00:00an emphasis point right here. The word witch actually comes from the old English word witche,
00:05which is where Wicca comes from, and what it means in the true definitions was wise woman.
00:10Many people still assume witches are either evil or fantastical. What's one misconception
00:15about the word witch and magic you wish readers understood? It's important to recognize that
00:22they're people first, that there is power in goodness and there's no power in darkness on
00:29the dark side. One is the absence of light and one is the presence of light. And so in order to
00:36contrast the potential for good that witches represent, it was necessary to create a darker
00:44side, but the darker side needed to not have a form that could be deemed sympathetic.
