Hailstorm surprises locals in southern Bolivia  A sudden and intense hailstorm catches residents in southern Bolivia by surprise on Oct. 16, 2025, flooding streets and forcing people to sweep away hailstones. The storm, which lasted about 30 minutes, according to media reports, occurred in Tarija, a city over 1,800 meters above sea level near the border with Argentina. The hailstorm came after temperatures surpassed 30 degrees Celsius (86°F) earlier in the day. Bolivian media reported that two hailstorms also occurred in September.
