00:00Let's keep this short and sweet.
00:10Our couples are well and truly in the honeymoon period.
00:15David and Kia spent their trip to South Africa
00:18finishing their A to Z guide to animal sexuality.
00:23What's the collective noun for zebras?
00:26It's called a dazzle of zebras.
00:29Gay.
00:30Yeah.
00:31Dean found out that his herb jokes aren't to Sarah's taste.
00:35Oh, hello.
00:37Hello Vera.
00:38It's hi Basel.
00:40Yeah, it's nice here though.
00:41Pretty mint.
00:42Meanwhile, Julia, Ruth and Devani have been spending some time apart.
00:47Anita can't deal with Paul's verbal diarrhoea
00:50and Lee said oregano to going on the zip line with Leah.
00:55Can I just check, do you like my herb jokes, Sarah?
00:58Because please, honestly, just stop.
01:01I'll take that as a yes.
01:03I'm Lucinda Leish.
01:04Welcome to Maths UK.
01:05It's official.
01:07This is the official Maths UK debrief where I'm joined by celeb superfans,
01:22our experts and our incredible brides and grooms as they embark on married life.
01:28You know I love to give you an exclusive.
01:31So later in the show, we will be joined by our wonderful groom, Kia.
01:35But before then, I'm going to take a zip line straight into this week's Maths action with Yinka Bikini.
01:42Yes, my tangerine mandarin.
01:47What is your take on the couples of Maths this year?
01:51There's some really interesting relationship dynamics that of course are yet to play out,
01:56but it's such interesting watching.
01:58Well, look, I've got some questions for you.
02:01If you were married at first sight, what would your complete package partner be?
02:06I think for me, we could even just describe your partner now.
02:09Yeah, I'm trying to think like, what's he like?
02:11And let me make sure I hit those points because he's probably going to listen.
02:15Someone who's attentive, caring, someone who can make jokes and,
02:20believe it or not, bursts into song and starts rapping.
02:23Like, I find it so endearing.
02:26Yeah, so you're a bit like me.
02:27You're a fan of Dean.
02:29I mean, you know, no one loved Dean.
02:31And I see a lot of myself and my other half in Dean.
02:35Yeah, me too.
02:36I've got a bit of Dean in me as well, absolutely.
02:37Yeah, and I just think he is just hilarious.
02:40Hilarious.
02:41And what would your dream destination honeymoon be?
02:45Maybe somewhere mountainous, Norway or, you know, like Tromso vibes.
02:52Yes.
02:53But equally, take me to the Maldives and I'll be happy.
02:55Yes.
02:56So we've been treated to seven weddings this week.
03:01So Nellie and Stephen, what a gorgeous couple.
03:03Yeah.
03:04Just, you know, her rocking up in the dolly.
03:06Wasn't that beautiful?
03:08And just his deep acceptance and wonderment at the beauty that was before him.
03:13I wasn't sure if they were going to work immediately just because he's quite quiet and he seems pretty reserved.
03:21So seeing his reaction to her at the aisle and his celebration of her culture.
03:27So lovely.
03:28It was absolutely gorgeous.
03:30And both of them actually are, you know, lovely to look at, but there's so much more deep down.
03:34What I was really touched by was that, you know, Nellie had been quite stung by men in the past that have cheated.
03:41You know, and as we know, that can really erode your self-confidence.
03:45And it was so lovely.
03:46And I really believe him when Stephen says, well, I've never cheated before.
03:50Yeah.
03:51That's just not my bag.
03:52A hundred percent.
03:53You know, the fact that she's excited to meet his children and they're actually looking forward, not just being stuck in the beautiful moment that is their honeymoon, which is really exciting.
04:02And one of her big things was a really cool man.
04:04And I just love the whole proportion between them.
04:07She's like, yes, I like that tree.
04:08Yeah, when she says she has to stick her back up, I thought, yeah.
04:11So Grace and Ashley, Grace cried on her wedding day.
04:16She was pretty upset.
04:17She thought, oh, I think I've made a big mistake here.
04:21But I think really when they sort of re-established on the honeymoon to combat her friendship, I think they really started building from that place.
04:31When she suggested that they start off as friends, my belly fell into my bum a little bit.
04:38You know, I just thought, oh, no, like your friend's owning him.
04:41And maybe you're not giving it the best shot or maybe you're not really sort of committing to something outside of your known type.
04:52Both total sweethearts just on very different stratospheres with very different values.
04:57A hundred percent.
04:58So let's talk about Leah and Leah, shall we?
05:02Yes, we shall.
05:03Bless them.
05:04Leah was quite disappointed that she didn't get a more mask female.
05:10I think if any of us know anything about the experiment that is Maths UK, it's that expect the unexpected.
05:17Absolutely.
05:18You're there to be challenged in what you believe is right for you.
05:21Because, you know, just to be frank, if you were absolutely correct, you'd already be married.
05:25You know, it hasn't worked out.
05:28So I do think that she sort of went into it with this very specific idea of what her perfect partner looks like and just missed the very masculine presence that I think Leah has.
05:42Because she very much does have a, I mean, her on that zip line, like she's quite an adventurer.
05:47Yeah.
05:48And she has a boss-ness about her.
05:50She does.
05:51That is so attractive.
05:52Yeah.
05:53And it's very alluring.
05:54And I think that there needs to be a bit more vulnerability from Leah to be able to be looked after in the way that she seems to crave.
06:02Yeah.
06:03You know, I've got the walls up.
06:04It's true.
06:05It's going to take a very particular person to help crumble those walls.
06:09Yeah.
06:10But I'm happy that she opened up.
06:11Same.
06:12And I hope we see more of that.
06:13And that we get to know her too.
06:15Yes.
06:16So Maeve and Joe, now this was an interesting match.
06:19I think Maeve said at some stage that Joe was in the top five fittest fellas that she'd ever experienced.
06:27I loved that.
06:29Maeve's a huge, isn't she?
06:31And Joe, on the other hand, was a bit scared that he'd got a bit of a party girl.
06:36I think that they are a match made in heaven.
06:39Maeve reminds me of a lot of my family members and my friends, like that big brash outer shell that exudes life and party, but very close to the surface is a sweetheart.
06:53Yeah.
06:54I think she does need somebody, and I think Joe can be that person who grounds her, who shows her that she's worthy, shows her that she's more than the performance that she puts on.
07:02But I also think Joe can learn a thing or two from Maeve.
07:06Oh, God, yeah.
07:07I think that he can learn to let loose a little bit.
07:09Loosen up a bit.
07:10I think that he can learn to have a bit of fun.
07:12She isn't the only work in progress here.
07:14Oh, no, no, no, not at all.
07:15They both are, you know?
07:16Absolutely.
07:17I think they could complement each other really well, as long as we keep the argumentativeness at bay.
07:23My fingers and toes are crossed for those two.
07:26So Julia, Ruth and Devani, well, the sparks were flying at the end of the hour, those.
07:32But unfortunately, it then got really rocky in Morocco.
07:35They had a bit of space, and then they came back together and Devani serenaded her with one of his original songs.
07:43What are your thoughts on these two?
07:54I fear that they were a firework.
07:58Very explosive, but fizzled out quite quickly.
08:01I think that the initial attraction for these two gorgeous people...
08:06Gorgeous.
08:07..was very strong.
08:09Yeah.
08:10I think that she was completely correct in needing to have a balance between deeper and more potentially negative stories and the fun element.
08:21But he seems to be somebody who is so comfortable in silence that it can make the average person uncomfortable.
08:27It really sort of made my heart go, oh, when he said you don't get a second chance with a woman like this.
08:33Yes.
08:34Sometimes people think that in order to get closer, you share sad stories.
08:39Or in order to get closer, you talk about the worst things that's ever happened to you.
08:43Yes, but equally important is joy.
08:46Yes.
08:47And equally important is fun and frivolity.
08:49Especially early days.
08:50Yes.
08:51At the altar, she says, I hope you surprise me with forehead kisses and bum grabs.
08:56I ain't seen none of that.
08:57Yeah, where's the bum?
08:58Get in there.
08:59Yeah.
09:00That is full permission.
09:01Yeah, she is saying, like...
09:02And she's such a babe.
09:03I know.
09:04Oh.
09:05Rebecca and Bailey.
09:07This was an interesting one.
09:09A bit similar to Lee and Leah.
09:11Rebecca wasn't seeing the masculine, the alpha that she wanted in Bailey from, you know, Dot Go.
09:18But then, of course, the cyclone happened on the honeymoon.
09:21Love Mother Nature.
09:23And they could not leave.
09:24They could not leave the honeymoon room.
09:27And that brought them naturally close together.
09:29So Bailey is very interesting to me.
09:32I love the fact that he's being challenged in just being honest.
09:38Yes.
09:39And we all tell white lies.
09:40And especially when...
09:41Six foot forward.
09:42Yeah.
09:43She's like, hang on a minute.
09:44Gets her tape measure out.
09:46At first, I was worried that in her pursuit of an alpha, she would completely ignore all of the gorgeous things about him.
09:54But actually, you know...
09:56She surrendered into her.
09:57Yeah.
09:58And I never thought that I'd be thankful for a cyclone.
10:00So there's that as well.
10:02Yeah.
10:03Because it really has helped them.
10:04But I hope he doesn't lose himself in the process like his friends were talking about in previous relationships.
10:08Yeah.
10:09And I think more than wanting an alpha, she just wants somebody that's authentically themselves.
10:13Yes.
10:14I'm thinking these two might have a beautiful journey together.
10:18So let's talk about Anita and Paul.
10:21So Anita was a little bit unsure that this was the silver fox she was truly calling in.
10:29And she said that she's not sure if Paul's actually really ready for marriage.
10:34I mean, he does crack me up though.
10:37He's just a joke a minute, isn't he?
10:39All the dad jokes.
10:40Fish back pushed.
10:41Yeah.
10:42Very silly.
10:43Very funny.
10:44So I think it's going to be a bit of a comedy show.
10:46I don't know if Anita finds it funny.
10:49That's the problem.
10:50Yeah.
10:51And him saying he doesn't know what love is.
10:53To me, I don't hear, I don't know what I want.
10:55I don't know what it is.
10:56It's that he's here to find out.
10:58Maybe he couldn't articulate himself in the way that would have appeased her.
11:02But...
11:03It was very honest.
11:04Yeah, it's honest.
11:05He's been in a love story for 15 years.
11:08You know, this guy's been out on his own.
11:10But what a brave soul.
11:12Yeah.
11:13You know, he's pretty chuffed by Anita.
11:14Yeah, he is.
11:15Yes.
11:16And the poor guy has no idea that she's getting really irritated.
11:19He's definitely in his Dick Van Dyke era of sort of like playing the bagpipes over here and banging the drum and he's doing the dance.
11:26I think that's just how he's always been.
11:28But if he can shed it just a little bit, they both need to shift and just get on the same wavelength.
11:34Or he is going to irritate her to death.
11:37Maybe they need the dinner party or maybe they need the couch session.
11:40They need something just to reshift it so they can remember why they signed up for this.
11:46We caught up with two couples last week and one was Dean and Sarah.
11:51And I think Dean was a little bit heartbroken when Sarah sort of announced very earnestly, you did ask her, that she'd never dated a bigger bodied person before.
12:02You never want anyone to feel unloved or unworthy, especially for an outward feature.
12:11I don't know if there are other ways to deliver it.
12:14And she's very heavily set on the physical attributes of, you know, tattoos and being a bit of a bad boy.
12:22I feel like I'm Sarah's type.
12:24That's just decorations on a Christmas tree.
12:28You know, that's that's just that's so unimportant to the real essence of who somebody is.
12:36I think that theirs is the most difficult to watch because the more rejected he feels, the more he goes into the habits that are then grating on her that are then making her sort of rejecting more.
12:48So then he acts out more, you know, it's a really difficult cycle that I think that they're currently in.
12:56So David and Kia.
12:58So we're going to meet Kia later.
13:00I'm so excited.
13:01So am I.
13:02We're going to have him here.
13:03Get ready.
13:04But of course, we enjoyed their honeymoon in South Africa.
13:07Like what a trip that was.
13:09They are absolutely fantastic.
13:14I was I was a little bit worried when Kia wasn't going to say that he had been married before.
13:21Yeah.
13:22And I was apprehensive about that conversation.
13:26And the way David handled it was just with such class.
13:30So beautiful.
13:31He is a classy, classy man.
13:32He is.
13:33I think it's all the languages he can speak.
13:35He's fabulous.
13:36And just to hold such a safe space.
13:38Exactly.
13:39This has been such a pleasure to watch.
13:40Such a joy.
13:41I'm so excited because we're about to get Kia's actual point of view because he is going
13:46to be squished here right in the middle of us.
13:49Bring him in.
13:50Very soon.
13:51Bring him in.
13:52Bring it in.
14:05Kia.
14:07Welcome to Maths UK.
14:08It's official.
14:10How are you, Gordas?
14:11Good.
14:12Amazing.
14:13Yeah.
14:14A little bit nervous, but good.
14:15Good.
14:16Calm.
14:17Yeah.
14:18We're there.
14:19We're there at the end of the aisle.
14:20What were your first thoughts when you saw David?
14:23Oh, honestly, I was so, so nervous walking down.
14:27And then it was just that sigh of relief as I saw him because he like grabbed my hands
14:31and was like, we've got this.
14:32And it was just like everything washed away and I was calm.
14:36Beautiful.
14:37Yeah.
14:38What a gorgeous moment.
14:39It's just been a delight to watch.
14:40You are such a ball of energy to actually watch you be delighted by your husband.
14:48Like I was sobbing a little bit.
14:50Oh, stop.
14:51Stop.
14:52I felt it.
14:53It was so like palpable, your energy, the chemistry.
14:57It just popped out the screen.
14:59We could all feel it.
15:00Now, I think your mum is just such a beautiful woman.
15:03Isn't she divine?
15:04She's an absolute icon.
15:05She is an icon.
15:06She's iconic.
15:07And I loved when she pulled, you know, David aside and said, look, Kia takes a while to open
15:12up.
15:13I feel like it was quite different, your interaction with David.
15:16Do you feel that he more than any past relationships put you at ease?
15:22Oh, 100%.
15:23I think opening up has always been really, really difficult for me.
15:26But I think with David, I just, I felt at ease straight away.
15:28It was immediate.
15:29I think even before, even before I walked down the aisle, I'd said to friends, all I just
15:33need is someone that grabs me and just says, it's going to be okay.
15:35Basically, he did exactly that.
15:36And it just, it just put everything at ease.
15:39There's just, there was so much comfort in like the eye contact that he gave throughout
15:43talking and just like dancing with me to calm my nerves, like just came naturally.
15:47Like it, it was, it's, it was a very different start to any other relationship I've ever had.
15:51Because he's got a very relaxed central nervous system, doesn't he?
15:55Yeah, incredibly.
15:56Whereas your like excitable puppy, like which we love.
16:00It's just absolutely awesome and exciting to watch.
16:04On the honeymoon, you felt that, that David was perfect in every way.
16:09And I mean, he said that you're his person.
16:11Like, how did you know?
16:13He just, he just kind of got me in a way that like little things that make, that you didn't
16:19see like on the plane.
16:20Like I, I hate flying.
16:21I'm terrified of flying.
16:22So he distracted me with a game on the screen and pretended his wasn't working.
16:26Was like, show me how it works on yours.
16:27So that I didn't notice we were taking off.
16:29Like it was, it was, I got sensory overload when we landed at the airport and he was
16:34like, Kia, three things you can see, three things you can smell.
16:36And like just continuously distracted me to keep me calm at all times.
16:40Like it, it was like, I'd always known him.
16:42And like, he just knew every aspect of me before even I was recognizing that I was nervous
16:47or overwhelmed by things.
16:48So tapped in.
16:49Yeah.
16:50Is that what sets him apart from your previous relationships?
16:52Yeah.
16:53Yeah.
16:54I think just giving that, that genuine safe space without making me feel silly or like
16:59I'm being overdramatic or over the top about things.
17:01Now, I just have to say, you guys were really quite steamy.
17:06I'm in the hot tub scene.
17:08And you know, when the photographer felt like she was third wheeling, how did it feel building
17:14this sexual tension?
17:15It felt amazing.
17:16It felt really good.
17:17I think, especially within the gay community, we can often just jump straight into the physical.
17:21And I think building that emotional connection throughout it and building that tension was
17:27just very different to anything I've done before and just made everything much more exciting
17:32when it did happen.
17:33I won't ask you to give explicit details about ripping each other's clothes off and
17:37all of that, even though we're all dying to know.
17:39Absolutely.
17:40But yeah, we'll leave it there.
17:42But yeah, it was quite exciting, obviously, building the sexual tension.
17:45It was even more exciting to be involved in it, I can promise.
17:48I love it.
17:51Did you feel you could fully express yourself and give yourself over to David and vice versa?
17:58Do you both feel you didn't hold back and fully gave yourself to each other?
18:03Do you know, I feel like the biggest positive and difference with my relationship with David,
18:07actually, is he's the one person in the world that I don't have to give 110% to.
18:11And he'll kind of just take the reins.
18:13And I think that's what makes him such a safe, comforting space.
18:16You know, when it comes to being vulnerable, obviously, as a viewer, I take for granted
18:22that there are cameras in your face.
18:24Oh, yeah.
18:25And so I expect you to be yourself and there should be no performance.
18:29But you're so sorry.
18:32I call everyone who doesn't work in media a civilian.
18:34That's absolutely fine.
18:35I'm just general population.
18:36It's cool.
18:37Whatever.
18:40I die.
18:41Civilian.
18:42You are a regular person.
18:45And I mean it as a compliment.
18:46I promise I do.
18:47No, it's okay.
18:48I'm average at best.
18:49But you're like, you know, you're just like a guy, right?
18:51Like you're like, you're.
18:52So, yes, it's a new experience because you're in this experiment.
18:56But then also it's like.
18:59Yeah.
19:00Pretty intense.
19:01Yeah.
19:02For both of you, like, it must be such a whirlwind on top of something
19:06that is already quite uncomfortable.
19:08Yeah.
19:09No, it definitely is.
19:10Although I do think, and I'm sure it was the same for you,
19:12the cameras kind of just phased into the background.
19:14Yeah.
19:15You completely forget they're there.
19:16By the time you're back from the honeymoon at least,
19:19like everything just, it just seems normal.
19:21You're acclimatized.
19:22Yeah, completely.
19:23Like during the honeymoon and the wedding it was super weird
19:25and I'm not going to pretend it wasn't.
19:26But once you're back you're kind of like,
19:28oh yeah, no, it's those guys again.
19:30This is normal.
19:31So we absolutely loved watching you in South Africa on safari.
19:36Although I think you did make a bit of noise
19:41and the animals did wince a little bit.
19:44What?
19:45I know.
19:46I was happy I'm going to die.
19:51I'm not upset.
19:53And we do have a very fun game for you.
19:57So this one is called David Attenborough.
20:00Fabulous in every way.
20:02And so I've got a bit of a lucky dip of safari animals here
20:05and I'm going to get you to choose them.
20:07And in your most whispered voice, you know,
20:10just to protect the wildlife around.
20:12I want you to, you know, make their association with other brides
20:17and grooms as to who could be who.
20:19If you don't whisper, we are going to do a bit of a,
20:23should we do it together?
20:25Shhhh.
20:26So the fabulous twist to this game.
20:29Yinka's going to ask you a four foot question.
20:32Do I have to whisper in between animals as well?
20:35Yes.
20:36Okay, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool.
20:37But we don't.
20:38Yeah.
20:39I'm getting that vibe.
20:40Yeah.
20:41That didn't really need to be mansplained.
20:43I can hear that.
20:45Okay.
20:46You ready?
20:47Well, lucky dip in.
20:48So we've got them.
20:49You actually saw a lion too, didn't you?
20:51We did.
20:52We saw a whole family of lions.
20:53What's it called?
20:54A bride.
20:55Yes.
20:56A bride of lion.
20:57The lion reminds me of Maeve.
21:00Why Maeve?
21:01Because it's, it's bushy.
21:03It's loud.
21:04It's proud.
21:05So Maeve is bushy, loud and proud.
21:09That sounds like.
21:10Bullshy.
21:11Bullshy.
21:12I didn't even know that word.
21:13Shhhh.
21:15Four for questions.
21:16Stupid game.
21:17Yes.
21:19Who would survive longer on a deserted island?
21:22You or Daveed?
21:23Daveed.
21:24Why?
21:25Because I wouldn't live without luxury.
21:27Ah.
21:30I'd forfeit myself from that island.
21:32So no time, no, yeah.
21:33It's not happening for you.
21:34Not for you being stranded on an island.
21:36Shhhh.
21:37What?
21:38You're encouraging me to talk.
21:39That's right.
21:40What is the worst item of clothing in Daveed's wardrobe?
21:44Oh, that's saucy.
21:45Oh, he's wonderfully dressed.
21:47He doesn't have anything.
21:48Terrible.
21:49Wow, that's great.
21:50You've seen the man.
21:51The man, he's like a stylist.
21:52Impeccable.
21:54Oh, here we go.
21:57What have we got?
21:58The horny elephant.
21:59I'm going to say Lee.
22:01Why Lee?
22:02Because like an elephant is like wise, isn't it?
22:04It's like wise and I feel like Lee throughout is, gives really good, solid advice.
22:09Ah.
22:10Good whispering.
22:11Yeah.
22:12You really don't want more for questions.
22:13I really don't.
22:14Let's go one more animal.
22:15Wonderful.
22:16We love.
22:19Is it a cheetah or a leopard?
22:20I'm going to say it's a leopard because of the spots.
22:22You don't have to whisper.
22:23Oh yeah, sorry.
22:24You don't have to whisper.
22:25But if you keep whispering.
22:26You don't have to whisper.
22:27But it's helping me to whisper.
22:28Shh.
22:29That was a whisper.
22:30That wasn't.
22:31No, don't.
22:32Okay.
22:33What's the worst item of clothing in your wardrobe?
22:36Oh God, so many.
22:37What's the worst item?
22:38I don't feel like you'd have, you've got great taste.
22:40You've got very good taste.
22:41Yeah, you do.
22:42Oh, I have a pair of teddy bear knit flared trousers.
22:45The visuals are going on.
22:46Yeah, yeah.
22:47Well, that, that was fun playing that with you guys.
22:48I'm going to give you an award presenting you with this giraffe.
22:49I'm going to give the giraffe.
22:50I mean, it was a bit of a fail, but I love that you just got involved.
22:51And it's my favourite.
22:52Yinka and Keir, it's been an absolute delight to have you on the couch, you gorgeous creature.
23:06So, in the spirit of the commitment ceremony that we're seeing on MAPS, I would like to ask
23:13you both, whether you would like to stay or leave.
23:16Oh.
23:17Have you had that much of a good time that you'd like to stay?
23:19Or do you want to get the hell out of here?
23:21Be honest.
23:22I won't take it personally.
