00:00praised the finance minister for presenting a budget which they felt was in great alignment
00:05with many of their own budget recommendations. Speaking at the TT Chamber's annual post-budget
00:11meeting in C3 San Fernando this morning, President Sonji Peir-Chase said following
00:16consultation with its members, their budget document had identified seven key areas of focus.
00:22In alignment with these seven pillars, the Minister of Finance, the Honourable Devindranath
00:30Tanku, provided tangible inclusions and made a direct reference point in all of these recommendations
00:40put forward by the Chamber. And we are indeed pleased in the manner in which these policies
00:45directions will be implementing in the coming fiscal year. Peir-Chase says in a world of
00:53heightened economic volatility and shifting dynamics in global trade, TNT needs to refocus
01:00efforts on agriculture, economic diversification, government efficiency and digital transformation,
01:07among other measures.
01:08Here at home, in Trinidad and Tobago, we are tasked with balancing the performance of
01:15our economy that is energy-based, inflationary pressures, shifts in consumer behaviour and
01:23the need for digital transformation with a drive for diversification in the manufacturing, agriculture
01:30and services sector. Now more than ever, it is critical that bold fiscal policy decisions are implemented
01:39to stimulate sustainable economic recovery, accelerate diversification and enhance our national resilience.
