00:00Santa and Company was born from a simple premise. If Santa Claus came to town before Christmas,
00:04he would see humans and especially children awake, so how would he react?
00:19That's how he ended up directing a Christmas movie and playing Santa Claus in one of my favorite roles.
00:23Because here Santa Claus is shown as a child, impatient, innocent, a little annoying, but generous.
00:30The character is the opposite of what a human being is, far from capitalism, from wickedness.
00:35And these are often the roles that Shabba adopts in his films: disconnected characters, big children.
00:40Santa and Company is a beautiful gift from the director, a little treat where love and kindness predominate.
00:46All sprinkled, of course, with his absurd humor and his sense of reference.
00:50Tim Burton is not far behind here, especially in everything surrounding toy design and the world of Santa.
00:55He also takes a small dig at the film industry.
00:58When one of the elves implies that a toy is a good toy if it's fun to make, not when it's mass-produced.
01:03We can also note this scene where the couple from the film are in front of a cinema and hesitate between the umpteenth superhero blockbuster in 8 parts,
01:10the art film with all its festival flags on a depressing poster,
01:14and genre cinema, notably with a nice nod to the city of fear.
01:17You've got a bread of art, you, endless superhero movies, the 6th, the 5th, they blow everything up.
