00:00Around 46 posties a week fall victim to dog-related incidents. That's around nine attacks per
00:13day. Australia Post reports that one in three incidents happen while the postie is delivering
00:19a package on a customer's property. But posties report they are not even safe when in transit,
00:25with an estimated 62% of dog attacks happening on the street. If a postie is attacked or
00:31threatened by a dog, Australia Post will stop delivering mail to that address, and all incidents
00:37are reported to local councils. In order to curb the attacks, posties have also been given
00:43citronella spray as a defence. The spray has proven effective in deterring dogs in around
00:4990% of reported incidents.
