00:00Mark Sanchez out of the hospital, but not out of trouble.
00:04Right, because moments after he left the hospital this weekend,
00:08he had to go straight to turn himself in where he was booked.
00:13Those four counts, one felony, three misdemeanors,
00:16he had to get his mugshot taken, and then he was released.
00:19When he walked out, a local Fox station had a camera there,
00:23and he actually spoke for the first time.
00:26And remember, this is more than a week now after the violent incident
00:30in downtown Indianapolis, where we've seen footage of Mark before it,
00:35but we still have so many questions about what led to him being stabbed multiple times.
00:41In case you didn't hear, he got into a dispute with a truck driver
00:45after walking aimlessly there for a half hour along the streets,
00:49confronted the truck driver.
00:51However, according to police, he yanked the truck driver out of his truck.
00:56A 69-year-old man.
00:58Truck driver pepper sprayed him.
01:00That didn't work.
01:01The truck driver then stabbed Mark multiple times.
01:04And it looks like the police viewed the surveillance video
01:07almost immediately said he was the aggressor.
01:10Right, and that's why he is now facing these four charges,
01:15which, by the way, could land him some prison time, some serious prison time.
01:19Here's what he had to say as he left the police station.
01:23Mark, is there anything you want to say to the people of Indianapolis?
01:26Listen, right now I'm just focused on my recovery.
01:34And I just wanted to thank the first responders.
01:39Askenazi Hospital.
01:45I just want to thank Dr. Mosler, the surgeon.
01:52She saved my life.
01:54So I'm grateful for that.
01:56Sorry I can't answer all your questions.
01:57Are you feeling any better?
01:58Thank you, guys.
01:58Recovering slowly, man.
02:00Appreciate it.
02:00Along, Costa.
02:02He saved my life.
02:03Yeah.
02:04Well, you can tell, one, how much he went through medically and continues to,
02:07but also what I read on his face was I know that I'm in big trouble here.
02:13Legally, I'm in big trouble.
02:14It seems like he's a broken guy and a guy who realizes his life is not going to be the same.
02:19I mean, does he keep his job?
02:21I would think probably not.
02:22He's got the civil lawsuit already, and like you guys said, he's facing a felony charge.
02:26He could do six years in prison if ultimately convicted.
02:29You can hear it in his voice.
02:30You can see it on his face.
02:31I got to say, you know, the reporter, I always watch the reporters and how they handle it.
02:37I found it really interesting the way he asked the question.
02:41It wasn't like, what do you say about the incident?
02:43It was, what do you say to the people of Indianapolis?
02:46That was a really good question.
02:48Yeah.
02:48You know, because he actually gave him room that he could have said something that wouldn't be directly about the case.
02:55Right.
02:55You know he's not going to answer about the case.
02:57Well, but I don't think he would have said anything if the reporter would have come in hard.
03:03No, I agree.
03:04I think he gave, I agree with you that the question was very well posed, but it still didn't get him.
03:10I thought it would, because Mark could have said, look, I'm really sorry for, you know, the chaos this has caused for the people.
03:17And that would not be discussing the case.
03:20There was an absolute reason he walked out with his lawyer.
03:23So we will see.
03:24I mean, he, you know, the issue, we were talking about it this morning in the morning meeting.
03:30What is he going to do?
03:31Is he going to try and plea bargain this case, get the felony dismissed, and then plea to three misdemeanors?
03:37That would be a win for him to get that felony off the table?
03:42I mean, the thing he's going to have, that he has going for him is, and he's not a guy who's been in a lot of trouble before.
03:46They can certainly use that in their negotiations, but because we haven't seen the ferocity of the attack the way police described it, it's hard to, I mean, obviously police and the prosecutors are going at this with that knowledge.
04:01So how much are they going to be willing to give, I don't know, without having seen that footage.
04:05But everything, every bone in my body tells me that this lawyer is going to want to get the felony dismissed and need plea to the three misdemeanors.
04:14That's what I think.
