00:23He says they remain in constant fear.
00:25It is unfortunate what was happening for the story.
00:29It has found that it is due to an error of new investors, fears and trepidation within the business community.
00:36Meanwhile, Acting Deputy Director of Crime Stoppers, Darren Carmichael, says crime remains a serious concern, especially when it is brazen and unrestrained.
00:48And I can speak not just as the Honourable Director of Crime Stoppers, but certainly as a citizen.
00:53When we see crimes, and sometimes as bold-faced and fast-faced as we see it occurring, it is, of course, cause of concern.
01:02So we, you know, Crime Stoppers is a line that is open to anyone with any information regarding crime, gangs, whether it's fraud, whether it's in terms of white-collar crime, or whether it's any other type of crime.
01:15We are, the hotline is open for information from the public where that is concerned.
01:19Leela Darasingh tells TV6, if crime continues to rise, the economy will fail.
01:26He says crime needs to be tackled head-on, warning that citizens and business owners should no longer be victims.
01:34With whoever is in charge of national security, whoever is in charge of defense, and we are going to be partners for, for some reason, for business.
01:44How should we do with criminals?
01:47These are some of our ideas.
01:48We want to hear your ideas.
01:50Let's see how we can do it together.
01:52That is what is needed, as such.
01:55And maybe the government will need to look at how it is, for national consultants, regarding crime and security.
02:01They exist.
02:02They can be sourced.
02:03For several months, members of the business community have called on government to grant them firearm users' licenses, even under the previous administration.
02:14As businesses have come under attack by criminals, suffering losses, sometimes in the hundreds of thousands, and, in some cases, even losing lives.
02:25Today, Mr. Leela Darasingh says the process for issuing FULs needs to be revised.
02:31Mr. Leela Darasingh, the police is sitting on their lawyers regarding the issuance of FULs for legitimate and decent businessmen who are going to acquire these firearms licenses to give themselves a mighty chance against criminals.
02:51That has not been addressed.
02:52Nicole M. Romany, TV6 News.
