03:21và the mummy is awkwardly trying to bring them back together.
03:25He's a mummy, so you're gonna need a lot of wrapping.
03:27Lots of wrapping.
03:29All right, Dave, this is all you.
03:30This is the big show.
03:31Frankenstein, all out of pumpkin.
03:33I'm thinking like almost like a four-foot Frankenstein.
03:36How do you feel about cautiously?
03:39Maybe he has a pet. Maybe he has a pet.
03:41Frankenstein has always searched for unconditional love,
03:44so he's decided to cautiously create his own little fur baby, Sunny,
03:47in hopes that it will love him back.
03:48And the solar panels will charge up Sunny for Frankenstein.
03:51All right, ready?
03:52Let's go.
03:53One, two, three, two.
03:54Final three, final three.
03:55Go, go, go, go.
03:56Perfect.
03:57Let's go.
03:58I'm gonna roll my pumpkin in.
03:59You get your little hands off.
04:01Yeah.
04:02I feel like Quasimodo.
04:04Incoming.
04:06One, two, three.
04:08Girl power.
04:10Okay.
04:11I'm working on the tree branches right now,
04:13so this is critical because we need to get this completely coated in chocolate.
04:17We're gonna cover RCT and then do a finish of brown icing,
04:22and then we'll put it on the board so that we can get our characters up.
04:26Last week we didn't do so good in the sugar spotlight.
04:29We almost went home, so this week we need to come back strong,
04:32show the judges what they know we can do.
04:34This week we've been given not just two, but three ingredients.
04:38Chocolate, dates, and cardamom.
04:41Ooh, I cannot forget cardamom.
04:44Three ingredients is so difficult because you have to balance all three flavors and make sure they all shine through.
04:50And with cardamom, it's really potent and I'm not really sure how that's going to pair with everything else.
04:55That smells cardamomy.
04:57So I'm gonna stick to what I know, which is cake.
05:00I'm going to make a chocolate and cardamom orange cake soaked in a sticky toffee with dates,
05:05with a dark chocolate ganache, and an orange Italian buttercream.
05:09Two years ago, I got eliminated in my first episode.
05:13My tasting element was fantastic though.
05:15And then last year, got third place.
05:19At this point, if I don't win, it's starting to get pathetic and sad.
05:23Okay, cake is going in the oven.
05:25Pumpkin spotlight, that means that I'm gonna be, I'm gonna have to do a lot of pumpkin.
05:30And that means that I have to build a really, really strong armature or structure to hold my pumpkins so that they don't come toppling down.
05:39There's a lot of pressure.
05:41Even if we have an incredible scene, but my element that I build isn't the spotlight, we could still go home.
05:47Because we have the word awkwardly, our character needs to look awkward.
05:52Rebecca wants this character to have a lot of movement and to be mid-pose.
05:57Starting on pumpkin now.
05:58To make the mummy structure, I'm taking big pieces of a large pumpkin, flattening one side and gluing that onto my structure.
06:04He's looking beautiful right now.
06:07We got vampire, and I have to make him all out of pumpkin.
06:11This week is definitely the week that I want to kill it and want to take in a win for our team.
06:17I'm going to carve our main character as a vampire, who is going to be getting waxed.
06:22Paulina's already hard at work.
06:24She's using butternut squash, slicing it in half, and using that as the limbs.
06:29We really want to learn from last week's challenge and make sure that we're able to sculpt with an eye for time.
06:37Butternut squash has a natural shape that mimics the different body parts.
06:41So I think that it will allow me to get the shapes of the body really quickly.
06:46How's it going on the chair?
06:47It's going well.
06:48Excellent.
06:49I'm at the cushion right now.
06:51You cannot be standing getting waxed.
06:53So Karine is starting on the chair out of rice cereal tree and fondant.
06:58And Jamie is putting together our door to the wax salon.
07:02I actually poured my hot ice malt onto a vinyl sheet.
07:06And that vinyl sheet is a little bit more heavy duty.
07:08And you get like crazy clear ice malt pour when you do that.
07:12Oh, look how clear my window is.
07:15Wow.
07:16I am starting with the nicest pumpkin I have seen in a long time.
07:22He's beautiful.
07:23And he's really thick.
07:25It's a big week for me.
07:26And I am very nervous about it because it's like, if I don't perform and we go home, I'm going to feel like it's all on my head.
07:34These are going to be the legs of the werewolf.
07:36I've never done a standing piece before.
07:38And it's got to be solid.
07:40And it's got to hold up to the weight of the pumpkin.
07:43Margaret, it's all you today.
07:44I'm feeling the pressure this week because I'm doing a figure out of pumpkin.
07:48And I do armatures, but usually it's just the head that's the pumpkin, not the rest of the body.
07:53So anything can go wrong and everything might go wrong.
07:56This is the pumpkin spotlight.
07:58So I've got to bring it home.
07:59You're going to kill it.
08:00We're going to kill it.
08:02I think everyone in this building is younger than my kids.
08:06Younger than your kids?
08:07Younger than my kids.
08:08Not younger than me.
08:09Younger than my kids.
08:10I'm pretty sure.
08:11How old are your kids?
08:13My oldest son is going to be 45.
08:16Oh.
08:17So there you go.
08:18Okay.
08:19I like being young.
08:21Margaret is so badass.
08:23Like, she's 67 and she's doing this.
08:25I'm like, girl, amazing.
08:28Amazing.
08:29We're going to go ahead and do the trees.
08:31I will be doing the backdrop.
08:34I'll get the door going, okay?
08:35And Nails is going to start off with a door made out of sugar.
08:38So I'm just cutting these to fit the 12-inch things.
08:42So I'm just torching the knife a little bit, making a score, tapping it off.
08:47These are the rivets to accentuate to show that the door is extra reinforced.
08:53Last week it was my spotlight.
08:54This week it's Margie.
08:55She hasn't really made big standing pieces yet, right?
08:59So, but I said, don't worry.
09:01And it's in her hands and I'm here to cover the spread.
09:04Right now I'm preparing the sugar to pour into the windows.
09:09Kim starts with the backdrop.
09:11And we've decided we want to kind of have a warehouse feel.
09:14I am starting with our carrot cake.
09:16Our ingredients that we got were carrot, ginger, and caramel.
09:21Natalie is known for her complex tasting elements.
09:24She's creating a layered ginger carrot cake with a smoked bourbon pecan caramel
09:29and a butterscotch buttercream.
09:31And surprise in this one, our tasting element is actually going to be the Franken-fur baby.
09:35I have some fresh ginger that I'm going to grate just to finish in my carrot cake and get that in the oven.
09:41I'm excited about the flavors because they all do go together very well.
09:44But they can be challenging because sometimes the carrot can get lost or the ginger can be overpowering
09:49or it can just end up being too sweet, which I don't like.
09:53So hopefully we can mellow it all out and marry them together nicely.
09:58Put this in the oven.
10:00We're in the final four.
10:01We want to be in the final three.
10:02We're coming off a win.
10:04They put me in my element, the pumpkin spotlight.
10:06I'm going to start off by cutting off a big chunk for Frankenstein's chest.
10:11This is the pumpkin spotlight.
10:12It's got to blow the judges away.
10:14I want to go huge.
10:15I'm going to carve the biggest Frankenstein that Halloween Wars has ever seen.
10:19But before I could even start carving this pumpkin, I got to get all the pieces onto our structure.
10:24This is my 12-year reunion at Halloween Wars.
10:27From season three to season 15.
10:29I don't have the trophy on my wall yet.
10:32To finally win Halloween Wars is like the apex pumpkin title.
10:36Pretty much the most important competition of our craft.
10:41It would mean everything.
10:42So winning is absolutely vital.
10:45Making a Franken-Punkin.
10:49Yes.
10:50Teams, six hours left.
10:52All right, let's go guys.
10:54Already six.
10:55We're in really great shape today because I think these are some of the strongest carvers we've had to date.
11:01So this is going to be a tough competition for us to judge because I think they're all going to be bringing it.
11:10What do you think?
11:11Do you think this one's a little better?
11:12I prefer the biggest one.
11:13The one on your left?
11:14Yeah, the biggest.
11:15Yeah.
11:16The bigger one.
11:17We have to convey the bravely adverb.
11:19You're a machine today.
11:20I mean, come and look at David.
11:22Why is he so slow?
11:23I mean, we can't all be winners, okay?
11:26We got a whole figure without a head already.
11:29Well.
11:30Well.
11:31I'll work on it.
11:32I'll get back to you.
11:34I'm making the vampire's face right now.
11:36And we're making a face that is kind of in pain.
11:40He's kind of braving out getting waxed.
11:43So what's super exciting about Halloween Wars is most of the time when I'm carving for clients,
11:49we're kind of doing like business things and logos and I don't get to do creepy things as much.
11:56So I love the creativity and the free rein.
11:59I'm a professional pumpkin carver by night and a paralegal at a law office by day.
12:04I would love to have that Halloween Wars champion title to really help boost my business.
12:09and in turn support my family.
12:12I would love to be able to carve and sculpt full time.
12:15Oh, look at his face.
12:16It's so good.
12:17Five hours to go.
12:18Wow.
12:19You guys in a good spot.
12:20Yep.
12:21So right now I am making the caramel sauce and the butterscotch for my smoked bourbon.
12:25That's going to be mixed with some pecans.
12:28That's smoky.
12:29Our assigned ingredients are carrots, ginger, and caramel.
12:33Natalie is creating a layered ginger carrot cake.
12:36With a smoked bourbon pecan caramel layer and a butterscotch buttercream.
12:41I've worked for a lot of really high end restaurants where I had to create the menu
12:45and come up with different techniques and different elements and just constantly making new desserts.
12:52So I think with this tasting element, I have that experience of working with different flavors and being able to really create something unique.
13:01I love the idea of a little bit of smoke in here just to break up those flavors that sort of feel kind of familiar to us.
13:08Yeah.
13:09I think it's really, really intelligent.
13:10The spice of the ginger and then the earthiness of the carrots.
13:13I think this is going to be very interesting.
13:16I'm cautiously optimistic.
13:18I'm anxiously waiting.
13:20I am bravely approaching this.
13:23This is going to be a good round.
13:25Looks more like a pig.
13:27The basic body shape looks like a cat.
13:30Sabrina is responsible for our cats and our baby character.
13:33Made out of rice cereal and modeling chocolate.
13:36So we're just going to cover him with the modeling chocolate.
13:39Awesome.
13:40Afterwards, we can sculpt and add details.
13:43I think I'm feeling okay.
13:45There's a lot of progress on my mummy.
13:47I'm going to start carving this very like grotesque mummy face.
13:51It's going to be like a skull under the wrap.
13:53I'm an artist by trade.
13:55I used to teach high school art, got out of that.
13:58Now I'm a woodworker and I work as a tattoo artist.
14:02In this realm, I do feel like I need to kind of prove myself.
14:05and show that I can like run with the big dogs
14:09and do what everybody else is doing
14:11and like maybe make a name for myself
14:13in the pumpkin carving world.
14:16I'm going to get started on the tasting element.
14:19A little melted butter.
14:20Here we go.
14:21My ingredients are cranberry, orange and clove.
14:24But when you're given three different ingredients,
14:26you really have to figure out how to make them all be
14:28standalone ingredients but dance together.
14:31So we're going to go with a nice crunchy spice graham crust
14:33with the clove.
14:34We're going to do a nice silky white chocolate,
14:36orange zest, vanilla mousse.
14:38And then we're going to top it with whole candied cranberries
14:40and a little bit of candied gingers.
14:42We're mixing the chocolate into the egg yolks,
14:46the heavy cream, vanilla beans and orange zest.
14:48Had the orange zest in the heavy cream
14:50to sort of help that flavor develop a bunch.
14:53Going to the freezer.
14:54Okay.
14:55Here we go.
14:56Get these sugared.
14:58Coat those in a little bit of egg whites.
15:00You don't want to do too much.
15:01Just enough to shine them.
15:03And then sugar.
15:04Nils is doing this cool technique where he's sugaring the cranberries
15:08and makes them.
15:09I think so that we can get the pop of biting into the cranberry,
15:12but still like a bit of the crunch from the sugar.
15:14Yeah.
15:15Wow.
15:16In we go.
15:17Right now I poured the initial sun.
15:20And now I'm making the rays that come off from it.
15:23So I'm going to pull these and then attach it to the sun.
15:27So this is what we refer to affectionately as pumpkin bacon.
15:30It even looks like bacon.
15:32This stuff covers any gaps, makes your seams disappear.
15:35This pumpkin is massive.
15:37I want everybody carving pumpkin to look over
15:39and be intimidated by the size of this thing.
15:41But carving these big pumpkin monsters, it takes time.
15:44It's got to be precise.
15:45All the proportions have to be on.
15:47All right.
15:48We got to have Frankenstein's neck.
15:49He's got to have the bolts in his neck.
15:50If we're going to make the biggest pumpkin monster here,
15:52he's got to be accurate.
15:54I'll double stress the biggest monster here.
15:57I mean, this is crazy.
15:58It's like three times bigger than anybody else's here that I can see.
16:02You know this is a pumpkin challenge, right?
16:04You guys know that?
16:05Just wanted to make sure everybody was clear.
16:07You know, we were all here for the announcement.
16:09Thanks, David.
16:10Oh, David.
16:11He's crazy.
16:12Did I mention that these pumpkin monsters are itty bitty?
16:14Yes, David.
16:15We see that.
16:16We know.
16:17Did anybody catch that?
16:19I am starting on the dessert.
16:21So for our tasty ingredients, we got maple, rum, and apple.
16:24This is a little bit of rum extract to, like, kick up the rum even more
16:28because I got to make the flavors stand apart from each other.
16:31I'm making a maple butterscotch budino with a rum caramelized apple compote and a cornflake crunch.
16:40I'm going to be making a maple butterscotch pudding.
16:44So right now I'm cooking maple sugar and I want to cook it to, like, almost the point of caramel so you get a nice, deep flavor inside of our butterscotch pudding.
16:53Jamie is making our tasting element look like slugs because the slug slime is used for the waxing.
17:01Good old slug innards.
17:03My only concern when I look at what Jamie's making is, is this going to eat a little sweet?
17:08She's using butterscotch and maple and rum and apple.
17:13That's a lot of sweetness in one bite.
17:15I'm just going to run this to the freezer.
17:18My mommy doesn't look like a mommy yet, but it's coming together.
17:21For our tasting elements, we got dates, cardamom, and chocolate.
17:26So I'm going to be making a chocolate cake and then a sticky toffee date soak for the cake and an orange buttercream.
17:35I am using all brown butter today for flavor.
17:39Brown sugar.
17:40We got our toffee soak right here.
17:43Looks beautiful.
17:45I really hope that they're not just going to use the date as, like, a sweetener.
17:50Once you take that texture out of the equation, it is hard to spot it as a date.
17:56So I'm hoping that Emily uses some of the texture of the date in her tasting element so we get a bit of that chew.
18:03Something that really helps us understand date is the star here.
18:07Our piece is mummy and cats.
18:10And so we've decided that they're going to be walking in the park and the cats are freaking out
18:14because there's a baby there.
18:16But just for a little bit of fun, we have a trash can in our park.
18:19The trash can is almost done.
18:21I'm going to paint it silver.
18:23Only four hours on the clock.
18:25We got this.
18:26We got this.
18:27We do.
18:28We do.
18:29OK.
18:30So I'm just working on the head, the nose.
18:31I'm going to get that on in a minute.
18:33I'm going to start putting on the fur.
18:35To make the fur texture for the werewolf, I'm using serrated potato peeler that you would make ripple chips with.
18:40And I'm digging into the pumpkin.
18:42So I just want fur, you know, maybe a little bit here, a little bit there.
18:46Then I take a V cutter and I go backwards so that some ends will stick up.
18:51And hopefully they'll all look like they're one.
18:54So how are we going to make anxious come across on this?
18:57I think the wife, you know, she's anxious that she's not going to be able to close the door in time and it's already in full mood and he's already turning, you know?
19:04We want to feel very worried.
19:06I want to bring out the fear in her face and the worry because, you know, she's trying to hurry up and get the door closed before his transformation starts.
19:14OK, I'm covering the back of her head brown and then we put her on the wall.
19:18I almost hear anxiety more than I see it, right?
19:21Absolutely.
19:22Since someone's breathing, they make noises.
19:24And so this is a difficult one.
19:25And interestingly enough, this team has chosen to put that not in the main character, but in the supporting character.
19:33I think it's risky.
19:37There you go.
19:38She's on.
19:39She looks worried.
19:40Anxiety.
19:41We have the werewolf in the front.
19:43We have his wife who is the anxious character, but she's in the back towards the door.
19:47So I'm worried that they're putting a lot of that attention in the back where we may not see it.
19:52I want the wife to be the anxious one.
19:54I feel like it would be difficult to make the werewolf look like he's anxious.
19:58Like, what is he going to be scared of?
20:00I'm going to use buttercream for her dress to make it 2D to go into the background.
20:06The wife running for the doorknob will also be partly 3D because I'll be making the wife's head.
20:12But her dress will be blended into the backdrop.
20:15So I'll make that part 2D out of buttercream.
20:17And her hands or legs will be reaching out, made out of modeling chocolate.
20:21Let me do one more frill for her dress, actually.
20:24Yep, that's fine.
20:25Teams, you're looking at three hours.
20:26Three hours left.
20:27No!
20:28We got this.
20:29Oh my god.
20:30We got things left, so we have to step up our game.
20:33We are making wings for our little flying goblins.
20:37Our little goblins are going to be the ones that are waxing our vampire.
20:42I'm using rice paper to make my wings.
20:45I'm using water to make it more flexible, then I'm drying it back.
20:49I'm going to install these little devices that are flapping wings.
20:53To build our goblins, Karine is placing the wing mechanism on top of the body.
20:59And then she's using rice cereal treat and candy melts to really firm it up.
21:04And then placing modeling chocolate over all of it.
21:07I'm going to try to attach my first set of wings.
21:13I need to know if it's working.
21:15I am working on coloring our vampire.
21:30Okay.
21:31We need to put him on.
21:32Yes, yes.
21:33We have to put him on.
21:34Oh.
21:35Up, up, up, up, up, up, up, up, up.
21:38Okay, and stop.
21:40He's there.
21:41I need to put the hair on.
21:44Mm-hmm.
21:45My guy.
21:46Okay.
21:47Making him hairy is important.
21:48Yes.
21:49So our three words that we got were vampire, bravely, and hair.
21:53So he has to have hair.
21:55So I'm using a tool I have to just pull up a little bit of the pumpkin to make it look like he has hair coming off his arms.
22:03And then we're going to just paint the tips of those black so that it's very contrasting.
22:08I'm really selling that he's hairy.
22:10Yes.
22:11More hair.
22:12More hair.
22:13Um, still got to paint that.
22:16A mummy, what's your goal for starting to paint?
22:18I'd like to start painting it as soon as I can, but I don't have everything fully wrapped yet.
22:23Rebecca has so much to do.
22:25She's using very thin sheets of pumpkin and wrapping that around as the mummy wrappings.
22:31But we also want to make an isomalt pumpkin fountain.
22:34What can I help with?
22:35How do you feel about cutting into some pumpkins?
22:38You know what?
22:39I've never carved pumpkins.
22:41Do you want me to teach you some pumpkin ways?
22:42Yeah, tell me what to do.
22:43All right.
22:44If you can, kind of maybe trace it around on the tabletop surface.
22:49I'm still so focused on the mummy, I can't step away from that right now.
22:52So for the fountain, I'm having Emerly cut my pumpkins.
22:55Pumpkin!
22:56It would be cool to be like the first person to do this show as like a sugar artist, a cake artist, and a pumpkin carver.
23:04Three pumpkins.
23:05Beautiful.
23:06Last time, it felt like their board was a little empty.
23:11Now I'm like, this is going to be a very full scene because now there's this gigantic fountain.
23:16Not only is there a fountain, not only are there two cats and the mummy, but there's also got to be that little boy.
23:22And he's got to fit in there somewhere.
23:24What do we think?
23:25It is beautiful!
23:28These strips are because he's transitioning and he's ripping off his T-shirt.
23:32It says T-shirt is going to be shredded from hand to hand.
23:35Three new things that I've never done before.
23:37The big armature.
23:38The airbrushing.
23:39And animals.
23:40I refuse to do animals of any sort.
23:43And yet here I am doing an animal.
23:46The Under Cakers, Margie is really far along with her werewolf character.
23:51I'm really impressed with Margie.
23:52I mean, I love that she's going outside of her comfort zone.
23:55She's doing twice the work that she normally has done thus far, right?
24:00Normally, she just gives us the head.
24:02Mm-hmm.
24:03She's doing a body and a head.
24:04And she's making good time here.
24:06Just make sure your dude is popping off.
24:09It's pumpkin all day.
24:10Pumpkin all day, every day.
24:12Well, right now I'm making the fur baby's face.
24:16And I'm just using Mr. Pointy, my favorite tool, to just kind of put some details.
24:22He has a pig nose and we're working on owl eyes right now.
24:25With a ginger carrot cake, Kim and Natalie are both trying to make the most lovable little Franken fur baby on the planet.
24:31It's got all kinds of different parts, just like Frankenstein.
24:34He's got a koi fish tail.
24:36I'm actually using a pumpkin carving tool to make the little scales.
24:40They do have Frankenstein's pet.
24:42I hope Natalie and David are communicating, right?
24:45Mm-hmm.
24:46So that the Franken pet doesn't look too, too tiny compared to Frankenstein's monster.
24:50I think I'm going to want to take this pet home.
24:53I know.
24:54But you can't because he's the tasting element.
24:57I know.
24:58We got a pumpkin monster that's almost three times bigger than anybody else's.
25:03We said it's pumpkin spotlight.
25:04They gave us pumpkin spotlight.
25:05I see a giant is what I see.
25:07Massive.
25:08A giant of a Franken man.
25:10My one concern for David is because he is so huge, that means more paint, more texture, more detailing than any other character in the room.
25:19And tick tock, we don't have that much time.
25:22There's less than two hours left.
25:23And my favorite part, the most intricate part, the head, I haven't even started it.
25:27I realize I'm going to have to sacrifice a lot of the intricate details that I love to do just to get a finished piece up.
25:33Fastest head ever carved.
25:35We have to convey cautiously.
25:37At this point, I'm just trying to get a face in general.
25:40I know I'm sacrificing not only detail, but maybe the chance to get cautiously really conveyed in his emotions.
25:46He's looking like Frankie.
25:47He's getting there.
25:48Yep.
25:49Serena, how you doing?
25:52We're oranging up the cat.
25:54Serena tends to want to put a lot of time and detail work into her characters.
25:58But we don't have several hours to spend on each cat.
26:01Where's the cat face?
26:03Serena needs to sculpt both of our cats' faces, but she's taking too long painting that.
26:08So Rebecca has to step in and handle that.
26:11But she still needs to finish her mummy.
26:13But what can I help for a little bit?
26:15Can we do this?
26:16I need him brushed.
26:17With white?
26:18With white?
26:19Yeah.
26:20So I step in to help.
26:22So I've been doing a lot.
26:24Emerly is making a ton of progress.
26:26And the stress of not making all of the progress that we need from all three team players is really weighing on us.
26:32I am working on the shape of the baby that's crawling towards our cats.
26:37What you need to do is face.
26:39It's just a blob.
26:40A blob.
26:41Because it's in a costume anyways.
26:42You don't see feet.
26:43Okay.
26:44Okay.
26:45Serena's literally been working on the bottom half of the blob legs for like 20 minutes.
26:49Okay.
26:50What's going on over here?
26:51Well, we can't attach the limbs until he's on the board.
26:53It doesn't need to be attached.
26:54Why does it need to be attached?
26:55It just sits on top.
26:56Pick it all up.
26:57Carry it separate.
26:58Nothing needs to be attached.
26:59It just needs to be able to get over here when it's ready.
27:02Okay.
27:03Okay.
27:04So we need the face.
27:05Okay.
27:06I need you to work faster, please.
27:08Okay.
27:09I'm going to start pouring ice out for the fountain.
27:12One hour left.
27:13You have one hour.
27:14Oh my God.
27:15Can you believe it?
27:17No.
27:18Serena?
27:19Can you work a little bit faster?
27:21We're running out of time.
27:22I'm trying.
27:23I just have the cover on brown.
27:28Okay.
27:29Okay.
27:30It's a little rough.
27:33The baby is a really important element to help tell our story and it is not looking
27:37good.
27:38It doesn't look great.
27:40So what can we do?
27:41It's a little rough.
27:42Definitely needs color.
27:43Are you going to be able to handle that?
27:44Maybe.
27:45I think Serena has gotten really bogged down with the details and has not been able to get
27:54everything that she needs to finished.
27:56Emily, we should get rid of the dog.
27:59The baby face, it's just not working well.
28:02Okay.
28:03Serena, I think this is taking too long.
28:05So let's go ahead and take that out.
28:07Maybe add a little bit more water.
28:09I think that will really help to sell what we already have.
28:11Okay.
28:12Sound good?
28:13Sounds great.
28:14Okay, let's do this.
28:15I'm sad that we have to drop a character.
28:18Unfortunately, time just got a hold of me.
28:21But I still think we have a very strong piece.
28:24I am making cucumbers out of blown isomalt.
28:28We don't have the baby character, but I think with the cucumbers and we're going to have
28:32trash that's wafer paper, tin foil made out of chocolate and the water.
28:36That will be enough to tell a full story.
28:38Almost finished with the cucumbers and then I'll finish up the tin foil and let's fill up
28:43the trash can.
28:44Okay, I need to get to the trash can.
28:4630 minutes on the clock.
28:48It's all thin, but it's working.
28:51I might just do two coats.
28:53I got to get the color on this thing.
28:55But there's highlights and shadows.
28:57Something this big sounded really good on paper.
28:59But at this point, I'm not so sure it was a good idea.
29:01Let's talk about Oven Coven.
29:03It just looks completely like monotoned.
29:07Yeah.
29:08It looks muddy.
29:09You know, the Frankenstein's monster, we're always associating that character with like a green
29:13face and a black suit.
29:14Yeah.
29:15And right now, head to toe, he looks the same color.
29:18So I'm covering my cake in modeling chocolate so I can start hand painting it to look like pieces
29:27of steak.
29:28Our three words were werewolf, anxiously, and blood.
29:31And we still need to make the blood.
29:33So on the floor would be the werewolf food, which would be steak covered with blood.
29:38We're making a giant hollow ham.
29:40It's a ham cloche.
29:41And we're gonna make it so the dessert can go under it.
29:44I'm taking rice cereal treats, nonstick sprayed the bowl.
29:47Gonna shape it out like a ham, cover it in chocolate.
29:50And then Tanisha's gonna spray it to look like a giant ham.
29:53Five minutes left.
29:54Five minutes.
29:55Only three.
29:56Oh no.
29:57This is not good.
29:58You okay?
29:59You okay?
30:00I am freaking out.
30:01I'm working on making some used waxing strips with gelatin treated wafer paper and some corn
30:08silk for extra disgusting hair awesomeness.
30:12It's really gross.
30:13We're gonna put him on, yeah?
30:15Yes.
30:16Like push him in as far as you can, yeah.
30:19Like, yeah.
30:22I'm making our solar panels right now.
30:28One minute!
30:29We need to airbrush some of the cats.
30:32Just pick up the pace a little bit.
30:33Oh, I'm just, I'm trying to make his nipples like even wider.
30:36Yeah.
30:37Almost done.
30:38Did you try that blush brush?
30:39Watch.
30:40Like go in and act like you're like highlighting him.
30:43Like you're highlighting his cheekbones.
30:45I'm just trying.
30:46Come on.
30:47Put some makeup on.
30:48Yep.
30:49Just shine him up.
30:50Just lighten him up.
30:51Ten.
30:52Spilled blood.
30:53Nine.
30:54So disgusting.
30:55Eight.
30:56If you can get the picture.
30:57Seven.
30:58Six.
30:59Clean up work.
31:00Five.
31:01I'm gonna get the tasting element ready.
31:03Four.
31:04Three.
31:05That's so nasty.
31:06Two.
31:07Panic mug, panic mug, panic mug.
31:09One.
31:10Time's up.
31:11Great job.
31:12Thank you.
31:13Yeah.
31:14Your ovens look so good.
31:15Sorry to take such a mess.
31:16It was way too much pumpkin.
31:17I'm sorry.
31:18It shows, it shows light.
31:19Same.
31:20Sorry.
31:21If anything bad happens, it's my fault.
31:22I'll take, I'll own it.
31:23Up and coming.
31:24You played the Halloween Wars word game.
31:25What words did you get?
31:26The fun words.
31:27Frankenstein, cautiously, and love.
31:30Frankenstein has been cautiously looking for love his entire existence.
31:34He's gonna give it one last try and create his own love.
31:38His little Franken fur baby.
31:39He even has to cautiously rely on solar power to power his little buddy.
31:55Frankenstein is all pumpkin every bit.
31:57Fur baby is made of cake as well as sugar solar panels with a little bit of cake.
32:03Sugar backdrop with the sun, all the sugar windows.
32:08David, you definitely went gigantic with your pumpkin.
32:11My favorite part of your character is actually the fact that you use the pumpkin shell for
32:15the hair.
32:16It looks super believable.
32:18Listen, this is such a large pumpkin piece that you went with the size but not as much
32:23into the detail.
32:24When we think of Frankenstein's monster, we instantly think of like a darker suit and
32:27then like that recognizable iconic green face.
32:30So the color breakup is just not enough contrast for us.
32:34That Franken pet is so stinking cute.
32:38This.
32:39This.
32:40Why does this do it for everybody?
32:42It's at one ear and you're like, oh, I'll take you home.
32:45I think that there's some like implied caution here just because the pet is so small and so
32:51cute and he is so big and so large.
32:53So there's an implication there, but I think that you guys really could have put a finer point on it.
32:58What were your tasting elements you got?
32:59We got ginger, caramel and carrot.
33:01Right.
33:02Already go kill the animal.
33:03I'm just kidding.
33:04So I made for you today a ginger carrot cake with a smoked bourbon pecan caramel and then a
33:11butterscotch buttercream.
33:12Natalie, this cake is super moist.
33:15There are chunks of carrots in here.
33:17So that adds another texture.
33:19It's definitely leaning on the sweeter side, especially with the smoked caramelized pecans as well.
33:24I think I'm missing a little bit of the ginger.
33:27This is a delicious carrot cake.
33:29I think because you've got this added element of these smoky pecans, which are delicious.
33:34I don't know that the ginger stood a chance to really show up.
33:37Thank you.
33:38Thank you.
33:39Oven Coven.
33:40Thank you very much.
33:41Thank you guys.
33:42Thank you.
33:43Wow.
33:44Good job.
33:45Good job.
33:46Wicked sculptors.
33:47What were your words?
33:48Mummy, awkwardly and cats.
33:51So Murgatroyd, he really enjoys spending his days curled up with his cats, but he decided to take them for a walk.
33:58Little did he know that they would encounter a trash can full of the thing that they are most afraid of.
34:03Murgatroyd is trying awkwardly to get them to continue their walk.
34:07Murgatroyd is made completely out of pumpkin, as is the fountain basins.
34:12There's isomalt as the cucumbers and the water.
34:16And the cats are made of rice cereal treats coated in modeling chocolate.
34:20Tonight is the pumpkin spotlight.
34:23And Rebecca, I love your pumpkin character.
34:26I love all the parts of the body that are revealed outside of the wrapping, like the ribs here, you know, because of the crop top he's wearing.
34:33I see the awkward in his face, but because he got rid of the baby character, there's a big blank space in the front.
34:40If you had moved your armature or moved your character closer to the front, we wouldn't be left with such an empty spot in the front there.
34:47For me, one of the most successful parts of this entire display is that jaw.
34:53To me, that's like...
34:54Like, to me, that's awkward.
34:56The other part that I think is really beautiful, Serena, is this front cat.
34:59I think you've got this beautiful arching of the spine.
35:02I know that you nixed the boy in the dog costume, and you focused here on the foil and the cucumbers and the water.
35:09I just don't know that the story is really loud and clear.
35:16Can you tell us what your assigned ingredients were?
35:18We got cardamom, chocolate, and dates.
35:21I made a cardamom and chocolate cake, and then I did a toffee date soak.
35:27And then I also have an orange Italian buttercream.
35:30Emily, I think you've given us a really rich, extravagant, almost, chocolate cake.
35:36I get the sweetness from the date.
35:38I wish you had left bigger chunks of date in here.
35:41I think that the texture of your chocolate cake is very heavy.
35:45So I feel like the textures are not quite there, but the flavors are loud and strong.
35:50I liked it.
35:55Thank you so much.
35:57Thank you.
35:58I...
36:01Okay.
36:02Poisonous perfection.
36:04What words did you get?
36:05We got vampire hair and bravely.
36:09There's nothing more brave than a hairy vampire entering a wax salon ready to accept his painful fate.
36:17The vampire is made out of pumpkin, of course.
36:20The goblins are a modeling chocolate and rice cereal treat.
36:23The glass door and the sconce in the back are sugar, as well as the goblins' eyes.
36:28Again, you just bring the funny, like, every week.
36:31In terms of telling the story, giving us the emotion, hitting all the words on that list, you did it.
36:37Well done.
36:38I also love that you have this gigantic piece of pumpkin balanced out by these sort of light and airy bumblebee-esque goblins.
36:46This is such an incredible piece.
36:49It's just such a great, beautifully sculpted character.
36:53That beautiful sugar door in the back there.
36:55Just the knuckles, if they were, like, just a little tighter, and if you painted just the bones here whiter than the rest, he would really look like he's just knuckling it.
37:05And what's your tasting element made out of?
37:07We got apple, rum, and maple.
37:10So I made some slugs.
37:12The slugs are filled with a maple butterscotch budino and with caramelized rum apples and a cornflake maple crunch.
37:22And it's all in a milk chocolate shell.
37:24I love that you poached the apples in the rum.
37:28They are complementing each other very well.
37:31And it doesn't eat too sweet.
37:33I do get, like, a little bit of the aroma of the maple without too much of the sweetness.
37:37So really smart there.
37:38I can taste the apple loud and clear.
37:40I can taste the rum for sure.
37:42I think you did a really thoughtful, great job here.
37:44Thank you.
37:45Poisonous perfection.
37:46Great job.
37:49That went really well.
37:50That was good.
37:51That was good.
37:52Under Cakers, what words did you get?
37:55So the words we got were werewolf, anxiously, and blood.
38:00Waylon and Wanda have been handling Waylon's condition for the better part of a decade.
38:04Wanda creates his favorite foods and gets him locked before the moon comes up.
38:08This time, they're running a little bit late, and they are very anxiously waiting to close the door.
38:13The main character, Waylon, is made of pumpkin.
38:15The chalice is pumpkin.
38:16And then we have steaks made of cake.
38:19And Wanda is made of cereal treats.
38:21And the backboard is painted out of buttercream and fondant.
38:25The adverb anxiously is so difficult to convey.
38:29It's a risk that you put that emotion into the back character as opposed to your front pumpkin character.
38:34But her face definitely looks anxious.
38:37And Nils, I know this is not the sugar spotlight, but you gave us some beautiful supporting sugar pieces there.
38:42But I think the one piece that really stands out to me is this backdrop, Tanisha.
38:47So much texture, so many beautiful colors there.
38:50Margie, tonight's your night, honey, whether you like it or not.
38:53And I think you liked it.
38:54I did like it.
38:55I love the level of detail that you carved into your werewolf character, from the fur to the very impeccable musculature.
39:05One thing that I don't think works so well, I wish she was looking at her husband, because I think then it would be very clear that the source of her anxiety is him.
39:14What were your assigned ingredients?
39:16Our assigned ingredients were orange, cranberry, and clove.
39:19So we have a white chocolate orange vanilla mousse with sugar cranberries, candy ginger on top, and then a graham cracker clove crust.
39:29I taste all three super loud, super clear.
39:33I love the tartness from the cranberry.
39:35I don't agree.
39:38Really?
39:39This never happens.
39:40What is going on?
39:41Artie, what do you think?
39:42I know.
39:43I feel like I don't taste the clove as much.
39:45Really?
39:46It is so bold and so brave.
39:48I just wish that the clove came through a little stronger.
39:51Thank you, Undercakers.
39:52Thank you, guys.
39:53Good job, guys.
39:55This challenge required your most ingenious level of creativity yet.
40:01One team was able to turn three simple words into a terrifying display that the judges couldn't look away from.
40:12Congratulations.
40:14Poisonous Perfection, you're the winner of this challenge.
40:18Unfortunately, Wicked Sculptors and Oven Coven. Both of you took big risks, but your final displays left the judges a little puzzled.
40:33Wicked Sculptors, you each had real winning moments, and that jutting jaw really sells the emotion of awkwardly.
40:42But the piece as a whole still feels unfinished, with a big empty space right in the front of your display and a story that doesn't make sense.
40:50And now you find yourselves in the bottom two again.
40:54This week, the spotlight was on the pumpkin carver.
40:57And David, you took that challenge head on.
41:00We love the inventiveness of using the pumpkin shell for the hairline.
41:04Unfortunately, it does feel like the case of quantity over quality.
41:09And while we fell in love with his furry friend, we don't get cautiously here.
41:14Unfortunately, the team that won't be moving on is...
41:24Oven Coven.
41:27Looking back, I would have definitely made him smaller in hindsight just so I could have made it a much more refined piece.
41:33Congratulations, Poisonous Perfection, Undercakers, and Wicked Sculptors.
41:38You made it to the semifinals.
41:40We'll see you next time.
41:44Next time, we are in the semifinal.
41:47The three remaining teams dare to enter an evil lair.
41:52I never did something this huge, but why not now?
41:55This could go either really great or really bad.
41:58In the semifinal.
42:01I have 90 그거.
42:02It's not good.
42:03I have 90 people.
42:04I do get to see you this game either.
42:05Women the Winner
42:13We will be right on the next day.
42:15You do very well.
42:19Is it really a time to be added to Evil Human Studios?
42:21We will go to Evil Human Studios and we can all zombie Dinner Kris.
