Transcript
00:00Human trafficking does not discriminate. Victims can come from any age, gender,
00:04culture, religion or socio-economic background. Some people might be at higher
00:09risk of becoming a victim of modern slavery due to certain vulnerabilities.
00:13This might include a poorer socio-economic background, language
00:18barriers, an unregulated visa status or a lack of knowledge or understanding of
00:23Australian laws. General indicators of human trafficking could include violence
00:28or threats of violence, a lack of access or control of earnings or ID documents,
00:34it might be an inability to communicate or move around freely, or it could include
00:39someone who is showing signs of anxiety or fear. Human trafficking is a societal
00:45problem that all Australians can help solve or combat. Any piece of information,
00:50however big or small, can help protect a person who is at risk of exploitation.
00:54The AFP is always here to support and protect victims of human trafficking,
00:59but for those individuals who don't feel comfortable coming forward through police
01:03in the first instance, you can always seek assistance via the Salvation Army-led
01:08additional referral pathway.
