00:00Three, two, one, let's go!
00:03Station berikutnya, Bandaraya UOB
00:07Today's event is not just about naming a station,
00:15it is about forging a partnership that uplifts our city
00:19and enhances the daily life of Malaysians.
00:23I would like to commend UOB Malaysia for supporting the government's station immigrants program.
00:28This initiative exemplifies how the private sector can contribute meaningfully to national development.
00:35Our collaboration with the bank, which began in 2022,
00:39demonstrates a successful public-private partnership built on shared goals in sustainability, transport and economic growth.
00:47Today's milestone is testament to the bank's continued dedication to enriching urban life through meaningful and creative partnership.
00:55This is a very, very valuable investment.
00:58and partnership with the government.
01:00Because in the entire Kuala Lumpur, there is only one station by the name of Bandaraya.
01:06I share with Mr. B, Bandaraya means, in Malay, it means city.
01:10So when we have Bandaraya UOB, that means in English translation, it means UOB city station.
01:17So there is, we are all our network, MRT, LRT, Monorail, there is only one station for Bandaraya.
01:28There is no second station for Bandaraya.
01:30There is only one, and taken up by UOB.
01:33So, congrats.
01:35And I hope that this also gives a lot of good value for both Prasarana and UOB.
01:41And of course, for Prasarana, this is an important initiative.
01:46I've pushed our team in Prasarana, that we have to be thinking out of the box.
01:52We have to be more creative in raising revenue.
01:56We know that public transport is not a profit-making venture.
02:01Public transport is prepared by the government for the benefits of the people to make mobility easier.
02:08And it's a very important part of our city life.
02:11But the government is subsidising heavily and we are spending billions of money just to build our public infrastructure
02:19and also our public transport system.
02:22But at the same time, we need to be sustainable.
02:25We need to be financially sound so that we have to think about how we create more revenue besides our Fairbox revenue.
02:36We know that we cannot increase the Fed for the public.
02:40We make it very affordable to Malaysians.
02:43But we have to be creative of how to raise more money, raise more funds, raise more revenue from other sources
02:50such as branding of stations, advertising, and so forth.
02:54So this is where we are today and I'm very, very pleased that UOB has taken up that initiative and also to accept my invitation to take part in this NEMIC REST program.
03:06And I must commend the team that they work on rocket speed just February until now, that's been probably seven, eight months and we are here.
03:18We can review it, we can launch it, even though it looks simple but it's actually not so simple for Prosparana.
03:26Of course, at the corporate level, we need the approval, budget, funding and approval from their boss but on our side, the operational part of it is not that simple.
03:38So the moment you say, yes, we want to adopt this, we need to change the entire public announcement.
03:46We need to change all our signbox, not only at the station but at every station because you have to add the word UOB at every station.
03:58So it's not a very simple process but they work very, very closely together and I'm very pleased that we got it done very, very quickly.
04:08Thank you very much.
