An inflatable bowel has spent three days in Burnley as part of a campaign to help promote awareness of bowel cancer.

00:00We're here today to raise awareness about bowel cancer that includes the signs and
00:03symptoms that you should be looking out for if you're worried you might have it
00:06and about the bowel cancer screening program which is sent out every two
00:10years to everybody aged between 50 and 74. This is our lovely inflatable bowel
00:14it's a great attraction it brings in lots of people because you can walk
00:17through it and you can see what it looks like inside you so your bowel is part of
00:21your digestive system you can walk through see what a healthy bowel looks
00:24like see what polyps look like and then look at other conditions like bowel
00:28cancer colitis diverticulitis it's a nice educational interactive piece that we
00:33use to raise awareness while we're out and about we've got lots of information
00:37with us today and whether you're worried that you might have bowel cancer if you
00:40know people who've been affected by it we offer support for people whether you've
00:45been diagnosed or someone you know has been diagnosed and we also help people
00:49who are currently going through treatment and we have information for people who
00:53are thinking of returning their tests and maybe are worried about how to do the
00:56test they're not sure whether they should have received one or not or are
01:00thinking about visiting their GP we've had a really warm reception in
01:03Burnley and we had lots of good conversations lots of people coming by to see
01:06the bowel to talk to us about their own experiences to ask questions about the
01:09screening program any concerns they might have about symptoms lots of people
01:13taking away some of our free kit and our information for them to read when
01:17they get home as well and promises that they'll be talking to their
01:20friends and family about it too so that's what we like to hear
