Nepal's mountaineering community marks 72 years since conquest of Everest summit

Nepal contains eight of the highest peaks in the world and every year hundreds of foreign climbers fly to the country in South Asia to tackle the mountains.

00:01Nepal celebrated the 72nd anniversary of the conquest of Mount Everest on Thursday the 29th of May, known as International Everest Day.
00:13A rally was held in Nepal's capital Kathmandu, attended by climbers, guides and many others.
00:21On this day in 1953, New Zealander Edmund Hillary and Sherpa guide Tenzing Norge reached the top of the world's highest mountain.
00:32Since then, Mount Everest has been climbed thousands of times, including multiple ascents by individuals, particularly Sherpas.
