Stephen Lawrence’s father calls for killer to name names before being released

Stephen Lawrence’s father says one of his son’s killers should name the other members of the gang who murdered him before being considered for parole.

00:00It depends on the questions that they ask him and the answers that he gives.

00:05You know, because he had said that he would have gone down to Catford,

00:10catch a black man, cut his legs off, and tell him,

00:14swim home now if you can.

00:17And those kind of words from somebody like that,

00:21it's not easy for you to start thinking that that person has changed their views,

00:26especially about black people.

00:29These people have enjoyed life, do what they want to do,

00:33see what they want to see, and do the things that my son

00:38was innocent of any crime would have been doing.

00:44But yet these people who are known criminals as far as we are concerned

00:49have been enjoying life and doing things that they wanted to be doing.

00:5649-year-old David Norris, who was convicted of Stephen's murder in 2011 and jailed the following year

01:05despite the fatal attack happening in 1993, gave evidence on Tuesday at a parole hearing

01:13and repeatedly did refuse to name the four other or five other attackers who were there on the night that Stephen was killed.

01:23Speaking after two days of a public hearing on Wednesday, Stephen's mother, Baroness Doreen Lawrence, called Norris a coward.

01:33Norris previously denied any involvement during his old Bailey trial in 2011.

01:42Well, is that still alive and walking up and down all over the place for him to name them?

01:49And then hopefully, if see if the police can then arrest them and charge them for murder and send them to prison.

01:57As far as I'm concerned, it's not fair that this man has taken the life of my first child,

02:12spent X amount of years in prison and then going to be let out as if he's done nothing

02:21and continues to live his life in the way he wants to live.

02:25And he's caused my family so much pain and anguish over the years.
