00:00The Boston Bruins kick off their NHL season tonight.

00:03The NHL season got underway last night on opening night with a few games,

00:07but the Bruins actually get underway tonight against the Capitals.

00:10I'm not expecting.

00:12My expectations, I would say, are low for the Boston Bruins overall this season.

00:16I want them to be at least a little competitive and a little scrappy.

00:18I don't want them getting—I don't want them to be, like, the worst team in hockey.

00:22But at the same time, I have zero belief that this team will be anything special,

00:27will be anywhere near the top of the league.

00:30Like, it just—I don't think they have the talent for it.

00:33Again, like, I could get surprised.

00:35Jeremy Swayman could be awesome.

00:37David Pasternak could go nuclear.

00:39Those are things that could happen.

00:40I feel they're unlikely, but they could happen.

00:43I just—I just want a competitive hockey season as they continue to build.

00:47I want to see what Marco Sturm offers to this team.

00:50And I want to see some of the younger guys get plenty of time and start to grow

00:54and make sure that you're a capable, really strong, competitive team next year.

00:59Will they be a playoff team, like, even if it's an 8-seed or 7-seed?

01:02Borderline.

01:03Okay.

01:03All right.

01:04I mean, it's a little difficult to get excited when the president of the organization

01:09tells you that they're going to have to win games based on defense

01:14because they tried to improve the offense,

01:17but they couldn't find anybody to improve the offense with.

01:20Hmm.

01:21So, I mean, it doesn't really—it doesn't get you really excited.

01:26No, that don't get you going.

01:27No, and it's tough because, like, I want to just root for the Bruins and be excited.

01:31And, you know, it's crazy that you yearn for the—what is it?

01:35In 2022 and 2023 when this team was freaking awesome in the regular season

01:40and then just crapped themselves in the playoffs.

01:42Yeah.

01:42It's tough.

01:43So it's the Bruins and the Celtics will kind of basically be the same thing.

01:47Hopefully they're scrappy and you maybe sneak into the playoffs.

01:50Well, like, at least the Celtics have—

01:52Have what?

01:53Some talent.

01:54Like, Jalen Brown's a really good player.

01:56Yeah.

01:57Peyton Pritchard was the sixth man of the year last year.

01:59But they're not—

02:00White's pretty good.

02:01But your expectations are very similar with the Celtics.

02:04Like, I—

02:04No, but you expect the Celtics to be in the playoffs.

02:07Oh, you don't even expect the Bruins to make the playoffs.

02:09Like I said, borderline.

02:10Like, I—they need—I think at the end of the season they're going to be trying to get in.

02:15All right.

02:15Whereas the Celtics should be, like, a five or four seed.

02:18Yeah, I mean, if your intention is going to be to win games two to one,

02:23then, I mean, you better have the defense that can do that.

02:27You better have Charlie McAvoy healthy for the entire season.

02:32You better have guys that can step it up if that's going to be your intention.

02:37And it seems like that's what their—that's what their plan is.

02:40Well, you paid Swayman $8 million.

02:41It's time for him to stand on his head.

02:43And hopefully that Zdorov contract comes through.

02:46Yeah.

02:46I mean, Swayman is 10 and a half.

02:48Was he not?

02:48No, like 8.2 or something.

02:50Yeah, 8.25.

02:51Oh, okay.

02:52Because what—he was trying to set the market at 10 and a half.

02:55They were like, no, we'll give you 8, brother.
