Contract for Derry cemetery resurfacing going out to tender within weeks

00:00i'm conscious that there has been a resurfacing plan of work for a number of of the council

00:06cemeteries across the district so just wondering if there's any update on the resurfacing plans for

00:12some of the other cemeteries in our council area thanks chair yeah through you chair members

00:19certainly um engagement with funeral directors has been ongoing since this project began and

00:26indeed we intend to do um very significant um work with them in terms of preparations for the new

00:33cemetery opening and indeed with uh churches etc in order to make sure that they're fully aware of

00:41the new same chain they're they're as ready as we are um for uh the facility opening um we have engaged

00:49with translink um and we'll engage again as we get closer with other um transport um bodies etc

00:58and it's a good point in terms of taxis as well um and i'll bring connor in in terms of the resurfacing

01:06thanks um members previously approved um to the capital works program monies to resurface a number

01:13of cemeteries so that includes city cemetery ballet own strip and other works at mine castle we have

01:20uh and the pros are in the process of putting it out to tender at the moment so hopefully that will go

01:24within the next number of weeks and obviously subject to the procurement process we will commence those

01:28works as soon as we can thanks chair thank you connor uh conjure mcginley for my good chair uh

01:36council really took my question from me in terms of resurfacing um but thanks for the update on that connor

01:41it has something that's raised um continuously with us specifically under in the city center in that

01:46lower portion um where it's it's in really bad condition so um we're looking forward to seeing that

01:50that resurfaced
