00:00You played well, but the team has lost.
00:04What is the reason that all teams have collapsed?
00:10Yes, for sure.
00:13I mean, the team has collapsed.
00:16I think we could have done better with our short selections.
00:23Especially it started from me.
00:26So I will take it on me that the short selections should have been better.
00:29We just needed six per hour.
00:31Should have maybe taken the game deeper.
00:34So, I mean, I'll take it from myself because the collapse started from me.
00:39I mean, of course, Richa has been good for us, but I wouldn't say that it's only dependent on her.
00:50We just needed 6.5 per hour.
00:51It's not like we needed 9 per hour that the finishing part was a lot to ask.
00:55But we've seen Aman do that in WPL and as well as Snee has been brilliant in the last 4-5
00:57overs with the bat for us in the first 3-4 matches.
00:58So, I wouldn't say that, especially this one, that it was only dependent on one player.
01:00We'll all take it in the last 4-5 overs.
01:01I mean, of course, Richa has been good for us, but I wouldn't say that it's only dependent
01:02on her.
01:03We just needed 6.5 per hour.
01:04It's not like we needed 9 per hour that the finishing part was a lot to ask.
01:05But we've seen Aman do that in WPL and as well as Snee has been brilliant in the last 4-5
01:15overs with the bat for us in the first 3-4 matches.
01:18So, I wouldn't say that, especially this one, that it was only dependent on one player.
01:23We'll all take it on ourselves that we could have actually done better in the last 6 odd
01:29overs.
01:30Smithi, can you hear me?
01:32I know you're typically very hard on yourself even when you play well.
01:36That's how you've always been.
01:38Just talk us through that.
01:40You know, you said it was a bad shot selection.
01:42What made you play that shot?
01:43And what were your thoughts when you were walking back?
01:45Were you still confident that India could pull off or were you kind of upset with yourself?
01:50What was going through your head?
01:52Yeah, I mean, for sure I thought I could take her on.
01:56I was trying to aim more over covers.
01:59I missed time that shot.
02:01So, yeah, I mean, for sure, again, as I said, the shot selection, maybe the shot wasn't needed
02:08at that time.
02:09I just needed to be more patient because throughout the innings I was trying to tell myself to be patient
02:14and not to play aerial shots.
02:16But maybe the emotions took over for that one, which never helps in cricket.
02:21So, yeah, I mean, but walking back for sure, I mean, I was pretty confident that we'll be able to get the win.
02:28But I mean, it's cricket.
02:29You can't ever think too ahead.
02:31Hi, Smriti.
02:32Tough loss, obviously.
02:33Not trying to pin it on that one decision which was made at TOS, but still trying to figure out at what point did you guys decide to drop Jemmy?
02:49And, you know, why was that call taken today?
02:54Well, in the last two matches, for sure, we thought that five bowling options are not good enough,
02:59especially on a flat track like Indore or how maybe the Vishaka Patnam second match played.
03:07So, yeah, I mean, five bowling options in terms of we don't, we are not privileged enough to have our batters
03:13who could bowl few overs, which a lot of other teams can do that.
03:17So, yeah, I mean, for sure on a flatter track, we thought that five bowling options, especially if one bowler has a bad day, it really costs us a lot.
03:28So, yeah, I mean, it was definitely a very tough call to drop a player like Jemmy.
03:34But, yeah, I mean, sometimes you need to do those sort of things in terms of getting the balance right.
03:40But, yeah, I mean, again, it's not like this is going to be there.
03:45We'll have to see how the situation is, how the wicket will play and then we'll take a call.
03:52Hi, Smriti. Was there anything in the track that where it was tough for the new batters to face?
03:59And talk us through your innings as well. Like, the last part didn't go India's way.
04:04But for a large part, from the start, you anchored the chase, you played a knock that you played.
04:09So, talk us about the conditions and what that was for new batters starting as late as in the 41st, 42nd over.
04:17Yeah, when I batted, I just felt new ball did a bit.
04:21Like, especially, I think Lauren Bell was getting those movements and there was some one odd ball which was doing that sort of…
04:30I mean, it had a little bit of an extra nip today, I would say.
04:34But, yeah, I mean, my innings, I mean, if you lose, I don't think you should…
04:39There's any… I mean, it doesn't mean anything if you play.
04:42But, yeah, I mean, I had to be a little more patient than I've been in the last 2-3 months.
04:46But, yeah, I mean, depending how you have to bat for the team, I mean, that was the thought process till that ball I played.
04:54So, yeah, again, as I said, I wouldn't really want to talk about minings because it doesn't mean anything because we lost.
05:01Hi, can you talk a bit about the all-round performance of Dipti Sharma and how she's an asset to the team?
05:11Yeah, I mean, Dipti has just been brilliant for us.
05:18I mean, in the last 10 odd years she's played, today was her 150th ODI wicket.
05:24And, yeah, I mean, it's becoming a habit for her to play every match and break some record.
05:30But, yeah, I mean, her all-round capacity, especially in one-day cricket, the way she can bat and also bowl and read the situation has been amazing.
05:39And I feel she's done a good job for us in the World Cup and I hope it keeps continuing.
05:45Also…
05:50Hi, you were pretty emotional after the game.
05:54Was I?
05:55And so, how tough is it that after such a defeat because the next game was in New Zealand it will be a virtual quarterfinal.
06:05So, how tough will you be to, you know, now we move and then go to Mumbai and then get back to New Zealand?
06:14What was the conversation about, did you all have like a get-together after the game or something?
06:21So, it's too soon now that we've had a get-together.
06:24But, yeah, I mean, in cricket nothing comes easy.
06:28For sure, the next match would be the virtual quarterfinal in terms of getting into the top four.
06:34But, yeah, I mean, you don't play cricket to have easy days.
06:39So, we'll all take this in our strides.
06:41We all know where we could have gotten done better, where we went wrong.
06:46We all know all of those things.
06:48And, yeah, I mean, as I said, if you're playing a sport, you're meant to have good days and bad days.
06:55It's about how you take those bad days and we move on and see how we can get the best in terms of against New Zealand.
07:04Last one.
07:05Hi, Smitty.
07:06Tough loss.
07:07In the previous game, Coach Amol said that starting strong is not as important as, you know, finishing strong.
07:16And that's an area where, you know, he identifies as, you know, where the team has lagged.
07:19So, what are the conversations like about, you know, making sure the finish is also as strong?
07:24And do you think there's something common in those, you know, losses so far that the finish has been a problem?
07:30Maybe is it nerves?
07:31Is it, you know, something down to mindset?
07:33I mean, if you see their innings, they did not finish well as well.
07:39In the last five overs, I think they did not end up getting a lot of runs and they lost five, six wickets.
07:45So, yeah, I mean, the job what they have in their hands in the last five or six overs is the toughest job.
07:52Going in and trying to get seven per over is not an easy thing.
07:58So, I wouldn't say that they haven't.
08:01And I just feel that in the first two or three matches, we definitely finished well.
08:06Against South Africa, we had last ten overs, we got almost 90 plus runs.
08:10So, they have pretty much done a lot of good things.
08:14Again, as I said, it's all about how we experienced players can put our hands up in those sort of situations
08:20and be there and guide the younger group because, for sure, there's a lot of younger group in that order.
08:28So, it's about us how we put our hands up and be there for them and try and tackle the tough phase and take it on us.
08:36Thanks.
08:38Thanks.
