00:01A huge meteorite the size of Texas threatens to crash into Earth

00:04and rid it of its entire population.

00:07Only the United States can do something.

00:09Because it is well known that God only blesses the United States of America.

00:12The plan, a subtlety that would unravel a sheep, is to dig a hole in the center of the asteroid.

00:17and place a nuclear arsenal there to blow everything up.

00:20The problem is that American astronauts are obviously too stupid to learn how to drill, and time is running out.

00:25NASA will therefore call on the ultimate hole expert, Harry Stamper, aka Bruce Willis.

00:29But the latter is not going to risk putting the future of humanity in the hands of men highly trained to go into space, no.

00:35He prefers to call on his friends, a bunch of losers, meh, crazy and alcoholics, to save the human species from extinction.

00:42It makes no sense and it's bloody brilliant.

00:45Because beyond the script, Bay manages to inject a lot of energy into the film right from the start.

00:50Armageddon is subtlety at its lowest level.

00:52This is incoherence at its peak.

00:54These lines are as mediocre as they are cult.

00:56This is an exceptional cast.

00:57And it's this persistence that makes all the difference and allows the work to be strangely brilliant in its cheesy side.

01:05Because our dear Bruce Willis sacrifices himself and saves the world once again.

01:09A label that would stick to him for a long time, to the point that he would play the lead role in Apocalypse,
