00:00It felt like a big win, especially at a place where it's been difficult for you to come in the last couple of seasons.
00:06Yeah, the recent history was in our favour and we wanted to change that,
00:10like we did against Newcastle and West Ham at home.
00:13That's another step, having that mindset and that ability to win these kind of matches
00:18against a really good opposition, a really difficult place to come.
00:23Especially the first 10-15 minutes, it took us a while to get into the game
00:27with some very unusual giveaways that has caused some transitions.
00:32I've said that we started to dominate the game throughout the rest of the game much better.
00:37But it was about knocking under against this team, they are really well organised,
00:41especially with the context of the result is a draw, even if they start winning.
00:45It complicates the situation a lot and the more it drags on, I think we were better and better
00:50and managed to win the game and another cliche.
00:53Tom Popolando?
00:54Hi Mikkel, that's the second consecutive Premier League game where you've not conceded a shot on target.
00:59It's the first time that's happened since November 2003 for Arsenal.
01:03When you're leading a game 1-0 right at the end at a place like this, I guess you sit there comfortably now then?
01:07Not comfortably because as well, it feels like it's smaller and they are straight away on you in the box.
01:13By the big chances, they didn't generate any big chances.
01:17It was more the feeling sometimes, especially in the first half with the giveaways.
01:21And because they have a lot of players with a lot of quality in the final third
01:25and Jimenez in the box with a real threat and one then you know there's not enough.
01:29How important is it for you to grind out these wins?
01:34Probably you could argue a third win away from home where you may not have played your best,
01:38but that must really please you that you're just grinding out.
01:42Yeah, you have to play the best in relation to the opponent and the players that you have to play.
01:46That's what we have to play. The best against Atletico Madrid is going to be different to the best of today.
01:52And make sure that we are able to take the game into those areas
01:56that are going to favour our possibility to win the game.
01:59And we continue to try to improve.
02:01James, CBS?
02:03Hi Mikkel, maybe a challenging match for Ebereche.
02:06Could you reflect on how difficult it is for someone coming into this club
02:09to learn from playing in those spaces as a number 10 against this sort of mid-block,
02:13which is something he's not really going to run into a lot at Palace?
02:16No, because he's more used to probably attacking open spaces and breaks
02:20and facing and carrying the ball with the space in front of him.
02:22But he's so good and comfortable doing that.
02:25I think at his moments today he put Victor I think one or twice through in really good spaces
02:30and maybe if that would have finished in a goal looked a little bit different.
02:33But I'm very happy with what he's doing and we can use him in different positions.
02:38And today we use him on that one and we carry on trying to improve.
02:42Simon Standard?
02:43Mikkel, when you came here years ago there was a perception about Arsenal
02:47that they could be soft and tough.
02:48Did you think under you they've now built this ability to win ugly?
02:52I don't like looking back but if you ask me how I would describe the team,
02:57the players, it's tough and very, very willing.
03:01James Sky?
03:03This is another set-piece goal, Mikkel. How pleasing is that for you?
03:07And how important is that weapon when it comes to winning ugly games
03:11where you're struggling to break the team now?
03:13Great, because obviously we generate so many set-pieces so you have to start from there.
03:18We generate so many we have to understand and against these low blocks
03:22when they don't really want to jump and commit that many players there,
03:25we have another opportunity to put the players that we want in the position that we want,
03:28with the role that we want and we need to exploit that.
03:31We could have exploited that today in different ways.
03:33At the end it was a set-piece, so more than welcome.
03:37Amy Athletic?
03:38Hi Mikkel, at the beginning Gabriel,
03:42like he had a really long journey and maybe wasn't quite sure where he was at.
03:47A couple of questions relating to that.
03:49What's the programme like for someone like that when they're coming back
03:52and coming into a game so quickly, and also how much does it impress you
03:56that a player who's maybe struggling to refine that rhythm
04:00then has the character to come on?
04:03That's exactly the part that I loved about it,
04:05because when everything goes well in the first few minutes for a player
04:08and he gets confident and things are flowing for you,
04:11it's easy to continue.
04:13Gavin had two difficult moments, probably not at his standards,
04:16but the way he reacted to that and the sense of security that he transmits,
04:21that's maturity and that's the mindset that we need in the team.
04:24So that's a really good example to use and that I will use for sure.
04:29Can I just ask you about the Athletic game coming up quickly on Tuesday?
04:32Are you a little bit concerned about how much football everyone's had
04:35and there's another big game coming up?
04:36Can you rest, can you rotate?
04:38Yes, we know the schedule.
04:40You could see some of the players, not only us,
04:42but their players as well and there have been some injuries as well.
04:45Their load is what it is, that's why we need it.
04:48The games now and the context demands you a bigger squad.
04:52I think all the top teams are in the same boat,
04:55we're going to have to manage that really well to look after them
04:58and especially to get the best out of them.
05:00OK, we'll just take two more. Phil, PA.
05:02Hi, Michael.
05:03It looks as though you'd have a chance to score for the spot,
05:05but it got overturned, the penalty got overturned.
05:07Just your view on that.
05:09Obviously it's not a game without a goal for a big zone,
05:11only two shots on target.
05:13Just to get your view on that too.
05:15Yeah, regarding the penalty I was getting a bit animated
05:18because obviously if it's clear and obvious or not,
05:23that's why Vieja has to intervene.
05:25It was taking so long and then Anthony as well it was taking so long,
05:28then he explained the reason why he took so long on the screen.
05:30It was nothing to do with the process,
05:32it was the screen that wasn't working.
05:34So that's fine.
05:35I think what I heard is that probably it wasn't a penalty,
05:38so probably they made the right decision
05:40and I was just animated because of the process.
05:43That's it.
05:44And then finally we go to Nick at the back from the Haters.
05:47Just on the goal, Leandro Trostov again,
05:50he has a habit of storing the goals.
05:53He probably got to set up in the game.
05:55That he has this quality to create these magic moments
05:58when the team needs it the most and that intuition
06:01and he's in the right place in the right moment.
06:03And that's a huge quality for the team
06:05and a massive weapon for us.
06:07So really happy.
06:08I think he's been very, very good in recent weeks
06:11and now we have a lot of players in a really high emotional state
06:15and performance level, which is really good to see.
06:18Thanks, everyone.
