Argentina hammered Nigeria 4-0 to reach the quarter-finals in style.   Also in another South America versus Africa contest, Colombia defeated South Africa 3-1.   Plus there were two games in which extra time goals had to decide the winners as Norway edged Paraguay 1-0, while France also scored a solitary item to get past Japan.
