00:00Well, in fact, only God can create anything eternal, so that's definitely not going to happen.
00:05But it could bring a temporary peace, or at least something that will lead to a settlement.
00:10And I'm going to look tonight at some of the things which have happened
00:13in the light of a very famous prophecy in the book of Daniel, chapter 9, and verse 27.
00:20Just to say a little bit about what he proposed before we get into the Scriptures,
00:24his plan specifies an immediate ceasefire, exchange of all hostages held by Hamas,
00:30the Palestinian prisoners held by Israel, a stage Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza,
00:36disarmament of Hamas, and the introduction of a transitional government led by an international body.
00:43Hamas has agreed to it, apparently. Israel has agreed to it.
00:47It hasn't agreed to everything, but they have agreed to exchange hostages.
00:50Some of the things which he says are going to happen as a result of this.
00:57Gaza will become a terror-free zone, with all militant groups dismantled,
01:01so that it does not pose a threat to its neighbours.
01:05Once all the hostages are returned, Israel will release 250 prisoners,
01:09serving life sentences, and 1,700 Palestinians detained after October the 7th.
01:16Large-scale aid will enter Gaza immediately after agreement.
01:19A transitional technocratic committee made up of Palestinians and international experts will run Gaza.
01:27Oversight will be provided by a new International Board of Peace,
01:30chaired by Donald Trump and other leaders, such as former Prime Minister Tony Blair, suggested as members.
01:39Hamas and other factions will not take part in Gaza's governance.
01:43All military terror and offensive infrastructure, including tunnels, will be destroyed and not rebuilt.
01:49Independent monitors will supervise the demilitarisation of Gaza.
01:53An international stabilisation force would deploy to Gaza to train vetted Palestinian police,
01:58would help to secure borders with Israel and Egypt, in coordination with Jordan and Egypt.
02:04Israel will not annex Gaza.
02:05As the International Stabilisation Force establishes control, the Israeli Defence Forces withdraw,
02:14based on standards, milestones and timeframes linked to demilitarisation that will be agreed upon
02:18between the IDF, the International Force and the United States,
02:24with the objective of a secure Gaza that no longer poses a threat to Israel, Egypt or its citizens.
02:29This is one which I found most interesting.
02:33An interfaith dialogue process will be established based on the values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence
02:38to try and change the mindsets and narratives of Palestinians and Israelis
02:42by emphasising the benefits that can be derived from peace.
02:46So you have a sort of peace coming together of all the religions,
02:51trying to make peace and sort out all the radicals on both sides.
02:55Then when Gaza redevelopment advances,
03:03when the Palestinian Authority Reform Programme is faithfully carried out,
03:06the conditions may finally be in place for a credible pathway
03:09to Palestinian self-determination and statehood,
03:12which will recognise as the aspiration of the Palestinian people.
03:18The United States will establish a dialogue between Israel and the Palestinians
03:22to agree on a political horizon for a peaceful and prosperous coexistence.
03:28So Israel has agreed to it, Hamas has agreed to it, some of it,
03:32and they've agreed to the release of some of the hostages.
03:36Note that the goal is a Palestinian state,
03:38but reform of the Palestinian Authority has to take part first.
03:43Note also there's a religious element,
03:44part of what we might call an interfaith dialogue,
03:48which will be backed with an attempt to bring about
03:52some kind of reconciliation between the two sides.
03:56It also implies some kind of world government process
03:59and a world religious process.
04:03So, has it got anything to do with the Bible?
04:05Well, we're going to turn to Daniel chapter 9.
04:09I'm going to read a few verses from Daniel 9.
04:20This passage from Daniel 9 is part of the...
04:23It's an answer to Daniel's prayer.
04:25Daniel prays in the beginning of Daniel chapter 9,
04:28recognising that the time for the return of the Jews from Babylon
04:32is about to take place.
04:33He sees that the fulfilment of Jeremiah's prophecy,
04:36the end of the 70 years, has come to pass,
04:38and it's now time for God to send the Jews back to Jerusalem and to Israel.
04:43He confesses the sins of the people
04:45that have caused them to be in captivity in the first place,
04:48and he prays to God to restore Jerusalem
04:50and to restore the people to the land.
04:54And in response to that,
04:55God sends the angel Gabriel with a message.
04:58And we'll take it up in verse 23.
05:01Chapter 9.
05:04At the beginning of your supplications,
05:05the command went out,
05:06and I've come to tell you,
05:08for you are greatly beloved,
05:09therefore consider the matter and understand the vision.
05:12Seventy weeks are determined for your people
05:14and for your holy city to finish the transgression,
05:17to make an end of sins,
05:18to make reconciliation for iniquity,
05:20to bring in everlasting righteousness,
05:22to seal up vision and prophecy,
05:24and to anoint the most holy.
05:25Now understand that from the going forth of the command
05:29to restore and build Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince,
05:32there shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks,
05:35the street shall be built again,
05:36and the wall even in troublesome times.
05:39And after the sixty-two weeks,
05:40Messiah shall be cut off,
05:41but not for himself,
05:42and the people of the Prince to come
05:44shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.
05:46The end of it shall be with a flood,
05:48until the end of the war,
05:49desolations are determined.
05:50Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week,
05:55but in the middle of the week
05:56he shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering,
05:59and on the wing of abomination
06:00shall be one who makes desolate,
06:02even until the consummation which is determined
06:04is poured out on the desolate.
06:08Okay, so what's all that about?
06:10It's a prophecy which speaks about
06:11the return of the Jews from Babylon to Jerusalem,
06:14speaks about a period of time
06:16which will lead up to the revelation of Messiah the Prince.
06:18Messiah the Prince is actually Jesus,
06:22and it tells us this one,
06:23Messiah the Prince is going to be cut off,
06:25but not for himself,
06:28and after that the people of the Prince to come
06:29are going to restore the city
06:30and are going to destroy the city and the sanctuary.
06:34The Messiah who's cut off is Jesus the Messiah.
06:37So he's going to be cut off,
06:39die a violent death,
06:40and then the people of the Prince to come
06:42are going to destroy the city,
06:43which is Jerusalem and the sanctuary.
06:46If you know your history,
06:47you know that 40 years after Jesus came and died
06:50and rose again from the dead,
06:52there was a rebellion of the Jews against the Romans,
06:54and the Romans then came and destroyed the city and the sanctuary,
06:57destroyed Jerusalem and destroyed the temple.
07:01If you take the Bible literally as I do,
07:03that means that the Messiah had to come
07:05before the destruction of the second temple,
07:06he had to come before the year 70,
07:09probably had to come 40 years before it.
07:12Can you think of anybody who came as the Messiah,
07:13who was cut off,
07:15died a violent death,
07:16and then after that,
07:1840 years later,
07:19the Romans came and destroyed the city of the sanctuary.
07:22Obviously it's Jesus.
07:24So this passage speaks about Jesus,
07:27it speaks about the coming of the Lord,
07:29it speaks about the event which took place
07:3240 years after he came,
07:34and it says the Messiah has to come after that,
07:36before that.
07:37It also says it's going to bring about
07:39the desolations of Jerusalem,
07:41going to bring about war and a flood.
07:43So it's going to bring about
07:44some kind of desolation of Jerusalem
07:46and a war,
07:48which will be caused by an invasion,
07:51which will then lead to the dispersion
07:53of the Jewish people around the world.
07:55You then have a gap,
07:57and I'm going to explain that a bit later on.
07:59You have a gap which leads up to the verse
08:00which we're looking at tonight,
08:01which is verse 27.
08:04Verse 27 says there's going to be a covenant
08:06which is going to be confirmed with many
08:07for one week.
08:10One week is seven years,
08:11so there's going to be some kind of a covenant
08:13which will come at the end of days
08:14which is going to be confirmed,
08:16and I believe it says
08:17the person who confirms
08:18is going to be the last person mentioned
08:19in the previous verse,
08:21which is the prince to come.
08:24So who's the prince to come?
08:26If you follow through in the book of Daniel,
08:27you have a number of references
08:28to what is going to come
08:31at the end of days.
08:32You have one who's going to come
08:32at the end of days
08:33in the book of Revelation
08:34who lines up with the beast
08:35or the Antichrist.
08:37So many people believe
08:38that the one who's going to make this covenant
08:39is actually the coming Antichrist.
08:42You're going to make a covenant
08:42with Israel for seven years,
08:46but it says you're going to confirm a covenant.
08:47I'll say a bit more about that later on.
08:51It's going to break down halfway through,
08:52and you're going to lead to the consummation
08:54which will bring desolation
08:55and the abomination of desolation.
08:56That briefly speaks about this verse.
09:00Now, the interesting thing is,
09:02is it saying that this is a future event
09:05which is going to take place
09:06because it's separated from the others?
09:08I'll tell you why in a minute.
09:10Is it saying also that there's going to be
09:11some kind of a covenant
09:12which will be put in place
09:14which will promise peace,
09:17which will actually break down halfway through?
09:19Okay, let's have a look at what's happening.
09:24I'm actually going to read from an article
09:27which I got off the Prophecy Newswatch.
09:30It says, in Daniel 9.24,
09:31the prophet records a timeline of 70 weeks,
09:34symbolic measure of God's prophetic calendar for Israel.
09:3769 of these weeks unfolded
09:39from the decree to rebuild Jerusalem
09:40until the coming of the Messiah, the Prince.
09:44Yet one week, seven years, remains.
09:46The final week, often called Daniel's 70th week,
09:48is understood in Christian prophecy
09:50as the period of tribulation
09:52culminating in the return of Jesus Christ.
09:55The final feature of the last seven years
09:57is a covenant.
09:59He shall confirm a covenant with many for one week.
10:02Much hinges on that word confirm.
10:05The Hebrew suggests not initiating a brand new treaty
10:07but strengthening or enforcing one already in effect.
10:12This means the Antichrist,
10:13the global leader of the end times,
10:15will take the existing framework
10:16and make it binding,
10:17giving its teeth authority
10:19and international guarantees.
10:22A covenant must be tied to Israel,
10:24the many implying neighbouring nations.
10:27It could involve Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia,
10:30Qatar, Arab states,
10:31perhaps even the broader international community,
10:34involving the EU, UN, and the United States,
10:39backed by an international stabilisation force.
10:42An international force is going to guarantee it.
10:44The figure who confirms it,
10:46the Antichrist, will rise to power
10:48through the allegiance of ten kings
10:49according to both Daniel 7 and Revelation 17.
10:53These ten leaders give him their authority,
10:55setting him up as a central arbiter of peace and power.
10:59So are ten kings, ten rulers of nations,
11:01or ten people of influence and power
11:03who sit on this committee
11:04and give their power to the beast
11:06who in turn takes control of other global issues?
11:09Who are these ten kings?
11:12Prophet scholars have long debated this question.
11:15Daniel describes them as horns of the beast
11:16representing elements of the fourth kingdom,
11:19the Roman Empire.
11:21John's vision in Revelation likewise ties them
11:23to a revived imperial structure in the last days.
11:26The implication is clear.
11:27These are rulers or entities with influence
11:29over territory once belonging to the Roman Empire
11:31or influenced by the former government
11:33of the Roman Empire.
11:35The Roman Empire was vast,
11:36including European nations
11:38plus the present Middle East Islamic nations.
11:41The United States came out of Europe
11:42so it could be included.
11:45Therefore it could include Middle Eastern nations
11:47plus Europe plus the United States
11:48as an extension of the European culture and government.
11:53Striking that such an entity
11:54would involve figures tied to both Europe
11:56and the Middle East,
11:58echoing the Roman world's old frontiers.
12:02If such a board were capped at ten figures
12:04of global influence,
12:04it would easily eerily parallel
12:06the prophetic outline.
12:08And should one leader rise to dominate this group,
12:11given oversight and power to make decisions,
12:13we'd be seeing the embryonic shape
12:15of Daniel's vision.
12:17Another element of the plan
12:18is the proposed international stabilisation force
12:21and multinational security body
12:23to patrol borders,
12:24prevent weapon smuggling,
12:26deter militant resurgence
12:27and oversee reconstruction.
12:30Israel has long dreamed of dwelling in safety,
12:31as Ezekiel 38 describes,
12:34a condition that seems unthinkable today.
12:36Yet what if such a force
12:37backed by the world's greatest powers
12:39finally convinced Israel that it was secure?
12:42Could this not set the stage
12:44for the false peace of Daniel's covenant?
12:47Ezekiel's prophecy also warns
12:49that Israel's sense of safety
12:50will be shattered by invasion.
12:54The international stabilisation force
12:56may indeed be the mechanism
12:57through which Israel is lulled
12:58into that deceptive calm.
13:01Another interesting inclusion
13:02is the religious one.
13:03An interfaith dialogue process
13:04will be established
13:05based on the values of tolerance
13:06and peaceful coexistence
13:08to try and change mindsets
13:09and narratives of Palestinians
13:11and Israelis
13:11by emphasising the benefits
13:13that can be derived from peace.
13:16Recognising the views
13:17of radical Islamists
13:19wanting the destruction of Israel
13:21and radical Zionists
13:22wanting a greater Israel,
13:24control of Judea and Samaria,
13:25will this body promote
13:26interfaith unity
13:27of one world religion
13:28even Chrislam?
13:31Even a reconstructed temple
13:33which would act as an interfaith
13:34building for Jews, Christians and Muslims
13:37and emerging world religions?
13:40Will the Pope play a part?
13:41Or a moderate Muslim leader?
13:44Or a Jewish interfaith leader?
13:47Okay, that's summary.
13:49It's a possibility.
13:50But what he's saying is
13:51that this is the beginning
13:52of a process
13:53which could lead to
13:53some kind of a peace treaty
13:56which would be binding
13:57upon Israel
13:58upon the Arab states
14:00which would lead
14:01to some kind of peace
14:02a temporary peace
14:02which would break down
14:03halfway through.
