00:01So Richa, how much that first inning is going to help you going into the tournament?
00:06A big crucial knock when India was in trouble.
00:08So how much confidence are you taking it from going into the rest of the tournament?
00:13I think it will help me really good because it gave me confidence.
00:17And I think I get the confidence from the practice match only, the warm-up games we played.
00:23And I am looking forward.
00:29Richa, firstly well done the other day.
00:32When you aren't kind of getting the kind of runs you want and you are going through a relatively lean
00:38match,
00:39how do you deal with that?
00:40Because in sport, such challenges and adversity will come in the life of any player.
00:46And that warm-up match that you just mentioned turned it around for you.
00:49But how do you mentally make that adjustment?
00:52Do you speak to teammates?
00:53How does Richa Ghosh handle that kind of adversity?
00:57Yes, that's true.
00:58But at that time I am just focused on my game because I know I am not getting that time
01:06run.
01:06But I am just, what I can do, I am thinking on that.
01:10Like practice, I can work more on my drills and all.
01:16And I am just focused on, it's okay if I am not getting run, but I am in a good
01:22touch that time.
01:22But I am not getting runs.
01:24So, it's happened and I spoke to Heidi and all the senior Smithy, they answered too.
01:30What should I do?
01:31And they said like, don't worry, just play your game and just focus, that's it.
01:36And that helped me also.
01:38Oh, sorry.
01:41Richa, your natural game is of course the attacking game.
01:45But on that warm-up game, we have seen a different dimension of your game, you know, rescue the team.
01:50So, do you think that particular innings helped you a lot coming back to the, you know, coming back to
01:55getting value and back the confidence and we showed, you know, help that helped you in the game against Pakistan?
02:02Yes, that innings helped me to come back and get in the form.
02:07And I think that game has only given me more confidence before the Pakistan game.
02:12And yes, because that situation is different, like, already week is down and I have so many overs.
02:18So, I can stay there and play my own game.
02:22So, that's why, like, I get the confidence there.
02:28Hi Richa, you've not played the Netherlands before.
02:33So, what have you been able to learn about them since watching their warm-up games in their first match
02:38of the tournament?
02:39And what is it like playing a team that you don't come across very often?
02:42I think, I saw them before our Pakistan match, I saw their games.
02:48They were good ballers and for today is the first time, right?
02:52So, they are doing really well and every team is, like, they can do well and I think they've done
03:01really well.
03:02That's why they are here.
03:04And we are not taking any team easily and we are just looking forward.
03:08Yeah.
03:10Hi Richa.
03:12Even in the last World Cup, we saw that you were betting many times with someone like Deepti Sharma.
03:16And in the last match, you also saw that.
03:18So, how has been the, you know, how has been the experience of you betting along with her and the
03:22partnership?
03:23Because it's quite vital for India.
03:24I think, not only India team, I played with her in Bengal as well.
03:29She came to play domestic as well there.
03:32And we had a great conversation on the field, off the field as well.
03:37So, that helped us and we both know what we can do.
03:40And we know that if the ball is not there, we can take the road strike or we can give
03:47both of a chance to hit big shots.
03:50And that helped us, like, we are, we really know each other really well.
03:59Hi Richa.
04:00In T20, players often say that it's about getting specialized roles.
04:05So, what kind of a role have you been given by the team management?
04:09Obviously, as a finisher, is it about the batting position or entry point that around 12th over or 14th over,
04:15what kind of position you will go into bat?
04:17It's different on the match and I think it's different on the coaches, what they want me.
04:22Because my role is, like, completely to finish the match.
04:26So, whenever they need, I will go there.
04:28And I think that's, I'm looking forward to, whenever they need me, I will go there and I will score
04:33runs.
04:34Yeah.
04:35Richa, we were doing some quantitative research and analysis and taking your warm-up match against England and this one.
04:43The first few balls, the moment you are there for the first few balls, even if it's, say, 9 of
04:489 or whatever,
04:49then there is a massive acceleration that's happening.
04:52Is it, is it kind of helpful in that way to get your eye in for the first few rather
04:57than having to come in the 17th, say,
04:59and start talking the ball from ball one? Does that kind of help you to get your eye in, despite
05:04it being a T20 format for the first few balls?
05:06Yes. I think, in this thing, Heidi helped me a lot because when I and Heidi batted and that time,
05:14she told me to take your time.
05:16There was no hurry to go and strike the ball from the first ball. You take your time and if
05:22you stay in the crease, you can score lots of runs.
05:25So, I think, I just remember that thing and I just play like that.
05:32So, Richa, you've become, not just India's, but one of the best finishers in women's cricket and I remember watching
05:39you at the WPL.
05:40So, how much has that experience in WPL helped you become the finisher that you have become or have there
05:47been some other factors as well in your development as a finisher?
05:52WPL helped me a lot because there were different players and different teams and we were playing domestic as well,
06:00domestic players plus international players.
06:02So, that mix-up will help me especially. In my team, Alice Veri was there, then Sophie Devine, Smeet Didi
06:10was the captain and others also there who I follow them, like what they're doing, how they take the match.
06:18So, that's helped me a lot to understand how I can do for the team and what can I do
06:23for the team.
06:25I think, experience-wise, I got the experience from there as well because Peri is a good, you know, from
06:32WPL, how she play and finish it off.
06:35Divine in the power play, how she power it. So, I think that's helped me to understand more how I
06:40can plan my game. So, I think that's helped me a lot.
06:43Yeah. Any more questions? Yeah.
06:48So, how important is it to start well in the T20 World Cup and get close to an ideal 11
06:53because we saw in the last T20 World Cup when India lost to New Zealand in the opening match.
06:58That changed things for both teams from there. And ODI World Cup last year, obviously, you have more games to
07:04bounce back. So, how important is it this time to start well having won the first game?
07:08I think it's always a start well, it's always going to be confident and we're taking forward like one game
07:16at a time. So, I will take the confidence from the first game to the second game and we're looking
07:21forward to like one game to one at a one time.
07:25Okay. Thank you, everyone. Thank you. Thank you, everyone. Thank you, Richard. Thank you, everyone.
