, two trains to meet up with, uh, some other bronies and then we carpooled over
00:34:05here.
00:34:06So the total travel time would be about seven hours.
00:34:08I love the songs.
00:34:09And the culture around the show is amazing.
00:34:12I'm in particular looking forward to seeing and hearing Lauren Faust.
00:34:16John Delancey.
00:34:17I am so glad that he decided to voice Discord because no pony else could have done it better
00:34:23than him.
00:34:24There's harmony present among all the bronies here.
00:34:28There's just positive energy because everyone realizes that they're among friends here.
00:34:35It doesn't matter now if you are sad or blue because cheering up my friends is just what Pinky's here to do.
00:34:59The part that I thought was so unusual about Brony Khan was the sense of spirit.
00:35:12Are you coming in?
00:35:13Woo!
00:35:13This was a big convention.
00:35:164,000 people who had the sense that they were being part of something that was unique.
00:35:22It was the spirit of that convention that was so attractive.
00:35:27Uh, the reason I brought my sister to Brony Khan was because I felt that she'd be the kind
00:35:32of person who would understand this sort of thing.
00:35:34And he can't drive.
00:35:35That's another reason.
00:35:36There's just like a whole bunch of really, really happy emotions.
00:35:41There's so many people dressed in fantastic outfits.
00:35:48It's just jaw-dropping.
00:35:50You also get to meet the original voice cast.
00:35:54You get to see what they think of the Brony culture.
00:35:57And they are shocked by how many people have come here today.
00:36:00How important are these cons like Brony Khan and the other ones that are emerging for the
00:36:04Brony culture?
00:36:05I think they're very important.
00:36:07They've served multiple functions in the Brony community.
00:36:09For one thing, they provide an opportunity for people who might not ordinarily be able to
00:36:14socialize without the Brony's to do so in a non-threatening environment where no one's
00:36:19going to look at you funny if you're wearing a Fluttershy shirt and you're a 35-year-old
00:36:22guy with a beard.
00:36:23And that's really important.
00:36:25A lot of people need to be able to express their enjoyment of the show in a non-judgmental
00:36:30environment.
00:36:31There's more to it than just ponies.
00:36:34And people think it's just ponies and all for girls, but it's really not.
00:36:37It's about friendship and having a good time and it's pretty much what everybody's doing
00:36:40right now here.
00:36:41I really love the characters because they're relatable to everyone and they have some depth,
00:36:48so it's not like they're just stereotypes.
00:36:50So you have dates over my life?
00:36:52We have a date every Saturday at one o'clock.
00:36:54Yep.
00:36:55If you had spoken to me a year ago that I would be at a convention for a show for little girls,
00:37:07I would have laughed at your face.
00:37:09I would have just laughed at you and just walked away.
00:37:11As a woman, do you feel like you're in the minority here?
00:37:14I feel like I'm in the minority, but I also don't feel like it's like where most minorities
00:37:21kind of feel suppressed.
00:37:22It's like, oh, there's less of us, but it's not a bad thing.
00:37:26Are you still open any guys up?
00:37:28Not right now.
00:37:29I mean, you know, I'm here for the ponies.
00:37:38And now I'm here, 900 miles, the biggest con.
00:37:41Four times the population of my town is in this building.
00:37:44Wow.
00:37:50When I was diagnosed with cancer, he kept visiting me in the hospital and he showed me the show.
00:37:55It helps me feel happy and the most important thing when you're sick is to feel happy so that you get better.
00:38:01And it just helps so much.
00:38:10Let the chaos begin.
00:38:19This isn't just a fad.
00:38:21This isn't just an internet phenomenon anymore.
00:38:24That was part of the reason why I started Berniecon.
00:38:26I realized this is a community that deserves a real world presence.
00:38:31It deserves what the Star Trek fans and the sci-fi people and the anime fans have.
00:38:36It deserves a robust convention scene and now it has one.
00:38:40It didn't take long to bump into the few members of the Knoxville Barney group here and I'm going to hang out with them today.
00:38:55Bringing these people together is what the show has accomplished.
00:38:59It's very exciting and really, really cool that my dad is okay with this kind of thing.
00:39:08Because My Little Pony is like, there's nothing violent about it.
00:39:13There's nothing wrong with it.
00:39:14It's a cartoon that people enjoy for good reason.
00:39:18My son was hell-bent on going.
00:39:31My wife, she told me one day, she goes, well, I'll take him.
00:39:35And I said, are you serious?
00:39:37You're going to go?
00:39:38Yeah, I'll go.
00:39:39And I said, okay, fine.
00:39:42Then after a while, I know she didn't want to do that trip.
00:39:47So I feel like I got roped into it.
00:39:50How do I wear this?
00:39:52You got to put this trick behind your head.
00:39:54Yeah.
00:39:55Okay.
00:39:56Yeah, put that down a little bit.
00:39:58I got an email from a young man named Lyle, who said that his father was very conservative.
00:40:05And he was concerned about coming to the convention.
00:40:08And he wanted me to meet his father.
00:40:10This is my wife.
00:40:11Hi.
00:40:12I'm John.
00:40:13Nice to meet you.
00:40:14This is all a little overwhelming, isn't it?
00:40:17Yeah.
00:40:18So should we go in and start taking a look?
00:40:21Because we're going to see this sort of through your eyes.
00:40:23And actually through all of our eyes, okay?
00:40:26Uh-oh.
00:40:27I decided that maybe we could have a surprise for Lyle's father.
00:40:34And that is that he could meet another father.
00:40:37A father of a young man who was also a Brony.
00:40:40And this father actually did know all about BronyCon and wanted to bring his son to it.
00:40:45And we thought it would be very interesting to have these two fathers get together and talk.
00:40:49Tom, Michael, Michael, Lyle, Michael, this is Hayden.
00:40:54Do you have any trepidations about coming here?
00:40:57No.
00:40:59I know when I first found out, I was like, you watch what?
00:41:04You know, it's pretty much a little girl's thing.
00:41:06And I was like, what?
00:41:07But, you know, my son, he said, you know, Dad, before you think about this, you know, let me explain why.
00:41:14So he explained it to me and he actually got me to look at some stuff.
00:41:17My son has always never been one who follows the crowd.
00:41:21You know, that's one thing I always like about him.
00:41:23He's an individual, which is sometimes hard for him.
00:41:26And I know it's hard for Brony's that they get picked on at school, just all around.
00:41:31A lot of them don't like to tell people that they're Brony's because of that, especially when they're younger.
00:41:36My son still has concerns about what other people may think.
00:41:41So I expect he's not going to be buying a pink hooded sweatshirt at this convention.
00:41:46My son has friends that he's a little hesitant to even tell them.
00:41:50He had other friends.
00:41:51He's got a number of friends that are Brony's, too.
00:41:53The fact that my son came to me and he confided in me and felt that he was comfortable to say that,
00:41:58I think that's a good thing.
00:41:59And I think you should take that as a good thing that your son has that relationship where he,
00:42:03you know, he took a chance and discussed it with you or you found out one or the other.
00:42:08I found out through my wife.
00:42:10My son was hesitant to mention it to me himself.
00:42:15I have great sympathy for Lyle's father because his 16-year-old boy wants to watch a cartoon for little girls.
00:42:22I also understand the fact that he was willing to go with his son, which I thought was really quite wonderful on his part.
00:42:27And to walk into a world which was very different than the world that he's used to.
00:42:34They don't understand how lucky they are.
00:42:36My son isn't able to talk.
00:42:38He isn't able to walk.
00:42:39He isn't able to do any of the things that I expected him to be able to do.
00:42:44If he was a Brony, I would think that was amazing because he would be a sweet, understanding, compassionate boy
00:42:52that got that watching girl characters do awesome things is just as awesome as watching boy characters do awesome things.
00:43:00To people who feel that, you know, an adult man watching a show that's meant for little girls,
00:43:06that they think that that's wrong or that that's strange, I think I would say this.
00:43:09I would ask them, why do you think that's strange?
00:43:14And what about that makes you uncomfortable?
00:43:17As a society, I think our first reaction is to jump to the conclusion that there's something wrong with that.
00:43:23But I think that that's what needs to be changed.
00:43:26We need to allow men to be gentle and to be sensitive and to care about one another and not call them weak for caring.
00:43:35At BronyCon, there was a lunch just for people who were in the military and it was really amazing because close to 60 people showed up.
00:43:42Coming here and seeing so many other military bronies has just been really uplifting because as a brony, I just really felt isolated.
00:43:52You know, like I was the only one in the military and that it was so hard to be so excited about something I love so much and not be able to tell anyone.
00:43:59I'm going to a BronyCon, you know, I wanted to tell everyone.
00:44:02I wanted to tell my friends and my family, but my friends are all in the military and it's like, oh, I can't tell them because, you know, because of the way that the military in general, you know, would react.
00:44:17It's like, oh, you like a little girl show. Oh, well, you know, you must be, you know, feminine or gay or whatever.
00:44:23And it's like, you know, I want to just sit down and say, no, you know, watch the show, watch the animation and appreciate it for what it is and get past that.
00:44:32Because, I mean, are you so afraid of exposing yourself to something feminine that you're going to suddenly turn gay?
00:44:37Are you going to catch the gay by watching the show?
00:44:39The elements of harmony, you know, loyalty, kindness, generosity, magic, laughter, and honesty coincide with some of the army values of loyalty, duty, respect, self-service, honor, integrity, and personal courage.
00:44:53I was so excited to meet all these Bronies who serve in the military. I surprised them and I brought them autographed slap bracelets.
00:45:00One of the things that I think was really important for them to find out was that they were not alone.
00:45:12Thank you guys for everything you do. It's all very Twilight-licious of you.
00:45:16W-I-L-I-T-H-T
00:45:19And ain't no other ponies but a cow like me. I'm Twilight-licious!
00:45:24Yes you are!
00:45:31Though the broken pony fandom might simply seem absurd, true fans adore the show while others gallop to the herd.
00:45:37For hipster bronies watching Paso Ponies has appeal. Though first it seems ironic, soon enough it's very real.
00:45:43For moderates to start was humble, finding it through hype, when the bronies did invade their favorite forums and websites.
00:45:48And though first a little skeptical, these moderates inquired, and once they finally saw the show their love for it, caught fire.
00:45:54The core of the meetups and conventions that you see are the social groups that come to BronyCon and ever free.
00:46:00Yes, the moderates and hipsters are the big groups of the bronies. They're the dudes that are the bulk of all the men who like the ponies.
00:46:06What we did is we defined the brony family leaders and we also looked at the initial types of bronies.
00:46:17One of the things we wanted to really do was to look at some of the myths that people had about bronies.
00:46:23A lot of those stereotypes would say, you know, they're 30-year-old unemployed males who live in their parents' basements and watch cartoons all day.
00:46:31This was not the case, that in fact they are a highly educated group of heterosexual males.
00:46:37I'm a biologist. I work at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
00:46:42The average age is around 20.
00:46:44In the stressful environment that is college, it's a fun escape for me.
00:46:48The bronies tend to be open to new experiences, but they also tend to be more introverted.
00:46:55I'm a brony because the fandom creates a sense of security and acceptance in an uncertain and troublesome world.
00:47:02There are a group of bronies who are more extroverted and we call those the social bronies.
00:47:08I sometimes have taken to call them our evangelical bronies because these are the bronies who are out there trying to increase the herd.
00:47:17I'm a brony because this fandom is freaking incredible.
00:47:20We're bronies because it's a show about colorful ponies in a magical land of sunshine and rainbows.
00:47:26And awesome.
00:47:27The show breeds genuineness.
00:47:30When I realized they weren't being sarcastic or ironic, it was amazing.
00:47:33And that has actually really impacted me.
00:47:36And the fans, now it kind of belongs to them now.
00:47:40And they're making this movement and I think it's refreshing.
00:47:45I have watched all the episodes of My Little Pony, in part because when I'm interacting with the bronies, I like to know what they mean by terms like 20% cooler.
00:47:56Do you not like the color?
00:47:57The color's fine, just make it look cooler.
00:48:00Do you not like the shape?
00:48:01The shape's fine, just make the whole thing, you know, cooler.
00:48:05It needs to be about 20% cooler.
00:48:08We are post 9-11 with worrying about terrorism, worrying about aggression.
00:48:16And in a lot of respects, I believe that this is a flight from that, that it's a retreat to something which is happier, which stresses getting along with others, and is an escape from the worries that these young people are facing.
00:48:34My Little Pony Friendship is Magic is sort of letting them know that they're not alone.
00:48:40One of the other things that we did look at was what was the function of being a brony.
00:48:45The first one was a social function.
00:48:47The second function, and the one which surprised us the most, is that it's also served a guidance function, because cartoons are little parables, and we have begun to call this the WWPD factor, what would a pony do?
00:49:04It's a show that has actually created a community.
00:49:08I think it's a visceral thing that's happening here.
00:49:11I think it's a connect to the heart, and I think the show is a show of excellence.
00:49:16I think I made up stories right out of the gate.
00:49:19When I got my first pony toys, it was just the way I played, and I actually think that the way I played with ponies, with strawberry shortcake, with my stuffed animals, I look back now and I know that that's kind of where my creative
00:49:34mind started and what led me to writing stories for a living.
00:49:38There's something about the color combinations, the picture on their butt, their cutie mark, that just made my brain automatically start putting those puzzle pieces together and creating personalities for them.
00:49:50And then once I had my cast, I would put them in different areas of my room.
00:49:55So like my dresser drawer, I'd put the castle up on top of that, and that was the castle up on the mountain.
00:50:01With the cloud somewhere on my bed, and the whole bed was just like the expanse of where the pegasus lived.
00:50:07And my whole room would become the world that they lived in, and the stuffed animals I played with would be the creatures that they encountered.
00:50:16And I'd make up these adventure stories for them to go on.
00:50:21Creative Bronies are the final bunch you need to know, making music, art, and stories all inspired by the show.
00:50:36While counting down the days from season one to season two, the musicians wrote funky little songs like Pinky's Brew.
00:50:42The pony generators churn out many new OCs, and the artists put their art on Tumblr blogs for all to see.
00:50:48The writers pair their favorites, voicing charming little quips, and although they face some critics, they will go down with their ships.
00:50:54Their talent is their glory, ever-growing, never-stopping, from the music to the stories and the artwork and the clomping.
00:51:01Oh dear. But let's steer away from that one and get right back to the ponies, for creatives are the final bunch in the wacky world of bronies.
00:51:10Creatives, and moderates, and lastly, hipster bronies, are the groups that are quite proud to watch the show.
00:51:20My little pony!
00:51:25Hey!
00:51:30Forgetting some pony?
00:51:33It seems your little lessons left the fairer sex neglected.
00:51:38Well, when girls like little ponies, that's very much expected.
00:51:43Even so, you can't ignore these fillies' contributions.
00:51:47We're involved in brony culture, and we demand our inclusion.
00:51:52We attend all the conventions, create art and music too, discuss the show, talk on forums, everything that these dudes do!
00:52:00No, we're not bros, but we're bronies, though some prefer Pegasisters.
00:52:07And we also are creatives, moderates, and even hipsters.
00:52:13Well, there you have it. All the bronies. Anypony else I missed?
00:52:21Now, if it's all the same to you, class dismissed!
00:52:29Hey, how's it going?
00:52:30For Equestria Daily, we're worldwide. We constantly get fan music, fan art, fan stories.
00:52:36Hey!
00:52:37Seth, I have something for you!
00:52:38You have something for me?
00:52:39Yes! It's a huge fandom. We have musicians, we have artists, and they're all professionals.
00:52:46The music is amazing. We have a lot of fan fiction authors.
00:52:48There's a massive website dedicated specifically to fan fiction.
00:52:52In general, we're just, we love creating things, and we're good at it.
00:52:56I watched other artists on DeviantArt, and one of them had a journal featuring JJ, and they're like, oh, check out his art, he's really good.
00:53:06So I went and I checked him out, and I was like, oh my gosh, he's amazing!
00:53:09As a kid, I used to draw military vehicles because my dad was in the Navy.
00:53:14My father passed away, and I stopped drawing.
00:53:17And the ponies came along, and I started drawing again, and they inspired me.
00:53:21A lot of people try to get drawings that are show accurate, you know, try to look like they're just right from the show, and he does a little more stylized.
00:53:28I decided to come to RonyCon because Lauren Faust is going to be here.
00:53:33If it weren't for her, I wouldn't be here. I have to thank her so much.
00:53:37He takes the characters from the show, and asks a question, and he draws the response that character would make.
00:53:44When I draw and I see the smile on their faces, I'm so happy.
00:53:49The Brony community is very into, like, making their own content.
00:53:53It means a lot to them to be able to become a part of the community and expand the community more.
00:53:58And so one of the things that had started happening was they started making their own games, and they started making their own animations.
00:54:05It's kind of brought out a creative side that I haven't used in almost 20 years.
00:54:11So when I was growing up, there was a lot of creative outlets that I would have, like, with my singing and the playing of the clarinet and marching band.
00:54:18And then my family moved to Texas, and I joined the military, and that all went away.
00:54:23And so here, after, you know, 16, 17 years, here I am, I'm practicing my singing again.
00:54:29I'm helping animators with artistic projects, I'm writing a story, and I've kind of surprised myself with it, to be absolutely honest.
00:54:36BronyCon means to me a place where people can go and be tolerated and accepted.
00:54:42It doesn't matter your age, your gender, anything about you.
00:54:46No matter who you are, you can find a place in this fandom and you can be accepted.
00:54:49And I think that's really cool because a lot of other fandoms are restrictive.
00:54:56It doesn't matter who you are.
00:54:58It doesn't matter your age, your gender, anything about you and other fandoms are ここで。
00:55:02You can find a place in my life.
00:55:03So that's also a lot of people that are going to be accepted.
00:55:05It doesn't matter what people are going to be, but it doesn't matter.
00:55:07It doesn't matter who you are.
00:55:09It doesn't matter how many people have already in your life, you can find a place.
00:55:12In the past, I think that's what to do.
00:55:15We're not always trying to find a place where people go.
00:55:17We're not trying to find it.
00:55:19It doesn't matter how long it's going, we're
00:55:46Hey, guys.
00:55:47Hi.
00:55:48Hi.
00:55:49Wie geht's?
00:55:49Ich bin gut, wie Sie?
00:55:50Ich bin gut.
00:55:51Ich bin gut.
00:55:52Ich bin gut.
00:55:52Ja.
00:55:53Ich bin gut.
00:55:53Ich bin gut.
00:55:54Ich bin gut.
00:55:55Ich liebe dich.
00:55:57Ich liebe dich.
00:55:57Du bist schon auf der Straße, richtig?
00:55:59Ja.
00:55:59Ja, ja.
00:56:01Wow, es ist wie ein Adon to teach.
00:56:03Definitely.
00:56:04So cool.
00:56:05Enjoy yourself.
00:56:06Okay.
00:56:07Danke sehr.
00:56:07Hi.
00:56:08Justin, Nancy.
00:56:09No, I'm Justin.
00:56:10Oh, my gosh.
00:56:17This is called the Music Workshop.
00:56:19All the grony music celebrities are going to explain how they remix their music,
00:56:23und die magischen Geschichten, wie sie es funktionieren.
00:56:26Also, ich bin jetzt zurück in Israel
00:56:29und zurück auf die Remix-Album, die ich so lange habe.
00:56:32Ich hoffe, mehr Sachen zu kommen.
00:56:34Ja!
00:56:36Ja!
00:56:37Das ist die Musik-Community.
00:56:38Du hast deine großen Namen.
00:56:40Es ist Tombstone.
00:56:41Es ist Forrest Reign.
00:56:43Broniefide.
00:56:44Mike the Mike.
00:56:45I Bring the Lulz.
00:56:46Die meisten Musik, die ich habe,
00:56:48ist von der Living Tombstone.
00:56:50Das ist die Name.
00:56:51Die One behind it all.
00:56:55Discord.
00:56:56Ja, Discord.
00:56:57Harmony.
00:56:58There is no apology.
00:56:59One shine like a Wonderball.
00:57:00Strike like a Thunderball.
00:57:01He has a very interesting OC.
00:57:03His song September,
00:57:06when he actually animated his OC,
00:57:09that was just amazing.
00:57:12I can't remember
00:57:14what's happened in September
00:57:16when everything is gone
00:57:18when it's dark and I'm alone.
00:57:21It's been forever
00:57:22since I could have remembered
00:57:24where the hell is everypony.
00:57:27I just want to know the story
00:57:29of what happened right before.
00:57:31I became so alone.
00:57:34I have no idea of posting
00:57:49my favorites on the Vient Art
00:57:51or in the forum.
00:57:54I currently had my figures
00:57:57well sold out but I think
00:57:59it's always the point
00:58:00that you have you produced.
00:59:00Oh, there's a better map there.
00:59:14I'm feeling quite nervous at the moment.
00:59:17Pretty uncomfortable.
00:59:21There's a lot of people around.
00:59:25I think we've gone the wrong way already.
00:59:27I'm getting slightly irritated already.
00:59:30I might have to actually ask for directions.
00:59:37Go back to one of the shops and do that.
00:59:40It just seems a bit awkward asking people for directions on the street.
00:59:44I don't know why it's less awkward asking someone in the store.
00:59:47I guess maybe they'd know a bit more.
00:59:49I don't know.
00:59:50That just feels right.
00:59:53I think I'll try in here.
00:59:56Or something.
00:59:58A little busy.
01:00:00It would have been better if we asked those people outside the train station while they were walking out.
01:00:06Wasting water.
01:00:07I'm not at work here.
01:00:08I was just like, why?
01:00:09Why?
01:00:10Google Maps, you have failed now.
01:00:12For the last time.
01:00:15I have no idea what to do.
01:00:17I could see, I could somehow see the spirit of this God somehow floating behind me as a little devil laughing his head off.
01:00:25Excuse me.
01:00:26Do you have to know your way around?
01:00:28Yeah, go on.
01:00:28Yeah, go on.
01:00:29I have things to do.
01:00:30Maybe an orange bucket.
01:00:32Yeah.
01:00:33That's where you bust it.
01:00:34And they'll take you around his little center.
01:00:36Right.
01:00:36I was an idiot and, well, no, I was a sensible person and asked for direction, which I should have done straight away.
01:00:43The show was finished one day before my flight, so I hadn't got time to check everything up.
01:00:50These kind of things are prone to mistakes.
01:00:52Why is this thing not turning on?
01:00:54It's always a very much of a challenge.
01:00:56That's why it's very rare that shows are being done in a different country instead of just something local.
01:01:01If someone's put water on you, it's not turning on.
01:01:08This could be very bad, yes.
01:01:10Because it's actually burning.
01:01:12It says the indicator is burning, so.
01:01:13Wait, wait, stop, stop, stop.
01:01:15Go back, go back, go back.
01:01:17What did you just do?
01:01:19Try that again.
01:01:19Yeah.
01:01:20I know what's going on.
01:01:20Get some tape, please.
01:01:22Just hope the cable didn't snap, because it was kind of bent.
01:01:25I had to bend it back, so I'm kind of worried about that maybe one of the senior cables just got broken because of it.
01:01:30But we'll see.
01:01:33I feel like there's something I can relate to in the sort of crowd, because we all like my little ponies.
01:01:42Amazing.
01:01:44It gets a weird feel, right?
01:01:46Seeing all those people watching, where, I mean,
01:01:49there's going to be 500 people watching my stuff.
01:01:53It's amazing.
01:01:55I can already feel like the energy it gives you.
01:01:58It's really exciting now to get in, especially after getting lost on the way, which is a big, but it feels so much better to just be in here now, and now we can have free reign to explore and just say hello to people.
01:02:11Does anyone want this box?
01:02:12Does anyone want this box?
01:02:13I'll take it.
01:02:14Yeah.
01:02:15I'll have to, uh, watch out.
01:02:16Hurray!
01:02:17Can you give me a favor?
01:02:18It's a binky pie plushie.
01:02:19That's just amazing.
01:02:20I'd really want one of them.
01:02:21I'd want six of them, one for each character.
01:02:25I think I'd have to call a truce with discourse.
01:02:31I made a video and put it on YouTube, and it's called The Manliest Brony in the World, and it was a dig on, uh, the Dos Equis commercial.
01:02:40I don't always watch cartoons for little girls, but when I do, I prefer my little pony.
01:02:48Friendship is huge.
01:02:49And so it took off.
01:02:50It got huge.
01:02:51It basically went viral, okay?
01:02:53So I kept doing them.
01:02:55I did a few more.
01:02:56Stay Mandy, my friends.
01:02:58And now I've got a fan base of people who send me questions.
01:03:02Basically, I'll get one or two a week asking me.
01:03:05I had one last week where a 13-year-old boy was going on a date, and he asks me, what do I do?
01:03:09And it was basically, dude, don't overthink it.
01:03:12If someone asked me a question, you know, a real serious question, I'd do my best to give them a decent bit of advice.
01:03:18Sometimes there's battles to fight, and that area of the country where you're at, maybe it's not a battle you should fight.
01:03:24I told them.
01:03:25I said, you can try as hard as you want.
01:03:26I'm not going anywhere.
01:03:27Well, you know, wait until you go to college, and give them all the flying wahoo, because you don't need them, and they don't need you.
01:03:35You don't need to impress them.
01:03:36They are just going to do this.
01:03:38Move on.
01:03:39You don't need that kind of hate in your life.
01:03:41I started off this show thinking people were going to think it was lame no matter what, and then having little friendship lessons at the end where we wrap up and talk about why we're all friends that, like, people would think that was really corny and silly.
01:03:54But these bronies are taking these lessons to heart and consider the mantra of their community to be love and tolerate.
01:04:03And the themes of friendship we have in the show, they're expanding out to their lives and their world, and I think the most amazing thing they've done, and I think the biggest thing that they've done in the name of this, like, love and tolerate and spreading the magic of friendship, is the amount of money that they've been able to raise for good causes.
01:04:23It's been incredible.
01:04:24I do art every single day, actually.
01:04:27Grayson is my 12-year-old son who was diagnosed with a brain tumor at six years old.
01:04:34I was, like, one of the fastest kids at my school.
01:04:39He had a terminal diagnosis.
01:04:41So tell me the names of the bronies.
01:04:43Rainbow Dash, as you know.
01:04:44Rainbow Dash.
01:04:45Twilight Sparkle.
01:04:46Mm-hmm.
01:04:47The bronies have huge hearts.
01:04:50They sent him messages.
01:04:51Okay, do you want me to read you some of these, some of the messages?
01:04:56All of them.
01:04:57All of them.
01:04:58To know someone out there that doesn't know me is thinking about me.
01:05:04That really means a lot to me.
01:05:07You're an awesome kid, and I really hope that you feel better and make a full recovery.
01:05:11Stay strong and stay brony.
01:05:13Here's a bro hoof just for you.
01:05:16Hi, guys.
01:05:19Today we are going to go visit Grayson, and I'm surprising him with a giant pony.
01:05:25It just goes to show you how generous this community is.
01:05:28I put on my Twitter that proceeds from these little hats I made would go to him, which we sold
01:05:33$500 with a hat, so I'm going to give his mom that check.
01:05:36And then there's a $6,000 check just from donations online.
01:05:39This is one of the things that they made me.
01:05:42Aw.
01:05:43People who don't like or hate bronies have no idea what the group is about.
01:05:47They look outside of themselves, and they're doing good things for other people.
01:05:52Yours relates for a phone.
01:05:54Okay, good.
01:05:56This post has been in my possession since December, and I had decided a while ago that at or after
01:06:02BronyCon I was going to contribute it somehow to some charitable cause.
01:06:06So I'm sad to see it go, but I'm happy to see it go because I know that it's going to go to a really good cause.
01:06:13Charity is part of the show in that we all help each other without expecting anything in return.
01:06:19And at every convention there's always a big option to raise funds for a worthy cause.
01:06:23So, I'm gonna make it nice.
01:06:24So, I'm gonna make it nice.
01:06:25That's another five.
01:06:26Going to play.

01:06:51Purple Tinker's poster ended up selling for $4,050, which was amazing.
01:07:01The message is really good because it's aimed at sort of a fundamental thing about human behavior,
01:07:06which is just be a good friend, which is something you're trying to teach your children
01:07:10when they're at the age that the demographic is about.
01:07:12There's something really attractive about getting that message again.
01:07:14It is a time in society when people are breaking from stereotypes
01:07:19and treasuring their individuality.
01:07:22Today's world of utter chaos needs actual messages of integrity and harmony,
01:07:26and it doesn't have to suck.
01:07:32When I was invited to BronyCon, you know, I had a lot of mixed feelings
01:07:37because I had already left the show.
01:07:43So I wasn't entirely sure if I should do it.
01:07:49I'm humbled and astonished, and I just, I can't thank you enough.
01:08:08I love you guys so much.
01:08:19It was hard.
01:08:20I regret that I had to leave, but I don't regret the decision to leave.
01:08:25I had to, but it's really sad to see it continue without me.
01:08:28And whether or not people can continue to write them or continue to let them live with or without you,
01:08:50they were conceived of and created by me, the world, all of it.
01:08:57I started it, I built it, and it's nice to know that everybody knows it.
01:09:04It's really good to know.
01:09:06We would like to present you with this gift.
01:09:10We would like to present you with this gift.
01:09:35Vielen Dank.
01:10:05Vielen Dank.
01:10:35Vielen Dank.
01:11:05So, yeah, this is the final moment, deciding if the show will go well or not.
01:11:13If this is all set, I'm set.
01:11:15Just have to play and enjoy the show.
01:11:17Three, two, one.
01:11:21One, two, one.

01:12:59It's been absolutely fantastic. It's been so fun just coming here and seeing everyone
01:13:13and having a massive party, rocking out to all the music. I don't feel anxious at all
01:13:19now. I feel completely serene. What are you doing? Hey. Hey. I was wondering if you could sign
01:13:25my DVD. Of course I can. Someone actually came over and asked me to sign a DVD, which
01:13:30I've never done before. There you go. Thank you very much. This was wonderful. I'm never,
01:13:35ever, ever, ever, ever going to regret that. It's been the best day of my life so far.
01:13:40Since the morning I've been signing pictures and autographs and whatever and giving hugs
01:13:48and shaking hands and everything. And now I'm just basically finishing up with the big thing
01:13:51like the performance.
01:13:52All the way from Cherubin, Israel, the living to the world.
01:13:58It's been the most part. It's been the best day of my life so far. It's been the best day of my life.
01:14:02It's been the best day of my life. I know

01:15:57Yeah, come on, everyone, everyone, come on!
01:15:59Mass brohoof!
01:16:01Brohoof!
01:16:03I went insane for a second and started brohoofing a couple of people,
01:16:09and then it just escalated.
01:16:11There were more people joining in.
01:16:13Yeah!
01:16:15Well, I feel like this whole, um,
01:16:19this whole event has helped me to maybe approach people
01:16:21who I wouldn't normally or wouldn't know.
01:16:23And, um, yeah,
01:16:25I could do it a lot more easier, I think,
01:16:27because it's just, I have done it
01:16:29so much in the past two days,
01:16:31so I feel like I could do it a lot easier.
01:16:35So, if I happen to get lost again,
01:16:37I feel like it would be a lot easier
01:16:39to approach someone for directions,
01:16:41rather than spinning around in a circle for 15 minutes.
01:16:43I'm going to save you!
01:16:45Stop! You don't have to do it anymore!
01:16:47Save me this more!
01:16:51I may watch the show when I get home,
01:16:55check it out, just to try to piece it together.
01:16:59Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!
01:17:03Yeah!
01:17:05I believe this movement is something that
01:17:07can be more than what it currently is,
01:17:09and I think it's going to turn into something like that.
01:17:11It is a way of dealing with human interaction.
01:17:15Every individual should know these core values
01:17:19of just being able to be kind, courteous,
01:17:21something you don't see these days.
01:17:23It may have been intended for little girls,
01:17:25but it ended up transcending that.
01:17:27I wouldn't be surprised if My Little Pony has a hand
01:17:31in changing how people see things.
01:17:33I think it makes these little tweaks on people
01:17:35to sort of go,
01:17:37oh, okay.
01:17:39A lot of people find something healing in it
01:17:43that makes the world brighter
01:17:45and makes you go, okay, it's not so bad.
01:17:47Bronies are not just fans that are interested
01:17:51in watching a cartoon.
01:17:53Bronies!
01:17:55What makes them special is that they're willing
01:17:57to take the lessons from this show
01:17:59and they're lessons that were intended
01:18:01for children and turn them into adult lessons.
01:18:05And they're still the same lessons
01:18:07that we need to be applying as adults
01:18:09and that we're really talking about being nice
01:18:11and kind and generous and loyal.
01:18:13And we don't have many things
01:18:15in our society right now that does that.
01:18:18My Little Pony might be opening
01:18:20some people's minds about what is acceptable
01:18:25in behavior for men and what it means to be a man
01:18:28and whether or not being sensitive
01:18:30and being caring is part of being a man.
01:18:34Maybe those are like little seeds
01:18:36that are being planted into the world
01:18:38and into society that in years to come
01:18:41might make a difference somewhere.
01:18:44and it would be wonderful if it did.
01:18:47I just had the best weekend of my life.
01:18:50You know, it was almost a whole weekend of partying,
01:18:53hanging out with people that were passionate
01:18:55about the same thing and we share the same interest.
01:18:57Open-minded.
01:18:58I've had a smile on my face, you know,
01:19:00for the past 48 hours and it's just been incredible.
01:19:03よ of a smile, smile, smile in my face
01:19:06every sound of my life.
01:19:07All of our emers smile, smile, smile, smile!
01:19:09I've got.
01:19:10You know, yes, that's a lot more invented.
01:19:11But now I have, no, yes, far.
01:19:12Even as a forceful 왜?
01:19:13And I can keep it hedongues.
01:19:15But now you want to be that.
01:19:17Er war anders.
01:19:47From the rest of the world, he chose the lovely every time.
01:19:57With a smile, he would bravely soldier on.
01:20:02Yeah, was that such a crime?
01:20:08He did not wear cynicism well.
01:20:12He chose the lovely every time.
01:20:19And they cut him down.
01:20:22The world cut him down.
01:20:26Yeah, being peaceful was his crime.
01:20:31And I don't understand the way we all behave in this world of ours.
01:20:39This world we live in.
01:20:43We're a long way from Equestria.
01:20:49We're a long, long way.
01:20:54We're a long way from Equestria.
01:21:01A long, long way.
01:21:04Sometimes you feel like nothing
01:21:15I like to think of us and
01:21:20You know that shadows always fade
01:21:26Open your heart
01:21:29That's where we start
01:21:34Take my hand
01:21:36And we can walk together
01:21:39Across this land
01:21:40All places we've been never
01:21:43I can't stand
01:21:45When darkness takes your light away
01:21:48I'm here no matter what they say
01:21:54Some need to speak like tigers
01:22:02And try to scratch your soul
01:22:04I like to soar like gliders
01:22:06And get you feeling whole
01:22:08I get all your crazy ways
01:22:12Open your heart
01:22:16Open your heart
01:22:16That's where we start
01:22:21Take my hand
01:22:23And we can walk together
01:22:25Across this land
01:22:27All places we've been never
01:22:29I can't stand
01:22:31When darkness takes your light away
01:22:35I'm here no matter what they say
01:22:40Only your eyes can see
01:22:46Life start to shine
01:22:50I hear your song
01:22:54And your heart mixed with mine
01:22:58Take my hand
01:23:01And we can walk together
01:23:03Across this land
01:23:06All places we've been never
01:23:08I can't stand
01:23:10When darkness takes your light away
01:23:13I'm here no matter what they say
01:23:18We'll sing the melody our way
01:23:23Together everything's okay
01:23:26Time to land, see the hero for all these
01:23:31Spread the best lady
01:23:32Master Vandoza gets Kony
01:23:34He plays the best character in season two
01:23:37Can I stop out each innate panel with Doctor Who?
01:23:40When we first met him he spread tons of chaos
01:23:43But one year later his movie's here to save us
01:23:46For us he used to be just a villain so vicious
01:23:49But now he's a hero and he's discordlicious
01:23:53He died by the other
