00:00so we're here with author amanda bateman and little henry hello henry and amanda these are
00:09three of your books talk us about them they're a series of books that's right isn't it yes
00:14they start with they start in the 1960s and they follow a family yeah and they follow them right
00:20through till 2020 that's where this one closing the loop ends okay and they're all about you
00:26learn all about the different characters of the family all the strives the torment the heartaches
00:33that they go through you just follow them on their journey until it ends really so was it always an
00:39ambition to to write a book then where's this kind of come from this offering you i'd been writing
00:44since i was a little girl yeah i used to write poetry and song lyrics and then when my children
00:52were young i used to write them little stories at night or i'd sit with them and make up stories
00:58for them i always wanted to write i always wanted to be a writer yeah and um my husband said you ought
01:05to sit down and do one so i did the first one yeah and he had it published for me self-published
01:12and i got it went on amazon and stuff but it was nothing serious and but my friends already and
01:20they all encouraged me to write wanted to continue the story so yeah i wrote tie in the knot
01:24and then and consequently they said you've got to finish it now we want to know what happens yeah
01:29yeah that leave us on a cliff edge right yeah yeah closing the loop and um they were so everybody's
01:37enjoyed it yeah let's read it which is quite good as long as one person reads it and enjoys it i
01:43that's all i expected really so that must be incredibly satisfying that point where someone
01:48goes yeah i've read that and yeah i really enjoy you know that must be quite a nice feeling inside
01:55it's like a thing if somebody actually sat down and read my book because yeah being a big reader myself
02:00yeah it was important and it was sort of like i just wanted to write a book that people could just sit
02:06down and enjoy but pick up and put down at the same time not long chapters just little chapters
02:11so you can have a cup of coffee and read a couple of chapters and then put it down but most of them
02:17have just not put them down yeah which is good so have you been strict with yourself in have you just
02:22you know done your writing sitting on a city when you when you feel like it or have you given
02:27yourself right i'm working on this book you know one till four i'm doing this and tend to
02:32it's in my head and i have to work out things in my head and then i'll get me little i've got a
02:38notebook yeah and i write things in a notebook and then i start to write it some but i don't i've not
02:44i've never had a schedule yeah i it's sometimes i can write from noon till night bedtime get up all day
02:52sometimes i struggle and i find that if i try and force myself then i end up that guess just gets
02:58ready to yeah yeah it's more about how i feel in that moment yeah and i as i go along i'll write
03:05so many chapters then i print them off and then i'll rewrite really read them to myself they're
03:11different when you're in your hand to being on the screen yeah and then i'll sort of proof read them
03:17and then i carry on or they get thrown in the bin this is what they do so are they we're in
03:24shropshire are they set in shropshire it's sort of it's not a fictional it's not it's not like
03:31um like you can't say it's like prysley or import or anything like that they're called different
03:37places but they're all based around like that i grew up here so this is the place i know so i
03:43drove back now and then they're places that i visited yeah because they do travel uh places that
03:49you go on holiday and things like that so they're all set in in places that i've been to i know they're
03:56not necessarily places that are actually like the same names yeah some places are like um barmouth in
04:06there okay yeah you know because wales and there's lanserati so there's places in there that people
04:11will know but um i think if you're a shropshire person you'll know where the place is yeah you'll
04:18reckon yeah you'll recognize yes so this family's have they completed that journey then i mean it is
04:24is that is there an it's just something else you're thinking well i wouldn't mind writing another book
04:28you know and this topic that no they were they set out they're all about the arnold's and they're um
04:35it basically it's a parent leaves and it's how that person's one decision makes inflicts on
04:44everybody else's lives yeah and consequently what they continue to do which continues to have an impact
04:51on their lives and then it's just how they live their lives how they go about their lives and they're
04:57just ordinary people yeah that are just living their lives but you're following their story
05:03sometimes there's good things that happen to them sometimes bad things that happen to them
05:07but then it which is try to keep it as realistic as possible yeah so that people can relate to it
05:14and if people want to find out more it's amanda bateman b-a-t-e-m-a-n so it's cutting the cord
05:21tying the knot and then closing the loop that last one i do have a facebook page oh yeah which
05:26says books by amanda bateman yeah and on there you can um leave me messages or you could buy a book
