00:00This film and its reputation are quite a story.
00:03Considered one of the worst superhero movies, it nevertheless starts with an interesting idea.
00:07Understanding the genesis of Wolverine.
00:10And quite frankly, looking back, it's not as horrible as you might think.
00:13It can be as fun as it is mediocre, but it remains fun in mediocrity.
00:17It's still fun to see how much fun we have watching a dud.
00:20From there to saying that it is one, there is only one step.
00:22The film starts off pretty well.
00:24The opening credits, where we see Wolverine and his brother going through the different wars of our history
00:28in a very fluid sequence shot, with a faithful reconstruction of each era,
00:32Well, frankly, it rocks.
00:34This is followed by the meeting with Stryker, the formation of a mutant commando,
00:37the first pretty cool action scene with a Deadpool who rocks by cutting balls with his sabers.
00:47No, by actually cutting the balls with his sabers.
00:50Yeah, that's it.
00:51Seriously, the beginning of the movie is more than okay.
00:54Things start to go wrong when Wolverine plays the role of Sunday lumberjack
00:58and he takes part in a rather messed up love affair,
01:00where you feel 10,000 times that the person is not there by chance.
01:03Besides, I still don't understand this obsession with wanting to make Wolverine a romantic character.
01:07In short, the next hour will remain in this somewhat shitty constant.
01:11Yet, there was something to do with, for example, Victor, a bit of a boogie man,
01:14who comes to kill one, his former partners,
01:16but it is not exploited.
01:17We have Cyclops and we still don't understand what he's doing here.
01:19Will I am in a cowboy hat and we still don't understand what he's doing there.
01:23Stryker's base, well, it's not Stryker's base anymore.
01:25Wolverine, he runs naked in the wild plains.
01:28He brakes with his claws and he slows down during an explosion.
01:31Then there's Gambit too, right, and Logan, he wants to catch him, so he does weird things.
01:35And once we have witnessed all these aberrations, there are two schools of thought.
01:39Either you stop the movie because it's too much,
01:40either you find it so stupid, well, that it becomes fascinating.
01:43And you want to see how far it goes, since it's entertaining in its stupidity
01:46and it has the merit of being taken on to the end.
01:48Then Hugh Jackman has real strength in himself.
01:51Well, there you go, eh, yes.
01:52The guy has never been so handsome and he exudes real likeability.
01:57The climax will justify all this mess by the fake death of Logan's girlfriend,
02:01Well, who put ketchup on herself to make it look like she's dead.
02:04And even he doesn't understand the story anymore and he leaves.
02:07Before, of course, returning for the fight and especially to face weapon 11,
02:11a certain Deadpool.
02:12And there, damn it, there, it's hot.
02:15We agree, this is colossal bullshit of excremental proportions.
02:19But as always, there is worse.
02:22Which is pretty crazy because when you see that at the time,
02:24we don't suspect for a single second that this character will be the most profitable of the entire saga,
02:28with two films released in 2016 and 2018,
02:31which are rather convincing,
02:33amusing in their vulgar and violent approach,
02:35but above all carried by a Reine Reynolds who is aware that his character has come a long way.
02:39The first Deadpool had the merit of bringing a breath of fresh air to the genre,
02:44to make the most of his character and make him evolve in a meta universe
02:47which may seem a little heavy, but which has its charm.
02:50That being said, returning to Origin Wolverine which doesn't have much to save.
02:55Personally, I have affection for the film.
02:57He's quite fascinating in the way he does everything he shouldn't do.
03:00Very poorly exploited characters,
03:02some pretty awful VFX,
03:04and rather chaotic management of action scenes.
03:06Now, let's be honest, he won't be able to help in different contexts.
03:11which will put obstacles in its way well before its release.
03:14The writers' strike is already being felt enormously.
03:16Ryan Reynolds even admitted that because of this, he wrote his own dialogue.
03:20because all he received on his script was
03:22"Scene 2, Deadpool talks to Wolverine."
03:25The film will also be pirated
03:27and will be available online 6 weeks before its release
03:29in an unfinished version and quite incredible to see for curiosity.
03:33This Wolverine-centric spin-off was supposed to be the first of many.
03:37The same thing was supposed to happen with Magneto.
03:40But given the film's disastrous response, the project was abandoned.
03:43Finally, rather reworked to make it a work that will succeed in the feat.
03:47to reinvent the saga by giving it a second wind.
