All stranded Everest hikers evacuated from remote Tibetan valley

Rescuers guided all of the remaining 200 trekkers near the east side of Mount Everest in China's Tibet region to safety on Oct 7, including hundreds of local guides and yak herders. 00:13This put an end to one of the largest search and rescue operations in the region.

00:18Last Sunday, rescuers guided about 350 hikers back to the Chudang township,

00:24while the rest of 200 were also taken out of the valley on Tuesday.

00:29The hikers were stranded in deep snow over the weekend in the valley,

00:36at an average altitude of 4,200 meters,

00:40after an unusually massive blizzard battered the Himalayas.

00:44The snowfall disrupted the plans of the hikers who took advantage

00:47of the eight-day-long National Day and mid-autumn festival holiday in China.

00:53They are all newcomers and basically they don't have the exact experience of what it's like to be,

01:00what's the weather condition is harsh, and how you're going to prepare, you know, those kind of, they don't have that kind of experience.

01:07So, probably, this would be the first reason that a lot of people have been stranded in that summer.
