Street Cops Catching the Yobs S01E04 (Sep 24 2025)
Transcript
00:01You're gonna push me, mate.
00:02Fed up of feral teens.
00:04What are you doing, mate?
00:05Cheesed off with the town louts.
00:08Or driven mad by the druggie deadbeats.
00:11I've got drugs on me.
00:12Twenty raps.
00:13Well, fear no more.
00:15You are under arrest.
00:17Here's the answer to your prayers.
00:22If you're causing criminality in this town, we will come after you.
00:26Meet the coppers leading the fight back.
00:30Taking back your neighborhood.
00:33You are under arrest.
00:34Suspicion of possession and attention.
00:36Cleaning up our streets.
00:38You've tested my patience.
00:39We are at the forefront of policing.
00:41Move back!
00:42We're frontline.
00:43Day in, day out.
00:45Stay off!
00:46Stop!
00:49Street cops.
00:50Catching the yacht.
00:52No!
00:53Ah!
00:58This time.
00:59Look at that one there.
01:00Right in front.
01:01The cops drop in.
01:04Preach!
01:05On some naughty neighbors.
01:07You're under arrest.
01:08Spot strange goings on in Wellingborough.
01:11You should see me with the sword if I'm hungry.
01:13I'm hungry.
01:14And a bid for freedom.
01:17Stay there.
01:18Leads to an eye-watering arrest.
01:20Put your hands behind your back.
01:26These days, criminals are more shameless than ever.
01:29You're leaving, otherwise you're going in the police car.
01:33They're doing their business right under our noses.
01:38I grew up in a small town and then I went out to Birmingham when I was 19.
01:42There was a small area in Birmingham where gangs kind of run it.
01:45Now, if I fast forward 20 odd years, I feel there's more crime in Northampton
01:50and that's only the bits that you can see.
01:52I worry about the drug dealing that goes around near us.
01:57The gangs that hang around the streets looking for trouble.
02:00It's my country and I love my country, but it is in a mess.
02:04And it's very, very violent and very scary.
02:07As a neighborhood sergeant for a community, I don't like having issues.
02:12In the same way the community don't like having issues.
02:15Organized crime groups who want to set up shop in my little shoe-making town.
02:21I'd like to try and tackle it head on.
02:282pm, Wellenborough.
02:30Cops got a tip-off about a gang setting up shop in a house
02:34and growing mountains of gear.
02:36We've got Section 23, Mutual Strokes Act, Barron's.
02:41Sergeant Curtis heads the briefing.
02:43So, summary of intelligence.
02:45I'm investigating the offence of production of cannabis
02:47in a residential semi-detached property.
02:49They're situated in an urban housing estate.
02:51The community have identified drugs and drug harm
02:54as being the crime type that most impacts their community.
02:56Checks have been completed.
02:58Shows a Mr. and Mrs. Smith with no dates of births listed,
03:03which suggests these are alias names or false names.
03:06It's going to be a bad day for the Smiths.
03:10So we look to leave in about 5-10 minutes.
03:13If this local gaff is a weed plantation,
03:22this gang could be up to all sorts of other nasty stuff
03:26when Curtis and his crew come knocking.
03:32So he's kitting up with a heavy-duty helmet,
03:35cut-resistant gloves, limb defenders.
03:39And that beauty.
03:41What's known in the trade as the Big Red Key.
03:45We're just moving up,
03:46so you're hitting your dress whenever you're ready.
03:48Two and a half stone of hardened steel.
03:52Containment on.
03:53Plus an expert hand.
03:56Yeah, hit, mate.
04:04Breach!
04:05Please!
04:06Knock, knock.
04:07It's the cops.
04:14You're under arrest
04:16on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis.
04:18You don't have to say anything,
04:19but it may harm you to fed.
04:20Student, I mentioned,
04:21when questioned,
04:22some of which you later are in court.
04:23Anything you do say,
04:24maybe get an evidence.
04:25Anyone else in here with you?
04:26There's only one fella at home,
04:27and he's no Mrs Smith.
04:29He doesn't speak English,
04:30but he knows the word for jacket.
04:32You'll need that, mate.
04:34You're off to the Knicks, son.
04:37See if there's anything in there?
04:39I think he's just potting up.
04:41Straight away,
04:42it's obvious what used to be your average family home
04:47has been converted into a suburban crime den.
04:50But what else have the gang been up to
04:52in this standard little semi?
04:54Clearly, they're setting up the cannabis factory.
04:58So we've got the power supply here.
05:01At the moment,
05:02you can see our pool here.
05:04We've got all the wires.
05:05Potentially,
05:06they've gone into the national grid.
05:08And if that's the case,
05:09we'll have to get them to come out
05:10to make the property safe.
05:12Dodgy bypassed electrics
05:14could send the whole street up in flames.
05:17And that isn't the only danger
05:21that comes with having lovely neighbours
05:23like these boys.
05:27We always find hitting implements
05:29at cannabis factories.
05:31With the majority of cannabis farms,
05:34not only are they targets for the police,
05:36but they're targets for rival gangs.
05:38And as a result,
05:40the farmers that are left within the properties
05:42will look to defend themselves
05:44and the plants that are within
05:46from external sources,
05:49whether that's the police
05:50or a rival gang,
05:51who will quite happily come
05:52and put all the windows through
05:53and raid it
05:54and steal the plants from them.
05:57Not the sort of stash
05:59you want to find around your neighbours.
06:02But there's a problem.
06:05We, at the moment,
06:06don't have an offence
06:07for cannabis cultivation
06:09because there's no cannabis here.
06:11The weapons and the electrics
06:13will only get the crims
06:14a slap on the wrist.
06:19Cops will need to find
06:20a working weed farm
06:22for the big charges.
06:29Coming up...
06:30Police officer.
06:31Cops turn number one
06:32cannabis crescent upside down.
06:35Officer Taser,
06:36make yourself known.
06:37And...
06:38Later.
06:40A parved bloke
06:41might have something else
06:42to cry about.
06:4420 raps.
06:4520 raps.
06:55It is said Cry never sleeps.
06:58Rounding up career criminals
07:00is a full-time job too.
07:02As almost a thousand calls
07:04come into Northamptonshire's
07:05control room every day.
07:07I think some people have lost
07:10the will to try
07:12to get back into
07:15what we would consider
07:17normal society.
07:18To be rehabilitated
07:19to a point where
07:20we take a job.
07:22I think some people
07:23have just found
07:24that that becomes
07:25a way of life for them.
07:26Their almost automatic
07:29actions on release
07:31from prison
07:32are to re-offend.
07:33Everyone deserves
07:34a second chance.
07:35I'm a firm believer in that.
07:37But if they're a career criminal,
07:39I'm sorry,
07:40then I'd lock them up
07:41and throw away the key.
07:42They do not deserve
07:43to be out in public
07:44if that's what they keep doing.
07:46Have no fear.
07:48Anyone on the wrong side
07:49of the law
07:50will be hunted.
07:51Nobody wants to get caught.
07:53Sometimes they comply,
07:54Carmen comply.
07:55Sometimes they're not.
07:57It's like cat and mouse,
07:58isn't it?
07:59We have skilled officers,
08:00we have skilled people
08:02within the county
08:04that we can stop you
08:07if you're causing
08:08any criminalities.
08:09And do not think
08:11for one second
08:12that you're going
08:13to get away from us.
08:16Street cops PC Miles
08:20and co-pilot PC Alex
08:25are joining a manhunt
08:27for a suspected bad lad
08:29following a fresh sighting
08:31of his motor.
08:32The vehicle actually
08:34originates from
08:35out of county,
08:36but we've had information
08:37to suggest the vehicle
08:38and the owner
08:39are on us currently,
08:41namely in desperate.
08:43We're just going
08:44to head to that location
08:45now,
08:46see if we can apprehend
08:47the suspect.
08:48As if we do find
08:49that it's very likely
08:50that he is
08:51carrying drugs.
08:52They are on quarry float.
08:56Patrol just coming up to
09:00near Earl Street's
09:01industrial,
09:02we won't be too long.
09:03The driver and his motor
09:07have been stopped,
09:08but his passenger
09:09has legged it.
09:15He's got a copper in tow,
09:17but he's busting some moves
09:18to try and escape.
09:20He's on the floor.
09:21He's on the floor.
09:22He's on the floor.
09:23He's on the floor.
09:24He's on the floor.
09:25He's on the floor.
09:26Twinkle Toes
09:27is taken down.
09:28You're being
09:30in time for a search.
09:31Roll over to your
09:32left hand side,
09:33on the floor.
09:34Hand your back,
09:35give it now.
09:36The lone cop
09:37needs to get
09:38this fella cuffed
09:39fast.
09:40Get on the floor.
09:42But the big guy's
09:43fighting back
09:44and on his dancers
09:45again.
10:04On the floor.
10:07The bloke could be
10:08armed and he's refusing
10:09to play by the
10:10the book.
10:13Standby.
10:19Put your hands behind
10:20your back.
10:21Have a dose of that.
10:22Give me a hand.
10:23An eye-watering
10:24bout of parva.
10:25A chemical irritant
10:27brings this lad
10:28into line.
10:29Nails in cuffs.
10:31Right, you'll be
10:32detained for a search.
10:34The driver made
10:35the wise decision
10:36to stay in the car.
10:38Okay, so I just need
10:39to stand still.
10:40step back a little bit.
10:43This spray stings
10:44for about half an
10:45hour.
10:47Watch your head.
10:48Come.
10:50Come on.
10:51Come.
10:52Let's go.
10:53Come on, you can walk.
10:54Come on man.
10:55Right.
10:56Right.
10:57Yeah.
11:00Although it's this
11:01chap's lucky day
11:02as he's been treated
11:03to an eye bath
11:04from the street cops.
11:07You'll make your eyes
11:08feel better.
11:09Better.
11:10To add to his pain,
11:11officers have been doing
11:13a little digging along his
11:14escape route.
11:15Yeah, Brad.
11:16At the moment,
11:1720 wraps.
11:18About 20 wraps.
11:19About 20 wraps.
11:20Yeah, this is where his
11:21bag and that his thing was.
11:22It's possible class A's.
11:23Now both detain fellas are
11:24going to feel a sting.
11:25Right, buddy.
11:261508.
11:27You're under arrest.
11:28Submission of possession
11:29of intense supply class A drugs.
11:30Okay, I'm failing to stop.
11:31Enough drugs to take the two
11:32of them down to custody.
11:33Which way?
11:34Step.
11:35Step.
11:36Step.
11:37Mind your head.
11:38Mind your head.
11:39Mind your head.
11:40Mind your head.
11:41Go forward.
11:42Slowly, slowly, slowly.
11:43Yeah, this is where his bag
11:44is going to feel a sting.
11:45Yeah, this is where his bag
11:46and that his thing was.
11:47It's possible class A's.
11:48Now both detain fellas
11:49are going to feel a sting.
11:50Right, buddy.
11:511508.
11:52You're under arrest.
11:53Submission of possession
11:54of intense supply class A drugs.
11:55Okay, I'm failing to stop.
11:56Enough drugs to take the two
11:57of them down to custody.
11:58Which way?
11:59Step.
12:00Step.
12:01Step.
12:02Slowly, slowly, slowly.
12:03Put your leg in.
12:04Put your leg in.
12:05Mate.
12:06Come on, mate.
12:07You want to sit up on the
12:08side?
12:09You want to sit up on the
12:10seat?
12:11Bye, mate.
12:12Okay.
12:14Right, do you want to
12:15jump in the van?
12:16Yeah.
12:17And then lean in the
12:18barrel and torque.
12:25All aboard for the
12:27Kettering cells.
12:29We've taken our vehicle off
12:30the road that is used to ferry
12:31these people about.
12:32We've got a phone which we
12:34believe is the drug-line phone
12:35as well as a personal
12:36mobile.
12:37Twenty wraps of suspected
12:38class A and some cash.
12:40He doesn't actually live
12:41within our county, but they're
12:42coming to our county to do
12:43their work.
12:44But our boys are only just
12:45getting started.
12:46They want to find out if the
12:47two fellows have anything
12:48else to hide.
12:49Ultimately now we need to get a
12:52section 18 authorised by an
12:54inspector.
12:55That's a search on the premise
12:56or their addresses that we can
12:57look and see if there's any
12:58items that relate to that
12:59offence.
13:00So we'll go and do that now.
13:01And then we can go from there.
13:02Street cops in Wellingborough have
13:18busted a crime gang, going
13:20industrial amounts of gear on a
13:22residential street.
13:23Great!
13:24Police!
13:25Police!
13:26Police!
13:27I think he's just potting up.
13:28You can see all the wires.
13:29Pissing implements.
13:30But there's one absolutely
13:31massive problem.
13:32They can't find any green.
13:33We now have a lot of suspicion
13:35what's going on.
13:36So we need to check the loft
13:37and go from there really.
13:38Good job the Grim's left their
13:40ladder.
13:41Police officer!
13:46Police!
13:59Police officer!
14:00Police!
14:02Police!
14:03Police!
14:05Police!
14:06Police!
14:07Police!
14:08There's nothing there.
14:10Not a plant in sight.
14:13So why the next level security?
14:16What they've done here is they're attempting to reinforce it,
14:19so this would be shut,
14:20and it would be very, very hard to knock this door down.
14:24It's all good intel, but without any actual drugs,
14:28the suspect could be home in time for tea.
14:33There's just one last place left to search,
14:35a windowless garden shed.
14:44Linda, can I borrow your torch again?
14:52Bingo.
14:53It's like an Aladdin's cave if Aladdin was a pothead.
14:58So as you can see here,
14:59they've converted the shed into a cannabis grow,
15:02and then in here, I imagine there'll be saplings.
15:05And they'll go through their stages of growth.
15:09This will be their next stage, then the next stage,
15:12and then within the house,
15:14they probably would have got to the final stage.
15:16So yeah, we now have a confirmed cannabis factory in the house.
15:22It's a decent amount, enough for a conviction,
15:25and Aladdin's shed keeps on giving.
15:27Oh, got another room here.
15:32So as you can see here,
15:34there's larger plants.
15:36A face-off with a spooked criminal gardener might not end well,
15:40so Curtis treads carefully.
15:43Officer with taser, make yourself known.
15:47Make yourself known.
15:47These are more mature plants in here.
16:00They've probably got a little more growth left,
16:02but there's at least probably about 50, 60 plants in this room alone.
16:07Each plant has a street value of around six grand.
16:13The cops have stopped over 300,000 pounds worth of drugs from hitting the market.
16:19This is a really good result.
16:20We've prevented them before the harvest,
16:22so there's a room within that shed
16:25that the cannabis is pretty much ready to be harvested.
16:27Maybe another couple of weeks, and it would be fully grown.
16:30It looks like the plan was to start the plants in the shed,
16:34then finish them in the house.
16:37A house that's been bodged into a drug farm fortress,
16:41hidden in suburbia.
16:44We now have the suspect in custody.
16:47We've got the cannabis seized,
16:48and we can prevent this criminality happening
16:50in this house and protecting the community.
16:53I think some people have the perception
16:54it doesn't happen in my area.
16:56It happens in all areas.
16:58I've seen it in flats.
16:58I've seen it in big, detached houses,
17:02rural villages, even farms.
17:04It happens everywhere,
17:06and it just puts everyone at risk.
17:08We don't want it in our community,
17:09and conducting wars like this
17:11just hopefully eradicates it from our community.
17:21Switch on the news,
17:22and you'll see nothing but mindless thugs having a barney.
17:26I think there's more vanity,
17:27and you'll see youths fighting,
17:30and out come the knives.
17:32Knife crime has especially worsened,
17:35that there seems to be, you know,
17:38very little in people's minds
17:40to stop them from plunging a knife
17:41into somebody's ribcage.
17:43Knives are everywhere.
17:45People are carrying them for protection.
17:46People are carrying them to feud with other gangs.
17:49People are carrying them just to look cool,
17:52which is absurd.
17:55And they are using them.
17:56Over 50,000 knife crimes terrorised the people of England
18:03and Wales alone last year.
18:07So today we're in Northampton Town Centre
18:09as part of the national operation called Operation Scepter.
18:15Scouring Northampton Town Centre for weapons stashed by crooks
18:19are PC Alex and PC Annie.
18:23So it's sort of a matter of us to sort of proactively go out there
18:26and search places like bushes and drain pipes
18:29and all sorts of things where anyone could just hide a knife.
18:33Gang members often stash their blades and shooters
18:36so they don't get caught all tooled up.
18:39Just sort of like a massive game of hide and seek,
18:42essentially, looking for weapons to try and take off the street.
18:50I imagine if a little child's coming with their parent
18:52and as kids do, being inquisitive, looking into different things,
18:58or it takes them to pick it up and they could cut themselves
19:00or something like that.
19:04Ultimately, every knife we found
19:06is a potential life that has been saved.
19:10Suddenly, Alex and Annie get an urgent call.
19:13A worker at a local charity
19:15which offers supported housing for homeless people
19:18has dialled 999
19:19after finding potentially deadly weapons while cleaning a room.
19:24So we're on our way there now to go and speak with them
19:27and recover those items, get them off the streets
19:30for them to be destroyed.
19:32Perfect.
19:33Yeah.
19:39Go see what we find.
19:50Once a rated hunting knife
19:52and a gun.
19:56Interesting.
19:59Here's an air pistol.
20:01It's interesting.
20:01It's got tape on it.
20:04This job just got tasty.
20:06So the main concern I've got is that the handle is sort of taped
20:12and it is an issue that we have where people can adapt
20:17air pistols to fire ammunition.
20:22Illegally converted blank firers are to blame for more UK shootings than regular handguns.
20:29I don't want to sort of risk of transporting it in it and that happening.
20:35And the last thing they want is this one going off.
20:39With a potentially lethal weapon on his hands,
20:42Alex calls firearms for advice.
20:45The pistol is marked up as an air pistol.
20:49However, the concern I've got is that the handle has been all taped.
20:55So where the sort of cartridge would go,
20:59the magazine had gone, that's all taped as well.
21:02And it's got quite a bit of weight to it.
21:04So I'm just conscious of is it actually an air pistol
21:09or has it been adapted in any way to fire sort of adapted ammunition?
21:16Firearms want a closer look pronto.
21:20Cheers, guys. Thank you very much.
21:33Back at the station, they're ready with an expert eye.
21:37I think he's going to fire a tiny BB plastic gun.
21:41I just need to cut this thing onto it.
21:44Like zoom in.
21:49Tape removed.
21:50Firearms give their verdict.
21:53That's it.
21:54That's it.
21:54That's it.
21:55That's it.
21:55So there's no ammunition in there?
21:59No, it's clear.
22:00It's like a cap of gas power.
22:01It's like a kind of gas power and all fire little plastic BB pellets.
22:05The air gun has not been converted.
22:09That's good.
22:10Now it's safe.
22:11There is still some gas in it.
22:12Nevertheless, toting an imitation like this in public
22:16can land you a few years behind bars.
22:19Yeah.
22:19There's no plastic rams in it or anything like that.
22:22That's the mate.
22:23That's empty.
22:23There's nothing in the barrel.
22:26If you could tell you that.
22:28It's obviously going to make people worried in the community
22:31that we are recovering those things.
22:33There's no excuse for it in society, is there?
22:39You know, we don't need to have weapons.
22:41It just puts other people at risk as well as themselves.
22:44The gun and knife aren't strictly illegal,
22:47but both will be destroyed.
22:49Coming up.
23:00If I say one word back, I'm the one in trouble.
23:05PC Jonathan is called to a neighbourhood at war.
23:08I want nothing more than plant flowers.
23:10What's causing all the animosity?
23:11And a house search reveals dogs in distress.
23:16It's terrible, mate, this.
23:19Oh, no.
23:20With crime and issue across our country,
23:34people are calling out for the return of bobbies on the beat.
23:38We need more police.
23:40We need a lot, lot more police presence on the streets
23:44because it does deter it
23:47and they've got more chance of being caught, haven't they,
23:50if there's a lot of police around.
23:52The police need to be a lot more proactive
23:54to get themselves back
23:55and to get the people's confidence in them and respect.
23:58They need to be out there, to be seen, to doing things.
24:02The most pivotal role of a neighbourhood officer
24:05is being seen, being visible,
24:10and it's having that Bobby on the streets approach.
24:13Although it's a tactic that can put cops in the firing line.
24:18For me, when you go into an area,
24:20you've got to be open-minded.
24:22Especially as an officer,
24:24you've got to be aware of the dangers
24:25and people out there do want to hurt you.
24:28P.C. Josh has been keeping a watchful eye
24:43over Wellenborough for the last seven years.
24:48He's seen all sorts.
24:51Today he's investigating a fella
24:53who's clocked acting strangely with a samurai sword.
24:58It's just plastic.
25:01Help me.
25:02No-one's called us, but Jesus Christ.
25:05We're not seeing that on the table.
25:07No, no, no.
25:07It's just plastic, mate.
25:09How come you got it out?
25:10I'm just training. They're plastic too.
25:12Apparently, his morning workout
25:14involves an imitation sword
25:16and training nunchucks.
25:18It's all fine.
25:20You don't have to worry about.
25:21You don't have to worry about.
25:22All you need is a real set of these.
25:24Yeah.
25:24You can kill an army.
25:25You should see me with the sword if I'm hungry.
25:29Thankfully, he's had his Weetabix.
25:31Anyone that killed more than 10 men in Viking times
25:34was called a berserker.
25:35I would have been a grand berserker.
25:37I love the Vikings. It's brilliant.
25:39Wellen's answer to Eric the Red
25:41also appears to have a little something
25:43to help him reach new heights.
25:46Well, that's cannabis.
25:47Yeah.
25:48So, right now, you've been detained for a stop search.
25:50Okay.
25:51Are you going?
25:51So, Keith, for a moment of time,
25:52you've been detained
25:53from the Section 23 Mises Drugged Act.
25:55Yeah.
25:56Viking or not,
25:58cannabis is still an illegal Class B drug.
26:01The objective of the search is to find cannabis on you
26:03or any more drugs that you might have on you.
26:06Anything on you shouldn't have?
26:07No.
26:07Okay, I'm not going to handcuff you
26:09because you've been really sound with me
26:09to keep your hands to your side
26:11and keep your hands out of your pockets
26:11from your room
26:12and just face that way all the time to me.
26:20Have you been caught with cannabis free
26:21when you've been before?
26:22No, mate.
26:24Empty pockets
26:25and no previous for weed
26:27means the bloke is getting
26:28a community resolution order.
26:31So, it's basically the old version
26:32of a cannabis warning.
26:33Okay?
26:34Get caught again
26:35and it won't be Thor's hammer
26:37he'll have to worry about.
26:39It'll be the long arm of the law.
26:42We'll be on our way.
26:44Okay.
26:44Take it easy.
26:46You're going to attack my last fight.
26:48Yeah.
26:49Unfortunately, we are, mate.
26:50It's going to be destroyed.
26:52Nice try.
26:54Before Josh gets going,
26:56he tries to bag some intel.
26:58Who did you buy cannabis from?
27:02I don't expect you to sell me
27:04but I have to try.
27:05The wizard.
27:06Is it around here?
27:08It was, it was neither near nor far.
27:11I can tell you no lies.
27:12I've got to ask, haven't I?
27:13I've got to ask.
27:15Alright, take care, mate.
27:16See you, mate.
27:16See you, mate.
27:17Good day.
27:18Well, his Nordic warrior
27:20can get back to his morning workout.
27:23Cheesed him off
27:24by taking his cannabis off him
27:26which you're not allowed to do
27:27and now he will be sent
27:28on a cannabis course
27:29to hopefully help him
27:31get off the use of cannabis.
27:33but, you know,
27:34having that interaction with him
27:36about his hobby
27:36and actually taking interest in him
27:38and how she builds bridges as well.
27:40He knows that we've got a job to do.
27:41After a multi-car manhunt
27:49They are on quality clothes.
27:52Brought down a wanted bad boy
27:54and his flighty mate
27:56Hang on the floor, mate.
27:59You're on the floor.
28:0020 wraps.
28:05Police have got the go-ahead
28:07to raid a property linked to them.
28:10Might be a cache,
28:12maybe phones,
28:13drugs obviously
28:14is the most obvious one.
28:15Weapons.
28:15Any weapons,
28:16as my colleague says.
28:18So we'll head there now.
28:20We've also been notified
28:21that there's potentially
28:22four large dogs at the address.
28:24So we'll look to just
28:26obviously exercise
28:27a bit of caution
28:28should that be the case.
28:35PC's Alex and Miles
28:36are on containment
28:37round the back.
28:39It's his house on the corner, mate.
28:41While another unit
28:42do the door knock.
28:47He's a big boy.
28:48It looks like two XL bullies
28:57are on the loose.
28:59It's going up.
29:00Oh yeah.
29:01That's open.
29:01Yeah, close it, mate.
29:02It's coming towards the gate.
29:04Keen to avoid getting
29:06up close and personal
29:07with a hundred pounds
29:09of snarling biting machine,
29:11they wait for the resident
29:13to kennel them.
29:14Then the searches go.
29:16I'll start in this corner, mate.
29:21Got some rifles.
29:24Oh yeah.
29:27Air rifles.
29:29Yeah.
29:30These air rifles
29:32aren't illegal,
29:33but they could end up
29:35being used in something
29:36nasty and criminal.
29:38Just watch yourself
29:39on that, mate.
29:39Yeah.
29:40As for the dogs,
29:43they've been left
29:44in a sorry state.
29:46They've got to be
29:47fighting dogs,
29:48haven't they?
29:48It's terrible, mate.
29:51This one can't walk
29:52properly either.
29:53The dogs are limping
29:55and one has a huge wound
29:57on its ear.
29:58It's terrible, mate,
29:59this.
30:01I know.
30:02It looks like
30:07he's using them
30:07for fights.
30:11It just angers me, mate,
30:12that they can do this.
30:14Miles has a no-nonsense
30:16word with the resident.
30:18What's going on
30:18with the dogs?
30:20You live here,
30:21you're the homeowner
30:22and you've got
30:23three kennels
30:24in your garden
30:25with two dogs
30:26that are in
30:26pretty poor condition.
30:28Do you not care
30:28about them at all?
30:29One's limping
30:31and one looks like
30:32it's missing
30:32half an ear.
30:35He doesn't care
30:35about the dogs
30:36at all.
30:38The resident
30:39denies they own
30:40the dogs
30:40and claims
30:41one of the arrested
30:42men are responsible.
30:44I think we've got
30:45enough under
30:46the animal welfare
30:46I'm not happy
30:47without it, too.
30:49Police often
30:50join forces
30:50with the RSPCA
30:52who lead investigations
30:54cracking down
30:55on animal abuse.
30:57Come here.
30:58Alex is calling
31:00it in.
31:01So, yeah,
31:01physical welfare
31:02for one of the dogs
31:03they're limping
31:03quite badly
31:04and the other dog
31:05seems to have
31:05like a gash
31:06to its head
31:07and he's almost
31:07crying.
31:09They kept him
31:09like an outdoor
31:10kennel type of thing.
31:11There's quite a lot
31:12of faeces
31:12and urine
31:13within.
31:16I am going
31:17to pass this through
31:18so we can assess
31:19the best course
31:20of action.
31:21And obviously
31:22I do appreciate
31:22your calling today.
31:24It's not a nice
31:24thing to see
31:25but you've done
31:25the right thing
31:25and you're the best
31:26thing for the animal.
31:28Thanks to the
31:29earlier manhunt
31:30one suspected drug dealer
31:32is also in the frame
31:33for animal cruelty.
31:35If guilty
31:36of everything
31:36he's up for
31:37he could face
31:38serious jail time.
31:43As the saying goes
31:45a man's home
31:46is his castle
31:47and up and down
31:48the country
31:49battle lines
31:50are being drawn
31:51between warring neighbours.
31:52I feel
31:54I feel
31:54that people
31:55are considerably
31:56quicker
31:57to jump
31:58to a violent
31:59settlement
32:00of
32:01small
32:02and petty
32:02arguments
32:03something that
32:04turns out nasty
32:05and anti-social.
32:06I think there's
32:08less tolerance
32:10it's I want
32:11things my way
32:12and you shouldn't
32:12be doing that
32:13and less argue
32:13about it
32:14and things just
32:15rifle out of hand.
32:17People
32:18all they're interested
32:19in doing now
32:20is fighting
32:21arguing
32:22and not sharing
32:23anything.
32:24What I've got
32:25is mine
32:25and I'm keeping it.
32:26I think there's hope
32:28for society
32:29because if we just
32:30actually just start
32:31talking to each other
32:32and you know
32:33be neighbours
32:33and be neighbourly
32:34I think
32:35we can get back.
32:38Often
32:38a little street cop
32:39mediation
32:40can stop things
32:41getting out of hand.
32:43My own personal
32:44view of a neighbourhood
32:45officer
32:45is someone that is
32:46friendly
32:47happy
32:48happy to talk
32:50to people
32:50happy to get involved
32:51with any community
32:52issues that might be
32:53going on
32:53someone that's
32:54out on their area.
32:56I always try and do it
32:56with a smile
32:57on the face.
33:03PC Jonathan
33:04is paying a visit
33:05to a local
33:06who's giving the area
33:07a garden makeover
33:08whether his neighbours
33:10like it or not.
33:13Now
33:14all hell
33:15is breaking loose.
33:17Only a small number
33:18of residents
33:18don't really like
33:19the garden
33:19and they don't
33:20really like
33:20its behaviour
33:21because they believe
33:22there's been reports
33:24about kids
33:25using the garden
33:26to do drug dealing
33:27and smoking cannabis
33:29enjoying the nights.
33:31While some folks
33:32believe the shared
33:33space is a hotbed
33:35for trouble
33:35the local gardener
33:37is having his say
33:38by posting videos
33:39on social media.
33:41Good morning
33:42from the garden.
33:44Apparently
33:44this is the most
33:45anti-social spot
33:47in the whole
33:47of Northampton.
33:49These kinds
33:50of neighbour rows
33:51are typical
33:52up and down
33:53the country.
33:54They can soon
33:55turn nasty.
33:57What I really don't want
33:58is there any more
33:58negativity.
33:59I want a summer
34:00of love and peace
34:00and harmony
34:01and bring a community
34:02together.
34:06JB needs to nip
34:08things in the bud
34:08before the row
34:09gets out of hand.
34:11Not here for anything
34:13serious.
34:14It's just basically
34:15short and sweet
34:16just to remind
34:16of your CPW
34:17conditions.
34:18What have I done now?
34:19You've not done
34:19anything wrong.
34:20It's just
34:21another resident
34:22has complained.
34:23Who?
34:24I can't tell you
34:25no, I can't.
34:26The bloke's already
34:28been handed a CPW
34:29or anti-social
34:31behaviour warning
34:32after a complaint.
34:34I'm baffled.
34:35It's baffled you all.
34:36Yeah.
34:37So, what have they
34:38said this time?
34:38What have I supposed
34:39to have done this time?
34:40Apparently
34:41when you ride along
34:42your ability to scooter
34:43the man in which
34:44you're riding it
34:45they've also made
34:46complaints about
34:47the kids that are
34:48smoking cannabis
34:50within the complex.
34:52The kids that smoke
34:52weed down in that den
34:53yeah?
34:54Nothing to do
34:55with me.
34:55I'm building a garden
34:56for adults.
34:57Right?
34:58My scooter
34:59has a GoPro on it.
35:00Yeah?
35:01Every single journey
35:03I've made
35:04since me and you
35:04had that conversation
35:05is recorded.
35:06I'm quite happily
35:07going to get you
35:08the GoPro.
35:09You can take it away
35:10and you can see
35:11every single conversation
35:12I've had
35:13in the last four months.
35:14If I say one word back
35:16I'm the one in trouble.
35:18You've got in trouble
35:19school me to
35:20make you aware of that.
35:21Make you aware
35:22that they're keeping
35:23which I'm a barge to.
35:24If people are making
35:25complaints I'm obliged
35:26to do it.
35:27Obviously
35:27I'm not going to
35:27listen
35:28can I start making
35:29complaints?
35:30Yeah right
35:30and you're going to
35:31follow them up.
35:33Coming up
35:33I beg you
35:34and I beg you
35:35and I beg you
35:35to pay more attention
35:36to the place.
35:37Cops go from
35:38the grumpy gardener
35:40I have paid
35:40for every single
35:41part in that place
35:42out of my own money.
35:45To a mechanic
35:46driven mad
35:47by bad parking.
35:49I need a clear place
35:50for more than the car.
36:03There's more vehicles
36:04on UK roads
36:05than ever before.
36:0741 million.
36:09It only takes
36:10a few inconsiderate drivers
36:11to grind everyone's gears.
36:15There's a lot more cars now
36:16that's the problem.
36:17Speeding cars
36:18it is very very dangerous.
36:20I've seen quite a few people
36:21get knocked over
36:22around where I live
36:23and where I work.
36:25Cars travel far too fast
36:27in built up areas.
36:29The speed limits
36:29need to be brought down
36:31and traffic wardens
36:33should be around
36:34to remove parked cars
36:35that are parked illegally.
36:38Side streets
36:39are so overcrowded.
36:40You've got double parking
36:41over the corner parking
36:42so when you're driving a car
36:43you can't see out
36:45at the corner
36:45where traffic's coming
36:46because of all the bad parking.
36:48If their car's confiscated
36:50they just go and get another one
36:51and carry on.
36:52They don't care about anyone else
36:53they just worry about themselves.
36:58Neighbourhood disputes
37:00aren't only rooted
37:01on our estates.
37:03In our town centres
37:05cops have to deal
37:06with one traditional bugbear
37:08poor parking.
37:09Today
37:13PC Ben
37:14has a mechanic
37:14mad about motors.
37:17My area is Croyland.
37:19It's quite a small area
37:20of Wellenborough
37:21but there's quite a lot
37:23of little back roads
37:24and things like that.
37:25Mainly the Kingsway Estate
37:26is the main one.
37:29A handful of selfish car drivers
37:32are causing chaos
37:34on a tight road.
37:39local mechanic Laszlo
37:52has called the cops
37:54after finding not one
37:55not two
38:00but three cars
38:02dumped on double yellows
38:04and blocking his garage.
38:06I can move in
38:09because
38:09there's this
38:10but anyway
38:10this is my business
38:11sorry about
38:12but I need a clear place
38:14for moving the car.
38:16I tell everyone
38:18leave the cars
38:19on the street
38:21on the road
38:22or here
38:23in the parking place.
38:27It's okay
38:28it's fine
38:29don't leave
38:30anything here.
38:32It looks like
38:33the cars need
38:34fixing up
38:34but the drivers
38:36haven't made a booking
38:37and some haven't
38:38even left their details.
38:41Yeah leave it with me
38:42I'll do some checks
38:42see if I can find out
38:43who the owner is.
38:44Okay.
38:45See if they can move it
38:46mask it nicely
38:47if not
38:47we'll go from there
38:49just take it bit by bit.
38:50If you were the owner
38:51of that business
38:51and you had people
38:53parking and getting
38:54in your way
38:54you're trying to fix cars
38:56and then you
38:56ding one or scratch one
38:58it's not great is it?
39:00I've reassured him
39:00that we're going to try
39:01and find the owners
39:02of the Ford
39:03and the Kia
39:03just sort of
39:05get him to move it.
39:06So yeah
39:07that's where we'll be
39:07going next.
39:08At least the van driver
39:10had the sense
39:11to leave their number.
39:12The person you're
39:13trying to reach
39:14is not available.
39:15At the tone
39:15please record your message.
39:17This is PC Morris
39:18from North Antonshire Police.
39:19Just calling in
39:20regard to your
39:21Ford Transit van
39:22and the fact
39:24that it's parked
39:24on double yellows
39:25and blocking
39:26the people's driveways.
39:28If you could just
39:28give me a call back
39:29that would be
39:29greatly appreciated.
39:30Thank you very much.
39:30One down
39:32two to go.
39:34Oh are you for
39:34the Range Rover?
39:36Yeah.
39:37And the Range Rover
39:38owners have appeared
39:38to sort their vehicle.
39:41I'll come back
39:42in a few days anyway
39:43just because there's
39:44other cars and stuff.
39:45Cool.
39:46I'll leave you guys to it.
39:47Cheers.
39:48Leaving one last problem
39:50to resolve.
39:51It's that one
39:52that's more of an issue.
39:53Please.
39:54Please.
39:55I don't get why
39:56people abandon cars.
39:57It's just stupid
39:58isn't it?
39:58While Ben
40:00can't move
40:01the cars himself
40:02he can apply
40:03some pressure
40:04to the owners.
40:06Can you get cars
40:07in and out
40:08from down there?
40:08And call the council.
40:10It's the council
40:11that issue tickets
40:12for double yellow lines
40:13and things like that.
40:14So in some counties
40:16and areas
40:17the council
40:18gives the police
40:18the authority
40:19to then find
40:20for people parking
40:20on double yellows.
40:21In Northamptonshire
40:22that's not the case
40:23which I know
40:24is unfortunate.
40:26Leave it with me.
40:27Okay.
40:27I've got details
40:29of that person
40:30I'll go have a chat
40:31with them.
40:31Okay.
40:32Because there's
40:33unfortunately
40:33there's not much else
40:34I can do
40:35and I know it's annoying
40:36because it's annoying
40:37for me as well.
40:38It really is.
40:41If you owned a business
40:42and you'd want the police
40:43to come out
40:43and whether they can
40:45do anything or not
40:46it's just about
40:47that reassurance
40:48and hoping that you
40:49can get something
40:50out of it.
40:50The owner of the third
40:53vehicle removed
40:53the motor
40:54after a few hours
40:55meaning the garage
40:56could finally
40:57operate freely.
41:00It might seem
41:01like something
41:02that's not a major deal
41:04but actually
41:04it's costing
41:05this person's livelihood
41:06and that's what
41:09community policing
41:09is about
41:10sort of trying
41:10to help the people
41:11that need it the most.
41:12Bye.
41:13Meanwhile
41:22on an estate
41:24I've never done that.
41:25You've not done
41:25anything wrong.
41:26It's just
41:27another restaurant
41:28has complained.
41:30JB is stepping in
41:32to put a neighbourhood
41:33row about a community
41:34garden to bed.
41:36Can I start
41:36making complaints?
41:38However
41:38Titchmarsh number two
41:40is getting hot
41:41under the collar.
41:42Oh well
41:42I'm complaining
41:43about the weed killer.
41:44I'm complaining
41:45about you.
41:45Which we are.
41:46Yeah?
41:46Which nothing
41:47has been investigated.
41:48I begged you
41:48and I begged you
41:49and I begged you
41:50and I begged you
41:51to pay more attention
41:51to the place.
41:52Yeah we know.
41:53Alright.
41:54JB needs to get
41:55this peacekeeping
41:56mission back on track.
41:58The issue we have
41:59is with stuff like
42:00this is
42:01we get one person
42:02saying one thing
42:02another person
42:03saying another thing.
42:05Let me finish.
42:06Let me finish.
42:08The difficulty
42:09the police have
42:09is we're the poor
42:10impartial
42:11in the middle side
42:12where
42:12we're listening
42:13to your side
42:14of the story
42:14that person's
42:15side of the story
42:15we report back
42:17what's been said
42:18by the other side
42:18to you
42:19which in turn
42:20then means
42:21you're annoyed
42:21at what's been said
42:22and then
42:23listen
42:23hold on
42:24hold on
42:25and then we'll
42:26go to the other person
42:27we tell them
42:28what you said
42:28and they're unhappy
42:29oh what you said
42:31and then we get
42:32accused of
42:32taking sides
42:33and
42:34I do appreciate
42:35but all I'm trying
42:36to do
42:37all I'm trying
42:37to do
42:38literally
42:38is build a park
42:39yeah
42:39which I understand
42:40for everyone to use
42:41yeah right
42:41just to make you aware
42:42of the CPW condition
42:43just to remind you
42:44that is it
42:45if the feisty fella
42:47breaks the rules
42:48spelt out
42:48in his warning
42:49it says I cannot
42:50shout in the state
42:51of Northampton
42:52the street cops
42:54will be stopping
42:54by again
42:55and taking it
42:56up a notch
42:57I want nothing more
42:58than plant flowers
42:59what's causing
43:00all the animosity
43:00with a calm reminder
43:02hammered home
43:03I personally
43:05want to sit down
43:06relax down there
43:07and just plant flowers
43:08it's great for my
43:09mental health
43:10JB gets an offer
43:12he can't refuse
43:13but please
43:14take your tea breaks
43:15down there
43:15get a camera
43:17put up there yourself
43:18I would love you
43:19to catch all the
43:19antisocial behaviour
