King of the Zombies is a 1941 American zombie comedy film directed by Jean Yarbrough and starring Dick Purcell, Joan Woodbury, and Mantan Moreland. The film was produced by Monogram Pictures, and was typical of its B films produced by the Pine-Thomas team. Along with flying scenes, the use of zany characters and slapstick efforts were juxtaposed with a spy and zombie story.

Plot: During World War II, James Mac McCarthy (Dick Purcell) is piloting a plane over the Caribbean when he's forced to crash-land on an island. Along with passenger Bill Summers (John Archer) and his servant, Mac happens upon Dr. Sangre's (Henry Victor) mansion, where the group is offered lodging. The visitors soon uncover Sangre's terrifying secret when they see him performing voodoo on a group of zombies in the cellar. The men must escape with Sangre's niece (Joan Woodbury) in tow.

Mantan Moreland is the star of this picture. He was a very good comedic actor who was stereotyped into playing the dimwitted servant in most of his movies, but he really shines in this picture. Every scene he is in, he steals.

The role of the villainous Dr. Miklos Sangre was intended for Bela Lugosi, who was unavailable. The first choice to replace him was Peter Lorre, but negotiations with him failed. Henry Victor was then cast in the role.

00:00:59McCartney calling. Hello?
00:01:05Any luck, Mac?
00:01:06Nah, I can't even scare off a news broadcast.
00:01:08Where do you think we are?
00:01:10Search me. We lost a few hours ago.
00:01:12Probably somewhere between Cuba and Puerto Rico.
00:01:15Is it that bad?
00:01:16It ain't good.
00:01:17Uh-oh. I know that wouldn't cut out to be no blackbird.
00:01:20If you had those weather gadgets you all set up,
00:01:22we wouldn't have gotten into this mess.
00:01:23If that new Navy base gets a weather bureau now, it'll be a miracle.
00:01:27Uh, Mr. Bill.
00:01:28Is this the spot where Admiral Wainwright's plane turned up missing last week?
00:01:32Yeah.
00:01:33Uh-oh. Look out, Admiral. Here we come.
00:01:35Try to contact him again, Mac.
00:01:40Hello? McCartney calling.
00:01:42Plane C-108 calling.
00:01:46Why don't somebody answer?
00:01:48We're lost, do you hear? Lost.
00:01:54Not a murmur.
00:01:56How's the gas holding out?
00:01:57That's something else again.
00:02:00Well, there are plenty of small islands down here.
00:02:02Better go down and find a spot for landing.
00:02:04That's what I'll...
00:02:06Wait a minute. There's something coming in.
00:02:13That's a new thing going to me. I don't understand it.
00:02:16Think we're near a radio station?
00:02:18Well, the way it's coming in, we must be right over that transmitter.
00:02:20Well, that's a break.
00:02:22Well, I'm going down and take a look.
00:02:24Hold on, boys.
00:02:30They're clearing ahead. I think I can make it.
00:02:32Think. Did you say think?
00:02:33I'm going down.
00:02:34Tell me, they're trying to get to the crew and stay back.
00:02:37They'll do it in a way.
00:02:39I have to think.
00:02:40They're running.
00:02:41Who are you?
00:02:42There's a good thing.
00:02:43I have to think.
00:02:45What is that thing?
00:03:16Rest in peace. If that means what I think it means, they sure don't waste no time around here.
00:03:24Wait a minute. Wait a minute. They can't do this here to me. Let me out of here. Let me out of here. Let me out of here. Now, let me out of here.

00:03:34Good question. Is that you, Mr. Bill? Did they have you in a hole, too?
00:03:38What are you talking about? What do you mean, have me in a hole?
00:03:41Are we dead?
00:03:42Of course we're not dead.
00:03:44I thought I was a little off-color to be a ghost.
00:03:46Oh, there's no such thing as a ghost, Jeff.
00:03:50Eh? Well, what's that, then?
00:03:55That's no ghost. Come on.
00:03:58I can't. My foot done took the root.

00:24:29don't come close to me, I ain't no fill in me.
00:24:59You fool me once before but you can't do it this time because I've seen him with my own eyes.
00:25:04He seems to be troubled with hallucinations.
00:25:06No sir, zombies, that's what I'm troubled with. You know what Mr. Bill, why they tried to have me for dinner.
00:25:12Ha ha, nonsense. Zombies don't eat meat. That ain't the way I heard it.
00:25:17Oh, the crack-up, the crack-up, the crack-up, the crack-up must have given him a concussion. You'll be all right in the morning, Jeff, as soon as you have a good night's rest.
00:25:21You're right about me needing rest, but I can't get to sleep down there in that mall.
00:25:25I don't even stay up here with us.
00:25:27Mr. Bill, them is the joyfullest words that I ever heard.
00:25:30Oh, we have so much room in this house, there's no need for him to sleep here.
00:25:33I'll give him an opiate.
00:25:35You ain't giving me nothing.
00:25:37But this is too irregular.
00:25:38Let him stay here, Doc. I know how he feels and I don't blame him a bit.
00:25:42Oh, forgive me. I forgot. After all, he is your servant.
00:25:46Good night, sir.
00:25:47Good night, Doc.
00:25:49Good gracious, I'm in.
00:25:52This joint gives me the willies.
00:25:53I second the motion.
00:25:54Well, I'm not crazy about it either, but there's nothing you can do about it.
00:25:57That's what you think.
00:25:58Nobody leaves this island, huh?
00:26:00Well, I ain't getting off it if I have to swim.
00:26:02And me right behind you.
00:26:03You know that Dr. Sanders has got the hex on us.
00:26:05Ah, you're both jumping at your own shadows.
00:26:07Shadows?
00:26:08I don't throw them kind of shadows that I saw down in that kitchen.
00:26:11Why, Mr. Bill, this place is zombified, but good.
00:26:14Ah, forget it, Jeff.
00:26:15There may be something to that zombie gag, Bill. I've heard of him.
00:26:18Ah, go on. When a man's dead, he's dead.
00:26:21Well, supposing he's dead and don't know it.
00:26:23Forget it. What are you, Jeff? Going to bed.
00:26:25Where am I going to sleep?
00:26:26We stay on the couch.
00:26:27Right away.
00:26:35Hey.
00:26:38What's that?
00:26:41That's a generator as sure as there's shamrocks in Ireland.
00:26:43Maybe it's for the electric lights.
00:26:44You seen electric lights around here?
00:26:46Maybe they ain't screwed them in yet.
00:26:47There's only one reason for a generator to be on this island.
00:26:50Radio.
00:26:52I don't get it.
00:26:53Why would he lie about the radio when...
00:26:55That's one of the things that got me mixed up.
00:26:56But let me tell you this.
00:26:57If we live through the night and that radio on the plane is okay,
00:27:00I'm going to camp on it.
00:27:00Tomorrow I'll scare up a gunboat.
00:28:31It's an earring.
00:28:34Where did you say she went?
00:28:36She walked right through that wall, just like it wasn't there.
00:28:38Right here, Mr. Bill.
00:28:39I'll show it to you, too.
00:28:43She walked right through this wall here.
00:28:45And don't ask me how she done it.
00:28:48I saw it as a rock.
00:28:54Yes.
00:28:55Any idea who she was?
00:28:56I didn't ask the lady her name.
00:28:57I was doing pretty good just looking.
00:28:59What do you say, Bill?
00:29:00Still think he's crazy?
00:29:01Well, I'll tell you better in the morning.
00:29:02Now, next time you see anything like that, hang on to it.
00:29:04If I do, he's got to catch up with me first.
00:29:06Nothing doing.
00:29:07Looks like even the doorknobs are haunted around this joint.
00:29:09Well, I'm going to find out what this is all about right now.
00:29:10Oh, Mr. Bill, with all these hats around here, does we have to go looking for him?
00:29:14Well, you can stay here, Jeff.
00:29:15No, sir.
00:29:16Wherever thou goes, I'll go.
00:29:17I hope it ain't too far.
00:29:18Well, keep your eyes open.
00:29:19Let's have a look downstairs.
00:29:20I'll keep it up.
00:29:21You can go up in the house, but you can still get in.
00:29:23I'd say that I'm going to go near the road, and let's go.
00:29:28How do you leave?
00:29:29Nothing doing.
00:29:30Looks like even the doorknobs are haunted around this joint.
00:29:31I'm going to find out what this is all about right now.
00:29:33Mr. Bill, with all these hats around here, does we have to go looking for him?
00:29:36Well, you can stay here, Jeff.
00:29:37No, sir.
00:29:38Wherever thou goes, I'll go.
00:29:39I'll hope it ain't too far.
00:29:40Well, keep your eyes open.
00:29:41Let's have a look downstairs.
00:29:43And the electricity bill, please.
00:29:45Let's have a look downstairs.
00:29:50As quiet as a tune.
00:29:57A tune?
00:30:05A tune.
00:30:20Mac?
00:30:21Yeah?
00:30:22We better split up.
00:30:23Um, you don't mean three ways, uh Mr. Bill, I think two is better.
00:30:26Look Jeff, where did you say you saw those things?
00:30:28Oh Mr. Bill, you ain't going down to that zombie nest.
00:30:31Where is it?
00:30:31Oh, back in the kitchen?
00:30:33That's for me.
00:30:34All right, I'll look around up here.
00:30:35Okay.
00:30:36Come on, Jeff.
00:30:36Who me?
00:30:37No, sir.
00:30:38Oh Mr. Mack, I ain't got no business down there.
00:30:40Pipe down.
00:30:41You gotta show me the way.
00:30:42Does I have to?
00:30:42Can I draw you a map of something?
00:30:44Go ahead, Jeff, you're wasting your time.
00:30:45Oh my goodness.
00:30:46Right out of the skin it into the frying pan.
00:30:49I couldn't win the night if I had crooked back out.
00:30:52Several times, sir.

00:32:33had to know. So I noticed. When you want to know a thing, you really go after it, don't you?
00:32:40Would you mind please telling me what you're driving at? Not at all. This prowling act of
00:32:45yours. What's the idea? Oh, it's my aunt. I'm so worried about it. She is hypnotized, isn't she?
00:32:53I don't. I think so. You don't think I did it, do you? I'm in no position to accuse anybody of
00:33:01anything. Look, Mr. Summers, I've got to get my aunt off this island. She's been this way ever since
00:33:06she came here. I'm afraid if we don't do something soon, something dreadful is going to happen to all
00:33:11of us. Well, I've got to trust somebody around here. Let the singe. But in order to help you,
00:33:17you've got to help us. Oh, I'll do anything, anything I can. Well, we think Dr. Sangre has a radio
00:33:26transmitter concealed on this island. I thought that for a long while. I don't know where he keeps it,
00:33:30but there must be one because he's always getting messages from somewhere.
00:33:35You think you could find it? I'll try. Swell.
00:33:40You better get back to our rooms. Is there anything else? Not now. I'll see you in the morning.
00:33:49Where'd those zombies come from? They didn't. They sprouted. Just like mission. With a description
00:33:54like that, they ought to be very easy to find. That's just what I'm afraid of. Now, let's have a look around.
00:33:59Not me. I'm going to stay right here.
00:34:01Not me. I'm going to stay right here.
00:34:18The trumpet sure gives a man a color.
00:34:20Don't do that, Mr. Mac. You know my heart can't stand.
00:34:29You know one thing, Mr. Mac, you see? Wow!
00:34:32Mr. Mac! Mr. Mac! Mr. Mac!
00:34:43Mr. Bill, as long as got Mr. Mac.
00:34:46You all right, Mac? Yeah. Looks like I pulled another Brannigan.
00:34:49It's not so bad. It's just a bump.
00:34:51Yeah, two cracks on the bean in one night. How am I doing?
00:34:54I heard someone cry out. It was me, and I wasn't dreaming.
00:34:57Oh, yes. We thought we heard something, Doctor. We came down here to investigate.
00:35:00So? Yeah, I got tangled up with one of your rape men and got the worst of the argument.
00:35:04Too bad. I should have warned you. Some of my servants act as gods at night.
00:35:07You sure it wasn't a zombie? Ridiculous.
00:35:10Well, he knows it wasn't a zombie, Doctor. It was our fault.
00:35:12It should have taken your advice. It stayed where we belonged.
00:35:15You're a sensible man, Mr. Summers.
00:35:17Oh, let's go back to bed, fellas. I'm sorry. This won't happen again.
00:35:32You know, the stump don't look half bad in the daylight.
00:35:36Yeah, it almost makes last night seem like it didn't happen.
00:35:38Don't kid yourself. That airing happened.
00:35:41You know, I'm beginning to believe this thing was dropped on purpose.
00:35:44Good morning. Good morning. Howdy.
00:35:47I think you dropped this last night.
00:35:49That? Oh, no. That belongs to my aunt.
00:35:51I'm so glad I was able to find you, Lord. There's something I've got to tell you.
00:35:54What is it? It's about last night.
00:35:59Good morning. Having an interesting conversation, my dear?
00:36:03Miss Winslow was just telling us about your island.
00:36:05That's right. How thoughtful of her.
00:36:09Did you sleep well last night? Well, as well as we could with the storm and all.
00:36:13Good. I took the liberty of having some breakfast sent to your room.
00:36:16I hope you didn't mind. Not at all. It was an unexpected treat.
00:36:23You seem to admire my wife's earrings.
00:36:26Oh, I was just, uh...
00:36:28My wedding present to her.
00:36:29Oh, very unique. Quite so.
00:36:32I dare say there's not another pair like them in the world.
00:36:36Really?
00:36:37They were among the few possessions which we were allowed to take out of the old country.
00:36:41You don't say.
00:36:44Well, while you are here, I want you to feel perfectly at ease and do as you like.
00:36:48What are you planned for today?
00:36:50I'm going down and take a look at the plane.
00:36:52Oh, yes. We're anxious to see what damage was done by the crash last night.
00:36:55I see.
00:36:56Would you care to join us, Miss Winslow?
00:36:58Oh, I would love to.
00:36:59No, no.
00:37:00That would be quite impossible.
00:37:02My niece assists me as my secretary.
00:37:05We have a lot of work to do, my dear.
00:37:06Some other time for her.
00:37:08Oh, certainly.
00:37:08So we go, Mac?
00:37:10I'm all for it.
00:37:11Enjoy yourselves.
00:37:12But don't forget luncheon at noon.
00:37:14Thanks, Doctor.
00:37:16Bill.
00:37:18Let's have a look at that earring.
00:37:23They're the same, all right.
00:37:25The only pair like them in the world, huh?
00:37:28I don't get it.
00:37:29Neither do I.
00:37:30Barbara didn't drop it.
00:37:31Madame Sangrae couldn't have, apparently.
00:37:33Who did?
00:37:34This is the most cockeyed racket I ever bumped into.
00:37:37Well, I'm forgetting out of it as quick as possible.
00:37:40Let's get that radio started.
00:37:43Bill.
00:37:45Look there.
00:37:46What about it?
00:37:47Ain't that a fresh grave?
00:37:48So what?
00:37:49You're in a cemetery where it's customary to bury people in fresh graves.
00:37:52Yeah.
00:37:53But that's been dug since the storm last night.
00:37:56Now, are you getting those zombies on your mind, too?
00:37:58You and Jeff make a great pair.
00:37:59You still don't get it.
00:38:01Take a look at that headstone.
00:38:03That guy was buried over a week ago, and somebody must have dug him up.
00:38:07Come on.
00:38:09Boy, will I be glad to get away from this joint.
00:38:20Well, it could have been worse.
00:38:22Hey, Mac, come here.
00:38:24What's the matter, Preston?
00:38:30How do you think that?
00:38:30Somebody's dismantled it.
00:38:32Dismantled it?
00:38:33I'll say they have.
00:38:34What next on this devil's island?
00:38:36Mac, we're in a spot.
00:38:37I don't know why, but somebody's trying to hold us here.
00:38:40Trying to hold us, is it?
00:38:41That duck that's sangraying his droids and his zombies?
00:38:44He better not try to pull any of his black magic on me.
00:38:46Calm down, Mac.
00:38:47Raving isn't going to get us anywhere.
00:38:48I'm going to find that duck.
00:38:50Are you crazy?
00:38:51Do anything now to make him suspicious.
00:38:52No telling what he might do.
00:38:53Take it easy until we find out what he's up to.
00:38:55Well, maybe you're right.
00:38:57But there's one thing I can't do, and I'm going to do it right now.
00:38:59I said take it easy.
00:39:00All I'm going to do is try and find that generator we heard humming last night.
00:39:03Hey, that's an idea.
00:39:04The old man's got a radio hidden away someplace.
00:39:06We could sure use it.
00:39:07Let's go.
00:39:08You better let me handle this.
00:39:09Like you said, we don't want to make anybody suspicious.
00:39:11And with two of us snooping around, it mightn't look so hot.
00:39:13Okay.
00:39:14I'll go back to the house and try to get Barbara away from Doc long enough
00:39:16to find out what she was trying to tell us.
00:39:17Think you can handle it alone?
00:39:19A cinch.
00:39:20It's right up my alley.
00:39:21My old man used to be a cop.
00:39:25You really buy the castle?
00:39:35Hey, there.
00:39:38I'm here.
00:39:39I'ming you.
00:39:40You're my old boy.
00:39:41I was away from类 GUY.
00:39:42I was a dignified girl fromиком early on and with little college.
00:39:45You're not an-year.
00:39:46You're a mother-year mother.
00:39:48I was해.
00:39:49I'm here to find out.
00:39:50I was all back.
00:39:51There.
00:39:51I'd be like a prisoner both.
00:39:52I don't know.
00:39:53I'll do it right now.
00:39:54I don't know.
00:39:55I don't know.
00:40:25The hammer.
00:40:28Yes, master.
00:40:29How much longer?
00:40:30Soon, master, soon.
00:40:32Voodoo magic works slow, but it is sure.
00:40:36The admiral has painted.
00:40:37Your magic is no good.
00:40:39It puts him to sleep.
00:40:40I am Mamalai, high voodoo priestess.
00:40:43I sent him in trance, so he talks.
00:40:46Too slow.
00:40:47He has valuable information, which we must have at once.
00:40:50The three men upstairs may be in the secret service.
00:40:53Yes, you must make him talk to Hammer.
00:41:08Dr. Sangre ruft X402.
00:41:12Dr. Sangre ruft X402.
00:41:18Have another piece of pie, honey man?
00:41:20I already had two.
00:41:22You only had six, but does you want another one?
00:41:24Well, if you insist.
00:41:27Boy, you're the most pious man I ever did see.
00:41:30Ain't it the truth?
00:41:31I bet you none of them gals in Harlem never bait you no pie like that.
00:41:35Oh, I don't know.
00:41:37Oh, you ain't so smart.
00:41:38I had me a bull once, and he wasn't no common old valet like you neither.
00:41:43Is that so?
00:41:44He was an ex-porter.
00:41:46Ex-porter?
00:41:47That's right.
00:41:48Now, that's fine.
00:41:50What did he handle?
00:41:51Bags.
00:41:52On the Pullman train.
00:41:54What become of it?
00:41:56He was killed by a revolving crane.
00:41:58A revolving crane?
00:42:00Mm-hmm.
00:42:00Mm-hmm.
00:42:01You all sure have some fierce birds around this country.
00:42:04Do you miss him much?
00:42:06Not much.
00:42:07I sees him every nine minutes.
00:42:09He does?
00:42:10Mm-hmm.
00:42:11He's Lazarus.
00:42:12That zombie you met last night.
00:42:13Oh, no, is that, boy?
00:42:15Hmm?
00:42:15Jeff.
00:42:18Oh, it's you, Mr. Bill.
00:42:19You sure give me a turn.
00:42:20Have you seen Mac?
00:42:21He's been missing since early this morning.
00:42:23No, sir, I ain't seen him.
00:42:24You don't think nothing happened to him?
00:42:26I don't know what to think.
00:42:27Don't mind me, Mr. Bill.
00:42:29I'm on your side.
00:42:31You think we better go look for him?
00:42:33All right.
00:42:33Before we go, run upstairs and get my gun in the bag, will you?
00:42:36Well, you gonna shoot somebody?
00:42:37Now, don't ask any questions.
00:42:39Meet me in the library.
00:42:40Yes, sir.
00:42:52Oh, excuse me, Mr. Doctor.
00:42:54I'm in her own room.
00:42:56No, I ain't either.
00:42:57This is Mr. Bill's room.
00:42:59What you doing going through his bag?
00:43:01Jeff, I was looking for you.
00:43:03Looking for me?
00:43:04In there?
00:43:05I've got something to show you.
00:43:08You got something to show me?
00:43:09That's right.
00:43:10I know, Mr. Doctor.
00:43:11Well, I've got business elsewhere.
00:43:13Nonsense.
00:43:15This is far more important.
00:43:17Oh, not to me, Mr. Doctor.
00:43:18What is the matter?
00:43:23Oh, Doctor.
00:43:28Watch.
00:43:39That's where that lady went.
00:43:42What lady?
00:43:44The ghost lady.
00:43:52The ghost lady.
00:43:55Yes, she went right through there.
00:43:59Come.
00:43:59Now, wait a minute, Doc.
00:44:02Now, wait a minute, Mr. Sandler.
00:44:04Mr. Bill ain't going to like this.
00:44:15Where's you taking me?
00:44:16What?
00:44:23Where's we going?
00:44:24Jeff, get a move on.
00:44:35We got it.
00:44:36You again.
00:44:37What are you doing in here?
00:44:38Where's Jeff?
00:44:39I wouldn't know, sir.
00:44:45It's gone.
00:44:46You know about this, you devil.
00:44:47Give me that gun.
00:44:48I have no gun, sir.
00:44:50Don't lie to me.
00:44:55Somebody has.
00:44:56Where's Jeff?
00:44:57Where is he?
00:44:57And Mac, what's happened to him?
00:44:58I wouldn't know, sir.
00:45:00You're going to tell me or I'll...
00:45:01I said I wouldn't know, sir.
00:45:05You wouldn't suppose if you didn't know.
00:45:08I'm going to find him if I have to search every inch of this island.
00:45:11Yes, sir.
00:45:13Look at this watch.
00:45:15See it move.
00:45:18Watch it.
00:45:20You have seen nothing.
00:45:22You know nothing.
00:45:24Repeat after me.
00:45:26I have seen nothing.
00:45:28I know nothing.
00:45:29I have seen nothing.
00:45:31I know nothing.
00:45:33I don't even know my name.
00:45:35I don't even know my name.
00:45:37I am dead.
00:45:39I am...
00:45:40I is.
00:45:41Repeat.
00:45:43I am dead.
00:45:44I am dead.
00:45:46I am dead.
00:45:48I have returned to the land of the living.
00:45:51I am a zombie.
00:45:54I am a zombie.
00:45:56I am a zombie.
00:45:57I am a zombie.
00:45:59I am a zombie.
00:46:03I am a zombie.
00:46:05Get over there where you belong.
00:46:07Yes, sir.
00:46:15Move over, boys.
00:46:17I'm one of the gang now.
00:46:18Mac.
00:46:24Jeff.
00:46:27I am.
00:46:29I am.
00:46:33I am.
00:46:34I am.
00:46:35Oh, oh.
00:46:38Oh, oh.
00:46:41Oh, oh, oh.
00:46:44Oh, oh.
00:46:46Mac.
00:46:48Mac, where are you?
00:46:50Jack?
00:46:51Oh, oh, oh.
00:46:54Oh, oh, oh.
00:46:57Oh, oh.
00:47:00Oh, oh.
00:47:05No, no, no, no, no, no.
00:47:35Aunt Ali, think.
00:47:38Think hard.
00:47:40Remember.
00:47:41Try to remember.
00:47:44You've got to get over this.
00:47:46You must speak to me.
00:47:48You must.
00:47:50No.
00:47:56So you're mixed up in this mess, too.
00:47:58Oh, no, I was only trying to...
00:47:59I know what you were trying to do.
00:48:01I thought Dr. Sangre was responsible for that.
00:48:03Now I see it's you.
00:48:04Oh, no, I'm...
00:48:05I'm only trying to undo what already has been done.
00:48:07By hypnotizing her still further.
00:48:08But it's the only way.
00:48:09You must believe me.
00:48:10I wouldn't believe you or anybody else in this madhouse.
00:48:13I suppose next you and your vultures will be after me.
00:48:16Next?
00:48:16Don't pretend that you don't know what happened to Jeff and Mac.
00:48:19I know.
00:48:22Move.
00:48:25Mac.
00:48:27Get me sick.
00:48:27Get some brandy.
00:48:33Mac, tell me what's the matter.
00:48:34What happened?
00:48:34Where have you been?
00:48:40Doesn't do any good.
00:48:42Well, I hope you're satisfied.
00:48:43No, I think...
00:48:44I saw your friend enter from the jungle.
00:48:47Is anything the matter?
00:48:48What do you think?
00:48:49Well, let's have a look.
00:48:49I was afraid of that.
00:48:56He has contracted a very rare and dangerous jungle fever.
00:48:59Is that so?
00:49:00It paralyzes the motor region of his brain.
00:49:04He must have medical attention at once.
00:49:06But you're a doctor.
00:49:07See what you can do about it.
00:49:08I'm sorry it's beyond my powers.
00:49:09I thought so.
00:49:11You're going to let him die.
00:49:13Not at all.
00:49:15There's a native doctor in the village who knows more about this than I do.
00:49:18We'll send for him at once.
00:49:19I see.
00:49:21Find mamba.
00:49:21And send for Dr. Cooey.
00:49:25We'd better put him to bed.
00:49:35Mr. Summers.
00:49:36This is Dr. Cooey.
00:49:37Charmed, Mr. Summers, I'm sure.
00:49:39How do you do, Doc?
00:49:40Dr. Cooey was educated in your country.
00:49:43American.
00:49:44Precisely.
00:49:44This is the patient, I presume?
00:49:46Yes, make it snappy, will you, Doctor?
00:50:01I'm sorry.
00:50:02There's nothing I can do.
00:50:03Nothing?
00:50:05Are you sure?
00:50:06Positive.
00:50:07This man has been dead since morning.
00:50:16I'm profoundly sorry about the death of your friend, Mr. Summers.
00:50:26Has to be, has to be, I suppose.
00:50:29Did you have to bury him so soon?
00:50:30It was out of my hands.
00:50:32The local law insists.
00:50:35The climate and something even worse makes it necessary.
00:50:38You mean this voodoo zombie business, huh?
00:50:40This voodoo magic is far more real than you think, Mr. Summers.
00:50:44You heard what Dr. Cooey had to say.
00:50:47Oh, but that's impossible.
00:50:48Dead since morning.
00:50:50Things like that have happened before on this island.
00:50:53There are even whispers going on among the natives that he was bewitched.
00:50:58Bewitched?
00:50:59But why?
00:51:00What for?
00:51:02Maybe for prying into things that did not concern him.
00:51:06Moment bitter, Doctor.
00:51:08Come as a thought.
00:51:10Excuse me.
00:51:14What is it?
00:51:20The radio.
00:51:22Word has just come through.
00:51:23They must have the Admiral's information at once.
00:51:27We've got to make them talk.
00:51:29We might perform the ceremony.
00:51:32The rites of transmigration.
00:51:35Get everything ready.
00:51:37Inform Tahama.
00:51:38And get Madame Sangry to the dungeon.
00:51:42Madame Sangry?
00:51:43You heard me.
00:51:45Hurry.
00:52:00Tahama.
00:52:00There's ceremony, Spito.
00:52:03I'll be right along.
00:52:07I'll have to go.
00:52:09You've got to feed the zombies.
00:52:11Me?
00:52:12I can't stand zombies and you knows it.
00:52:14Do as you're told.
00:52:16And you'd better set another plate.
00:52:19So we're going to have company for dinner.
00:52:22Company?
00:52:22You mean there's a new one?
00:52:24That's right.
00:52:26The Irishman from the stairs.
00:52:33Well, I do the class.
00:52:40Imagine us having a white zombie for dinner.
00:52:42Come here.
00:53:10Company?
00:53:10Oh.
00:53:11One.
00:53:12Hmm. Gangway for Kidzomb.
00:53:15What you doing in that lineup?
00:53:17Don't bother me, woman. Can't you see I was a has-been?
00:53:20A zombie?
00:53:21Nothing else but. And don't ask me my name,
00:53:24because I don't know. I don't know nothing.
00:53:28You ain't no zombie? Zombies can't talk.
00:53:31Can I help it, because I'm loquacious?
00:53:33How'd you get this way?
00:53:35I ain't telling nothing.
00:53:36All I know is that I joined the club.
00:53:39And as a member, I have privileges.
00:53:41What privileges?
00:53:42Privilege is to get fed.
00:53:44That ain't no new development with you.
00:53:47Woman, where's my food?
00:53:49There it is. Help yourself.
00:53:58Committee, come and get it.
00:54:06Where's the white one?
00:54:10What white one?
00:54:11The one who flew the plane you come in.
00:54:13He's also one of the new recruits.
00:54:16The only one I know about is the boys in my squad.
00:54:22Is this the best food you got?
00:54:23The best?
00:54:25For zombies, that M6 bit deluxe special.
00:54:28This being a zombie sure is a drawback.
00:54:34Why the sauce?
00:54:35You eat that the way it is and likes it.
00:54:38Zombies ain't supposed to use salt.
00:54:51I thought you said...
00:54:52I changed my mind.
00:54:55That's more like it.
00:54:58Take it easy there, woman.
00:54:59I ain't no hearing.
00:55:00Now eat.
00:55:05What are you trying to do?
00:55:06Poison me?
00:55:07How's your feeling?
00:55:09How should I feel?
00:55:09You ain't feeling dead, is you?
00:55:11Because if you is, then you use a zombie.
00:55:13And if I ain't?
00:55:14Then you ain't no zombie.
00:55:16The rule says, if a zombie uses salt, he dries up and gets dead again.
00:55:22How do I look?
00:55:25How do I look?
00:55:25Take a look for yourself.
00:55:31Well, according to this, I ain't dead.
00:55:34That's all I want to know.
00:55:36Then you ain't no zombie.
00:55:38How you know?
00:55:39Because when a zombie looks in the mirror, he don't see nothing.
00:55:46That's me, all right.
00:55:48Well, I ain't no zombie after all.
00:55:50If I ain't no zombie, and there is, what am I doing here?
00:55:53What the fuck?
00:55:54Hey, where you going?
00:56:04Jeff, where have you been?
00:56:05What are you doing coming out of there?
00:56:06One at a time, Mr. Bill.
00:56:07I've just been reincarnated.
00:56:09You what?
00:56:10I just got de-zombified.
00:56:12That's the facts, Mr. Bill, but that's all I remember.
00:56:15Jeff, you've got to remember.
00:56:16These zombies, did you see any of them?
00:56:18I just got to eat and dinner with them.
00:56:20Were any of them white?
00:56:22Why do you ask me that?
00:56:23Samantha asked me the same thing down in the kitchen.
00:56:25No, I was just thinking of Mac.
00:56:26They were in such a hurry to bury him.
00:56:28Bury him?
00:56:29Is Mr. Mac dead?
00:56:31My goodness.
00:56:33Maybe he's the one that, uh...
00:56:35The one?
00:56:36Go on.
00:56:37What one?
00:56:38I was digging in a graveyard.
00:56:41Can you imagine me digging in a graveyard?
00:56:43What about the graveyard?
00:56:45No.
00:56:46That couldn't have been me.
00:56:48Oh, but Jeff, you've got...
00:56:49What was that?
00:56:53Sounded like a woman's scream.
00:56:54What woman?
00:56:55I don't know, but it sounded like Barbara.
00:56:57I'll get the flashlight.
00:56:59Oh, forget it.
00:57:06Down here.
00:57:07I'm coming from the heart of the inn.
00:57:13This way.
00:57:14I'm coming from the heart.
00:57:17Want to get the light?
00:57:50Madame Sangre.
00:57:53That's what she got for trying to warn us.
00:57:56Whoever did it can't be far away.
00:57:57You mean can't be too far away.
00:57:59Jeff, look.
00:58:02I, if you look, I ain't responsible for nothing you see.
00:58:09Mr. Bill, ain't that a coffin?
00:58:12It's Max.
00:58:13You don't think he done joined up with his armies, do you?
00:58:15I don't know.
00:58:16But if that Sangre thinks he can use Max's body to...
00:58:19What's the matter?
00:58:20Listen.
00:58:24What does that sound like to you?
00:58:26I don't know, but it ain't Gene Krupa.
00:58:29It's the same drums we heard the other night.
00:58:31Voodoo drums.
00:58:32We gotta find them.
00:58:33Oh, Mr. Billy, we found enough in one day.
00:58:35After this, there's no telling what he's up to.
00:58:37Max might be...
00:58:37Come on.
00:58:39I'm coming.
00:58:40Mr. Bill, does we have to do this?
00:58:57Quiet, Jim.
00:58:58I ain't said I would.
00:58:59In there.
00:59:15I won't budge.
00:59:40Jeff, you were down here.
00:59:41Don't you remember how you got in?
00:59:42I can't remember.
00:59:44Think hard, Jeff.
00:59:45We've got to get in there.
00:59:46Now, let me think.
00:59:48I don't know.
01:00:00I won't.
01:00:02Oh
01:00:32I
01:00:54Tell me who are you? I am I am
01:00:59Admiral
01:01:01Admiral
01:01:03Admiral
01:01:21Admiral Wainwright, what were your orders?
01:01:26Go
01:01:29To go
01:01:32Stop, stop
01:01:34Mamba you fool
01:01:36She was just going to talk
01:01:37Unbelievers
01:01:39Outsiders come in
01:01:48Get them
01:01:49Max, go back
01:01:54It's Bill, Bill Plummer's your pal
01:01:56Go back
01:01:57Max, go back

01:02:25Stop
01:02:26Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
01:02:34Ah!
01:02:51Did you contact the Coast Guard?
01:02:52I have no there'll be a boat here for us in the morning.
01:02:55So how's your friend?
01:02:56Oh, those bullets didn't help him any.
01:02:58He'll need a little patching up when that Coast Guard cutter gets here.
01:03:01But he says he's raring to go again.
01:03:03Say, by the way, how did that insane doctor manage to get you on this island?
01:03:07Well, he brought our plane down with a false radio beam.
01:03:11Killed the crew and tortured me to get information about our canal zone fortifications for his government.
01:03:17He didn't succeed at first.
01:03:19And then he decided to try this voodoo business.
01:03:22Oh, you mean those rights of transmigration he talked about?
01:03:27Yes, that's right.
01:03:28You see, he tried to transfer the admiral's information to my brain.
01:03:32He was completely mad on the subject of hypnotism.
01:03:34Half the island was under his pen.
01:03:36First, he tried to use Madame Sangry as a subject.
01:03:39When she broke under the strain, he used Barbara.
01:03:42I hate to think what might have happened if you hadn't turned those zombies against him.
01:03:46You and me both, if there's one thing that I wouldn't want to be twice, zombies is both of them.
