What a night! Immediaite reaction from Hampden Park as Scotland take a massive three points against Greece.
Transcript
00:00Just catching my breath there as I've just popped out of Hampden as Scotland have won 3-1 against Greece
00:07in an absolutely crucial World Cup qualifier that they really, really could have done with winning.
00:13Look, for 62, 63 minutes, Scotland's performance wasn't fantastic, but you don't want to hear about that
00:21and I don't want to talk about that too much.
00:23Ultimately, it's been a fantastic win with goals coming from first and foremost equaliser from Ryan Christie on 64 minutes
00:31which cancelled out Chimiscast's equaliser, obviously formerly of Liverpool, or still of Liverpool, just on loan at Roma.
00:38But when Lewis Ferguson blasted home with about 10 minutes left, the stadium absolutely erupted.
00:45There was a few crumbles for quite a while. The performance wasn't great, people were frustrated.
00:49It was, um, Ryan Christie's shot in the 64th minute, which equalised the game, was actually Scotland's first shot on target
00:56but it just gave everyone a lift in the stadium.
01:00Um, that second goal from Lewis Ferguson, look, I think it must have been about three yards out
01:05but he's fighting the top of the net and sort of a cathartic roar almost came out from Scotland.
01:10Games like that in the past, you know, Scotland haven't always won and tonight they have
01:15and I think at the end when, I mean, if you haven't seen it, I'm assuming that you have if you're watching this
01:20but the goal from Lyndon Dykes which sealed it in the, I think, the fourth minute of injury time
01:24when he blasts in the net after an absolute howler from the Greece goalkeeper.
01:29I just think sometimes it's your night and sometimes you just make your own luck
01:34and sometimes the sun shines on you and for Scotland it did tonight
01:37but look, that game's absolutely massive.
01:41Everyone desperately wanted a win from that.
01:43The two results that they had in Group C, the 0-0 draw against Denmark was a good result
01:47then the 2-0 win against Belarus was routine but important
01:50then you move on to Greece's home, this was the real crucial game
01:54which was all about, you know, getting ahead of them in the group
01:57which they have now done, Scotland now on seven points
02:00Greece just on the three.
02:03Denmark won their game against Belarus so they remain at the moment on seven points as well
02:08after a draw against Scotland, their win against Greece and their win against Belarus
02:14but ultimately that puts distance between Scotland and Greece
02:18who were seen as one of the main competitors for the group.
02:21There's a massive game to come again on Sunday against Belarus
02:23but Scotland will be huge favourites but look, you've got a couple of days to worry about that yet.
02:28Tonight's all about delirium and a really, really important result
02:33which for a long, long space of time didn't look likely.
02:37This is Graham Falk from the Scotsman.
02:40Enjoy your night.
02:41Scotland 3, Greece 1.
02:42All the reaction will be on thescotsman.com this evening
02:45and also in the morning.
02:48Thank you very much.
