00:00My Deli Newcastle, behind me here, has been named among the top 1% restaurants in TripAdvisor's Travelers Choice Best of the Best Awards 2025.
00:10The restaurant ranks number 22 in the UK for casual dining, making it the only Indian restaurant in the North East to make the prestigious list.
00:18I wouldn't say it's unprecedented. I know a lot of restaurants and hospitality businesses have been awarded this as well.
00:26For us, it's just, you know, from a small restaurant here, Newcastle, where it started in 2019, to be recognised like this is just, it's very humbling.
00:37And it's such a massive achievement for us.
00:41Indian restaurant, I mean, India is such a big, you know, country.
00:45You know, you can almost think of it like Europe, with its different, you know, different states and cities.
00:53It's got so many cultures, so many different varieties of cuisine as well.
00:59And I think, you know, we just wanted to focus on one regional park.
01:03And that is Deli. Our executive chef is from Deli.
01:07We wanted to bring not just the cuisine, but also the whole experience.
01:12TripAdvisor's Best of the Best is based on millions of reviews from diners around the world.
01:17And places like My Deli are in the top tier of over 8 million listings worldwide.
01:23Since opening in 2019, My Deli has earned praise for its authentic deli street food created by chefs originally from India's capital.
01:31The brand now has locations in Sunderland and Leicester and is preparing to expand even further.

01:45It's outside of the Northeast.
01:48And we've been looking for a very long time.
01:51We get so many comments from people messaging us as well.
01:55Like, you know, when are you opening?
01:57In Devon, in Lincoln, in Birmingham.
02:00We get comments like that.
02:02So we've been, we can only say, look, we are looking.
02:06We're looking in every major city in the UK.
02:10We're looking for the right spot though.
02:12You know, location is very important.
02:15We get it right.
02:16And so, yeah, it should be very soon.
02:20We will announce a new spot.
02:22But we're growing organically.
02:24And, you know, we want to make sure that, you know, we don't take our eyes or eyeballs off any restaurant.
02:30We want to make sure that every restaurant is running right.
02:34It's a very tough climate now for hospitality.
02:37There's a lot of challenges which are well documented.
02:40And, you know, we want to make sure that we get all aspects right because we're here for the long haul.
02:46And we want to open in every major city that's been our ambition for a very long time.
02:52But we'll only open when the time is right.
02:54But, yeah, going back to an announcement, it should be very soon.
