00:00Our £75 million of the funding will provide training for 12,000 young people in construction.
00:08Really there should be no business that doesn't access the people and the skills they need
00:12for their businesses to prosper. We've got a massive house building programme across the region
00:16and we've got £2.5 billion to invest in our transport network, in our trams, in our roads
00:22and our other transport infrastructure.
00:24So you're doing an apprenticeship, why do you think for you personally and for lots of young people
00:29getting an apprenticeship is a good way to train and get a skill?
00:33I think it's great for me because it's got me into the industry.
00:37I'm learning skills whilst I'm earning money at the same time and not many people my age can say that they are doing that.
00:43And it's quite satisfying to say that, yeah, that's me. I'm learning the skills that have set me up for life.
00:48We need more young people in construction, we've got an ageing workforce in construction,
00:53the package of support we're providing, the training and apprenticeships provided from this college
00:58will help our young people get jobs and skills and build careers here in the construction sector.
01:03But it will also ensure that our businesses have access to the young people with the skills they need
01:08to succeed as businesses here in the West Midlands.
