River access via meadows where boom prolonged Siege of Derry would be ‘amazing’

00:00officers facilitated a face-to-face residence engagement process on the 4th of September
00:07um and members that focused on the regeneration plans for the the landscape parkland and not
00:14uh in particular on the the future plans for boom hall house and that are being pursued by
00:20the boom hall trust members there was very good engagement in that um with uh 62 participant
00:27attendances um and very good face-to-face engagement um and the appendix um gives some
00:34details of that particular engagement and um the views of some of the participants um so members
00:42there were a number of actions that the team have suggested following that in terms of potential
00:49upgrades etc to the um the boom hall master plan and members are also aware that uh on in june of
00:57this year at the committee members had a deputation by boom hall trust um who sought um some clarification
01:05in relation to um the potential for them to um lease the site and members officers are working
01:13with the trust and indeed on that issue and we'll bring a further report in due course in relation
01:19to that so members today we're asking you to endorse the engagement and the feedback from residents and
01:27i'm happy to take any comments or questions member have in relation to that thanks pleasure farrell
01:33uh thank you chair for letting me in and thank you karen for the report um the report is very much
01:46welcome and it was great to see mostly very positive feedback from a good number of persons asked um
01:55we are looking forward to all the works that are going to be carried out um when the time comes and

02:15think you know the site at boom hall offers so much opportunity and it's really heartening to see
02:23the time effort and dedication we're taking to get this right you know we're consulting extensively
02:29and that's really really important and i'm not going to comment on all the actions but the one for
02:35me the number eight you know the feasibility of adding you know river access opportunities you know
02:41that'll be amazing um so like i'm looking forward to seeing the updated master plan but you know
02:47it's a real step in the right direction thank you you culture for uh creature murphy
02:52thank you chair thank you karen for the report um i attended the engagement and it was it was very
03:02busy when we were there at that time a lot of engagement and i know the council officers were
03:07very impressed by what they were hearing from people who had grown up around the site and and
03:13in some cases had worked on it elderly people so it was great and just to agree with rory uh
03:20uh uh there's great potential with everybody working collaboratively with boom hall thrust especially
03:27that they're still there and it was i think for a while maybe they thought that their views weren't
03:33being listened to in some of the discussions that you may have had with them but uh it's great to see
03:41that collaborative work going on and and it's great to see these steps and and hopefully they're implemented
