Proposed RTS Link fare to be presented to M'sia, S'pore govts in Q3, says Loke

The proposed fare for the Johor Baru-Singapore RTS Link will be submitted to both governments in Q3 2026, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said.  The operator, RTS Operations Pte Ltd (RTSO), will present the rates for approval by Malaysia’s Land Public Transport Agency and Singapore’s Land Transport Authority before public announcement.  On season passes for frequent travellers, Loke said the government is open to proposals, provided they are commercially viable and coordinated with RTSO. 01:32Jadi mana-mana pihak yang nak memperkenalkan season pass,

01:36kalau dari segi komersinya, kalau mereka rasa boleh perkenalkan season pass,

01:40itu memang kita alu-alukan oleh pihak RTSO.

01:43Tetapi itu perlu dilaksanakan melalui kelurusan daripada lembaga RTSO.

01:53Tetapi mengikut pengalaman kita, mana-mana season pass itu,

01:56kalau dia nak berbaloi, dia mesti ada tanggungan daripada kerajaan

02:00ataupun subsidi daripada kerajaan.

02:02Jadi kalau kita, di sebelah kita, kita memang nak cuba melihat

02:06bagaimana kita memberikan bantuan kepada keluarga negara Malaysia.

02:10So on our side, definitely kalau kita berbincang tentang season pass,

02:13we are only talking about the Malaysian season pass for Malaysians.

02:16We are not going to subsidize foreigners.

02:20Likewise, kalau ke Singapura, kalau dia nak bagi season pass pun,

02:24I'm sure they will only talk about their locals.

02:26So this is the respective government have to look at it.

02:30So RTSO is very important principle that we have to let the public understand.

02:37RTSO is not a Malaysian company.

02:40It is a joint venture company between Malaysia and Singapore.

02:44So this is a joint venture company.

02:46And the principle of it is that they have to ensure financial sustainability of that company.

02:52So they, I mean, the respective government would not subsidize the company.

02:57So they have to find ways to ensure that the revenue is enough to cover the expenses.

03:01So this will, of course, will be challenging.

03:04And therefore, any type of season passes that to be introduced must be commercially viable.
