Malaysia has launched the long-awaited Electric Train Service (ETS) connecting Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur, which will begin operations on Friday (Dec 12).   Speaking at the project’s official launch at the Kempas Baru station in Johor Baru on Thursday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the project marks a major step forward in strengthening national transport connectivity, while Transport Minister Anthony Loke hailed it as a significant milestone in rail development. 00:00The long-awaited electric train service, ETS, between Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur has officially been launched.

00:17The service was inaugurated on Thursday by Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim at Kerempas Bahru Station in Johor Bahru and will commence operations on Friday.

00:28Prime Minister Datuk Sri Anwar Ibrahim described the launch as a major boost for both Johor and Malaysia.

01:18Transport Minister Anthony Luk said the completion of the 192-km Kermas Johor Bahru Electrified Double-Tracking Project ,

01:37Also present at the ceremony was Johor Merndri Besar Datuk on Hafiz Ghazi.

01:42With the new line, KTMB will operate four daily ETS services between KL Central and JB Central.

01:50To celebrate the launch, a 30% discount is available for tickets on the KL-JB-KL route
