00:00In this tutorial you learn how to cut 3D models in Bamboo Studio. Click on the
00:06model on the print bed. Then go to the cut tool. You can select different modes.
00:19Let's stick with planar first. To move the cut plane you can enter values manually.
00:27But you can also drag the plane itself to move and rotate it. The values will automatically change
00:36with it. Let's perform the cut with the keep orientation boxes checked. Now the model is
00:50split into two separate parts. The auto orient button will change them to the best print orientation
00:56automatically. Let's undo these two steps and go to the cut menu again. Now select the place
01:06on cut boxes. The face that is cut will be placed on the print bed. Let's perform the cut to see this.
01:15As you see this is not always the best print orientation. Let's undo this cut and go to the
01:26cut menu again. Rotate the plane a little by dragging the arrow. Now select the flip boxes and perform the
01:38cut cut. Each part will be placed upside down from the position it had when they were on top of each
01:47other. Click the undo arrow and go to the cut menu. Check both keep orientation boxes.
01:57Also check the cut to parts box and perform another cut. It may be hard to see but there is now a seam in
02:04the model. To make this clearer select the color painting tool. With the fill tool activated click
02:09on one part of the model. The selected color stops at the seam. Let's undo this and go to the cut menu
02:16again. Now select dovetail in the mode menu. Here you can see the dovetail clearly. You can also change its
02:30size. Change depth width and angles exactly as you want. When finished click on perform cut. And there
02:41they are. Let's change orientation with the auto orient button. Dovetails can be used as a high
02:48strength joint to connect your 3d printed parts. You might also want to check out my 3d design channel.
02:54See you there.
