00:00It's been an incredible record-breaking season for Burnley back in the Championship.
00:24The pressure was on after relegation from the Premier League to bounce straight back
00:28to the top tier. That's exactly what they did under Scott Parker. As I mentioned, broke
00:32all sorts of records along the way. Unfortunately, they didn't get the fairytale ending on the
00:37final day, despite their 3-1 win against Millwall. Leeds Pitten to the title with that agonising
00:42late goal. That didn't take any shine off what's been an incredible season for the Clarets.
00:46Scott Parker's done an incredible job. As I said, touched on the record. End of the season
00:5133 unbeaten, only two defeats. You can see the frankly incredible 16 goals in 46 new games.
00:58Plenty of other records as well I'm probably forgetting about, but they deserve all sorts
01:02of credit for an amazing season. Burnley, as I've written quite a few times this season,
01:07seems to be a bit of a cheat code in the Championship. That's a 100-point season, the second time in
01:12succession. They've done so in the second tier. It sets them up for a return to the Premier
01:17League. Fingers crossed they can stay there.
01:19This is an incredible team. An incredible team. We're in a team sport. I think fundamentally
01:25this team are just absolutely rock solid. This team's got a mix of everything. When you
01:31need to dig, you need to mix it. We can mix it. When we want to play and we show our quality,
01:36we can do that as well. I think we've got every facet of a top team. That along with, which
01:42I'm sure everyone feels, the togetherness and the unitedness of this group makes it a top,
01:48really. Of course, we've got quality, but there's no way we would have achieved and
01:55have done what we've done this year, not being a team and a unit, which we've been.
01:58This feels great. It feels amazing to be here with everybody again and celebrating an incredible
02:03season. As I look back, I don't know that we really planned to set as many records and
02:07goals the way that we have, but it's been an amazing journey. I think there are little bumps
02:11along the way and hopefully it didn't distract anyone too seriously. We were able to keep
02:18moving forward the way that we've been planning for a long time.
02:21You don't see many people in Manchester United, Liverpool, Real Madrid t-shirts. You see people
02:25with Burnley t-shirts. They've got a very strong local following. I think it's absolutely brilliant
02:30they've got promoted quickly. It's been fantastic. I thought we were going to be in for a rough start,
02:36with practically the whole team being sold. It's been wonderful. They brought Johan back
02:43and then they brought Ashley Barnes back. Josh Brownhill has been absolutely fantastic.
02:49Absolutely amazing. After company leaving and so many players leaving, I think every Burnley
02:57fan was not expecting such an amazing season. After a slow start, what a brilliant end.
03:04He's done a really good job. Now we don't need to think about that old manager. We can now think
03:11about Scott Parker being the best.
03:13Maxime Esteve deservedly won the Player of the Season award as voted for by the fans.
03:18And Josh Brownhill, with his 18 goals from midfield, got the Players Player of the Season award.
03:23Can't really argue with either one of those, even though there were probably six or seven in the running.
03:27James Trafford, CJ Egan Riley, Josh Cullen, Jane Anthony also have a good shout of being up for those awards as well.
03:34It comes off the back of Josh Brownhill, bizarrely being left out of EFL's Team of the Season for the Championship,
03:40despite scoring 18 goals from midfield. But he certainly got the recognition from his players, which certainly will mean a lot to him.
03:46Brownhill, he's not enough words to compliment Brownhill and driving force in this team.
03:53Brilliant box habits, always in and around the right areas, got a huge quality.
03:58He's in ninth for the season, he's been fundamental really.
04:01It's been a pleasure playing with Brownhill for the last three years.
04:05And this season he's been brilliant again, as he has been the whole time I've been here.
04:10And obviously delivered unbelievable numbers on the pitch to go along with his performances.
04:14A great captain in the dressing room, someone who, along with Agath, has led us so well this season.
04:19And yeah, full credit to him and obviously was pleased to see him get the Players Player of the Season
04:24because I think he definitely deserved that recognition for the season he's had.
04:28I think Josh Brownhill and Josh Cullen in midfield have been fantastic.
04:33Solid every single week, never a bad performance from either of them.
04:37As the season went on, it just seemed to get better and better.
04:42And my two favourite players is Esteve and Egan Riley and the defence record proves it.
04:51It's been an incredible season for Scott Parker on a personal level.
04:54He came into the season with a bit of pressure on his shoulders.
04:58He already has a reputation of being a bit of a speciality and get promotion from the Championship.
05:03If I haven't done it with Fulham and Bournemouth.
05:05But despite that, his reputation tarnished a little bit after a short-lived spell in Belgium with Club Bruges.
05:11And as I said, his appointment replacing Vincent Kompany following his surprise departure to Bayern Munich at the end of last season's relegation.
05:19Yeah, that appointment was meted with quite a lukewarm reception.
05:23Some weren't particularly over the moon, but he's come in and done a great job.
05:27Look, I understand or I understand the way football is and certainly understand how things in social media can transpire in that sense and what narrative can be set.
05:38Look, all I can say is, I said it in my first interview, I'm a young boy out of inner city London off a council estate.
05:47And there's a drive and ambition in me, which I think correlates something to what the people here correlate to.
05:53And while there's an element of me, which is as a tactical element, as a real detailed element in terms of the way their teams play.
06:00There's also some core values that I stand for and I represent really.
06:05And I think, like I said, when I look at the people here, I think they represent that as well.
06:11And I will put my absolutely everything heart and soul in this job to get this club to the Premier League.
06:19And there will be no stone left unturned in terms of the work ethic, in terms of the team they're going to see.
06:25At times, there's going to be a little couple of bumps along the way.
06:28At times, maybe it ain't going to be the most fluid, lovely football.
06:32That's just part of professional sport.
06:34But the one thing you can guarantee that this team will have big hearts, big souls.
06:41There'll be a passion about this team that represent the local people here and represent me.
06:46I'm not just saying it as in the local people, I'm saying me as well.
06:49That's what I stand for.
06:51So while I get, there may be some different opinions on that.
06:55That's down to me and that's down to the group of players to change them.
06:59I'm hoping that we can do that.
07:01We started off the season putting in the solid foundations.
07:04There's no doubt at times it was tough to watch.
07:07There were a lot of nil-nil draws.
07:08I think they finished the season with 12 goalless draws.
07:11But in hindsight, you can see it was all about putting those steps in place.
07:15Getting that defensive solidity, which as we've talked about,
07:18has ended in some remarkable records and stats.
07:21And then slowly but surely, as the season wore on, they got better and better on the attacking phase.
07:26I think they ended the season with three 5-nil wins.
07:29And I think Marcus Edwards arriving in January made a big difference.
07:32That gave him a lot more freedom and quality in that final third.
07:35And even when he wasn't at his best, that brought out the best in some of his teammates
07:39like Jane Anthony and Zion Fleming as well.
07:41So yeah, a great season for Scott Parker.
07:43But again, he'll have something to prove in the top flight next season,
07:47having not quite done the business with Fulham and Bournemouth.
07:49So he'll be extra motivated to keep Burnley up next season.
07:52I can't say enough. I mean, he's amazing.
07:54He's done an unbelievable job of bringing this team together,
07:57representing the values and the culture in such a way of pulling the team in a way and forward.
08:04Couldn't say enough. He's amazing. We're so lucky to have him.
08:08There are not enough words I can say to praise the manager really.
08:11As a person, as a manager, as a professional, what he's done since he's come into the club.
08:17Like I said, off the back of a relegation, previous manager leaving,
08:22a lot of overhauling players in the summer to come in and pull a group together the way he has
08:28and the way he's led us. It's been brilliant.
08:30And then obviously his tactical side to prepare us for games and go out there
08:34and be able to dominate games and get as many points as we have.
08:39100 points is a lot down to him, believe me. So yeah, unbelievable.
08:43I don't feel we've got points to prove. Not at the moment, I don't.
08:46I don't feel like I've got a point to prove at this present moment in time.
08:49This is my second chance at it.
08:51And I realise the only way I'm going to get in it is by doing what I've done
08:54over the last three or four jobs and the three promotions I've had.
08:58So I don't feel like I've got a point to prove at this moment.
09:01This is my second chance at it. And I'm going to absolutely, like I did this year,
09:05I'm going to commit, give absolutely every bit of myself to try and help us
09:09run through the bumpy road that it's going to be for sure and see where we can get.
09:14And what I do know is this group with the togetherness that we've got,
09:18the unitedness that we've got, we give ourselves a fine chance.
09:21And that's all I can hope for really.
09:24Burnley fans got to celebrate yet another parade coming through the town.
09:27The second in three years, as I said, as they mark another 100-point season in the championship.
09:33But attention will quickly turn to what's coming next.
09:36And Burnley have the unenviable task of trying to stay in the Premier League.
09:39As we've seen over the last two seasons, not just with the Clarets but with other teams,
09:43all the six newly promoted sides have all come straight back down.
09:46So no one at the club will be under any illusions of how difficult the task will be next season.
09:51Summer is big, planning is super, super important.
09:55It's going to be a lot of work, no doubt about what we've seen the last two years
09:59was six teams going up and six teams coming back down.
10:02So we've got our work cut out for us and this summer is going to be a big part of that.
10:05But we think we can do it.
10:07A lot of the learnings we can take from the last time is about staying in games
10:12and longer and not conceding as many goals.
10:14So obviously the record and what we've achieved this year, the stats speak for themselves.
10:19And we'll go up next year and we'll still try and build ourselves up that solid base.
10:23And I think towards the end of the season obviously Leeds scored a lot of goals this year
10:27but I think we ended up maybe second highest scoring goals ourselves.
10:31So yeah, we've definitely added those layers to our game as well
10:34and we'll be ready for the challenge that the Premier League is going to bring.
10:38A little bit apprehensive but more hopeful that we can retain some of the team, you know.
10:43Hopefully we can retain some of our long-standing players
10:47and maybe get a new striker or two and Jordan Behrer should be fit.
10:52So hopefully we'll do OK this time.
10:55I'm very confident. Obviously we probably need to add one or two more players.
11:11But I think the confidence is there.
11:14And when we look at teams like Wrexham, three progressive promotions
11:19and I'm also very happy for Graham Alexander at Bradford.
11:23That's where I'm from.
11:24So they're celebrating today.
11:26But obviously I'm a burn supporter and this means the world to me.
11:30We've got to do it, haven't we? We've got to get back up there and stay up there.
11:35And that's going to be the big challenge.
11:37Maybe just a little bit of rebuilding during the summer
11:40and keep the core strength of the squad there and keep them up.
