With the government considering raising taxes, we asked people in Birmingham whether they think paying more tax is worth it to fund key public services—and where they believe the extra money should be spent.

00:05You need to have a good legal structure in this country
00:10because people say, oh, the police this, the police that and the other.
00:13For the same token, if you're in trouble, who's the first person you're going to call?
00:17We have enough money to survive, of course, and we are blessed.
00:21But I feel like, if we compare it ten years ago, my mum didn't have to work,
00:25and my dad was only working, and we were all right.
00:28I feel like the more pressures, the more taxes that are coming up,
00:32I feel like it's just unnecessary.
00:34And maybe some for the NHS and schools and everything, public funding,
00:38that can be, that makes more sense.
00:42The only people they seem to ever be able to take money off
00:46is a working class man, and a man and woman.
00:48They go to work, they pay their taxes.
00:51The government comes out with these fantastic ideas,
00:53we're going to tax people or the billionaires more.
00:56And then they're shocked that the billionaires all leave the country.
