00:00Shocking new data has revealed posties are injured at least five times a week in third-party traffic
00:06accidents, with more than 280 incidents recorded in the past year, according to new research from
00:12Australia Post. And these accidents are often serious in nature and include things like broken
00:17limbs, hospitalisation, concussions, lacerations and psychological trauma following the incident.
00:24The crashes often involve drivers failing to give way, overtaking unsafely or using their
00:30phones behind the wheel. Australia Post says it's working to reduce its motorcycle fleet
00:35and expand the use of its safer electric delivery vehicles, but warns road safety remains a shared
00:42responsibility. We don't compromise on safety and that's why we've invested millions of dollars in
00:46advanced technology and training to keep our teams safe on the road. But it isn't just up to us,
00:52which is why we're asking all drivers to be alert and keep an eye out for our posties on the roads,
00:56especially in roundabouts and areas where they may be exiting a footpath onto the roadway.
