00:11Adam West has died.

00:14With an acting career spanning over 50 years, Adam West was one of Hollywood's great survivors.

00:21Adam was a leading man in tights.

00:24He played an iconic superhero beloved by tens of millions worldwide.

00:29Adam West was the original and the best Batman.

00:38Adam was absolutely a larger-than-life character who really lived up to his image off-screen.

00:53he battled with alcohol and depression after the cancellation of Batman in the late 1960s.

01:32Although Adam West was in his late 80s when he died, by all accounts he was a fit and healthy man,

01:40at a good weight for his height, and was enjoying his rejuvenated career and life with a loving family.

01:47But according to reports, he was diagnosed with leukemia, which is a cancer of the blood.

01:52People with leukemia can live for five years or even more, but Adam died just days after his diagnosis.
