00:00The government is willing to reopen talks with Kampung Sungai Baru residents opposing the redevelopment of the area,
00:07but the problem lies with outsiders stirring up trouble, says Federal Territories Minister Dr. Zaleha Mustafa.
00:14Zaleha said Puccal Jaya remained open to renegotiating with residents who were against the project,
00:20as long as the request came directly from them.
00:23She added that the Harmony package offered by developers could still be adjusted through discussions.
00:30Zaleha also dismissed concerns of gentrification,
00:34assuring that the redevelopment would allow original residents to return once new units were completed.
00:40To maintain community roots, she said the next of kin of the original owners would be given priority for additional units,
00:47while new affordable projects catering to the Malay community would also be considered.
00:52She added that the government planned to work with professionals to preserve the area's Malay heritage and identity,
00:58including a proposal to establish a cultural village.
