00:30Hello, everybody. With the smile of a Cheshire cat and the madness of a hatter, we go down the rabbit hole once again into another episode of Countdown. So welcome to our Wonderland and welcome back. Rachel Riley, how are you today? So are you Alice? Yes, well, our challenger today is obsessed, to say the least, with Alice in Wonderland. We'll catch up with Linda in a bit. But our birthday parties are all fancy dress. I was going to ask you, you know, the best fancy dress party you've been to.
00:59But you're really famous. Have you any evidence? Yeah, I think so. Have you ever on social media had a picture of anyone that kind of went to a fancy dress party as you?
01:12I've seen a few little kiddies on World Maths Day that have dressed as me. In very appropriate wear for school, I have to say. So not some of my eight out of ten cats outfits. But my friend's daughter actually went as me and I lent her some of my tiles.
01:25So she went with the actual numerical tiles that we use on here. Well, I have to tell you, the best fancy dress party I've ever been to was a New Year's Eve when I was young and fancy free.
01:37And the theme was cartoon characters. So my mate went as Barney Rubble and I went as Fred Flintstone.
01:43And as I say, I was young, free and single. And how can I word this? I ended up cuddling with someone dressed as Smurfette.
01:51I don't know what to do with that. Yeah, moving on. Let's see. Yeah. Good for you.
01:56Well, there you go. It's a story to tell the grandchildren about. Let's get the Dixonry Corner.
02:02And it's all about brainy. Definitely no lazy or grouchy. Our G of the D, Susie Dent.
02:09Alongside the singer and presenter, Claire Richards, back with us.
02:15We're the same area. You must remember the Smurfs.
02:17I do remember the Smurfs. I've never dressed up as one, though.
02:20No, there's no connection between my story and any fancy dress parties we may or may not have been to.
02:26Well, this has all gone over the head of her 19-year-old champion, Vera.
02:30She's thinking, what are these programmes they're talking about? How are you today, mate?
02:34I'm fine. I do know about the Smurfs, so...
02:36They must have remade it. They must have rebooted it.
02:38They made the live-action animated-ish movies, I guess.
02:42You're halfway to becoming an Octo Champ. You're averaging over 100.
02:47How are you feeling? More nervous or less nervous now?
02:51I mean, every day is a new day, so it's just taking it one game at a time.
02:56Absolutely. And you had quite the challenger yesterday, and I think that will be the case today.
03:00Linda Fenton from Leeds. Hi, Linda.
03:02Hi.
03:03So, listen, Alice in Wonderland.
03:05Yes. I don't know what it is. It's just...
03:07I suppose it's because it's so fantastical.
03:10Yeah.
03:11But we're talking about dressing up.
03:13We went to one party, an Alice in Wonderland party that was being hosted at a hotel in York,
03:18and we all turned up in fancy dress, me and my group of certainly a little older than the norm.
03:27And they greeted us. The people that were running it greeted us with,
03:31oh, no, no, you're not supposed to dress up.
03:34Oh, no.
03:34It's just for the children. So we said, oh.
03:36You're number two old.
03:39Well, no, well, we persuaded them that they should allow us in,
03:42so then we were the only adults dressed up, so it was great fun.
03:46Let's see, we're going to have a laugh today.
03:47So excited to have you here.
03:49Linda and Veeraj, good luck.
03:51APPLAUSE
03:51All right, let's make it a page-turner.
03:54What if you go?
03:55Hi, Rachel.
03:56I'll start off with a consonant today.
03:58Thank you. Start today with K.
03:59At home and in the studio. Let's play Countdown.
04:29That's time.
04:59Veeraj, how'd you get on?
05:00A seven.
05:01A seven from you? Very strong.
05:02Linda?
05:02I got a six.
05:04A six. What's the six, Linda?
05:05Winger.
05:06Winger. And what's the seven?
05:08Working.
05:08And working.
05:09Yeah.
05:10Business. You mean business.
05:11Seven points for you.
05:13The ING there does help.
05:15Clare, how'd you get on?
05:16A seven as well.
05:17I like this one because I feel like it fits with the Alice in Wonderland theme.
05:21Wonkier.
05:22LAUGHTER
05:22Very good. Wonkier there for seven, too.
05:26All right. Good start.
05:27Long way to go, Linda, and it's your letters.
05:29So, vowel, please.
05:30Thank you, Linda.
05:32A.
05:33And consonant.
05:35D.
05:35And a vowel.
05:38O.
05:39And a consonant.
05:41C.
05:42And a vowel.
05:45E.
05:47And another vowel.
05:50I.
05:51And a consonant.
05:53S.
05:54And a...
05:56A consonant, please.
06:00F.
06:00And a vowel.
06:02And lastly, you.

06:06MUSIC PLAYS
06:09Linda.
06:38Linda.
06:38No, I've only got a five.
06:40A five for Linda.
06:41And Veeraj?
06:42A seven.
06:42He's non-stop, Linda.
06:44What's the five?
06:44Faces.
06:45And the seven.
06:46Focused.
06:47Working and focused.
06:49Two perfect words for a champion so far.
06:52And a good early lead.
06:53Clare, how do we get on?
06:54Yeah, we've got an eight, which is audacious.
06:57E-dacious?
06:58E-dacious.
06:59Oh, OK.
06:59Not audacious.
07:00It's related to eating.
07:01So, if you've got a really voracious appetite, you are e-dacious.
07:05OK.
07:05Eating up the points so far is Veeraj.
07:07He's got a 14-point lead.
07:09But ten up for grabs now.
07:10And our champion is choosing the numbers.
07:12I'll take a six-mall again.
07:13Yeah, we don't need to ask, really, do we?
07:15Six little ones.
07:16One of the toughest selections we could find.
07:19But let's see how these ones fall.
07:21Six littles.
07:22Six, eight, three, seven, five, and ten.
07:27And the target to reach very small.
07:30One, three, four.
07:31Wow.
07:32One, three, four.
07:33Numbers up.
07:33One, three, four.
07:33One, two, three.
07:35The target to reach very small.
07:36One, three, four.
07:36One, three, four.
07:54One, three.
07:55One, four.
07:56One, three.
07:58Last time, Viraj, you got a bit lucky with the number there.
08:07Yeah, one, three, four.
08:07Yeah, and Linda?
08:08One, three, three.
08:09One away, so Viraj, ten points for you.
08:12Ten plus seven.
08:14Ten plus seven, 17.
08:16Times eight.
08:17Times by eight is one, three, six.
08:19And then five minus three is two, and take that away.
08:21Well done, one, three, four.
08:23Nice.
08:23APPLAUSE
08:24Great start for our champion, Linda.
08:28It can still be a wonderland for you.
08:29Early nerves out of the way.
08:31And our first teatime teaser is Dot's Tuna.
08:34Dot's Tuna.
08:35Dot's Tuna Pasta Bake was the highlight at the buffet.
08:39Dot's Tuna Pasta Bake was the highlight at the buffet.

09:08So, a consonant, please.
09:10Thank you, Linda.
09:12R.
09:13And another consonant.

09:16And another consonant.
09:18D.

09:45These letters.
09:46Bye-bye.
09:47Bye-bye.
09:48Who say?
09:49If you like.
09:49You'll be in the midst.
09:50Bye-bye.
09:54Bye-bye.
09:54Bye-bye.
10:12Bye-bye.
10:12Busy round that, Linda?
10:18Eight.
10:19An eight from you, and Veeraj?
10:20Eight.
10:21An eight as well.
10:22Linda, what's your word?
10:23Streamed.
10:24Streamed, lovely.
10:25And Veeraj?
10:26Mastered.
10:27And mastered, mastered and streamed.
10:29Well done, both of you.
10:31How did we get on?
10:32Exactly those two.
10:33Yeah, brilliant.
10:35Thank you so much.
10:36Eight points each.
10:37Linda, you're on the board, and Veeraj, you're picking the letters.
10:39I'll have a consonant, please.
10:41Thank you, Veeraj.
10:41S
10:42Another one.
10:45L
10:46Another one.
10:48T
10:48A vowel.
10:51I
10:52Another one.
10:53E
10:54And another one.
10:55O
10:55A consonant.
10:57N
10:58A vowel.
11:00I
11:01And a consonant, please.
11:03And a final G.
11:04And half a minute.
11:11Time's up.
11:37Veeraj?
11:38A seven.
11:39Oh, a seven.
11:40Linda?
11:41Seven for me as well.
11:42Seven for you.
11:42What have we got?
11:43A longest.
11:44Longest.
11:45And Linda?
11:46Tingles.
11:46And tingles.
11:48Excellent.
11:48I love tingles.
11:49Seven points each.
11:51Two really good rounds.
11:53Clare Richards, talk to me.
11:54So we've got a couple.
11:57Oiliest and singlet.
11:59And singlet.
12:00Yes.
12:00The best.
12:01Well, look at that.
12:02What a difference an ad break makes, Linda.
12:04You've gone toe-to-toe with your champion two rounds in a row.
12:07You've got 15 points on the board and it's your numbers.
12:10I think we'll try three large, please.
12:13Yes.
12:13I like these tactics.
12:14We'll try something different.
12:15Try and get some points.
12:16Still going for that teapot and three little ones.
12:19Right, Linda.
12:20We have six, four, two, 75, 100 and 50.
12:27And the target to reach, 235.
12:29235, numbers up.
12:59The target then, 235.
13:04Linda.
13:05No, it's nowhere near.
13:07Farage.
13:07235.
13:08Off you go.
13:0950 plus 100 plus 75 plus 4 plus 6.
13:13Yep.
13:14It may be complicated.
13:16There we go, 235.
13:17Well done.
13:20Unlucky, Linda.
13:21Good part for you, this.
13:22But falling down in those numbers, 49, 15.
13:26As we head over to Dictionary Corner to have a chat with Claire Richards again.
13:29Hey, you mentioned your recent solo album, Euphoria.
13:33Yes.
13:33Which is cover songs that you pick songs to cover.
13:37Now, Euphoria is Laureen.
13:39Yes.
13:40And, of course, look at everyone rolling their eyes in the studio, because that gets us back to the Eurovision.
13:44She's absolutely brilliant.
13:45She won it, of course, like Johnny Logan.
13:47She's now won it twice.
13:48Yeah.
13:49Winning in Liverpool.
13:50What a voice she has.
13:51That's a song to pick.
13:53I know.
13:53And the reason that I finished the whole album when I was asked to headline the Eurovision village just before.
14:01So, people bought tickets on the Saturday night and they went and there were lots of acts over the week.
14:07Yeah.
14:07I headlined it.
14:08And when we were talking about putting a set together, somebody said, we really need to do a Eurovision song.
14:14So, we chose Euphoria.
14:16And I still didn't have a name for the album at that point.
14:19And this kind of little light bulb went off.
14:21It was such a good name for an album.
14:23That's what we should call it.
14:25And then someone said, we should have recorded it.
14:27And it was, I delivered the album.
14:29It was all finished.
14:30And at the last minute, we recorded it.
14:32And the album's called it.
14:33It's the first track on the album.
14:35And it's, yeah.
14:36So, thanks to Laureen and Eurovision that I got a number two album out of it.
14:40I love it.
14:41How do you choose the tracks?
14:42Because it's obviously got to be specific to you.
14:46But then you're maybe also thinking about the order.
14:48Because you've got a Donna Summer track on there.
14:50This time I know it's for real.
14:52Yeah.
14:52Which is a beauty.
14:53But you don't hear it as much these days.
14:54I love the fact you picked that.
14:56What are your little favourites on there?
14:57The reason I picked all of the artists and the songs, because it came out of a conversation
15:03I was having, where I'm not trained.
15:05I didn't train as a singer.
15:07And I was obsessed with Karen Carpenter growing up.
15:11And I would listen and listen and listen.
15:14And then it went on to Whitney and Celine and Barbara and Donna Summer.
15:18And they're just, I always say that they're the people that taught me how to sing.
15:22Yeah.
15:22And created the voice that I've got now.
15:25I was very, I sounded like Julie Andrews when I started singing.
15:28I was very musical theatre, very proper.
15:30Did anyone say no?
15:32When you said, oh, I want to cover this song?
15:34Did anyone say, no, we're not letting you do that?
15:36You don't have to ask anyone.
15:37No.
15:38No.
15:38You don't have to ask anybody.
15:39As long as you give them the money.
15:40No, because once a song is out there and it's been released, that's why it's called
15:45a cover version.
15:46The only time you have to get permission is if a songwriter, you get it directly from
15:50the songwriter.
15:50Yeah.
15:51But I did get a message on Instagram from the man who wrote No More Tears saying that
15:56he absolutely loved a version with Delta Goodrum.
16:00So that was quite exciting.
16:01Who else is on there in terms of guest appearances?
16:05So I did No More Tears with Delta Goodrum and I did Summer Night City,
16:10which is an ABBA song with Andy Bell from Eurasia.
16:12Oh, he's a legend.
16:13Yeah.
16:14Yeah.
16:14He's amazing.
16:14And my childhood as well.
16:16I kind of feel like they did ABBA before we kind of did ABBA.
16:21Yeah, true.
16:22The ABBA SQP.
16:23Yeah.
16:24Yeah.
16:24Andy Bell's one of the quietest, well-mannered, lovely people you'll ever meet in music.
16:30I did Pop Star, Opera Star with him years ago and he was just the loveliest, loveliest man.
16:36And I feel very privileged to have been able to do a song with him.
16:40Well, a little respect to you.
16:41Fantastic stuff.
16:42Good to hear about Euphoria.
16:43Thank you, Claire.
16:46OK, here we go.
16:47Back to the game and who's picking it up?
16:50Virash.
16:50I'll start with a consonant, please.
16:52Thank you, Virash.
16:53B.
16:54Another one.
16:55T.
16:57A vowel.
16:59A.
17:00Another vowel.
17:02U.
17:03A consonant.
17:05S.
17:06Another consonant.
17:08V.
17:09A vowel.
17:11E.
17:12A consonant.
17:14D.
17:15And a vowel, please.
17:18And a final A.
17:19Start the clock.
17:50All right, Veerash.
17:52I'll risk a seven.
17:53Risking a seven, Linda.
17:54What have you got?
17:55Six.
17:56A six, it might count.
17:57What's the six?
17:58Abated.
17:59Abated.
17:59What are you risking?
18:00Subdate.
18:02Thinking about subwords, actually.
18:04Not there, unfortunately.
18:06Sublate, but not subdate.
18:08Abated takes it.
18:09Was there a seven in there?
18:11Not that we could find.
18:12No, and we didn't look.
18:13We've got busted and abused.
18:16Very good.
18:16So there you go.
18:17There wasn't a seven in there for you, Veerash.
18:19Linda, you're choosing these letters.
18:21A vowel, please.
18:24Thank you, Linda.
18:25I.
18:26And a consonant.
18:28R.
18:29And another consonant.
18:31T.
18:32And another consonant.

18:36And a vowel.

18:54A final R.
18:56And here we go.
18:57And a consonant.
19:09And a consonant.
19:13I.
19:14And a vowel.
19:24How many, Linda?
19:28Six, I'm afraid.
19:29Six, don't be afraid.
19:31Vairage?
19:32Seven.
19:32Linda?
19:33Cursor.
19:34Cursor for you.
19:35And Vairage?
19:36Curries.
19:36Dextry Corner, food for thought, please.
19:38Got an eight.
19:39It's not a particularly pleasant word.
19:41Crustier.
19:43Crustier?
19:43Yeah.
19:44Like your eyes in the morning?
19:46Yes.
19:47Maybe a crustier loaf.
19:48That's a better way of phrasing it, yes.
19:52Yeah.
19:53And recruits.
19:54As well, for eight.
19:55Very good.
19:56More numbers, please, Chan.
19:58I'll take six more again.
19:59Six more little ones coming up for you.
20:02Definitely your speciality.
20:03Right.
20:04They are this time two, six, nine, eight, ten, and one.
20:11And the target to reach 892.
20:14Ooh, eight, nine, two.
20:16Numbers up.
20:16I'll take care.
20:26I'll take care.
20:26Okay.
20:27Bye-bye.
20:29Bye-bye.
20:31Bye-bye.
20:33892 is the target.
20:49Viraj, did you get it?
20:50892.
20:50Well done, you, Linda.
20:51Nowhere there.
20:52My goodness me.
20:53Well done.
20:54Off you go.
20:556 minus 1 is 5.
20:566 minus 1 is the key.
20:57Times 2, times 10, times 9.
21:0010, 100, 900.
21:02And take the 8.
21:03Well done, 892.
21:05Well done.
21:07Right, let's go second key time teaser this afternoon.
21:10It is amend fur.
21:12Amend fur.
21:13That's F-U-R.
21:15Simple one, this.
21:15The picture definitely wasn't a set-up.
21:17The picture definitely wasn't a set-up.
21:20The picture definitely wasn't a set-up.
21:40Unframed.
21:41Unframed.
21:42OK, our champion's got a fairly comfortable lead.
21:44Viraj has 66.
21:46Linda has 21.
21:47But you're relaxed now and enjoying it a bit more, Linda.
21:49Yes?
21:50I managed to get the advert one this time.
21:54Oh, right.
21:55Well, I can't give you any points for that, Linda.
21:56No, I appreciate that.
21:58Right.
21:59Let's get more letters from you.
22:01Off you go.
22:02Right.
22:03So, a consonant, please.
22:04Thank you, Linda.
22:05And another consonant.
22:09W.
22:10And another consonant.
22:12P.
22:13And another consonant.
22:16L.
22:16And a vowel.
22:18O.
22:19And another vowel.
22:20A.
22:21And another vowel.
22:23E.
22:25And another vowel.
22:29O.
22:30And a consonant.
22:31And the last one.
22:33X.
22:34Let's play.
22:35Let's play.
23:05OK, Linda.
23:06Only six, I'm afraid.
23:08Six there.
23:08And Viraj.
23:09And six.
23:09Six as well, Linda.
23:11What have you got?
23:11Weapon.
23:12Well done for six.
23:13Well spotted.
23:14And Viraj.
23:14And the same.
23:15The same.
23:16Six as good as it gets, or?
23:18Yeah, it was for us.
23:19I was hoping for Polax, but you need the two E's for the British spelling.
23:23So, yeah, weapon was our best.
23:25A lot of near misses, but six is as good as we can do here in the studio.
23:29That's why, Linda, never say I'm afraid.
23:31It was a top-scoring word.
23:33Viraj, you're choosing these letters.
23:35I'll start with the consonant again.
23:36Thank you, Viraj.
23:37And lastly, Y.
23:49And lastly, Y.
24:03Currently.
24:04Kind down.
24:16Fair Ash?
24:36A six.
24:37A six, and Linda?
24:38No, five.
24:39Five for you, what's the five?
24:41Er, Daisy.
24:42Yeah, nice word though.
24:44And Fair Ash?
24:44Godify.
24:46Godify, G-O-D-I-F-Y.
24:48Absolutely fine.
24:49Very good.
24:50Yes.
24:50Good to get a six out of that, I would imagine.
24:52I imagine that might be another top score, is it?
24:54It was for us again.
24:55Yes.
24:57Gasify.
24:58Yeah.
24:59Fogies.
24:59And dosage.
25:01Yeah.
25:02That's it, all sixes.
25:03All sixes.
25:04That's got a bit tougher on here, hasn't it?
25:06We have four rounds left to go, 78 plus 27.
25:09And Susie were on the origins of words.
25:12It was out of this world yesterday, what about today?
25:14Well, it's still out of this world, which kind of fits with the Alice in Wonderland.
25:17My favourite quote from that is, we're all mad here, which probably applies to us at Countdown.
25:22But that was from the Mad Hatter.
25:23But I thought I'd kick off with a double whammy.
25:26So this is more about sort of spells, casting spells and that kind of thing.
25:30And a whammy on its own was an evil kind of hex.
25:35And it's an extension of wham.
25:37So the idea of sort of being hit by something, if you like.
25:40But whammy was particularly associated with a cartoon strip, actually, in the 1950s called Lil Abner.
25:45And in there, there was a character, a hillbilly, evil eye fleagle.
25:49And he could shoot a single whammy if he pointed, I won't do it to you, but he pointed his finger and kept one eye open.
25:56But if he kept both his eyes open, that was a double whammy.
26:00In other words, he was just fully directing his evil eye at you.
26:04So that's the original double whammy, which, of course, we don't use in that sense much.
26:08We just, it's like a double blow, if you like, and can be good.
26:11Hex itself, that goes back to a Pennsylvanian German word, hexer, meaning a witch is actually related to our word hag.
26:20But I thought I'd also, just children often say, why does spell mean two things?
26:25So to spell out words, but also a magic spell.
26:27Are they connected?
26:28And they absolutely are.
26:30So the bewitching and chanting and the, you know, the spelling out of letters of a particular word.
26:36And it starts in Old English when spell with one L meant a story or a speech.
26:40And you'll find that in gospel.
26:42So gospel is short for good spell, good news or a good story.
26:45It's where it comes from.
26:47And then in around the 16th century, when education focused on lots of things, including alchemy and astrology and the sort of magic arts, if you like,
26:55a spell had become the right speech to use when invoking magic powers.
27:01And a night spell was really important.
27:03And it was special words that were read out at night to protect you, particularly children.
27:09And so that idea of telling a story, if you like, then was transferred to reading something out and then spelling out words.
27:16It's all the idea of telling, almost kind of explaining.
27:20So the idea of protection and of magic, sadly, although I think there is magic in spelling, that has slightly slipped away.
27:26And now spelling is mostly about using the right letters in a word.
27:30Nice.
27:33Four lines left to go.
27:34Linda, look where you've caused all this Wonderland chat.
27:36I love it.
27:37Your letters.
27:39So a consonant, please.
27:40Thank you, Linda.
27:41L.
27:42And another consonant.
27:45R.
27:46And the third one.

28:02And a consonant.
28:04N.
28:05And a vowel.
28:07O.
28:09And a consonant.
28:09And lastly, P.
28:12And a P.

28:13Good luck.
28:14Good luck.

28:44Time's up. Linda.
28:46I'll try an eight.
28:48Viraj. An eight.
28:49An eight as well. Linda, what's the word?
28:51Oh, well, I don't think mine exists, actually.
28:53It's plantier.
28:54You never know. Could be in there. Could be in there.
28:57Viraj. Relation.
28:58Well, I don't know. It's a bit of an amateur gardener.
29:01I mean, something can be, you know, more plantier.
29:04I'm trying.
29:05I know, you're trying.
29:06And it's, you know, people would understand what you meant.
29:08It's just not in the dictionary, unfortunately.
29:11Yeah.
29:11Yeah. I'm not sure people would know what you meant, to be honest, Linda.
29:15But I like the word. I will use it in my life.
29:18No points for you, though. 86, 27.
29:21Anything else at Dick Street Corner?
29:23Yes, we have got a nine.
29:24Oh, hello.
29:26Rantipole.
29:27Yeah.
29:28Rantipole.
29:29It's a great archaic insult.
29:31And it's a wild, ill-behaved, boisterous or disorderly person.
29:37So a real, a rogue, a minx, a roisterer.
29:41I could read on from the definition.
29:43I should just say, in English dialect as well,
29:45it can mean something entirely different, which is a seesaw.
29:47So there might be viewers thinking, that's a seesaw for us.
29:50Anyway, that will give us a nine.
29:52What a beautiful word.
29:53Good.
29:56Rantipole.
29:56Viraj, last letters round you're choosing.
30:00I'll start with a vowel.
30:01Thank you, Viraj.
30:02And a final, A.
30:04Last letters.
30:05And a final, A.
30:06Last letters.
30:30Thanks.
30:34Bye.
30:35One of my favorite.
30:37I'll start with you.
30:41I'll start with you.
30:42Bye.
30:42Bye.
30:43Bye.
30:43Bye.
30:44Bye.
30:45Bye.
30:57Bye.
30:57Vairage?
31:02A seven.
31:03And Linda?
31:03Seven.
31:04Yes, you have these little purple patches where you're amazing.
31:07Vairage?
31:08Brigade.
31:09Brigade, yes.
31:09And Linda?
31:10A bridge.
31:11And a bridge.
31:12A bridge and brigade.
31:13Very good indeed.
31:14Fantastic.
31:14Claire, you're coming off a nine here, so the only way is down.
31:18I can't do any better than that, I'm afraid.
31:19It's exactly the same as what we had.
31:22All good then?
31:22Yeah.
31:22Lovely.
31:2393-34 as Vairage heads towards yet another century on Countdown and a fifth win.
31:32But Linda, he's not there yet.
31:33Let's get your numbers.
31:35So we'll try another three large.
31:37Yes.
31:37Why not?
31:38Another three large just for fun because numbers are always fun.
31:42Final one of the day.
31:44Eight.
31:45Seven.
31:46One.
31:47And the big one's 100.
31:4850.
31:49And 75.
31:50And the target to reach 846.
31:53They really aren't.
31:55Eight, four, six.
31:56Last numbers.
31:56Eight, four, six.
32:258-4-6, the target.
32:29Linda?
32:308-4-3.
32:31Three away.
32:32Viraj?
32:338-4-8.
32:34And two away.
32:35So for seven points and that 100, Viraj?
32:37100 plus seven, minus one.
32:40100 plus seven, minus one.
32:42106.
32:43Times eight.
32:44Times eight.
32:448-4-8, two away.
32:46This was really difficult.
32:47Rachel, did you get to 8-4-6?
32:49This was actually impossible.
32:51So you could have got to one away, 8-4-5.
32:54But, yeah, very well done for the seven points.
32:56Well, not that well done.
32:57He didn't get one away.
32:58I mean, that would have been very special.
33:00Adequate.
33:00Adequate.
33:01And how did you do, Colin?
33:02I...
33:03Yeah, yeah.
33:04It was good, Ryan.
33:05100 plays 34.
33:07But it's been a really good afternoon.
33:09It'll be really good fun.
33:10Let's get fingers on the buzzers then.
33:11Ten more points up for grabs.
33:13Here we go.
33:15As we reveal this Tuesday afternoon,
33:17Countdown Conundrum.
33:22Viraj?
33:23Overthrew.
33:23Let's have a look.
33:25Correct.
33:28And you will not be overthrown as champion.
33:31110.
33:32Your second highest score out of your five wins.
33:36Well done to you, sir.
33:37Brilliant.
33:37Now, Friday will become an octo-champ.
33:39Three more hurdles to get over.
33:42Well, Linda, it was a slow start,
33:44but it's been a joy to have you.
33:45And you did all right in the end, I thought.
33:47You happy enough?
33:48Well, I didn't expect to win against Viraj, to be fair.
33:52So, yes, I'm happy enough.
33:54Well, Linda, nice to have you.
33:55Safe trip home.
33:57Claire and Susie, we'll see you tomorrow.
33:58Yep.
33:59Looking forward to it.
33:59Good week so far.
34:01Fancy dress parties.
34:02Surely, now, as a mum of two girls,
34:04you're constantly making them.
34:06Well, it's amazing.
34:07One day in the summer, my daughter was three and a half,
34:09and she woke up one day and she said,
34:11I need an Elsa costume.
34:13I was like, is that how it happens?
34:14She'd never seen Frozen at that stage.
34:16And since then, she makes her little sister dress up as Olaf,
34:18the snowman.
34:19She dresses as Elsa,
34:20and she does the worst rendition of all the wrong words
34:23to the Frozen classics.
34:24I love it.
34:25It's brilliant.
34:26It hardly sounds fair, the snowman or Elsa,
34:29but we'll let it go at that point.
34:31And we'll pick it back up tomorrow.
34:32Same time, same place.
34:33Rachel, Susie and I will be here.
