00:00I don't release all the snakes I catch into one area because it would overpopulate the area.
00:12But basically where there's no people.
00:14Nick gets help from camera assistant Kyle Smith to measure the mamba and collect DNA.
00:19The mamba was just over two and a half meters and weighed around three kgs.
00:28After we take the DNA sample, we clean the wounds to prevent any infection.
00:34Just disinfecting it.
00:36It's the most tense measuring session ever.
00:43Then the big guy is free to go.
00:47Black mambas generally like valley areas, specifically around Durban.
00:51They also enjoy savannah areas, they're very good climbers so they do climb along
00:58cliffs, they climb in trees but they're also really fast on the ground.
