00:00I think the odds of winning got better now that somebody gave a power glove to a primate.
00:04Here's your look at the Hiatoys.
00:05This is Godzilla X Kong, The New Empire, Exquisite Basic, Kong.
00:22From Godzilla X Kong, The New Empire, Hiatoys introduces the Beast Glove version of Kong,
00:26capturing the awe-inspiring presence of the Great Ape as he confronts a formidable new threat.
00:31Standing at 6.2 inches tall, the highly detailed figure is crafted using original CG data,
00:36with multi-layered paint applications that bring the rugged fur, fierce eyes, and battle-worn chest to life.
00:43The Beast Glove itself features a distressed multi-layer finish, adding to its power and authenticity.
00:48I don't know if I'd want to be on the receiving end of a knuckle sandwich from this native ape.
00:52Still, though, we're going to push forward and take the tape measure and see how tall the figure stands.
00:55I guess before, though, we do that, I'd like to back it just a bit and thank the folks over at Hiatoys
01:00that were kind enough to provide this sample of the Godzilla X Kong, The New Empire, Beast Glove Kong,
01:05that we could have a look at in this review.
01:07This figure, by the way, is slated to drop this month, in fact, September 2025.
01:11The asking price online? About $51.
01:14He's going to be selling for $50.99.
01:16A little less than, obviously, a penny short of being $51.
01:20We're also going to be bringing in some other examples of Kong in a second.
01:23But back to the basics. And the basics tells us that the figure's going to stand at 6 inches in height,
01:28working out to be a figure that's 15 centimeters tall.
01:30Most recently, we had the chance to have a look at the exquisite basic Godzilla X Kong, The New Empire, King Kong.
01:35And if you look at this far enough away, you would swear, though, that they are the exact same figure.
01:40And you'd be right for the most part.
01:42Clearly, though, Hiato would have had to spend some new budget to tool a brand new arm that has the Beast Glove on the end of it.
01:47But if you look even closer, though, there are a few actual notable changes that are on the new Kong that weren't on the original.
01:54More fur changes, textural changes. We'll talk about that more in a moment.
01:58Going, though, back to the basics, even before that, we also had a chance to look at the Godzilla vs. Kong.
02:02This was King Kong.
02:03He was also a little bit smaller in size when, of course, we visited Skull Island.
02:07And if we're going to still be talking about Godzilla X Kong, The New Empire,
02:10we have to, of course, bring in the King of the Monsters himself.
02:12Here's what they look like with Godzilla.
02:14He finds himself becoming very handy with a little bit of augmentation on his arm.
02:18And with that arm, though, the figure does also have some hand options available as well.
02:21On the ends of his arm right now, the figure does have a closed fist.
02:25In fact, he actually has it on this side as well.
02:27If you'd like to change that out, though, the figure does also come include with a C-shaped gripping hand.
02:32Although he doesn't really actually have any other accessory to hold.
02:35So the fact that it's there kind of seems, in fact, more null and void because it just doesn't actually serve a purpose to hold anything.
02:41I suppose you probably could go back to your tickle trunk and pull one of the accessories we've gotten with a previous Kong.
02:46Or just find your own and find a way to kind of skewer it through the opening here.
02:50The figure does also come include with his knuckle-dragging hand.
02:53So you can get Kong in that same pose that we looked at when we looked at the original exquisite basic release of him.
02:58And then he also comes include with a dynamic hand.
03:01All, of course, more beneficial to be displayed on this side of the figure's body.
03:04I wouldn't really recommend it putting over here.
03:06If you'd like to have hands over here, though, the figure does also come include with, again, a gripping hand.
03:10A knuckle-dragging hand.
03:12And he also comes, again, included with a dynamic hand.
03:15Swapping out the hands aren't difficult at all to do.
03:18In fact, we can go ahead and pick the figure up right now.
03:20I'm going to swap it only on this side because we want to talk a little bit more time.
03:23Spend some more time talking about his other arm.
03:25We're going to just pop the hand off from the peg.
03:27Take a self.
03:28Which hand do we want to use?
03:29Let's give him the dynamic hand.
03:31And we'll just pop it on the peg.
03:33Removing the hands aren't so hard to do.
03:36Putting on the hands can be a little more trickier.
03:38Make sure it's all the way on the peg.
03:39Now, if you're having any difficult time, truth be told, truth be told,
03:42I didn't actually use this hand when I was playing around with the figure before.
03:46So I may have actually just taken my own advice and heat the hand first in hot water.
03:51Let's see if we can get it all the way on there.
03:53Do we have it?
03:54I think we have it.
03:55Okay, good.
03:57As for this hand, where I've spent more time on,
03:59the figure does also clearly have much more of a mechanical arm on this side.
04:03The colors match pretty close to the way they appear in the film.
04:06I do like that they've added a little bit of scuffing to this so it doesn't look brand new.
04:09There's pistons.
04:10There's pulleys.
04:11There's all levers that allow Kong to move his arm and sway it around.
04:15It's kind of cool, though, if you look at the flaps on these.
04:17These can actually hinge outward as well.
04:20You may want to tread carefully, cautiously, to open these all up.
04:23Don't swing them out so quickly.
04:25For, of course, they're only sitting on hinges anyways.
04:27You can see that there's some additional circuitry all inside the arm.
04:31Really nice painted work there as well.
04:33And one other thing that's kind of cool about Kong's arm
04:35is there's this little flap right here that pops out,
04:38sort of serving as a battering ram.
04:40The one thing, though, I will say is I had a real hard time getting this to move,
04:44getting it to budge the first time I took the figure out of his plastic prison.
04:48I found, in fact, it was actually easier to take the hand off first
04:50and then kind of wiggle it back and forth.
04:52But it does actually extend out.
04:55So, again, you can kind of get a cool-looking look going for Kong.
04:59Just with these flaps being out like this,
05:01just be careful not to put hands against this
05:02because you don't want to buckle and snap these.
05:05But these, again, just kind of fold in place like that.
05:07And, again, you can just swap out the hand.
05:09So, again, we'll just kind of pop this off the peg.
05:12Just be careful of this, though.
05:13You want to make sure it's fully pushed in before you start pulling things out.
05:16So you just want to remove that.
05:18Take, again, the hand that we want to use
05:19and plug it in place.
05:22Now, again, if you're having a hard time doing this,
05:24which, again, I probably should have heated this.
05:26This hand, I actually already had heated.
05:28But with the time of me yammering on,
05:30I'm sure it has some now time to cool.
05:32All in all, though, I just really like the look of that arm.
05:35Now, of course, we will be bringing back in the original King Kong in a second
05:38so you guys can see, really,
05:39is there much difference, really, between the two figures?
05:41Before I do that, though,
05:42I want to talk a little bit about one thing that stays the same with this figure.
05:45It's not just, though, his body.
05:48Standing issue also is still an issue.
05:49But the fact that the figure does also come in clue with some swappable heads.
05:53Now, these are fine and good.
05:55The only one drawback to that, though,
05:57is if we bring back in the original heads,
05:58they seem to be exactly the same.
06:02Being that they're also exactly the same,
06:04being that they're also going on what I would imagine
06:05be the exact same body and ball joints,
06:08you would then be able to use one head with the other.
06:10So, again, you would just be able to mix and match that.
06:13It sort of then buys, then, the idea.
06:15If the budget was already kind of assigned to make the tooling
06:17when they first made this King Kong,
06:20they have already saved a little bit of the money right there.
06:22They've only now really needed to remold a new arm
06:25on this side of the figure's body.
06:26I really wish, though,
06:28that they could have saw this opportunity as a chance
06:30to give us different head sculpts, too.
06:32So that it's not just the sneering face.
06:34It's not just the growling face.
06:36Because, again, like the growling face,
06:37if you look at this one and you look at the original one,
06:39again, exactly the same.
06:41How cool would it have been instead
06:43had they given us maybe another two different various expressions?
06:47So, again, if you didn't want to use it on this King Kong,
06:49you could also board it over and use it on this figure, too.
06:52I like the head sculpts.
06:53Don't get me wrong.
06:54This one also does have the replaced tooth.
06:56But just by having them so identical to one another,
06:59likelihood, if you're a collector of Hyatt toys
07:00and love the brand like I do,
07:02you already probably have that Kong.
07:03So you're only just double dipping
07:05and seeing the exact same head sculpts again.
07:08Changing out the head, by the way,
07:10we can go ahead and pick the figure up,
07:12pop the head off,
07:13which, again, is this neutral expression Kong,
07:15which is such a great-looking head sculpt.
07:18It's one thing, though,
07:18I really did praise a lot
07:20when we looked at the original King Kong.
07:21The fact that the eyes look as lifelike as they do,
07:24they sort of look like they're made of glass.
07:27Now, the heads, though, again,
07:28we can go ahead and take the head
07:29and just pop it off the peg.
07:31Take the head that we want to use
07:32and just pop the new head in place.
07:36And, again, that just snaps onto the ball joint.
07:38A little bit of pressure,
07:39a little bit of pressure provided on your part.
07:42But, again, now you can have
07:42two different ways of displaying Kong.
07:44I like more the neutral,
07:46just, like, gentler-looking Kong,
07:48if I can say gentler,
07:49describing a Kong of this size.
07:51And we'd like to have a little bit more
07:53of a ticked-off Kong
07:54when it comes to having him
07:55with a power glove like this.
07:57The figure, though, as a whole,
07:58is exactly, for the most part,
07:59the same as the original.
08:01And I'm going to show you guys now.
08:02I mean, like, if you're looking at the arms,
08:03the torso, the legs,
08:05are all somewhat similar.
08:06But I did say, though,
08:08that there are a few changes.
08:09And here, again, I'll kind of show you guys.
08:11You probably can see the changes
08:12mostly the most,
08:13mostly the most,
08:14when it comes to the tops
08:15of his shoulder pads.
08:16The shoulder fur that he has here
08:18is a little bit more combed down.
08:20You can see, though, in here,
08:22there's a little bit more layers
08:23to the fur.
08:24It's not simply just the fact
08:25that they painted it differently, either.
08:27It does look like there's
08:27a little bit more texturing
08:28that went into this Kong
08:29that wasn't, again, on the original.
08:32The arms seem like they're the same.
08:34So does, as well,
08:34the triceps,
08:35the back of his body.
08:36His monkey behind
08:37also appears to be identical, too.
08:39So there are, again,
08:40only a few,
08:41just a few changes
08:42that they've made
08:43from one to the other,
08:44keeping mostly, again,
08:45the body exactly the same.
08:47Being that the body is the same,
08:48the posability on this figure
08:50will also remain the same as well.
08:52King Kong's head, for example,
08:53is going to be on a ball joint,
08:54so it allows the head
08:55to rotate all the way around.
08:56The head can look up
08:57and down
08:58and move back and forth as well.
09:00I love the flexibility,
09:02the possibilities
09:03this guy has
09:03with this posability.
09:05You can just move
09:05his head back and forth.
09:07His chin, by the way,
09:08does make it,
09:09does feel like it's
09:10a little bit more
09:10of a softer plastic.
09:11Not super soft like rubber,
09:13but there's a little bit
09:14of give to it.
09:15But, again,
09:16look how much you can actually do
09:17with King Kong's head.
09:18You could do that
09:19with the original as well.
09:20The top of the torso
09:21is going to be on a ball joint,
09:22so you can move it up and down,
09:23back and forth,
09:24rocking it back and forth,
09:25and you can twist it
09:26back and forth, too.
09:27But, meaning in the middle,
09:29the figure does also have
09:30the same.
09:30So you can move this
09:31all the way around
09:31with the ball joint there,
09:33down and up as well,
09:34and rocking it back and forth.
09:36The arms do rotate
09:36all the way around.
09:38Now, this is, again,
09:38one thing that really
09:39was drastically changed
09:40between this one
09:41and the original King Kong.
09:43Where did I put
09:43the original King Kong?
09:45Oh, I put it right over here.
09:46Just reaching down
09:47for a second here
09:48and just going to bring,
09:49going to lay this guy
09:49down here for a second.
09:50One of the biggest issues
09:51really facing the original Kong
09:52was the fact that
09:53he couldn't do much
09:53really with his arms.
09:55The arms sure fanned out,
09:56giving us a T pose,
09:58but you couldn't get them
09:58any really further
09:59than they are right now.
10:01This new Kong clearly
10:02is able to do
10:02a lot more than that.
10:03He can actually bring
10:04his arms a little bit
10:05more flush to his body.
10:06You can fully rotate them
10:07all the way around.
10:08And, again,
10:08you can also have him
10:09dragging his knuckles.
10:10It's just, again,
10:11a case of bringing
10:11his arms down,
10:12bringing his legs forward,
10:13and Kong, in fact,
10:14can drag his knuckles.
10:16There's a bicep,
10:17well, I should say,
10:18there's a shoulder swivel
10:19back and forth.
10:20There is also, as well,
10:21a bicep swivel.
10:22And in that bicep,
10:23the figure does also
10:23have a double hinge
10:24in his elbow.
10:25There's one right here,
10:27and there's one right here.
10:29The figure does also
10:29have a hand that rotates
10:30all the way around
10:31on the bicep
10:32or on the ball joint,
10:33providing, again,
10:34you get your hand
10:34all the way on there.
10:35The hand rotates
10:36all the way around.
10:37And what's kind of cool,
10:38though, is that it rotates
10:39not only just in the wrist,
10:41well, we already know
10:41the fact that it moves
10:42at the ball joint,
10:43but it also has
10:44a wrist articulation as well,
10:46so you can move
10:46that back and forth.
10:47The original Kong
10:48also had that, too,
10:49so that's not something
10:50that's been now
10:50introduced to this figure.
10:51Uh, this Power Glove arm
10:54does the exact same thing,
10:55so the Beast Glove
10:56does rotate here
10:56at the bicep.
10:58It is a little bit
10:58more stopping here
11:00when it comes to really
11:00what you can do down here,
11:01so again, you can't
11:02really rotate it as much.
11:04You can kind of see
11:05the way that when
11:05you move his arms,
11:07little pulleys
11:07and mechanisms
11:08move as well,
11:09but you can't really
11:10move it to the degree
11:11that you can do
11:12with this side
11:13of the figure's body
11:13because it just doesn't
11:14have the means to do that.
11:16You can still, though,
11:17bend the elbow
11:17back and forth.
11:18It doesn't have really
11:19like a double hinge
11:20that this side does have.
11:21Again, the hands do
11:22rotate all the way around.
11:23I just, I don't think
11:24I have them all the way
11:25on the ball joint.
11:26Let's get that
11:27all the way on there.
11:31Ah, there we go.
11:32You know what?
11:32We're going to go back
11:33to the, we're going to
11:34go back to the close fist.
11:35We'll kind of fix up shop
11:36before we actually
11:37jump to the turntable,
11:38but I think for right now
11:39at least, let's get
11:40the hand properly in place
11:42so we can move forward
11:43with the rest of this review.
11:45Again, this hand is,
11:46it's the, it's the fact
11:47that just really the ball joints
11:48are so large
11:49and the ball socket holes
11:50are so much smaller.
11:53Are they all the way on there?
11:55We'll have to maybe
11:55come back to that
11:56in a second.
11:57Yeah, we'll come back
11:58to it in a second.
11:59For his legs, though,
12:00they do split out.
12:01Now there are,
12:02there's a ball joint here
12:03and a ball joint here.
12:04The legs can do a split
12:05about that far.
12:06You can move the legs forward.
12:07You can also move them back.
12:09There's a swivel
12:09at the top of the thigh.
12:10There's also a swivel
12:11mid thigh too.
12:13Double hinge on the knee.
12:15There's a rotation
12:15down below here as well.
12:16An ankle pivot up and down
12:18and an ankle rocker as well.
12:21Now, minus, of course,
12:23the fact that the figure
12:24is missing his hand right now.
12:25There is one other issue
12:26that really does face this figure
12:27and it's again
12:28his ability to stand.
12:30I had this issue before
12:30when we looked at this Kong.
12:32If you look at his feet,
12:33his feet aren't completely flat.
12:35They spent just as much time
12:37to texture and sculpt
12:38the bottoms of his pads
12:39so that, unfortunately,
12:40because of that,
12:41he doesn't have
12:41a completely flat footing.
12:43So with this Kong,
12:44I feel like I always
12:44kind of have to lean him forward.
12:46If you try to have him upright,
12:48he just can't seem
12:49to balance himself.
12:50So you may always
12:51have to have him
12:51unfortunately lunged forward
12:53to get him to properly
12:54stand in place.
12:56In the end, though,
12:56obviously,
12:57there's a lot of this guy
12:58that went into this guy here.
13:00It's just a case that,
13:01again,
13:01it makes sense too.
13:02If the size of Kong
13:03and the design of Kong
13:04is right in the first place,
13:06there's no real need
13:06to redesign him
13:07from the ground up
13:08when it comes to
13:08redesigning the figure here.
13:10It's just a case of now
13:11adding on
13:12the augmented beast arm,
13:13which I think looks
13:14really cool in the figure.
13:15Just, again,
13:15overlook the fact
13:16we don't have the hand
13:16on there right now.
13:18The head sculpts,
13:19which, again,
13:19are the only one other thing
13:20that's a bit disappointing
13:21about the figure,
13:22just that with the budget
13:23already being dedicated,
13:25they spent so much of it
13:26on this figure
13:27because they had to do it
13:27for the first time around.
13:29Being that this is now
13:30the second time around
13:31that we're getting the figure
13:32in this release,
13:33I would think with the budget
13:34that would have been saved,
13:35they could have maybe given us
13:36two brand new head sculpts,
13:38giving us a double dip
13:39of the exact same heads,
13:40good or bad.
13:41I mean,
13:41these are great looking
13:42head sculpts.
13:43Again,
13:44there was,
13:45let me just bring in
13:45the third one in here
13:46because now,
13:47again,
13:47I swapped out all three heads.
13:48You get three fantastic,
13:50and again,
13:50I can't stress this enough,
13:52fantastic portraits on Kong.
13:54But with the fact
13:55that we now have a figure
13:56that's doing the same
13:57as the other one did before,
13:58I would have loved
13:59an opportunity
14:00to give us
14:00two brand new head sculpts
14:02that we never had seen before.
14:03That way,
14:04then,
14:04you could use the one
14:05for the Beast Glove Kong,
14:07you could use the two for that,
14:08or again,
14:09you can just share around
14:09the duties.
14:10Seeing the same way
14:11that this guy shared
14:11his body for this,
14:12you could share the head sculpts
14:13that came in with this figure
14:14with this one as well.
14:16Oh,
14:16is Kong hurt?
14:17Actually,
14:18no.
14:18The point of the pose
14:19is to show you that
14:19what he can do
14:20on one side of his body,
14:21he can't really effectively
14:22do on the other.
14:23With having a double hinge
14:24in his elbow
14:25that the other Kong
14:26could do on both sides,
14:27you could easily have
14:28the figure pounding
14:28off his chest.
14:29With unfortunately,
14:30though,
14:30his arm being in
14:31a mechanical sling like this,
14:33you can't quite fully
14:34get that same pose going.
14:36So while there is
14:36a bend in his elbow,
14:38it's not to the degree
14:39of what he can do
14:39on these other arm.
14:41Now,
14:41I do love the look
14:42of this Kong quite a bit.
14:43I still call it now.
14:45I think the next
14:45Godzilla X Kong movie
14:47that we're going to be getting,
14:47it's probably not
14:48going to be called
14:48Godzilla X Kong,
14:49it's going to be
14:49called something else.
14:51I think it's,
14:51I'm going to call it now,
14:52I think that Kong
14:53is going to have
14:53a voice box.
14:54He's going to have
14:55limited speech,
14:56yes,
14:56but I think he's going
14:57to be able to utter up
14:58phrases,
14:59and that's going to be
15:00the thing that is going
15:01to get the audience cheering.
15:03Kong is going to get
15:03his beat down,
15:04and then of course
15:04as Godzilla's getting his,
15:06Kong's going to stand up
15:07for a second and say,
15:09my friend,
15:10and clobber
15:11whatever big baddie
15:12they're fighting in the movie.
15:13Calling it now,
15:14Kong's going to have
15:15a voice box.
15:16Back though to this Kong,
15:17who only unfortunately
15:18has his mechanical arm.
15:19I like the look
15:20of the arm quite a bit.
15:21I like that the flaps
15:22do open on the sides
15:23like they do in the movie.
15:24The little ram
15:25that he has that slides
15:26up the front,
15:26you really got to be
15:27careful of though.
15:28Make sure it's all
15:29the way in there
15:30before you go to the side
15:31to change the hands,
15:32putting just a little bit
15:33of pressure against that
15:34I would imagine
15:34would not only buckle it,
15:36but snap the plastic.
15:37So just tread cautiously
15:38for that.
15:39As for though,
15:40the rest of the figure,
15:40yeah, it is pretty much
15:41the same Kong as before.
15:43Has some stability issues too
15:44with unfortunately
15:45his feet not being
15:46completely flat.
15:47While unfortunately though
15:48the other Kong
15:48had very, very limitations,
15:50the one from Godzilla
15:51versus Kong
15:52had limitations
15:52when it came to
15:53what he could do
15:53with his arms,
15:54he seemed to stand
15:55a lot better
15:56because his feet
15:56were a little flatter.
15:57I do wish though
15:58that that was the only thing
15:59that they could have done
16:00differently for these
16:01new Kongs,
16:02have them with flat feet.
16:03It's nice to have
16:04the feet look as good
16:05as they do,
16:05as realistic as they do
16:07for as big of an ape
16:07as he is.
16:08But I think though
16:09it comes at the price
16:10unfortunately having
16:10the figure standing right.
16:12What do you guys though
16:13think of Godzilla,
16:14or Godzilla,
16:15King Kong
16:15from the new Godzilla
16:17X-Kong,
16:18the new Empire
16:18with his Beast Glove.
16:20Is this an instant pickup
16:21or are you just happy
16:22with the Kong
16:23that we've already
16:23gotten from Haya?
16:25Speaking of which though,
16:26this guy is slated
16:26to drop again September,
16:28September,
16:28this month,
16:292025.

16:45How many times
16:45have I now said that?
