Donald Trump makes major announcements from the White House, claiming full credit for brokering the Gaza ceasefire. The former President says he “spoke a little bit tough” with Hamas — warning of “complete obliteration” if the deal was violated. Trump says all sides now want to rebuild the Middle East, as he prepares to fly to Israel to address the Knesset and then to Egypt. He also confirmed that the bodies of around 28 Israeli hostages are being unearthed, with the rest expected to return Monday.

00:00What did I do with respect to them? Well, you know, I spoke a little bit tough and that's what would happen.
00:05I mean, you have to speak tough. That's a tough world. That's a tough, as they say, neighborhood.
00:11And they're tough people. They're very tough people and they're smart people.
00:15Yeah, I mean, I'll be there because I'll be going to, I think, well, I'll go to Cairo.
00:19I think that's where we're going as opposed to the place of the signing.
00:23And we have a lot of leaders from all over the world coming to, you know, they've been invited.
00:27A person who actually got the Nobel Prize called today, called me and said, I'm accepting this in honor of you because you really deserved it.
00:38A very nice thing to do. I didn't say then give it to me, though. I think she might have. She was very nice.
00:46As you know, on Monday, the hostages come back. They're getting them now. I mean, they're getting them now.
00:51They're in some pretty rough places. They're also getting the bodies, approximately 28 bodies.
00:59And some of those bodies are being unearthed.
01:04Have you canceled your meeting with President Xi?
01:06No, I haven't canceled.
01:07But I don't know that we're going to have it, but I'm going to be there regardless, so I would assume we might have it.
01:12I would never have been able to bring him. Now, I'm not sure that Pascal would like to say, but behind the scenes, he did say tariffs were a big reason he came here.
01:21And also the fact he loved Virginia. He liked this guy. He liked me.
01:25I think the November 5th election was a very important date. We had a good election, and that was important.
01:32But, yeah, he's here. A lot of – I can speak for almost everybody that's here. Most of them are here because of tariffs.
01:39Because you have to understand, he has no tariffs. If you build in this country, there are no tariffs.
01:44I'm going to ask you about China, if I could. I just want to confirm, have you canceled your meeting with President Xi?
01:50No, I haven't canceled, but I don't know that we're going to have it.
01:53But I'm going to be there regardless, so I would assume we might have it.
01:56But, you know, they hit the world with something that really is not anything that people are going to do.
02:04And it was shocking, I can tell you. Howard and I and Todd, we all – Scott, we were all speaking about it before.
02:14And it was – we said, where did that come from? It was just – that was out of the blue, right?
02:19And out of the blue, they came up with this whole import-export concept, and nobody – nobody knew anything about it.
02:28So, if they roll back their export controls, the new announcement, would you roll back –
02:32Yeah, look, we're going to have to see what happens. That's why I made it November 1st. We'll see what happens, yeah.
02:37Mr. President – Mr. President, go ahead, please.
02:40What else besides software could be on the table in terms of export controls?
02:43Oh, a lot more. A lot more. I mean, you have –
02:46Yes, but you have a lot more. We have airplanes. We have airplane parts. You remember that from last time?
02:53We were just surprised at China. I have a very good relationship with President Xi, and they did that.
02:57This is not something that I, you know, instigated. This was just a response to something that they did.
03:03And they didn't really aim it at us. They aimed it at the whole world. The whole world is – is subject to it.
03:11So, I thought it was very, very bad. But we have many things, including a big thing, is aeroplane.
03:15But they have a lot of Boeing planes, and they need parts, and lots of things like that. Steve?
03:19How did you persuade Israeli Prime Minister to accept the Gaza deal, and what will be your message to the Knesset when you speak to them?
03:28Well, he wanted it, you know. It's been a long time. He's been fighting a long time. He's been fighting hard. He wanted it.
03:33It's a great deal for Israel, but it's a great deal for everybody, for Arabs, for Muslims, for everybody, for the world.
03:42And as you know, on Monday, the hostages come back. They're getting them now. I mean, they're getting them now.
03:48They're in some pretty rough places under Earth. They're in some pretty rough places where only a few people know where they are, in some cases.
03:57So, they're getting them, and they're also getting the bodies, approximately 28 bodies.
04:05And some of those bodies are being unearthed right now as we speak. I mean, they're working on it right now as we speak.
04:13It's a tragedy. It's a tragedy. No, he was very happy with it.
04:17And I can tell you that I saw Israel dancing in the streets, but they were dancing in Qatar and Saudi Arabia and UAE and many, many countries.
04:26I saw Egypt. They were dancing. I'll be going to Israel. I'll be speaking at the Knesset, I think, early on.
04:36And then I'm also going to Egypt. They were terrific. But all of the countries were great.
04:41Indonesia was great. Jordan was great. They were all great. Everybody, everybody wants this deal to happen.
04:48What happens in Gaza the day after the hostage release?
04:52Day after what?
04:54The day after the hostage release, what happens there then?
04:57Well, hopefully you're going to have great success for, I call it everlasting success. I think you will, too.
05:02I think you're going to have tremendous success. And Gaza is going to be rebuilt. And you have some very wealthy countries, as you know, over there.
05:12And it would take a small fraction of their wealth to do that. And I think they want to do it.
05:19We're also setting up, as you know, a board of peace. It's called the board of peace. I don't know if that's the final name, but the word peace is definitely in there.
05:28And they ask me if I chair it. We'll make sure things go well.
05:32And how confident are you that the ceasefire will hold?
05:35I think it'll hold, yeah. I think it'll hold. They're all tired of the fighting.
05:41Don't forget, you had October 7th, which was a horrible day, 1,200 people killed.
05:47But Hamas has lost 58,000 people. That's big retribution. That's big retribution. People understand that.
05:56So, no, I think they're all tired of fighting. And this really gives the whole Middle East.
06:02This is beyond Gaza. Gaza is very important, but this is beyond Gaza. This is peace in the Middle East.
06:08And it is a beautiful thing. You know, it's a term that you and I have been hearing since we were very young, right?
06:13And now we have a chance of really having that. And as you know, most of the countries have passed all these resolutions.
06:20Every country is there. Iran came in. I was very happy to see that. I was very honored that Iran came in.
06:27They said they support it. Russia came in. President Putin, he supports it fully, very fully.
06:34So I was happy to see even countries that weren't necessarily involved in the process.
06:39They all support it. I don't know of anybody that does it.
06:42And I've never seen happier people than many of these places, not just Israel, many of these places.
06:49They're all dancing on the streets. I've never seen anything like it.
06:52Mr. President, Mr. President.
06:53Go ahead, please, in the back.
06:54Thank you. What guarantees did you give Hamas to persuade them that Israel will restart the bombing campaign once the hostages have been exchanged?
07:01What did I do with respect to them? Well, you know, I spoke a little bit tough and that's what would happen.
07:08I mean, you have to speak tough. That's a tough world. That's a tough, as they say, neighborhood.
07:13And they're tough people. They're very tough people. They're smart people.
07:18They're good negotiators. You know, they have a lot of things going.
07:22They put that to good use. They're going to be very, very successful.
07:25But they knew the retribution would be tremendous, unsustainable.
07:30Well, it would have been unsustainable.
07:33It would have been it would have been complete obliteration.
07:37And they didn't want that. And nobody wants it at this point.
07:42They want to get on with, you know, rebuilding the entire Middle East.
07:45It's not only Gaza. It's going to be the entire Middle East.
07:49They're going to be able to live in peace. Now, we have some little hotspots, but they're very small.
07:54You know, the ones I'm talking about, they're very small.
07:56They'll be very easy to put out. Those fires are going to be put out very quickly.
08:00Yes, ma'am.
08:01Thank you, Mr. President.
08:02Talking about the Middle East still, going to the phases that come after this first phase,
08:07is there a consensus on the additional points in your plan?
08:10Or are the details still being fine to you?
08:12I think there is consensus on most of it.
08:14And some of the details, like anything else, will be worked out because you'll find out
08:17that when you're sitting in a beautiful room in Egypt, you know, it's easier to work something out.
08:25But then sometimes it doesn't work from a practical standpoint.
08:27So certain little things. But for the most part, there's consensus. Yes.
08:31Do you intend to hash that out when you're in Egypt?
08:33I might. Yeah, I mean, I'll be there because I'll be going to I think we'll I'll go to Cairo.
08:37I think that's where we're going, as opposed to the place of the signing.
08:41And we have a lot of leaders from all over the world coming to you.
08:44You know, they've been invited. And then I'm coming back.
08:47I believe it's Tuesday night for Charlie Kirk, a friend of mine, a friend of all of ours,
08:52a friend of a lot of the people right here.
08:54And we're giving him the Presidential Medal of Freedom,
08:57which is the highest honor you get outside of the Congressional Medal of Honor.
09:01One's military, one's civilian.
09:04But it's it's the greatest honor.
09:07And Erica's beautiful wife is going to be here and a lot of people are going to be here.
09:13So, you know, it's not easy for me to get back.
09:16It's it's a very quick trip, but I'll be making two major stops.
09:20And then I'll be on the plane trying to get back in time for Charlie.
09:24They're going to have a great celebration at the White House in the East Room of the White House.
09:29Mr. President.
09:29Russell Boat said the reductions in force have begun related to this shutdown.
09:36How many layoffs have you authorized for this first round and from which agencies?
09:41And it will be Democrat oriented because we figure, you know, they started this thing,
09:44so they should be Democrat oriented.
09:46It'll be a lot.
09:47And we'll announce the numbers over the next couple of days.
09:49But it'll be a lot of people all because of the Democrats.
09:52I mean, they want to give one and a half trillion dollars to people that came into the country illegally.
09:57More important than that, because we all have a big heart.
09:59We want people to be taken care of.
10:01But, you know, we have zero people coming in.
10:04You know that, Glenn, right?
10:05It's that's a pretty impressive number, even for a successful governor.
10:09But we've had for the last four months zero people coming in illegally coming in, but they're coming in legally.
10:15They're coming in through a process that's really a really good process right now,
10:19because we want people to come in, but they have to come in legally.
10:21And so what we're doing is as as these different groups come to, we're going to make a determination.
10:29Do we want them a lot?
10:29And and I must tell you, a lot of them happen to be Democrat oriented.
10:34These are people that the Democrats wanted that in many cases were not appropriate.
10:40We fought them at the time and it was ultimately signed in.
10:46And some of these people, these are largely people that the Democrats want.
10:50Many of them will be fired.
10:52Yes, please.
10:53Behind.
10:53Yeah.
10:54The Nobel Peace Prize was announced this morning.
10:56Your thoughts.
10:57Which one?
10:58The Nobel Peace Prize.
10:59Your thoughts.
11:00Look, I including a very big one.
11:05And I'm not sure, you know, when you say big, it's certainly, I think, to the mind of most,
11:09the most important deal ever made in terms of peace.
11:11But the one we just signed, it's been signed, sealed, and it's going to start taking place
11:17now.
11:17It's already started.
11:19Monday is going to be a very big day when the hostages come back.
11:21But I made eight deals, transactions of wars.
11:26One was 31 years going on.
11:2910 million people were killed.
11:30One was 34 years.
11:32One was 36, 37.
11:33One was 10.
11:35One was just starting.
11:37Two were just starting, actually.
11:38But they were well on their way.
11:40In the case of India and Pakistan, seven planes were shot down.
11:43It was a bad one.
11:45And I did it largely through trade.
11:48I mean, that one, numerous of them.
11:51I talked tariffs.
11:52I said, look, if you're going to do that, we're going to put very big tariffs on your country.
11:55And they were both great.
11:58They stopped fighting.
11:59And they were two nuclear powers.
12:00So, you know, they're all big.
12:02They're every one of them big.
12:03You take a look at the Congo.
12:06You take a look at the Congo and Rwanda.
12:0910 million people killed over a long period of time.
12:13Got that one solved.
12:14We did a total of eight.
12:16As of this, two days ago, I would have said seven, which I did say.
12:19But the other one was signed up, sealed.
12:22As you know, Israel signed it just now.
12:26They signed it, and they approved it today, their parliament.
12:29And it's a great honor to be involved with so many.
12:32So the person who actually got the Nobel Prize called today, called me, and said, I'm accepting this in honor of you because you really deserved it.
12:44A very nice thing to do.
12:47I didn't say, then give it to me, though.
12:50I think she might have.
12:51She was very nice.
12:53And I've been helping her along the way.
12:55They need a lot of help in Venezuela.
12:57Well, it's a basic disaster.
12:59So, and you could also say it was given out for 24, and I was running for office in 24.
13:05You know, all of the transactions that we did in terms of closing.
13:09But there are those that say we did so much that they should have done it.
13:14But I don't take, I'm happy because I saved millions of lives.
13:18Many millions of lives.
13:19And speaking of somebody that saves lives, don't ever play golf with it.
13:23Because Keegan Bradley just walked in, one of the greatest golfers in the world, the captain of the Ryder Cup.
13:28And man, I'll tell you, you did a good job.
13:30You almost came back.
13:31I turned on.
13:32I said, you know, I sort of turned off.
13:35It wasn't looking good.
13:36And then a little while later, I turned on.
13:38I said, you guys might make, that would have been the miracle.
13:41What a great job.
13:42He's respected by those golfers like nobody.
13:44And I just want to compliment you, Keegan.
13:47That was an incredible job.
13:49Right here, we have a lot of unfriendly fake news media.
13:52But, and he's not used to that.
13:53He's used to getting only good publicity, I think, Howard.
13:56These are all golfers.
13:57But you're some golfer, I'll tell you that.
14:00And some leader.
14:01Thank you very much.
14:02Great job.
14:03Thank you, Keegan.
14:03Mr. President, on China.
14:05Yeah, please.
14:06On immigration, ICE are making arrests, targeted arrests at courthouses in New York City and around the country.
14:13Criminals are arresting criminals, that's right.
14:15Yeah, go ahead.
14:16I'm happy about it.
14:18I want them to arrest criminals.
14:19And if you take a look at D.C., a year ago, D.C. was, this, our great capital, was a very unsafe place.
14:26You know that.
14:27Some of you were mugged and talk openly about it.
14:30Some of the media was mugged.
14:33But right now, D.C. is one of the safest places in the whole country.
14:37The restaurants are booming.
14:39They're opening up new restaurants.
14:41The restaurants were all closing.
14:42Now you can't get into a restaurant.
14:44They're opening up new restaurants.
14:46It took 12 days for us.
14:47We sent in not politically correct military.
14:52We sent them in based on merit.
14:54You know, we won the case in the Supreme Court.
14:56Everything now is based on merit.
14:58And our country was founded on things based on merit.
15:01Like Keegan Bradley is not going to be playing golf if he wasn't a great player.
15:06If he shoots lower scores, boy, there's no more merit system than that one, Keegan, right?
15:11If you miss a putt, they don't say, oh, that's okay.
15:16Let's take it again, do they?
15:17No, it's based on merit.
15:19But everything's based on merit.
15:21And we're back to the merit system.
15:23And when they saw that military, that military is all about merit.
15:27They're big, strong people that want to, they're patriots too.
15:31And you take a look at D.C.
15:32And now we're in Memphis.
15:34And Memphis was really crime ridden.
15:36It was terrible.
15:37A lot of people being killed.
15:39And they say in 12 days, they can't even believe how much better it is.
15:42And it'll take probably a month over there.
15:46And we're heading to Chicago because we want to save Chicago.
15:50Do you know they had over 4,000 people killed in Chicago over a short period?
15:534,000 people.
15:55And I have to watch this slob of a governor stand up and say that, well, everything's okay.
16:00We've got it under control.
16:02They had 4,000 people murdered over a very short period of time.
16:07There's not a city in the world, I don't believe, that can claim merit.
16:11You know, you hear so much about different, I won't, you know, embarrass anybody, like
16:16by saying Mexico City or by saying anywhere in Afghanistan.
16:20There's no place like that.
16:23And then I have to listen to the mayor who's got a 5% approval rate, maybe less.
16:29He's an incompetent man.
16:30And the governor's an incompetent guy.
16:33He's a guy that was thrown out of his family business like a dog.
16:36And I know his family very well.
16:39And now he's a governor.
16:40And when I watch him trying to say that it's okay, we have crime under control.
16:44I lost 4,000 people over a very short period of time.
16:51Over, I believe it's like 6,000, 7,000 people were shot but didn't die.
16:57But 4,000 people died.
16:58And then he gets up and talks about how it's not a problem.
17:03Or Portland, Oregon.
17:04I mean, every time I look at that place, the place is burning down.
17:07There's fires all over the place.
17:09When a store owner, there are very few of them left.
17:11But when a store owner rebuilds a store, they build it out of plywood.
17:15And they don't put up storefronts anymore.
17:16They just put wood up because they know it's going to be ripped down.
17:19And then I hear how wonderful it is.
17:21It's not wonderful.
17:22It's a disaster.
17:23That's almost an insurrection, that place.
17:25So we put our people in there.
17:27And they do the job.
17:28And they've really done the job.
17:29And the beautiful thing is we've done it.
17:3212 days we had this place safe.
17:34And now it's, I would say, within a month it was beautiful.
17:38And it continues to be.
17:39That was three months ago.
17:42I'll tell you, D.C. now is one of the hottest places.
17:45Just like this country.
17:46We were a dead country.
17:47And you've heard me say it a hundred times.
17:49We were a dead country.
17:50King of Saudi Arabia said it.
17:53Others say.
17:54The emir of Qatar said it.
17:57Many.
17:58UAE said it.
17:59The leader, great leader, UAE.
18:01All great leaders.
18:03They said effectively the same thing.
18:05One year ago we had a dead country.
18:07Now we have the hottest country anywhere in the world.
18:10I just want to thank everybody.
18:12And I want to, in particular, thank AstraZeneca.
18:15What a great company you have.
18:17What a company you've built.
18:18You've been there a long time and done some job.
18:20It's an honor to have you.
18:22I assume you're going to build.
18:23So it's 4.5 billion for a plant.
18:26That's a pretty big plant, isn't it?
18:27I was going to say, could he make it a little bit more?
18:30Well, we have a couple of them where they're going to spend 65 billion on one plant.
18:34You know, AI.
18:36All I know is it's, you know, AI is based on information.
18:39I hope they're right about information.
18:41I don't know.
18:42You've got to make a lot of money to.
18:43There's got to be a lot of information out there.
18:45But that seems to be pretty hot.
18:47But we have a lot.
18:48We're leading the world on information on AI, as you know, by a lot.
18:52It's not even close.
18:53So we're doing a job.
18:54And I want to thank everybody.
18:56But in particular, Pascal, thank you very much.
18:58It's a great honor.
19:00Thank you so much.
