India's External Affairs Minister has publicly called US tariffs imposed on the country "very unfair," specifically referencing penalties for sourcing energy from Russia. The minister pointed out that other countries, including those in Europe, are also buying Russian oil without facing similar repercussions, highlighting a perceived double standard. This statement comes amid ongoing trade discussions with the United States where a resolution has not yet been reached. The minister conveyed a key message: "we have publicly said we regard it as very unfair, which has picked on us for sourcing energy from Russia, when of course there are other countries who have done so." While acknowledging the issues, the minister suggested they should be seen in proportion and not as a fundamental threat to the overall relationship, confirming that both countries are actively working to resolve the tensions.

01:22a second tariff which you know we have said we publicly said we regard it as very unfair which
01:28has picked on us uh for uh sourcing energy from russia when of course there are other countries
01:34who have done so uh including countries who right now have a far more antagonistic relationship with
01:40russia than we do so uh i i don't want you know i'm not minimizing the issues but i don't think we
01:50should take it to a point as though this is going to percolate to every dimension of the relationship
