00:00Four games today in Major League Baseball. It's the Early Line Sports Grid Network setting the
00:04table for you for an exciting Major League Baseball day in action. Donnie writes out along
00:08with Joe Ranieri. Games start at 3-0-8, 5-0-8, 7-0-8, and 9-0-8 today. Let's get the game number
00:14one, which is 9-0-7, 9-0-8 on the rotation. Seattle and Detroit. Miller versus Mize. Favorite
00:20here? Roughly a pick-em. You see the graphic about to come up there to minus 116 price and a total
00:25that's listed at 8-1-1. Joe, if I look at the pitchers here, since August the 1st, ERA,
00:30Bryce Miller, 5.62. ERA for Mize, 4.61. That total is 8-1-1. Obviously, yesterday, they got 12 runs
00:39well over the total. I got to tell you, in a pitcher's ballpark here, I'm still feeling both
00:44of these bats can get greedy tonight and come away with an over. Can we get nine runs or are you more
00:50certain on a side between the Mariners and the Tigers? Well, you know, the problem is, Donnie,
00:55if I'm Detroit, do I want some sort of wild slugfest here? Am I winning that kind of game?
01:02I mean, the fact is, they were, the reason they won game one is because, well, they kept it low
01:09scoring, which is exactly what they've been doing. They're only averaging three runs per game in this
01:15series here. They do have Casey Mize, who's actually been, you know, pretty good. I don't think he's
01:20allowed more than three runs in any of his starts since the beginning of September as well. Bryce
01:26Miller, you mentioned it. He's the issue, right? So, could this be the game where we look at Detroit's
01:32team total and go up and over? Because that bullpen for Seattle might be getting some work in this game
01:39here. If not, if you think Seattle wins it, then maybe their team total is the way to look in this
01:45one. Yeah, Miller's usually the guy that you want to fade there in that lineup for Seattle. So,
01:49I do think there's going to be opportunities for Detroit to hit today, but also you're talking
01:52about an elimination game for Detroit where all hands will be on deck. So, if you're just saying,
01:56all right, I'm going to go against Casey Mize, he might be pitching a very good game, Joe. Three
02:00and a third innings pitch, no earned runs, and he's out of that ball game when you go into the bullpen.
02:04So, these sometimes are tougher games to predict here to see who's going to win, but a good game on deck,
02:08308. We'll see if Seattle can move on with a victory. Next game up, 909-910 on the rotation.
02:15A 5-0-8 start tonight, Joe. Milwaukee and Chicago. So, maybe we get some of those
02:20shadows creeping into the ballpark, but we're at Wrigley. This line opened up at seven as a total.
02:25It's down to six and a half. You don't have to be a weatherman to know that wind is not blowing
02:29out today in Wrigley. And also, a game, roughly a pick-em, that minus 120s, minus 150s in the
02:34landscape has a favorite towards the Chicago Cubs. The interesting part about Jamison Tyone,
02:39since the start of August, Joe. A 1.57 ERA, but a 4.24 XFIP number. So, getting a little bit lucky
02:46here, going up against Quinn Priester. I look at this game, and I'm always under the agreement,
02:50like, the wind's blowing in. You don't love overs, but come on now. Again, this isn't Chris Sale,
02:55Roger Clemens in Wrigley with the wind blowing in. Six and a half, give me the over again in this game.
03:00Yeah, it's going to be interesting, right? And you know what? Give Jamison Tyone credit,
03:04because he was a big part of the Cubs getting past the Padres, right, in that game three. And he's
03:12going to have to limit what is a, well, it's a pretty interesting lineup here for the Brewers,
03:18right? And we talked about it in games one and game two. The MO for the Brewers lineup is they
03:23are going to get to you early. And when they play from in front, Donnie, it becomes extremely difficult
03:29because they're not going to beat themselves the rest of the way through. You're not going to get
03:34wall. You're not going to get errors. You're not going to misthrow. You're not going to get any
03:37of that. So if the Cubs have a shot, it needs to be early in this game against Priester. So I would
03:44much rather look at the Cubs in the first five than any sort of full game situation here, because I
03:50don't know that the bullpen is good, but they are going to have to play from in front here against
03:56Priester. Toronto and New York. We'll spend a lot of time talking about this one. 708 start here from
04:01the Bronx. Varlin's going to get the start and say, Varlin, how's he getting the start? Didn't
04:04he pitch last night? Yeah, this is a full bullpen game for the Toronto Blue Jays with a chance to
04:09close out the Yankees. It doesn't make sense. It's just the way baseball is sometimes going up
04:12against Cam Schlittler, who's been very good in the playoffs, which included one of the more
04:16dominant performances that you were going to see in his previous start. Minus 180 to minus 185
04:23as a favorite towards the New York Yankees in a total of eight and a half. I do think the Yankee
04:27bats will come to play against the bullpen. And I do think Schlittler is going to have a pretty
04:30good start. So therefore, I think the Yankees win and force a pivotal game number five that
04:35will take place in Toronto. Team total, Donnie. I just think Yankees team total up and over
04:41is the way to go here because I don't believe Toronto. I think what you saw is Toronto might
04:47have peaked a little too soon in those first couple of games there in the first couple
04:52innings. And then that was the end of that. The longer this series goes, the more data these
04:58Yankee hitters and these pitchers will have on this Blue Jays roster. So yeah, I think maybe the
05:05Yankees team total might be worth a look to go up and over in this one against a very suspect bullpen
05:12of the Toronto Blue Jays. Yeah. If you told me yesterday too, like, hey, by the way, Blue Jays
05:16is going to get six runs. Like, okay, Yankees are going home. Credit the bats for coming up big. And I
05:19think that momentum can carry over into today. Talking about momentum, none for my Philadelphia
05:24Phillies, even though they had some momentum in the ninth inning and they just couldn't push that
05:28tying run across the plate. Nola versus Yamamoto. And keep in mind here for Aaron Nola, right behind
05:33him. He's almost, I don't want to say he's an opener. He'll go until he's not pitching well and
05:37then Ranger Suarez behind. But Yamamoto will get the start here for the Dodgers. They're a heavy
05:40favorite. It's not a surprise, Joe. Minus 160s at the opening line. We're up as high as minus 184 at
05:47certain outlets here and a total listed at eight. I love my Philadelphia Phillies. I just like,
05:52they're taking a plane right out there. They might as well stop at Disneyland and come home
05:55because I don't think they're winning tonight. I want them to, but I'm just being honest.
05:59Well, I mean, and the question is which Nola shows up, Donnie. He's allowed four runs,
06:04at least four runs in seven of his last 10 starts. And now he's got to face this Dodgers lineup
06:10that leads the league in scoring at home here. But listen, Yamamoto has been absolutely fantastic
06:18for him. He's only given up three earned runs across his past six starts. It feels like an
06:23under. I mean, it opened up at eight. What are we down to seven and a half here, Donnie? Because
06:27it feels like it is going to be all hands on deck for Philadelphia. The slightest trouble Nola gets in,
06:33you know, they're, they're going to everybody and anybody. They're going to empty the kitchen sink
06:37here, Donnie, in this game, Philadelphia. So I don't mind an under. I think that's the best chance
06:42for the Phillies to win one here. By the way, they had a poll on Philadelphia radio yesterday,
06:46which I get a kick out of like Shorber has been an amazing player, you know, MVP candidate throughout
06:50the regular season. Like if you would have asked this poll, I'm going to tell you, Joe, three weeks
06:54ago, it would have been different. Like, do you want to re-sign Kyle Schwarber, which three weeks
06:58ago would have been 99.9%. The only guy voting against it would be Middleton, not spending that money.
07:02They did the same poll yesterday, Joe, 53% of the fans said they want Kyle Schwarber back because he's
07:08striking out and not getting on base. That could change with a big win tonight for the
07:12Philadelphia Phillies, but also that could get much worse if the middle of that lineup goes
07:16one for 11 in this game with eight strikeouts. Like it feels like they do. Um day, baby. We set
07:22the table for the sports grid highlights you need, and it's Donnie Wright's side and it's
07:26Joe Ranieri. It's just how we get down. But this part of the program, Joe Ranieri, we like to reach
07:30out to the public. We want to know what they think on a certain question that we ask here on our
07:35Fade the Public Poll. Disrespectful you public are, but by the way, I'm going to tell you which
07:47way the public has gone. At Sports Grid, our account on X is the easiest way to find the Fade
07:52the Public Poll. We asked a simple question today that you just had an answer. There were four options
07:56to this question. Which team do you think will be eliminated today in Major League Baseball's
08:01Divisional Series? The four options, Tigers, Cubs, Yankees, and Phillies. And no surprise,
08:0731% of the current vote coming in on the Philadelphia Phillies to get eliminated. I am a
08:13Phillies fan. I voted for the Philadelphia Phillies to get eliminated today over the Yankees,
08:18the Cubs, and the Tigers. Joe, did I get this right? And which way did you go?
08:24Yeah, it's, listen, I have a, you know, I have a ticket on the Dodgers to win this series,
08:29so I won't be crying tears, Donnie. I'm sorry about it. But I do think they have a shot at
08:34getting at least one game here. The team that I think you can just wrap up and finish is Detroit.
08:41I think it ends for Detroit today, even if the bats get going. Outside of the Cubs, Donnie, I mean,
08:48Detroit has had to rely on that mediocre bullpen the most here of anybody. The Cubs have logged over
08:5530 and a half bullpen innings in the postseason, and the Tigers are right behind them there.
09:01Outside of school, if you don't get Casey Mize to go six innings, if they got to keep going,
09:07it's, to me, it's over here for Detroit. It was probably, should have been over
09:11against the Guardians, but, you know, here they are right now.
09:15Yeah, so Tigers, Cubs, Yankees, Phillies, no matter what happens, you can't get four games again today.
09:20This will be the last day of that. As a sports fan, you want to see those high leverage
09:24situations get to game five. As a ticket holder or a fan of your team, you want to close it on and
09:28move on to the next round, which will be the ALCS and the NLCS, and we'll see if those four teams
09:33could be decided today. We'll find that a little bit later, but this is part of the program where
09:37we got to get some winners. Yesterday, I went to bed with a plus 120 ticket in my pocket on the
09:42Toronto Blue Jays. I woke up to a losing ticket. Here's bye-bye-bye.
09:46Bounce back. Hump day Wednesday. Joe Raniere, where do we go?
09:58Well, I am going to go to that game that I think one team is getting eliminated here today,
10:04and that is Detroit and Seattle. And I did, in fact, check the weather report here today,
10:10Donnie. That three-hour rain delay yesterday kind of threw a wrench into things. But today at three
10:16o'clock Eastern time, when this game is set to go off, the wind will be blowing out to right field
10:2213 miles per hour, 50-55 degrees at the start. But as this game goes on, the winds are expected to be
10:30closer to 15 to 20 miles an hour blowing out to right field here. Bryce Miller has been a gas can now
10:38for a while for the Mariners. Casey Mize has got to get it done, except, well, the way they're
10:46swinging a bat in Seattle, get the ball up in the air and bye-bye-bye. Yeah, I think the over here,
10:52Donnie, eight and a half. I think the bats are coming alive here. I think Detroit's got a good
10:58opportunity against Miller and company to get some runs on the board. But I think Seattle ultimately
11:04just too much. And I think they'll hit more. Either way, I can see us getting over eight and
11:10a half runs in this one. Yeah, it's nice to see the eight and a halves pop up because you have that
11:14in Toronto and New York as well. Enough with these six and a halves that you're seeing in Milwaukee and
11:18Chicago. By the way, I do think that game goes over. And then you have the seven and a half out
11:21west there for Enola versus Yamamoto. But I'm going to go to the Bronx, the scene of the crime last night,
11:26which cost me some money, which is okay. But let's bounce back today. I'm actually going to go with
11:30the New York Yankees. Cam Schlittler used to pitching at home in big-time situations. Has
11:35done a lot? No. But has he been sensational when they did him? Yes, he absolutely is. Am I expecting
11:39an unbelievably dominant performance to go nine innings in this game or eight innings? No, I'm
11:43not. But you should be able to go toe-to-toe with Louis Varland and the bullpen over the first five
11:47innings. The Yankees should be able to hit that bullpen. Schlittler holds down those bats early for
11:52the Toronto Blue Jays. Take the bullpen of the Yankees out of the equation. Give me a good starting
11:56pitcher versus a bullpen with a home team riding momentum, Joe. Run line, first five innings,
12:02Yankees, minus a half of a run, minus 122 as a price point here. Donnie, why don't you just take
12:08the Yankees? You said they're going to win today. It's a minus 192, minus 190 price here. I'll go
12:12with the younger price. Put it this way. My handicap would be missed if the Yankees are down two to one
12:17at the end of five innings. So I would be fine with that loss. I don't think they will. Yankees will
12:21have the lead after five, Joe. That's where I'm going. Yeah, I like where you're looking there.
12:26And even though the Yankees went to the bullpen early in that game, Duval, Tim Hill,
12:33all those guys they used, very few pitches. They'll all be available again tonight.
