Former Chancellor Sir Jeremy Hunt MP asks Housing Minister Matthew Pennycook MP about Waverley's Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) charges. Video from parliamentlive.tv
Transcript
00:00Sir Jeremy Hunt.
00:02My constituent Steve Daly was charged £70,000 by Liberal Democrat Waverley Borough Council
00:08for the apparent crime of building a home extension.
00:11I met the Housing Minister earlier this year to talk about abuse of the community infrastructure levy.
00:16Could he update the House on his plans to stop it?
00:20I thank the Right Honourable Gentleman for that question.
00:22He knows that I agree that we have seen unintended consequences of the 2010 CIL regulations.
00:28They have unfairly penalised some home owners.
00:31I can only reiterate the commitments I gave him during that meeting.
00:34In principle, we are committed to finding a solution to this issue.
00:37I am more than happy to meet with him and update him on the steps we have made in the interim.
00:41The President.
