Moradabad, UP — In a shocking case of betrayal, police have solved the murder of Veerpal, a resident of Alehdadpur Deva Nagla village under Bilari police station limits. The investigation revealed that Veerpal’s wife, Sunita, conspired with her lover Ashish alias Anshu to kill her husband, as he had become an obstacle in their illicit relationship.
The murder came to light when Veerpal’s body was found in his own paddy field on Monday morning. Acting on the information given by village head representative Bhup Singh, the police reached the spot, took the body into custody, and sent it for post-mortem. The report confirmed that Veerpal had been strangled to death.
Following a complaint filed by Veerpal’s brother, Kunwarpal, the police registered a case against Sunita and her lover Anshu. Both were arrested within hours and produced in court, from where they were sent to jail.
During interrogation, Anshu confessed to the crime, admitting that he strangled Veerpal while he was asleep in the field around 1 a.m. on October 12. He revealed that Sunita had encouraged him, saying she would only be with him if her husband was “out of the way.” After killing Veerpal, Anshu went to Sunita’s house and informed her of the act.
Police investigations revealed that Anshu had been living with his mother Pushpalata at his maternal home since childhood, which is in the same family as the deceased. The village head is his maternal aunt. Locals claimed that despite being distantly related, Sunita and Anshu were involved in an affair despite a 12-year age gap between them.
Villagers grew suspicious when Sunita opposed informing the police about her husband’s death, fearing a post-mortem would “spoil his ashes.” On Tuesday morning, when she attempted to flee the village on her nephew’s bike, residents caught her and handed her over to the police.
Both accused — Sunita and Anshu — are now behind bars, and the murder case has sent shockwaves across Moradabad district.
