00:00What's happening everyone, Nick here from TV box stop and welcome back to yet another

00:05Android TV box review. For today's review we have the latest model from VC box. This model

00:11is called the VC box elite mini. And in my in-depth review you will see most of what it has to offer,

00:18at least what I'm allowed to show. And for those of you who know about these boxes will understand

00:24the reason for the high price tag placed on these models and what it can do for you.

00:29And why VC box is rated the best in this category of boxes.

00:34So don't go anywhere my review begins right after this.

00:46So I'm back and let's get started. So in this purchase you have your usual contents starting

00:52with the VC box elite model itself. You get one bluetooth voice remote with higher learning keys.

00:59You get one HDMI cable, one external antenna, a 5V to amps DC power adapter, and a user manual.

01:10Its design consists of its usual plastic shell with the VC box branding.

01:16For IO you get one HDMI 2.1 port, one optical audio, one AV port, one Ethernet LAN port, two USB

01:252.0 ports, a micro SD card reader, the connector pin for the external antenna, and its DC power socket.

01:34At the front you have an LED power light and LED display. And below the box you have four rubber

01:41feet cutouts for wall mounting and ventilation holes. So upon first startup you have the VC box animation,

01:50followed by the pairing of the Bluetooth remote, then the first startup wizard, then you are taken to the launcher.

02:01So here I'm at the launcher. It's your standard VC box launcher and it's called the grape launcher.

02:07It features horizontal scrolling panels. The operating system is Android TV OS so you don't get a navigation

02:16bar or status bar. At the bottom it does however come with shortcuts to its settings area. You have

02:23launcher settings where you can add parental control. You can assign startup apps. You can perform firmware

02:31updates. You can reset the launcher. And you can use custom wallpapers. If the box's memory is filled and

02:40the box starts to move slowly, you can free up system resources by clicking on the one click memory

02:46cleaner button. Its basic system information shows that its operating system is Android 12 tvOS. Here is its

02:55current firmware build information. But unfortunately you do not get access to developer options. So take

03:02note of that if you intend to purchase. So at a price point of $369 with a 10% discount using the link

03:11provided in the description. Let's see what this high price is all about. If you are new to Android boxes,

03:18this is not your regular standard Android TV box. This box falls into the category of live TV and video

03:25on demand. However, these services do not come pre-installed on the box. And the decision to do

03:31so is solely yours for which you take full responsibility according to their usage disclaimer.

03:38With that said, I would like to state categorically that the VC box branded boxes are the best in the

03:44industry at what they do. And without going into much detail, I can guarantee you that you will not get

03:51any buffering once you have an internet connection speed of over 200 Mbps. At the lower speeds I

03:57advise you stick to the 1080p and 720p streams. If you have really fast internet you can go for the 4K

04:05HDR streams. So from external sources using their APK app store you can access the following apps.

04:12With VC box you get 4 main default apps and you get 11 alternatives. These 4 main apps alone outperform

04:22all the streaming models on the market. These apps are guaranteed by VC box and they will be updated

04:28automatically occasionally when you start the app, but they will never be removed. However, there are

04:34literally thousands of live TV channels from all over the world that cannot be accommodated in these 4 apps

04:39alone. So to pick up the slack they have included 11 alternative bonus live TV and video only man apps

04:47that may appear to be the same but have lots of differences in channel lineup and sources they feed

04:52from. This allows you access to thousands of unlimited live TV channels and video only man movies from

04:58various sources. So if one isn't to your liking or doesn't have your country or region programming,

05:04the chances are it's in one of the others. Before I open these apps I would like

05:09to inform you that most of these alternative elite apps feature an adult content section

05:15which you can block using parental controls in each app with a password. The default heat life

05:20and heat VOD apps do not contain adult content. So I've been using these boxes for over 5 years

05:27and I've had the privilege on this channel to test all of the major brand players on the market.

05:32What I can tell you from experience is that the VC box brand hands down is the best.

05:38And this is simply because they feed off very fast servers which allow them to deliver very high

05:43quality streams in HD and 4K. And you get no buffering. Just ask anyone who has a VC box

05:50when last they saw a stream buffer. The heat live app provides 2112 live TV channels across various categories.

06:00Heat VOD provides 41,840 movies and 14,691 TV series.

06:12Heat VOD Ultra provides thousands of movies and TV series from major content providers.

06:19Heat backup provides up to one week of recording news, network and sports channels. So you can go back

06:30up to one week if you missed your programming.

06:32The first app is MCTV. This is not an alternative streaming app,

06:48but it's a custom version of the Kodi media player.

06:50Next we have elite HD. With elite HD you get thousands of HD quality movies and a TV series,

07:01all in HD 1080p resolution.

07:03Next we have on stream. On stream is another movie on demand service that delivers HD movies and TV

07:14series. Just another alternative for high quality content.

07:18Next we have matrix. Matrix is an alternative live TV app. But the way the app is formatted you can't get a

07:28count of the total number of channels it provides. This app has two adult sections. So be mindful if

07:34you need to block these channels. Next you have one of my personal favorites called the top shelf.

07:41Top shelf is an alternative live TV, video on demand, and TV series all in one app.

07:46Its channel lineup is so wide it covers hard to get channels such as those from the Caribbean

07:52and every other region in the world. It does contain two adult sections so be mindful of that

07:58in case you need to block them.

08:07Another streaming alternative is mini 24-7. These are just continuous loops of favorite movie categories.

08:24Next we have limitless. Limitless like top shelf is an all-in-one app providing live TV, video on demand,

08:31and TV series. You get 12,847 live TV channels, 39,284 movies on demand, and 7,303 TV series.

08:43The video on demand section contains adult content so be mindful if you need to block them.

08:50Next you get elite hub which is another source for videos on demand and TV series in HD quality.

08:58It has an adult section which is much different from the others so be mindful in case you need to block it.

09:06You have smart tube which is not a live TV or video on demand app but it's the smart YouTube TV version.

09:12Next we have platinum TV and VOD. This is another live TV, video on demand, and TV series all in one

09:23streaming app. Platinum provides 3955 live TV channels including adult content. Platinum VOD provides 50,961

09:36on demand movies including an adult section and 8721 TV series.

09:45Next we have elite VOD. Elite VOD does not contain a live TV section but it has a 24-7 section consisting of

09:552010 24-7 channels. It even has a 24-7 adult section so be mindful. You also get 32,210 movies on demand,

10:05and 8,353 TV series. Next we have evolution VOD. Evolution VOD has the same format as elite VOD

10:18but it has more 24-7 channels, video on demand, and TV series. If you want an adult free option,

10:25evolution VOD has no adult content. You will see an app called proton VPN. This is not a streaming app

10:36but a VPN service. And finally you have epic news. The name says it all. With this app you get all the

10:45major network and local news. So there you have it. For $369 you get the most options for streaming live

10:54TV and video on demand from the best brand in the business. Now onto the rest of the video.

11:02Let's now take a look at its firmware features. For display you get up to 4K 2160p at 60Hz.

11:09You get HDR display with an auto HDR feature. You get up to 10 bit color depth. For video decoding you

11:20only have HDR10. It does not support HDR10+, HLG, AV1, or Dolby vision. You get auto frame rate switching.

11:30HDMI CC options. Google assistant. You get surround audio passthrough. But no hardware surround sound audio decoders.

11:46Let's take a look at its system and hardware information. So this chipset is all winner and

11:52it runs on 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage with Bluetooth 5.0. Its CPU is the all winner H313-H616,

12:05a quad-core cortex A53 processor clocked at 1.5 GHz configured in 32-bit mode. Its display is powered by

12:15the Mali G31 GPU with open GLES version 3.2 support. It supports dual band 2.4 plus 5 GHz Wi-Fi. Its

12:25Android version is Android 12 and the firmware is not rooted. Its GPU has Vulkan support API version 1.1.

12:35They disabled the temperature sensor. Under decoders you get 4K HDR video decoders.

12:45No AV1 decoder or Dolby vision decoders. For audio you get Dolby Atmos EAC3 and DTS-HD.

12:54Moving on to its digital rights management and Netflix. Its DRM information shows that it has Google

13:01Widevine level 1 with HDCP 2.2 protection. This level of protection is sufficient to play movie

13:09streaming services in HD and 4K such as Netflix. In this elite model, the version of Netflix plays in

13:16HD 1080p resolution unlike other models that are limited to 480p. For watching YouTube videos,

13:25the Android TV version can only play up to 1440p resolution. I also tried the smart YouTube TV

13:33version but it wouldn't even play this video. I will now test its 4K HDR video playback capabilities

13:42using self-hosted videos. So this is an HDR10 video and it triggers the HDR10 feature.

13:55It does not have the AV1 decoder so with this AV1 video it shows that the AV1 video format is not supported.

14:07This is a Dolby vision video but it only triggers HDR10.

14:16Here is another Dolby vision video that's encoded with Dolby Atmos and it plays video with no audio.

14:25This is an HDR10 plus video and it also triggers HDR10 with no audio.

14:36And this is an official HLG video but it only triggers HDR10.

14:41So like I said the box only supports the HDR10 video decoding.

14:45So I tried connecting the box to my surround sound AV receiver, but unfortunately no matter the

14:56configuration or setting the box does not output any Dolby surround sound audio format.

15:06Let's now take a look at some benchmarks and where it ranks on my TV box rankings chart.

15:11First the results of its RAM and internal storage read and write speeds.

15:17It has a RAM copy speed of 2836 megabytes per second.

15:23Its internal storage has a read speed of 129 megabytes per second and a write speed of 61 megabytes per second.

15:31Next we have the results of its Wi-Fi and Ethernet LAN speed test.

15:38The Wi-Fi 6 network adapter used in this model is pretty impressive.

15:43On the 5 GHz band it achieved the maximum speed of my network.

15:47Its 2.4 GHz band averaged around 175 megabits per second.

15:53And its Ethernet LAN port is a gigabit Ethernet LAN port.

15:57And it too achieved the maximum speed of my network.

16:00Next is the benchmark performed on its all-winner CPU using the Geekbench 5 CPU benchmark.

16:07The benchmark produced a score of 111 single core and 388 multi-core.

16:13In benchmarking its GPU with Vulkan support.

16:17The 3DMark wild live test produced a score of 120 with an average FPS of 0.70.

16:26And in the Antutu benchmark version 8.4.5, a backdated version, because that's the only version with Vulkan

16:35support I can get to work on this all-winner chipset. It produced a score of 72,282.

16:44So from these benchmarks I can safely conclude that this is not a gaming Android box and it was designed

16:50primarily for streaming movies and TV shows. So let's now see where it ranks on my TV box rankings chart.

16:57So I've updated the scores on my chart. And the new VC box elite mini ranks at position 120 based

17:06on its Antutu benchmark score. This is no surprise given the chipset used in this model. So I gave it

17:12a 3 out of 5 star rating. Most of you watching this version of the video will not understand the

17:18price called for this model. Most newcomers will also think that it's absurd. For my seasoned viewers

17:45In summary, the elite mini when it comes to hardware to be quite honest is a cheap Android box that can't

17:53be used for anything other than streaming movies and TV shows. As for the ridiculously high price charged
